- Police in Delphi, Indiana hold a press conference to announce the arrest of a man in connection to their investigation into the deaths of Abby Williams and Liberty German. The two teenage best friends were killed nearly 6 years ago while hiking on and around an abandoned railroad trestle near Delphi. One of the girls was able to capture a short video and a snippet of audio from their alleged attacker who says, "Guys, Down the Hill."

Useless press conference what was the point? They could have told us nothing on Friday and left it at that.

@@brittanyhernandez3387 No one came out Friday and said this guy was being charged with 2 counts of murder with a pre trial in January and a trial in March. Friday it said they had arrested Allen "in connection " with the crimes.

@@justiceBustamante I understand your frustration, 6 years is a long time. All I'm saying is Doug Carter has been the most consistent LEO on this case. Finding someone guilty of double homicides is not a walk in the park. Especially with the hand they were dealt, this case is extremely sensitive from every angle. In my opinion Doug Carter was not "pretending" to cry I think he either had a runny nose, Alergies or maybe he was a little emotional. I personally wouldn't be emotional if after 6 years we finally found "our guy". Think about the time / dedication just this one man has put into this case to get to finally get to this point. Things don't happen over night, I hope you can try to see things from his perspective.

I have so much respect for Carter and the other officers. They didn’t cave when the public was condemning them for not releasing evidence! They never gave up. They were as patient as they could be to get the RIGHT person. So proud of them!

Yep it's like they don't realize that there's a trial in the future and that they've got to find 12 reasonable people that haven't been influenced by this case and I totally respect their keeping things close to the vest. The last thing anybody needs now is this guy walking. I like at least we have a trial date to look forward to and we can wait we've already waited 5 years.

There was literally no point to this press conference. They could have just released a statement instead of tooting their own horns for twenty plus minutes

I dont mean this in the wrong way but what else are they gonna do but speeding tickets. The area is so quiet. Other places wouldnt finish the investigation out like this. These police officers here are amazing and know how to really play out an investigation to get the guy with no bad problems.

I think they are not sharing because more people are involved in taking these children’s lives. One man can’t take two children and one doesn’t try to run away or get away. Who knows how many if guilty they have killed over time. So sad! These parents have been tormented. This man has children of his own. How could he even think of taking a young girls life.
This is a big possibility. The missing Houston girls of a similar story unfortunately were killed by 3 guys. There had to be more than one involved. That Johnny shots catfish has been arrested. He could come out a suspect.
Thats what I've been saying. My cousin lives like Ohio/Indiana line & we grew up in the country & in the city running around & I swear, 2 girls like that? One would have ran. Especially that first big overweight guy they had in custody? I thought no way he could get them both! I hate to say it but hopefully he didn't use his own daughters to lure in these girls.
I wonder if the Girls recognized RA from the local CVS? Did he address the girls FIRST? Did the girls know him enough to say "hi". Why wasnt RA at work that afternoon? If these girls had the afternoon off, didnt RA's own kids have the day off? I wont EVEN go into what I think about the daughters pic sitting on the bridge. It scares the hell out of me.
I think Allen's children were grown but he lived near all 3 schools and the trail.
He probably walked there and walked back home, through woods to home.
He is used to hiking miles, so it wouldn't be anything for him to have walked 3 to 5 miles home, depending on how the Crow flies.

Excellent commentary on their (state police and other law enforcement agencies) resolve to NOT release information prematurely.
Strange press conference. It was more like a series of sermons, lectures and contradictory statements about it “not being the day” and “being the day” from the lawmen followed by the prosecutor’s announcement of the murder charges. I think an issued statement with a promised press conference at a future time would have been more appropriate.

We lost a loved one only 10-years old to murder by a 'friendly' neighbor no one ever suspected of pedophilla. Our family is deeply moved by the girls families courage throughout this miserable process. God will carry you through this tragedy of epic proportions, but the heartbreak never goes away.

I don't care what anyone says; he resembles perfectly both sketches, (though the sketches when considered on their own look like entirely different people)
These girls were so loved and cherished and literally the only cold comfort that anyone can have from their deaths is at least they were together in their final moments.
They actually were not together in their final moments. They were raped and killed in separate locations, one of the girls was likely alive and restrained to watch the other die. They were killed in the same event, so likely a few minutes apart, but still. They did not hold each other as they died.

