You were actually right about Toothless' babies being called nightlights! That is what they are canonically called! ^v^
Really?! I only saw his reaction to this tonight and never knew about the babies' names! That's so cool! 😁
Lightnights?
@@En...enzoplease No no. Nightlights! Perfect name! 🥰🥰
@@Vocalovely yea yours is better
@@En...enzoplease OMG I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE THAT WAS SO SMART!!
You need to watch the short with Hiccup and Toothless' kids meeting, it's so cute
20:25 - Very few people realize or comment on the fact that Grimmel is what Hiccup would have become if he'd not spared Toothless. A powerful point made just a little to subtly.
Finally someone else's said it
Yeah exactly
This movie is litterally Hiccup vs Hiccup
Yup
hmm.... I think you might be onto something with this... or just on something. Can't decide yet. 🤔🤣🥰
dude this fact gave me chillls. holy shit
7:58 That was the angriest “OH MY GOD HE‘S SO FUCKING CUTE“ I have ever heard
FR 🤣
32:38 they actually did come back for christmas, theres a small special about toothless visiting them for christmas
When he said that I was like “how does he know”
He needs to see this special, it's so heartwarming!
it's HTTYD: Homecoming, no its not a Spider-Man Homecoming joke, that's actually the title
It's also a cute thing to watch along with the trilogy and it takes place just before the ending
snoggletog* not christmas
'Cute aggression', that's the name of the phenomenon you experience when you see Toothless, look it up! It's been observed that a lot of people feel this when they see cute animal photos and videos on the internet. You want to cuddle them so badly, but you can't, and that makes you mad!
Weird human phenomenon, to like something so much you want to kill it from how overwhelmed you feel. Humans are so bad at managing their own feelings lmao.
Cute aggression is our brains response when we see something cute, its to make sure we are able to take care of them; otherwise they would be too cute for us to handle. Also why they come out a little ugly, then start becoming cute as they grow.
Hey Guys! Editor here, I hope you all enjoyed the How To Train Your Dragon journey with Alex and I! It was a fun one so much love!
Nice Editor’s Notes. (Also the video was great.)
Amazing job, it was wonderful! Thanks so much for all your hard work!! 🎉
🎉👏
You really did a great job editing, and here's hoping Alex does the miniseries soon 🤞
u rock
That outburst of "aaWWW HE'S SO F***ING CUTE" floored me Alex 😂😅 and yes, we agree. Great reaction as always
31:53 the reverse of that first ever touch 😭 💔
😭😭😭
The ending touch made me cry as much as the first touch made me smile
I KNOW!! I cried so hard
Yeah I cried
OUCH, THANKS FOR BREAKING MY HEART INTO PIECES 😭😭
For my history nerds who like researching, there is a village of vikings that did dissappear and were never found. The village was found completely abandoned with their things in tact and inside their homes.
Creepy, was there any good theories on what they think happened to them?
Yeah, its almost identical to the lost village of Roanoke here in America. Croatoan carved into a single tree, nobody knows what it means. Gone overnight, similarities are as strange as the disappearance.
@@matthewpalmer3477 I mean isn’t that mystery basically solved? Most likely they wrote Croatoan because they left their settlement to join the Croatoans.
@@sunnivab1357 Actually no. I did a thing in school on this, and it goes really deep, but most random pieces of evidence lead people down rabbit holes, and there is no solid theory on what happened.
whats the name of this island/community.
fun fact, my cat actually does play fetch. not as much as he used to, but he's done it since he was a kitten.
Mine too.
I had a cat that would play fetch with scrunchies. It'd fling them across the room and he'd run and bring them back. We'd play like that for hours. The cats I have now don't play fetch as much as that one did but they still play it a little bit
Yeah, my 19 year old black cat plays fetch with those little foam soccer balls they sell in packs...he used to do it for HOURS...now, he just needs 2-3 good throws and he is good.
Mine does as well
3 out of 4 cats I’ve had have played fetch lol it’s the cutest thing watching them carry stuff back to you in their mouths
34:59 If you do want more, there is a short film called How To Train Your Dragon: Homecoming that features the baby Nightlights and shows more of Hiccup and Astrid's kids at Christmas time.
