You should really watch the how to train your dragon shows. There are also a lot of how to train your dragon short films. They all happen between the first and the second movie.
Toothless could fly just fine in the first movie before Hiccup shot him down. He injured his tail. Without his "tail fin" he cannot fly on his own. It will not grow back. That's why Hiccup losing his foot was symbolic.
@@Mothobius When Hiccup shot him down he hurt him. That's why he could fly before. Hiccup is the reason it happened. He even said that in this movie when his mother asked if Drago had hurt Toothless. He said "I was the one who shot him down" as in he hurt him.
This is an absolute perfect movie! Everything about it is amazing. It takes the messages of the first film and flips it upside the head (goes from diplomacy being possible to sometimes not being able to reason with your enemies), builds on the world the first film made, took some ballsy risks, and furthered the arcs of the main characters. This is not to mention the near-perfect writing and beautiful animation it has to offer. The characters are just as likable as ever, it has a lot more emotion than the first, and the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless is still there.
25:45..... ok let me clarify. The Night Furry is like top 5 strongest dragons out of all. Maybe even the strongest or 3rd place. Notice how in the first movie it kept giving advice on how to kill other dragons but the Night Furry was "pray and hope it doesn't find you". Toothless beat the alpha, the big gray dragon (aka the red death) from the first movie, he's one of the fastest and strongest, he's smart, he is basically dragon Hercules. Hiccup (the weakest at the time) got the strongest (or one of) dragons. PS: the tailfin Toothless lost wasn't a birth defect of anything like that. Hiccup shot Toothless down in the first movie and he lost it like that. If Toothless still had it, he would be even stronger. The tailfin lost was like a nerf basically.
Him losing his tail fin isn't a nerf at all. If anything, he can go even faster. That was one of the things in a episode of Race To The Edge or Riders of Berk or Defenders of Berk.

Since Hiccup is older, I'm sure he made an improved version and he can go faster than he could. And even then, Toothless is almost never flying without Hiccup anyway.

Toothless is and always has been a VERY powerful dragon because he is a Night Fury,Night Furies have always been the most powerful out of all dragons,Toothless used to be able to fly on his own,but when Hiccup caught him in the first movie,the ropes ended up tearing off the other part of Toothless's tail that why he needs Hiccup to fly with him now because the new tail that he has is controlled by Hiccup,that's why Toothless has so much machinery on him it's because Hiccup uses that as a way to control Toothless's tail because that specific tail is not apart of Toothless's body so he can't control it on his own.Just letting you know that Toothless is and was VERY powerful.
Though one thing to consider is that toothless has been alone for pretty the first 15 years of his life with no other night furies to teach him just how powerful he can be

There's been a theory that Drago's cloak is actually made from the scales of a Nightfury, I mean it makes a lot of sense, Nightfurys are the only species of dragon that have pitch black scales as far as I know
Billy, Hiccup injured Toothless' tail at the start of the first movie when he shot him out of the sky. That's why he's missing half of it. He'll always need Hiccup to fly, basically.

It really helps to see the series, for, it explains all the new dragons species they discover seen in this movie, especially the bewilder beast. Even Hiccups mother is shown in the end of the series, taking the bewilderbeast egg. And yes, it shows how Hiccup created his flame-sword, explosive gas bombs, and flight suit.
Fun reaction. I think you should rewatch the first one. They really get into the dragon types, and Toothless is a night-fury He's badass. He didn't get a new power he just used it well. Plus you should rewatch it cuz it's so fun :)

has someone not explained to billy that the reason toothless needs a rider is that the tail fins control the up/down/left/right movement in flying? the prosthetic makes the tail whole, but it still needs someone to move it to direct which way toothless flies. that's why hiccup has the whole saddle and peddle wt cables running to the tail fin contraption that he built in the 1st movie and they had to practice together so that hiccup knows which ways to move it to make the dragon turn where he needs to.
Ahh, HTTYD 2. My favorite movie of the trilogy. It also has the best scores of music. And it's doubly funny that Astrid said "don't you know anything" to Eret because the person who voices Eret is Kit Harrington and he played Jon Snow in Game of Thrones.
Fun fact :3 about 6 minutes in, when Astrid is imitating Hiccup, that scene was entirely improvised by the voice actors in the studio and the animation was made to fit the recording

Pssst you should check out the how to train your dragon series race to the edge, genuinely amazing I loved it so much. Fills in inbetween the two films from starting when the teens are about 17/18 and honestly I loved all the characters so much. Also has a really really good antagonist

Please watch Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. It is a severely underrated movie has excellent musical numbers that I think you'd really enjoy. Also I highly suggest watching Sister Act 1 and 2. Both of them have great music and lots of comedy. And to answer your question with the pets, I do or at least I give then kisses on the forehead and they sometimes lick my cheek. My first dog is happy to do it he loves attention. My second dog does it like once in a blue moon, when she doesn't she just looks at me with a pitiful look on her face.

While I know you'd never get around to it, the best way to appreciate the second movie is to watch all the TV-series they made which covers the time between the first and second movie. It slowly plays out the Hiccup/Astrid romance as likely the best romantic couple in TV/Movie that I've ever seen.

Drago actually died at the end. When the dragon dived into the water, Drago was on its head. So he got basically slapped really hard onto the water and died

Please watch Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. It is a severely underrated movie has excellent musical numbers that I think you'd really enjoy. Also I highly suggest watching Sister Act 1 and 2. Both of them have great music and lots of comedy.
And to answer your question with the pets, I do or at least I give then kisses on the forehead and they sometimes lick my cheek. My first dog is happy to do it he loves attention. My second dog does it like once in a blue moon, when she doesn't she just looks at me with a pitiful look on her face.

While I know you'd never get around to it, the best way to appreciate the second movie is to watch all the TV-series they made which covers the time between the first and second movie. It slowly plays out the Hiccup/Astrid romance as likely the best romantic couple in TV/Movie that I've ever seen.
