Drago's "bad dragon" he rides acts like that and listens to him because he raised him from an egg. You can actually see a slight hesitation in his dragon's actions when Draco drops the staff at 31:26-31:37 and how he doesn't react immediately. Drago's dragon finally stopped listening to him once Toothless became the new Alpha of all of the dragons. Fun fact: You keep saying it and it is true. Toothless‘s animations are inspired by cats. They wanted to make him as cute as possible and they thought That baby cats are the most cute living beings so That was the inspiration and the goal.
When this notification popped up I thought it said “how to drain your dragon” and I think that means whatever Alex has that makes him the way he is has spread
It definitely has, because this was hard to read. Punctuation is useful, without it I just have to guess where it should to go: comprehension becomes trial and error.
1st Movie - Parents learn to listen to new ideas. (we don't have to fight) 2nd Movie - Kids learn to listen to experience. (sometimes we have no choice but to fight)
The thing I love most about the story of movie 1 and 2, is the character development of Stoic and Hiccup. In a way they very much mirrored eachother; Stoic in the first movie wouldn't listen to Hiccup, which nearly cost him Hiccup, as his wish for killing the dragons put Hiccup in a life threatening situation, meanwhile Hiccup needed to do something drastic to prove himself and get his father to listen to him. In the second movie, Hiccup isn't listening to his father's warning of Draco, and gets himself put in an even more dangerous situation. So his father, because of the person he is and of his fear of losing Hiccup due to his mistake from the first movie, looses his life. Which Hiccup now has to live with and grow from. I think its an amazing parallel.
I don't think that was excessive in explaining how badly a dog owner feels when realizing how poorly scolding was as a reaction, all you did was scare your baby and immediately resent yourself to a degree parallel to a child😂
also interesting fact drago can control his alpha because he trained it from when it was a small baby using pain its the same way they used to train elephants the animal is smart enough to understand that if it sees the bullhook (the hook he waves around while shouting) and hears drago scream he better obey or there could be pain but the animal isn't smart enough to reassess the situation and that it is bigger then drago or the trainer so it simply just remembers i do as I'm told or hell use the hook to cause me great pain like when i was very small. also i love the little details in this movie like how we see papa hiccup and drago fighting mirroring the alphas fighting and it also explains why mamma hiccup liked the alpha so much it was essentially a dragon version of her husband (a strong leader who protects his own, with the shape of a big beard). also that the alpha loses his horn arm mirroing that drago lost his left arm (same as how hiccup lost his leg on the same side as toothlesses tail fin)
A little note about Dragos alpha, he had found the alpha from before it was hatched and it was quite literally abused and scared into submission, it basically grew up knowing to fear and obey drago. So definitely not the dragons fault

The 2nd How to Train Your Dragon was probably one of my favorite movies ever... and I am 40 year old. There is no greater story plot in two movies except for Back to the Future 2 and Aliens. Greatest all time second movie of a trilogy ever.

The teaser for this movie was the scene of Hiccup and Toothless flying over the ocean and into the clouds to that one shot of Hiccup taking his helmet off, the entire fandom went completely rabid. I'm still standing by the fact that we had to wait 5yrs for it.
I hate that this didn't make the edit, but at 5:50 when Astrid kissed Hiccup, she was grossed out because Toothless had just licked Hiccup and Hiccup never washed off the slimy saliva.
You do know that the book and the movies are very different. I would say that the books are used for inspiration in the series, while in the movies only the characters and the dragons are used as inspo. The 2nd and 3rd movie storylines were literally created by the writers at DreamWorks, they even showed the scripts to the author before they went ahead with the animation.
@@krishnaparasar3568 You should read the books. The way I see it is that each movie followed the story of each Hiccup. The one who gets Toothless is actually Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. The first two movies are loosely based off the stories of Hiccup the first and Hiccup the second. So while they are very different indeed, they movie writers did not make those stories up themselves and just based them on the characters.
"Did nobody learn anything from not listening to Hiccup in the first movie?" Yes, they did. But Hiccup needs to learn to listen as well. Just because something worked once doesn't mean it will work again, especially when someone is telling you they know how the person you are up against is and you don't.
22:16 "I have the sense that one of them is going to die..." Me: (maniacal laughter in the distance, rememebring how he said in the firsy movie he wouldn't mind if Stoick died)
HELL YEAH!!! Also once you finish that, I definitely recommend watching the “Race to the Edge” tv series and even the specials like Legend of the Boneknapper, Gift of the Night Fury, Homecoming, etc.
4:55 funny you should mention that, because this movie was made when Dreamworks had done a complete overhaul to their animation and rendering software, with one of the major improvements being facial muscle deformation.
As visually beautiful as this movie is, Alex is going to lose his mind with the 3rd film - The Hidden World is a technical marvel of 3D animation and every single scene has so much detail, stunning dynamic lighting, and such realistic camera work that its literally awe-inspiring.
The 3rd movie will make you cry tears of sadness and joy Also, if you watch the TV series Riders of Berk (2 seasons) and the most important series Race to the Edge (6 seasons) you will see when they meet Skullcrusher and other dragons, and at the end of the series how it ties into the 2nd movie.
if you pay close attention you can actually see that the 'bad' alfa does have a look of guilt on his face after seeing Toothless kill Stoick. its really fast but you can see it
The animation in these movies is absolutely incredible. Each one introduced totally revolutionary techniques that have become industry standard, but were revolutionary at the time: the fire in particular was INSANELY advanced, but also things they did to Toothless's rig to make him move the way they do, things like the physics simulations for sand/dirt/snow, and various lighting and atmospheric techniques to make the flight scenes look as good as they do were all absolutely jaw-dropping. They're still incredibly impressive today, but when they came out? Nobody had even IMAGINED 3-d animated movies pulling off some of the things the HTTYD trilogy does.