8:42 The Light Fury "disappears" because her scales refract light when she uses her plasma blast that eventually causes her to become invisible.
11:47 The dragons Grimmel has are called Deathgrippers, their "fire" is a type of corrosive acid that catches fire on on certain materials. They also have pinchers as front feet so they can catch their pretty (other dragons) and use their venom from their fangs or tail to immobilize their prey.
34:25 In case you're wondering, the Nightlight's names are; the females name is Dart (black and white with blue eyes), the two males; Ruffrunner (black and white with green eyes), and Pouncer (white and black with green eyes).
Sorry I know this is long but thank you for reading
Note, also, that Grimmel's Deathgrippers were subdued by him using doses of their own venom, which over time has left them so brain-damaged that no Alpha can get through to them. It also leaves them drooling mindless idiots, acting purely on reflex and his commands. Even for habitual dragon-eaters, it's *horrible* what he did to gain control over them, and unlike the Dark Alpha from the 2nd movie (who can briefly be seen living in the Hidden World, free of Drago and at peace at last), there was no freeing them in any way save a mercy kill. Burn in hell, Grimmel. 😠
“She’s totally attracted to unavailable men”
Never has a sentence out of Alex’s mouth described me so accurately
I’m suuuuuupper busy
@@PizzaHutCEONoice 👌 😂
I'm emotionally unavailable, that count? 😂

That's a you problem
I remember watching this with my son and absolutely SOBBING when I realized it was a metaphor for a parent letting their child go into the world on their own. I'm not ready!
"I need more!"
Well Alex, if you really do need more of these characters, there are 2 (or I guess arguably 3) TV series that you can also check out. Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge.
Now, Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk are technically two seasons belonging to the same show and that series takes place literally just after the first movie. Race to the Edge takes place 3 years after that and 2 years before the second movie. Both these TV shows, especially Race to the Edge are very good! They flesh out the side characters more, take us to new locations, show us TONS of new and amazing dragons and have some badass villains! If you really do want to see more from this franchise, I would highly recommend checking out those TV series!
Someone up this please 😭❤️
Up it urself, Miss@@ashleyhaiumy4196
I second this
WE DONT TALK ABOUT THE THIRD ONE
Yes and there are no others that need to be mentioned
None whatsoever
If you want more, I recommend the Netflix series on how to train your dragon, it's called Race to the Edge, it's a series that tells what happened after the first movie, until before the second, and how Stoick got his dragon.
What about Riders of Berk, and Gift Of The Night Fury. I barely hear people talk about them or see people react to them.
@@TalchoTPZF2 Yeah, its amazing too
Defenders of Berk too
I watched this in Theaters and was so bliwn away. Most of the audience gasped when the hidden world was introduced. I cried so hard when Stoic was shown in the memories.
I watched it in theaters too! I even brought my Toothless Build-A-Bear with me lol
I remember going with my little sister and as an adult now I've never not cried at a kids movie at some point 😂. Especially the HTTYD movies. All of them. Cried when we thought Hiccup died. Cried when Stoic died, and when Toothless saved Hiccup AGAIN from being a Viking ice cube. And now this one! I'm bound to cry just watching this video!
Same! I was in the theaters with my mom, I remember everyone awing and gasping when the nightlights popped up on the last scene. I remember I kept talking about the movie for ages afterwards, especially cause of the nightlights xD. Wish I could get back the excitement I had the day we went to the movies, I still get excited anytime I watch any httyd movie but that first excitement is something different.
I was not fortunate enough to see the first one in theaters, but the two sequels, first chance I got. All of them have such grounded moments that really engage the feels, none more so than the Hidden World.
That memory of Stoick and Hiccup missing Valka gets me every time. The scene where they enter the hidden world, between the visuals and the absolutely heart tearing soundtrack by John Powell is enough to shatter me to pieces. And I've never been much of a crier. But the HTTYD movies, they do things to me.
@SergeyPupkoMusic I didn't see the first one in theaters either. My mom got it mailed in through Netflix (when they used to do that lol) and when it came in I was actually grounded! I begged my mom to hold on to the movie until I was ungrounded and she did, and ever since then I've been hooked on the franchise. I even took my mom out to see HTTYD 2 on her birthday lol!