The prosecutor should have announced and issued a prepared public statement in front of a camera on behalf of the investigation team and agencies with a press conference at a future time. Just leave it at that.

Everyone needs to be patient, we do not need to know now what happened, we just need to know that justice process is progressing and the investigation should not be jeopardized by the curiosity of people to know more details.
I agree, all of us following the girls murders have most likely been following it for the last 5 years, a few more weeks, months or even years will be worth the wait. The info getting out could ultimately set this predator free to hurt other children.
That is a crock they can hold back a little information for their investigation and the integrity but if they would have released a lot more information and footage and audio maybe it would not have taken six years for someone to get arrested

How did social media do anything? I know people on those platforms kept the girls front and center as much as possible but did the officers find him die to social media somehow? I didn’t know that if so. Otherwise, the real hard work and dedication was by the officers/detectives who finally caught him.
As he said here, many gave up retirement, job promotions, time spent with family, etc…and to be honest, all that was done in the face of criticism by the public.
I’m very thankful for the detectives/officers. Without them, this would t have been solved.

Thank you Mr. Carter. I am so glad you are feeling some Peace. That comment hit me very deeply. I've seen past interviews with him and the turmoil was clear. Glad he stood firm as this prosecution must succeed and nothing hamper it because someone said something stupid.

The guy has no bond and his trial is in March. That speaks for itself. The level of certainty that this is the guy is off the charts.
it is important to thank everyone because they worked hard and beyond their duties to catch a killer. Maybe they should have release a statement indicating the arrest and not have the press conference at this time, but that is a different subject.

Me too! I watched this video thinking how I’d protect and defend my girls, or son, until my bitter end! It hit me so hard as a dad and I can’t even come close to imagining the psychological damage done to these poor families who’s precious children were taken far too early in life, before they ever really even had an opportunity to experience it! The families were robbed of their children, and the children of their entire lives, a great many decades that would have been ahead of them. I’m only grateful that it appears they have the ‘right’ team working this and being so genuine on the public stage strongly tells me about their character. I get that the press and the citizens want more information, but I want these bastards to have their lives robbed from them, but in the just way through a court of law and a jury of their peers! If it means staying “hush,” then they need to do so until whenever the point is that won’t jeopardize this case. The girls deserve this, their families deserve this, their friends do too, and all those investigators who worked tirelessly deserve the best possible outcome (as well as their families). Too many people deserve the best possible outcome in a worst possible case. Finally, I just thank the good superintendent for being such a decent man and leading the team this far! I pray them and for a fair, quick, and just outcome! 😢

This case was so horrific, the evidence with the man's picture and his voice was so creepy. Those girls were so precious they remind me of myself at that age. It made me so angry what he did to them, and it is remarkable that one of the girls was able to get that evidence. I hope they are at peace wherever they are, so many people are glad that this case finally has closure.
Very odd they sealed the probable cause. Curious. I find that explanation lacking. Those documents are rarely sealed upon arrest.
I feel so sickened for his kids as well. The daughters of the btk killer and Golden State killer. Ted bundys step daughter. I can't even fathom finding out someone whose supposed to protect you turns out to be a monster. We can say their wives knew or had a hunch, but we know the innocent kids don't have the capacity to even see him as that. Prayers out to those kids as well. May you have the strength in life to continue on.

@Saint Floyd Kiely went missing at a party in CA, was found in her car submerged in a lake. She was in the back seat of her car and the front windows were down. Summer Wells is a little girl missing in TN, her mom supposedly only turned her back for 3 minutes. They were at home and somehow 2 adults and 2 kids didn't see her vanish.
They have exactly the same amount of love and exposure. It took 6 years for Abby and Libby. I think there needs more exposure for Heather Elvis, her body still hasn't hasn't found and her killers have a chance of parole.
But it was totally different circumstances. Kiely drowned in her car. Plus Summer Wells was the subject of huge searches, and as we pray for answers she’s is still missing.
People don’t like when I say this, but you need to face reality whether you like it or not. A responsible father and sister would not have allowed two young teenage girls to go to a place like that by themselves. I as an Adult would not feel comfortable going there by myself. First of all the bridge itself is super dangerous and the area is so remote, it’s the perfect place for a murder. This was a preventable incident. I would never have allowed my children to go there.

