E for Earth, A for Axiom. There's something to be said that the Wall-E's were so tiny and barely able to do their jobs without breaking down while the Wall-A's were big beefy well maintained machines. Shows that B&L didn't actually care about saving earth. Also that makes me wonder if there are other ships like the Axiom out there.
@@CanisMythsonI remember hearing that the other Wall-E robots didn't break down, they were defective. There was something wrong with them that caused them to short circuit suddenly. The Wall-E from this movie didn't succumb to that because he was already malfunctioning (the "malfunction" being his curiosity) so his circuits and programming were too changed for the normal malfunction to happen. I don't think the Wall-Es were purposefully meant to malfunction, but it's definitely a possibility There are ships other than the Axiom. The first video in this movie with real humans says the Axiom is the "jewel of the BNL fleet". So there are other ships, but they are probably smaller and don't have as many things to do (I doubt the smaller ones have a pool). I LIKE to think that when the Axiom returned to Earth, it sent a signal to the smaller ships and they ALL returned to Earth automatically
The sociological angle is good and all, but there's other themes at play. I like when the captain learns to love life instead of survival, just as Walle loved watching his movies and dancing and collecting. And what Walle loved most of all was sharing it with Eve, and loving her. The people learned to love life and especially to love sharing it with each other. The theme is curiosity and love and togetherness as the source of happiness and growth.
@CanisMythson I wouldn't say they're ALL right. What if I said Walle is about the fun fairground food called elephant ears? That's just not true. It's barely even true about the sociological point. The movie isn't about conformity. The only one adamant about staying the course and conformity was Auto, and it was clearly irrational. The moment they turned off the screens they all became non-conformists. The struggle against Auto and conformity is a very small part of this movie.
Here's a little detail most people don't notes: Wall E and EVE don't have elbows, yet they are still able to perform multible different emotes with their arms. Another thing. All the robots have very simple faces, but you are still able to tell what they are currently thinking and feeling. Bonus info: In Wall E PS3 videogame. Wall E goes on a rampage with EVE's gun. This is not a joke.
When my favourite video store was still around I was there to rent a DVD and my favourite staffer there mentioned Wall•E in passing. I casually said I hadn't seen it yet, and she was shocked. Especially as she knew my taste in movies. She said "You're renting Wall•E today", and absolutely meant it. She got it off the shelf and did the transaction. I had no say in the matter. 🤣 The next day I thanked her. 😁
I did this with Boondock Saints. I talked it up so much and then it turned out we had none left in stock, so I ran across the street to my apartment, got my own copy, and brought it back over. The credits are absolutely worth watching! They dedicated the film to Justin Wright, an artist who worked on the film but died of a heart attack at only 27 before the film released. I believe he worked on some of the end credit animations. The credits finish the story out, I'd recommend watching them.

It takes you on a complex emotional and philosophical journey, exploring concepts of life, purpose, and death. It's so beautifully well done and thought provoking. The reason this is my favorite Pixar movie, is definitely because of how much of this movie is nonverbal. It adds to the realism of the characters, but you still understand everything that’s going on
Part of the humans being fat is the long-term effects of low gravity. We rely on our own weight and the impact of moving to keep our bones strong, and long-term astronauts have to do physical therapy after months on the ISS. The Axiom was intended to be a 5-year trip, but if you look, it's been well over 700. Humans have physically evolved to where they can't really move much, which has led to them getting fatter over time. You can see it in the wall of captains.
WALL-E is truly one of the Pixar classics of all time. It has been in my childhood for 16 years since it came out in theatres. Ben Burtt did the sounds for WALL-E just like he did for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. He's one of the best sound designers of all time.
When this movie came out I had just adopted two kittens. When it got to the part of Wall-e chasing the laser I wanted nothing more than to run out of the theater and rush home to play with those two, cute, fuzzballs.
Fun fact the creator of Wall-E, Andrew Stanton made his director debut working on “Finding Nemo” also from what I researched the concept of Wall-E came to be with a lunch discussion about people’s views of humanity and the history of art.
WALL-E is adorable. But the message in it is super important and humans should listen to it. If we don't start taking care of our home's it will one day look like this. I think so, we need to keep this place, Green.
This was my late brother’s favorite film. He was taken from us last summer, and this movie just hits different now. His favorite color was yellow too. 😢
"Spirit" is also a movie where the protagonist doesnt speak....because he's a horse. It's such a deep and beautiful animated movie with amazing songs. For me it has the same feeling like Wall-E 😊
There's a fan theory that the cups contain recycled humans. Which kinda makes sense since we don't see any food production capability. My guess is ground up humans combined with an algae protein grown on the ship.