This is a rare occurrence when every entry in a trilogy is literally perfect.
1:44, notice Hiccup fights holding his sword in his left hand. That’s a nice nod to the books given they make it a big deal that Hiccup is left-handed
I'm pretty sure they show he's left handed in all the movies and even the show series
@@demonicangel2700 yeah, in the fisrt one you can see hiccup drawing toothless with his left hand
Which is funny cause we all know Left handed people are in their Right minds
I haven’t read the books but love the movies and show. So I guess this is kinda a dumb question😂 but are the books worth it
@@ajandrianjafymusic Yes. The books are worth it
For more HTTYD... there is a series. I think it was called: Dragons: Race to the Edge
But before ther is dragong defenders of berk
Man Alex choking on his drink is the type of vibes I’m on today 😭😭
That happens more than I'd like to admit 😂
I legit thought it was scripted at first 💀
What you’re experiencing is called cuteness aggression which is the result of perceiving something cute that triggers a reaction that is perceived as aggression when really it’s just the need to protect said cute thing.
Wall.e triggers the same reaction for me. 😂 he's just TOOOOOOO CUUUUUUTE
I like how close Alex got to guessing the ending about halfway through the video he's definitely getting better at determining story writers and directors
And guessing the Nightlights right off the bat😂
6:50 Yup, cats do in fact play fetch, at least some of them. I had a Norwegian Forest Cat who played fetch when she was a kitten, she used to bring things back to me when I threw them. When she got older, she still chased after things I threw, but by that time she was too lazy to bring them back 😸How To Train Your Dragon, what a trilogy. One of my most favorite movie franchises of all time. 16:35 Yeah, thanks a lot for that image in my head, Alex 😁 27:25 Hiccup and Astrid are my favorite movie couple, end of story. The hidden world is a giant cave with a waterfall, in the middle of the ocean, if I remember correctly, something like that actually exists, can't remember where, though.
34:57 oh, so you need more? Well... you know, there's 8 seasons of the DreamWorks Dragons series ;)
I've been asking about them in every reaction comments
This show is good? I never give a try
@@luccasluz6855 "shows" plural, more than one
@@luccasluz6855 I really liked it. The animation is a bit different, and not as good as for example in the third movie (since it's a show, obviously), but it is still very good and the story is very nice. Also, the whole Hiccstrid thing gets explored more there, so it's a W for me :)
@@luccasluz6855 the side characters are developed (The Twins turned out to be my favorite characters in those shows) and everything gets more developed, they are definitely worth it

@@michaelshelton8802It still deserves a t-shirt.
"This is the best trilogy" I agree. This is the only animated trilogy that I have seen where the story progressed, in a great way. You weren't left feeling like it was lacking when it came to an end in the last movie. Sure they could make another, but you dont feel like it is needed.
The “there were dragons when I was a boy” line is the very first and very last line of the original book series.
If you think the bad guy in this is good you need to watch the tv shows, race to the edge has one of the best villains I’ve ever seen though you need to watch riders/defenders of berk first, there’s also multiple shorts to watch as well.
Fr, Viggo was dope
Don’t forget the game rise of berk
Hey Alex, if you want more how to train your dragon content, I would recomend "Race to the edge".
Its a TV show that takes place between the first and second movie, and its really fun. It adds fun new antagonists and explores lots of the world building, I'd recommend it!
32:37
Funny you say that, because there was a christmas special where they came back, for a little bit.
Well mostly the Nightlights sneaking out and watching Berk get together for Snoggletog
Actually there's episode versions named also a sequence called how to train your dragon homecoming
1) gift of the night fury
2) riders of berk
3) race to the edge

Spot on dude.
Best trilogy ever, always tears me up.
Alex, you guessing Toothless's offspring names out of nowhere... *French kiss* beautiful!! Nightlights are the cutest thing ever!! Also any chance doing the mini series between the first and second movie? Please?

- Riders/Defenders of Berk
- Race to the Edge
As part of our Senior Yearbook, seniors were asked to take pictures of them and their friends hanging out(to show the bonds we share). Me and my friends went to see this movie and took pictures. One of the best experiences in my life. We all teared up at the end. The caption under the picture in the yearbook even said, "bonds that last forever" and how true it is.