Having seen so many fall into absolute mayhem and disregard for the actual process of lawful conviction of this perpetrator. I am so pleased that these fine people have continued and stayed professional, dogged even.
Today is the day, and thankfully it is the right person they have.

Capital punishment is alive and well in Indiana but lately the convicted have made plea deals with prosecution. Life Without Possibility of Parole. It saves time and money.

It's weird watching people whine and moan about them not releasing information. You understand they are protecting the integrity of the evidence so they have a solid case against the murderer. He also has the Constitutional right to a fair trial, regardless of what one's opinion is.

LEOs worked hard to find justice for those two girls. Stop criticizing and be thankful they built a case they are currently protecting in order to bring justice for Abby and Libby.

I think you are right. I also think their hand was forced, possibly by this impending lawsuit that is being filed against the Sheriff's Department and criticising their investigation of this case. They moved pretty quick this past month, whereas it seemed they may have been asleep at the wheel or on auto pilot to this point. They may have been covering something up or playing the long game but the latter is not good when its 5+ years with no arrests. Hopefully, things will move quickly now. I would have been more suspicious of a cover up if they arrested the Klines for the murders or blamed Ron Logan when dead men cannot talk. I think this is positive and we should give LE the benefit of any doubt for now, until perhaps things stagnate again. I hope they don't. At least they know the world is watching because Carter used the word 'planet' This should be more than enough motivation for LE to get it right by doing the right thing.
The most unprofessional press conference I’ve ever seen… They should’ve just released a statement and left it at that. I completely understand not releasing evidence at this point, but this was absolutely ridiculous.
It might have been that way to scare or anger any other(s) involved, and hope they then make a mistake. Let's hope LE has at least a couple of phones tapped, and this presser made phones start ringing amongst possible accomplices. And that "big" ears are listening to those conversations...

They didn't tell us anything we didn't already know it's just a big fake show to Pat their selves on the back. It took them 6 years to figure this out if they would have released more footage and more audio and maybe a few details perhaps the public could have identified this person I know they have to hold back a little bit but as much as they held back is ridiculous. 19 minutes of this conference was that cop saying "today is not the day" while swinging his sweaty head in every direction like he's on stage accepting an award. I would rather just hear from the prosecutor, he was more direct and grounded and straight to the point.
Well, for one thing, LE was likely watching carefully to see who DIDNT show up to this presser. With the arrest of RA, it's certain that a few people out there are cold sweating now, and since they now can no longer communicate with RA, they don't know what he has told LE. Maybe afraid RA HAS spilled the beans, and if they themselves show up, they might be arrested in public. Just one possibility. LE are watching people and places we can't possibly know about.

How do you know his wife wasn't the one who turned him in? We can make all the assumptions we want, and this is EXACTLY why the case is sealed in order to protect the integrity of it. Don't want evidence tainted with speculation and false evidence and assumptions.
Well I have thought from the beginning they never gave enough footage of the man and they never gave enough audio of the man who could identify this person with nanoseconds of information and no other details that's what caused it 6 years the public maybe could have helped if they wouldn't have been so damn greedy with the details
Perhaps you missed something. From the video and now the face of the suspect. It just doesn't fit. Can you make this suspect walk the bridge? Like the video of this suspect walking . That guy definitely had a limp or something strange. I also think he visited other parks during that time. Outside Indy. Can you make him walk on that bridge. Re enact that moment? Unless you have positive DNA that's a different ballgame.

What the hell? They don't want to give out any information? How long is this going to take before they close this case? I just don't understand why they can't give the public some information about the suspect and why they think he is involved. Instead they just talk about how they worked diligently every day. Because 1. Everyone has a Constitutional right to a fair trial untainted by outside influence and false evidence. 2. They are sealing the case to protect the evidence held by the DA to make sure they have a rock solid prosecution.
It's frustrating, but this process is smart and guarantees that justice is served for those two girls.

They said it was because it was getting cold and dark well that's exactly why they needed to find the girls and as far as dark they have lights that are brighter than a football field lights they could have continued that search and maybe found the girls before it was too late