WALL-E is one of my favourite Pixar films, it's a social commentary on the downsides of consumerism that works on so many levels, and it has something for everybody.
29:10 the realization Eve had was that by completing the directive and bringing the Axiom back to earth, they'd go to the only place she could get spare parts to repair WALL-E.
WALL-E is peak animated cinema. One of the best animated movies ever made. Visuals, Soundtrack, Characters, Story-writing, everything is perfect. One of only 6 movies I have as a DVD and I watch it at least four times a year. Only a couple animated movies reach the same level of perfection as WALL-E.
29:35 I think Otto is not realy a villain here. He was told to keep the humans away from earth because they can not life there. After that message he never gets another one. So he still thinks that he is doing the right thing.
31:18 This song is called _Also sprach Zarathustra,_ it's the main theme of _2001: A Space Odyssey._ It's the most famous movie theme in all of science fiction. But the real reason we hear it so much is that it's in the public domain - it was written in 1896! It was used as a placeholder song during the development of Space Odyssey, but they fell in love with it, and ended up using it instead of the main theme written by Alex North. They also discarded all of his other songs he wrote for the film, and used the placeholder songs for them too. He did not find out until he watched the movie at its premiere.
26:51 , I love this quote in German. It says ,,Ich möchte nicht Überleben, ich will leben!", what means, I don't want to surcive, I wont to live, only that survive is in German to survive life, but life and live are the same words here so it is really d3ep for me❤
One possible (and in my mind, likely) reason that the WALL-E who is the protagonist of this movie never completely broke down is because due to the quirk in his programming that gives him his distinctive (and awesome) personality as well as self-awareness, he is able to engage in self-preservation and repair himself using parts from other WALL-E units. Also, I think WALL-E basically just collects objects that he finds interesting. On the subject of cockroaches, are indeed known for being quite durable. And while I don't recall the exact amount of time off the top of my head, you are right that they can survive for some time without their heads. In fact, the main reason they do end up dying after losing their heads, is due to thirst. EVE was specifically sent to see if there was life on earth, which would indicate that the earth was once again capable of sustaining life and that humans could return. And you’re absolutely right about the social hierarchy. It’s definitely not a society that rewards critical thinking or deviation from the norm. It’s a very safe and intellectually sterile environment.
Glad you finally got to watch this one, it's such an awesome example that sometimes in a movie, less is more. Less dialogue ended up being much more powerful because they took to time to flesh out the characters and let them emote.
Wall-E is up at the top for me. It's an adorable movie with one of the biggest underlying messages. And the fact that two standards emotionless things can develop more personality than a normal person speaks volumes.
It’s funny that you see reason to give slack to the humans because of their “programming” by their social construct of the way things are and way to be. But A.U.T.O you thought of more readily as a villain despite also, more literally, being programmed. Not everyone can be a Wall-e. I like to think it’s because of how long he’s had to repair himself, and absorb the “parts of others” by salvaging from the artifacts of the human and robot pasts, making him aware of different paths and “directives” than his own.
I saw this in theaters and that ending had the kids screaming for Wall-E to wake up. They were DEVASTATED. When he woke up, all you could hear was clapping and “thank you Jesus”.
speaking of thinking outside the box at 21:40, walles a box and this whole movie is about walle thinking about people other than itself also, while u was talking about surviving and living, in the captain photos, you can slowly see auto creeping closer and closer to the captain to signify its influence
WALL-E is one of the best, if not the best, animated films alongside Up, Your Name, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Inside Out, and Spirited Away. 🙂
Definitely need to watch the credits. The art work during them actually tells the story of how they re-civilized themselves after returning to earth. It's that extra bit of plot closure that's so rewarding.
10:40 "Hes so fucking cute, god damn it!" You ever see something so cute you just want to squeeze it relentlessly? Or so cute you can only talk through your teeth while clenching your jaw. "SO FUCKING CUTE!"
I love how even the main villain isn't the sort you'd normally see. Most villains are out to kill, injure or enslave anyone, kill especially in the case of robots or AI. But AUTO isnt any of that. It simply follows two basic directives: keep the humans safe, and dont go back to Earth. It only starts to (slightly) deviate from directive one, after directive two took precedence.
The order of Pixar definitely starts at number 1 with Wall-E. And the play on using art history to tell their story going forward in the closing credits... so so good.
If you watch the movie with subtitles you will notice that the robots do in fact say words. some examples: 7:10 "Who are you? Who are you?" 8:30 "Directive?" 11:08 "Whoah!" Also if you notice: Wall-E is the only robot still functioning on earth. A theory is that Wall-E has something wrong with him. All the other robots act robot-like until they meet Wall-E.. Whoever Wall-E interacts with becomes more human. And once Wall-E was back on earth and "fixed" he was a robot again.. It took a spark, or "shorting a circuit" to make him become Wall-E again
I think all the experiences Wall-e had and his programming was defective in way that he wanted to live and these combined gave him actual consciousness.
There are several references to "2001: A Space Odyssey" in this movie. Both start in desolate areas, absence of dialog in the first 20 minutes, a discovery that becomes an Odyssey into space, Auto Pilot is HAL9000, "Also Sprach Zarathustra" theme music, the monitor screen coming on telling the viewer what is happening.
29:19 fun fact this score was also featured in the video game disney infinity in the toys in space story with buzz lightyear in the simulator I have it on the wii still
"Major kudos to Pixar for being able to make a roach cute" Truer words have never been spoken. I loathe those vile little critters, but in this movie, that one can stay! Just one of many reasons that I agree with the claim of best Pixar movie on the market, and that's truly saying something. Because, in line with your opening skepticism of that claim, it isn't like everything else they put out is crap.
Otto is definitely like HAL... You should watch 2001: A Space Odyssey if you haven't yet... Also, I think we're all ready for more Clone Wars too 😅 Btw... Ben Burt, who did sound design for Star Wars, had a big hand in this film
Problem with lines on the ground? You mean like roads and streets? With their own lines, lanes and direction of travel for those upon them? This movie is just mimicking modern reality with a technological advancement to it. We also have a path laid out for us. Even when reaching adulthood and having supposed freedom, the lines to follow are already drawn. Work to pay bills and taxes until they allow you to "retire." And only a few can/will deviate from that line.
One of most intriguing parts of this movie is for the entire beginning of the film it’s essentially a silent film (zero dialogue/spoken word) yet everything is conveyed so clearly and you immediately fall in love and understand the story of WallE