Also i would recommend watching The Lord of the Rings and The Impossible. Both fantastic stories.
Yess, I have watched race to the edge a couple times, and it's so good! I have ordered riders/defenders on DVD, because there are no streaming services in Europe that have it. So excited for it!
He really really need to watch the tv series

30:13 the concerned “what??😧” is everything
I am so glad I saw it in cinema! The moment when Hiccup and Astrid fly to the hidden world for the first time, it's stunning!
watching it in cinema was soo good, the end of this movie is just perfect and beautiful, i can safely say that this movie made me cry

>Race to the Edge (takes place in between 1 and 2)
Gift of the Night Fury and HTTYD: Homecoming as well
@@theamazingspooderman2697 OH YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, HOW COULD I FORGET THOSE
Tim Conway's last acting roles were voice acting in these, as a Berk Viking.
@theamazingspooderman2697 Thank you, someone recommending Gift Of The Night Fury.
The dragons are based off of both cats and dogs, and actually they show traits of other animals as well. Super cool concept.
If this movie doesn't make you cry, you have no heart. It's all good
Didn't make me cry, I don't like how the characters are acting in this movie, everyone is out of character, especially Toothless. And the light fury's design is too feminine for a reptile. I don't want to go on a rant but this movie was just off to me and I'm not the only one who thinks that, a RUclipsr goes more in depth with that. It was just a bad way to end franchise like in the books, all I got from the ending is just give up, your dream won't come true. And whatever the antagonists name is isn't a good villain, not at all interesting like Viggo, Krogan and Draggo. Also, Toothless' behavior in this movie is awful.
I love how we all always cry together at the ending :')
After this you should watch how to train your dragon tv series which are called . Rise of berk . Defenders of berk . Race to the edge . You will love them . And this is the right order too .
And after that, the '4th' series The Nine Realms.
Small correction riders, not rise, but yes, absolutely!
@@VinnesRC okay thanks
@@beastdude we don't talk about that
Just don't watch the nine realms. It'll give you terminal cancer.
Some cats *do* play fetch.
I had one that would go crazy with a little bouncy ball (the kind you use you play beer pong). You would throw it, it would bounce, and the cat would go, "hunt" it, catch it, and then it would return it to you to keep going
This is my favorite "How to train your dragon" movie. A perfect ending. 😭💖🔥
I find it funny how you said can the dragons at least come home for Christmas when there is a short movie type deal called homecoming that is about them at Christmas after the dragons left. i watched it and it is really good I recomend

Well I would say thats understandable
this is the best reaction that i've seen for the trilogy of HTTYD and i feel like i'm watching with a friend with how fun and relatable his reactions are. i love it!
i hope he'll watch shrek too if he hasn't yet 😭
Hey, Alex, Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge are both a series that go in-between the movies. Defenders of Berk is still when Hiccup and the others are still kids and Race to the Edge is when they're older, before the second movie. They are both good but Race to the Edge is especially great. You should watch them if you want more HTTYD content. There are fun storylines, new great characters, new dragons for you, and the relationship between Astrid and Hiccup develops throughout and it is just so good, more people should talk about it.
You actually got the names right for the babies! They’re canonically called ‘Night Lights’!
24:06 on the left is the Beweilder Beast from the second movie.....
ALSO-
Just FYI if your interested: HTTYD Trilogy:
- HTTYD 1
- Dreamworks Dragons
- Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury
- Dragons: Race To The Edge
- HTTYD 2
- HTTYD 3: The Hidden World
- HTTYD: Homecoming
- Dragons: Rescue Riders
- Dragons: The Nine Realms
I would be happy to watch any of these with you they are all special in their own way even if they aren't original. How To Train Your Dragon Will Forever Be In Our Hearts & Be In The Hall Of Fame!
Rescue Riders is a show aimed at preschoolers and Dean Deblois confirmed that it is not canon. As for The Nine Realms, we all know how much that shit butchers the main story. Need I remind you that Tom FED HICCUP'S FUCKING LEG TO A FUCKING DRAGON. Aside from those two, all the rest of the franchise is good to watch.