the way the bewilderbeast look at volka is an incredible detail
Stoick's death absolutely traumatised me as a kid...
The teaser for this movie was the scene of Hiccup and Toothless flying over the ocean and into the clouds to that one shot of Hiccup taking his helmet off, the entire fandom went completely rabid. I'm still standing by the fact that we had to wait 5yrs for it.
“I love Stoic but I feel like his breath smells like shit”
My soul fuckin left me🤣🤣🤣
I hate that this didn't make the edit, but at 5:50 when Astrid kissed Hiccup, she was grossed out because Toothless had just licked Hiccup and Hiccup never washed off the slimy saliva.
the amount of tears and goosebumps alex is going to have for the third one, will be nuts.
At the end of the movie in the dragon racing Hiccup put the black sheep into Astrid's basket
You will not be disappointed by the 3rd. This is one of the rare SOLID trilogies.
When he kept saying, “I wouldn’t know what to do if I had to write a second movie.” I just kept thinking, ‘well, they did go off of books’
Fun fact: the guy who voices Eret is Kit Harington who plays John Snow in Game of Thrones!!
Now you just have to watch animated series.
It's called Riders of the Berk and Race to the edge.
It's a masterpiece.
"Did nobody learn anything from not listening to Hiccup in the first movie?"
Yes, they did. But Hiccup needs to learn to listen as well. Just because something worked once doesn't mean it will work again, especially when someone is telling you they know how the person you are up against is and you don't.
Big props to the editor of this video.
11:36 Breaks my HEART EVERY-TIME
8:14 "Are there such things as bad dragons?" I'm dead
22:16 "I have the sense that one of them is going to die..."
Me: (maniacal laughter in the distance, rememebring how he said in the firsy movie he wouldn't mind if Stoick died)
Yes
stoick is one of my favorite characters, and easily one of my favorite media dads
HELL YEAH!!!
Also once you finish that, I definitely recommend watching the “Race to the Edge” tv series and even the specials like Legend of the Boneknapper, Gift of the Night Fury, Homecoming, etc.
I’ve seen each of the movies more than ten times and I still get chills for every movie
Did you notice how they betrayed themes of the first two movies in the third one?
The random beef he has with the dreamworks logo is so funny😭
4:55 funny you should mention that, because this movie was made when Dreamworks had done a complete overhaul to their animation and rendering software, with one of the major improvements being facial muscle deformation.
Did you know there’s actually a series on Netflix called dragons race to the edge which is basically when they’re teenagers
As visually beautiful as this movie is, Alex is going to lose his mind with the 3rd film - The Hidden World is a technical marvel of 3D animation and every single scene has so much detail, stunning dynamic lighting, and such realistic camera work that its literally awe-inspiring.
I love how hiccup defeats drago using all of the weapons that mimic his friends’ dragons’ powers. Like they’re still fighting with him, in a sense.
I wanna say that the editor did a great job 🎉
20:36 when gobber says he never married that other reason was confirmed that hes gay
Yeah him and Snotlout were, Snotlout was actually Bi though
everyone deserves to be traumatised by this film at least once in their life
These movies are so great and beautiful, never fail to make me emotional
The 3rd movie will make you cry tears of sadness and joy
Also, if you watch the TV series Riders of Berk (2 seasons) and the most important series Race to the Edge (6 seasons) you will see when they meet Skullcrusher and other dragons, and at the end of the series how it ties into the 2nd movie.
31:42 "He just got Walt Disney'd" don't do him like that 😂😂😂
"Who's fucking with vikings on the backs of dragons?"
Me who's seen the shows: A lot. A lot of people.
Toothless is so cute too. I just can’t stop watching him. I watch him every day.
I love the editors notes on the top corner. Genuinely makes the vids 10 times better
if you pay close attention you can actually see that the 'bad' alfa does have a look of guilt on his face after seeing Toothless kill Stoick. its really fast but you can see it
"Drago sounds like he sucks".
Me: you have no idea.
Alex asking about "Bad Dragons" scared me. Stay innocent Alex, stay innocent.
LOL, my head went there to like oh Alex you clueless man you
Just to clarify that site does sell regular clothing... with the brand name on it of course
its nice to see the mom twist work on someone. it was part of the trailer for the movie, in case anyone managed to forget
12:53 Alex gasping in shock while being in-sync with the choir in the background is certainly a highlight
I love these movies. If you felt like crying in this one wait for the next one. I cry every time I watch it.
My face hurts, grinning/smiling/laughing along with you!
*OUTSTANDING* 'Reaction' to a Series of movies that totally earns respect/adoration!
Thank you!
all the freaking movies are honestly so god damn good. Like legit I don't think anyone is bad. you're gonna LOOOOVE the third
Toothless moved so much like a cat! I’d read a while ago that it’s because one of the animators has a black cat that behaves just like that
11:18 "Statue of Liberty from Hell" XD
Haven't heard that one before lmao
Can you blame Tuffnut? Look at the other two choices she has for potential mates!
