What a shame. It's a great concept, but it should either be kept as a minigame on a bigger release or just one of many different modes rather than the only one.

it would have to be a drastically reduced version too many objects in the actuall game as it is

I miss burnout revenge. The crash mode was the best because I would love to focus on one car and think theoretically if the driver would survive. The end result was no. Almost always the Blue SUV full of kids on the way home from soccer never survived.

I loved the Burnout series! As much as Paradise was a good game, I feel that taking out the crash junctions was a huge omission. I'd recommend trying out the Flatout series, if you haven't tried them before!
Played every one of the Flatout games, even the crappy third one. The first two and Ultimate Carnage are awesome games in their own right, but I don't really find them a proper replacement to Burnout. Very different games are their core.
I completely agree...sure, they kind of share that same sub-genre of arcade-style wackiness, but no other game seems to suffice when I'm in the mood to play Burnout and cause some big wrecks!
Crappy third one? Man the third one was my favorite by far!
Burnout 3 in my opinion has the best crash junctions. Burnout Revenge is good to but the third is always the best.
I have yet to play the third one...maybe I'll have to give it a go and see if it's truly crappy or not (at least in my opinion)!

The best golf games I have played so far: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 and 2003 (best most fun control mechanism), Peter Jacobsen's Golden Tee Golf (PC) (was probably the first with this mechanism but PGA Tour improved it), 18th Hole, Jack Niklaus Golf (NES), 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures Deluxe (PC), Crazy Golf World Tour (PC), Toy Golf (PC), Winnie The Pooh's 100 Acre Wood (PC).

It's basically a test result, nailing crazy destruction aspect in the engine from the dev, and from what they learned, they made Dangerous Driving.
Imagine if the game had a better camera, sandbox mode and steam workshop support.
The ability to recreate my own house and smash everything to pieces with an atomic golf ball? sign me the fuck up!

To me I would say it failed at the concept first. Crashing cars and then comparing that to breaking fine china is a huge leap backwards.
LGR I would highly recommend reveiwing Dwarf Fortress! Although I wouldn't be suprised if you already know about it. No other game I can think of has captured it's poise. The game is literally a world simulator and creator just waiting for your fingers to touch and shape it, but in the process grinds them away and you have a lot of FUN.

Hey Clint, have you heard of Turbo Dismount? It's very similar to the crash mode from Burnout, but with crazier physics and it has mods (steam workshop even!).
I haven't played this, but from your video, it seems like what it's missing that Burnout had were the other cars. Half the fun of the crash modes in previous Burnouts was the almost puzzle-game like placement of AI cars, and learning how to leverage them to pull off insane shit after many different attempts. But in this, it seems like all the environments are totally static, which greatly reduces the ability of the player to utilize the environment creatively.
Have to admit though, the spill and splatter effects of all the things filled with liquids you smash through is pretty impressive looking.
Oh my god I hate you - for winding me up with that glorious Burnout 3 Crash Mode footage, then teasing me that AT LAST, it has been resurrected, new, this very month! In Dangerous Golf! Then kicking me in the dingle with the reality that it's mediocre, or at least, improperly handled to make it truly the joyful experience of our memory.
Man that hurts.
Excellent review. I saw some gameplay a while back and that's how I figured it would be. Price drop and a free play mode would totally have me sold.
The fact that there's no oldschool, crashing Burnout on PC irks me like there's no tomorrow. Of course, there's Paradise and the excelent mod Vanity Pack, but still...

It was the first game I ever owned and I played it for years on my dads Amiga. And even later on one of this crappy ESCOM Pc's we had in Europe. Would be nice if you did a review of this game.

Seems like it might as well be "Dangerous Pool" or "Dangerous Bouncy-Ball" as there seems to be little golf involved apart from the shape of the ball. There should at least be a golfer swinging a club at the ball.

LGR, do you know Links Extreme? It was a Golf game where you blew up several things. Since it's a weird retro game, I think it fits your style of games that you usually review.

Oh wow, that menu looks almost exactly the same as Burnout 3. Right down to calling it "Smash Nav" instead of "Crash Nav". They even use the Burnout font.
The best (mini) golf game is still planet minigolf (ps3). Still hoping / praying for a part 2
I don't know why, but I get a huge feeling of "deja vu" when I hear the ending "Dangerous Golf" song. Anyone else feel like they've heard it before? Like maybe in another video game? I swear I have, it sounds so familiar. Maybe it's a parody of a song?

Hmm....that's a bit disappointing. The world tour mode should have at least added Scotland and Japan since golf originated in Scotland and in the East Asia region golf is currently most popular in Japan (though interest has been rising in China as well which would also make an interesting location).
Also, the fact that it all takes place in relatively small rooms is also disappointing. I'm not saying get rid of small rooms altogether, but when I think about causing havoc with golf balls (or other sports equipment) I would be thinking of malls, museums (Smithsonian, The Met, The Louvre...), popular city blocks (Time Square, Akihabara/Shibuya, Trafalgar Square) and so on. The scope just seems a bit small especially when they did do more crazy stuff in Burnout.

Have you ever played Outlaw Golf? It was a rather comical Golf game for the original XBox & PS2. The first is better & Blockbuster released Holiday Golf, same concept only holiday themed.

This game is basically my last round on the course...
it could be awesome if instead of Golf was Pool, Dangerous Pool sounds very cool to me since i always thought that it could be pretty neat to do the exact same thing but with a bunch of balls XD
But seems pretty neat otherwise, but as you said it kinda loses its charm after a while with so limited options, a shame because this could be a pretty cool idea if were executed correctly.
I have yet to see an LGR video I felt disappointed with. Either I have very low standards or you are very awesome, possibly both. Huzzah! Explosions and gratuitous violence for all!

Put that in this game and i will so buy it.
At first i thought awesome but then it just began looking like a tech demo. I mean it all taking place inside just squanders potential. What about trying to smack it hard hitting the guy on the next fairway? They could've done tons of stuff there. They could even add in a secret alien level or something.

maybe it would have worked better with the htc vive and if you could throw it like a ball with the controller than just shooting a golf ball, it would be cool if destroying things got points and you just needed to get more points than a friend or a bot to win the round.

Well, it was to be expected that it gets stale very very quickly since they made a game out of a part of another game. The idea itself is great but I can't deny it just feels like a part of an actual full game.
I never understood the appeal of crash mode honestly. Most of my time playing it was launching, getting a crappy score and having to restart it 20 times before I got enough to move on to another race in career mode. Even when you finally got it I never felt the satisfaction I know the developers intended.
Which Burnout game should i get?.
Start with either Legends or Dominator. Then go for the 'classic' titles :)

I remember buying the first Burnout on the X-box, from the fucking Free Record Shop. The amount of time me and a friend put into this game is absolutely crazy for the little amount of content it had.
This seems more like showing of the Unreal physics engine ...that they didn't make xD

This seems like a tech demo wrapped in a pretty package (namely the physics and particle effects of the Unreal engine). The $20 price tag that's attached makes it wholly unattractive IMO. Seems like a $5.99 impulse buy type of game, if anything.

This is an example of today's games forgetting about game play. It's all about looking pretty who cares that it's supposed to be a video GAME.
I am probably the only one who has played burnout games and didn't like the crash mode. I just want the "racing" parts.
Dangerous Golf looks good but more like a tablet/smartphone game to me, in terms of gameplay.
I hope this game sells well so they get the go ahead for a racing game.
Just please stay away from established series. Enough damage done to NFS.
I'd like to think this is just a tech demo of sorts for a new, real Burnout game. I would take an all-Crash-Mode Burnout game, as long as it's not that lame mobile crap.