There are two short films that are the same quality as the movies. 1st one being "Gift of the Night Fury" and then "Homecoming". I highly suggest you watch those!
Both of those are well worth watching. Gift of the Night Fury always has me bawling like a baby. And I'm a grumpy midwesterner in my 60's :)
18:58 When I was a kid, I traveled to Norway to visit a friend, and I saw the northern lights from the window of my airplane. It was on the other side of the plane from my seat, and there were a bunch of people crowding the windows so I didn’t really get a good look, plus I had a shitty Nokia phone at the time so I couldn’t get any good quality pictures. But just being able to see glimpses of it was cool enough.
It is one of my bucket list items... I need to see it with my own eyes. No doubt it'll be a spiritual experience for me and permanently burn into my mind.
Usually movie reactions dont make me cry, but this movie made me cry so much that your reaction also made me cry. Such an amazing trilogy. Favorite dragon movies by far.

YESSSS MORE HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON LOVE YOUR VIDS
Edit: the intro was so funny 😂
there's a christmas special that you need to see! along with both of the series!!!
this movie really gives you that hope that all dragons and humans will move together to the Hidden World but as soon as the movie goes on, we all know whats gonna happen at the end, and thats beautiful and sad at the same time
PLEASE WATCH THE SERIES! Skip to Race To The Edge if you want better graphics.. but seriously the story is just as good and it gives more background lore! It takes place inbetween movies 1 and 2 so you'll get more of Stoic and Hiccup and his friends and it really fleshes them all out in the greatest way!
I still blows my mind that there´s an 8 season long (or even 10?) series which takes place between the first and second movie and really is able to flesh out the characters even more. Not the greatest series ever, but still a satisfying watch with at least 20 jaw dropping episodes which are as epic as the movies. Granted, there´s filler especially in the early and later seasons, but when the series was on point from season 2-6 it was a feast for sore eyes.
It was a great series. If they adele more of movies or shows I am first in line!
Your reactions through the whole movie was just the best!
Also for those who didn't know the light fury and night fury are two different species!
“At least the dragons come back for Christmas or smth” oh pls watch httyd Homecoming lol
"at least are the dragons coming for Christmas?" wellllllllll
Alex you made me bloody cry!
There's a beautiful little Christmas special that explains why Hiccup, Astrid and their kids go out to find Toothless and his family. You'd love it❤
We have been blessed with another Alex reaction lets gooo
I find it so funny of how badly cute aggression affects him
6:51 toothless's movements are based on both cats and dogs. not sure about the other dragons but probably
32:36 the way there is a literal christmas short where toothless' kids go to berk
one of the few trilogies that made a perfect last part without messing it up, love those movies
One of the editors notes being “editors note: :’(“ made me laugh so hard
I don't see anyone commenting it, but the last monologue about dragons is also from the books. I highly recommend the series because it is just as good as the cinematic httyd.
(Edit: Also, if you want more, watch Race to Edge. It's really great.)
There’s a couple of tv series that take place between the movies that add a lot of context and are quite good, but the movies do a good job making sense even without having seen all the history of them.
Also, yes there’s a Christmas special that takes place years after the last movie.
My kids LOVED this series of shows and movies but also was enjoyable enough to watch for my wife and I that we didn’t mind having to have it on constantly for them
If you want more:
a) There's going to be a live action version, as you mentioned at the end, and;
b) there are several short movies and TV series connected to the main trilogy. The best of the short movies (in my opinion) is Gift of the Night Fury, and the best of the TV series is Race to the Edge, but there's plenty more as well.
I sobbed in the movie theater over this one. So glad you watched these - they've become so important to me over the years!
I was sobbing when I watched the ending for the first time
You need to watch the holiday special, "Gift of the Night Fury."
There is a Christmas special that takes place a few months before they meet toothless again. Really cute. Focuses on toothless's kids.
I love the christmas special! ❤❤❤
@@ninalily love the first one. All the baby dragons learning to fly, just so cute.
I love how Toothless and Light Fury’s animation movements are modeled after cats. For example, when Toothless is trying to impress Light Fury, she lightly smacks him in the face repeatedly just like a cat would do to another cat or their owner.
Watch race to the edge show! Its the filling in between the first and second movie. Its the best httyd show out there. In my opinion.
Also in the editors note showing the alpha from last movie, you can see other light furys, they are a separate species than night furys. But can have hybrid babys
When I first watched that movie after it came out I was crying my eyes out. I swear I never cried so hard in my entire life. This movies are my childhood and the best trilogy I ever saw. Since the ending of this movie (after being so sad for like month) I was so angry, I just couldn't accept that Toothless and Hiccup split. While watching you reacting to it I was drowning in tears (again). I'm still not ready to accept how they ended the trilogy, it's just too painful for me
You need to watch Race to the Edge it’s amazing!
Couple fun facts!!!
1) toothless is not JUST based off cats. The designers based him off the main pet types, dogs, cats, and birds, so that most pet owners would be able to see glimpses of their pets in Toothless’s looks and behaviors. So, he mimics puppies in how he wants to chew on things and chase things, and licking hiccup in the face.
2) that frustration you feel is called “cuteness aggression.” It’s why we have weird urges to squeeze puppies so hard we hurt them, or pinch babies’ cheeks, or roughly mess up their hair. Why? Well, it’s all psychology, and it’s hilarious.
When we’re sad, we cry. When we’re happy, we smile and laugh. Angry, we yell or hit things. When we have cuteness overload? Our brains don’t know how to respond. It makes our orderly brains upset that we don’t know how to react. So they get weirdly aggressive out of confused frustration 😁😂 and thus, you want throw hands with toothless. He’s too cute. He is overloading your brain.
And the little mating dance toothless attempts awkwardly is inspired form the mating dances preformed by birds of paradise in tropical regions
Now do “Race to the Edge” haha the main (and very good) HTTYD TV show (prob the best villain).
How excited you were when you came up with 'little night lights' had me dying 😂
18:55 im up in Canada and one time, almost on my brother's birthday, actually, our dad saw some northern lights while he was outside having a smoke and he called us outside and we sat outside looking at the sky until they vanished.
idk how often that kind of thing happens here but that was something to remember.
This movie holds a really special place in my heart as the only one of the trilogy that i was able to watch in cinema when it came out. Its also from a time period of my life where i went through a lot of pain and subsequent healing as several months after this movie my partner killed herself so seeing this movie and seeing a lot of the love-y themes really reminds me of her a lot. A blessing and a curse but more of the former now that some time has passed. Ill always love and miss her but this movie helped me a lot with emotional maturity and understanding, it saved me and i will always, always love it for that. Rest In Peace lily, my moonlight, 19th july 2019 ❤

The original cast plays their characters in the TV series except for Snotlout (Jonah Hill) and Stoick (Gerard Butler) but beyond those 2 characters / actors, the rest of the cast play their parts.
I promise, you won't be disappointed
Just have to say, there's a series on these movies i think it's called race to the edge and there's like 6 seasons. It's set after the first movie and it's quite good. Anyways great video 👍
You need more? -> You have to do the series when you're done with clone wars!
Whenever i watch a tv show, or movie series that i really like, and i know that there will not be anymore, it just makes me sad after the series/movie is done knowing that i cant watch anymore
So true now I watch these movies over and over again 😢❤💔
How to Train your Dragon really is the Greatest animation trilogy ever
I saw the first one when i was 13-14th like Hiccup
I grew up with him and Toothless all along with the TV series
When i saw the Hidden World in cinema .... Man that was the best experience i ever had
i cried like a baby seeing the end (and all adults men near me where crying too) and that's ok
i'm happy you apreciate the purity of this story
May i suggest you to watch the greatest live trilogy now : The Lord of The Ring (in extended edition, worth it believe me)
6:55 yep! My cats play fetch alllllll the time, I have an orange cat that does it with this little squishy ball and a tonkinese that plays fetch with his cat teaser stick, you can hear him dragging that thing over to you across the floor from another room, cute as hell
31:26 is when I start to cry. The “my good girl” from Astrid is incredible 😭
Really hope you'll consider covering the 'Kung Fu Panda' trilogy next. 🧡