For me, Wall-E is probably my favorite Pixar film and consistantly brings me to tears (more happy tears). Things like Wall-E trying so hard to keep the plant detector open, the Captain breaking the mold by actually learning about their home planet, and how human the robots are. Also it is completely head-canon, but I feel like that spark is like a data transfer. Wall-E accidentally sent a copy of his personality over to EVE when they first "kiss" and she returned it later when he was reset.

"This music is from when Buzz was on the bed!" *sigh* That music is "Also Sprach Zarathustra", and was made famous in pop culture in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". In it, a strange alien presence causes terrestrial apes to artificially evolve, and that music plays when they go from unthinking quadrupeds to thinking bipeds, standing up for the first time. So, when it's used when the captain for the first time rises to his feet, it's particularly significant.
What's interesting is that the Captain himself early on you can tell he's wanted to do more he hated that some of his job what little he had was still trying to be taken over by Auto/Otto. And at the end of the movie during the credits, you also see the message wasn't ironically 'technology is bad' not just with the Wall-E and Evea, but the fact that they were also using the tech they had try and fix Earth too.

@@wavehellhole yes yes. That
There’s a deleted scene of Wall-E meeting his older cousins the Wall-A bots, the giant robots in the trash dump, he makes them a smaller trash cube and it’s adorable check it out 😭 ❤️
E for Earth, A for Axiom.
I don't think the Wall-Es were purposefully meant to malfunction, but it's definitely a possibility
There are ships other than the Axiom.
@@marieporter9488 i heard somewhere that the reason the other WALL-E's were destroyed was because of the dust storms shown at the beginning
I think that's the great thing about art, different people will see different things, have different perspectives, and they're all right.
Yes, they rediscover their own humanity
Here's a little detail most people don't notes: Wall E and EVE don't have elbows, yet they are still able to perform multible different emotes with their arms.
Another thing.
All the robots have very simple faces, but you are still able to tell what they are currently thinking and feeling.
Bonus info: In Wall E PS3 videogame. Wall E goes on a rampage with EVE's gun.
This is not a joke.

Top tier and aged like a fine wine
When my favourite video store was still around I was there to rent a DVD and my favourite staffer there mentioned Wall•E in passing. I casually said I hadn't seen it yet, and she was shocked. Especially as she knew my taste in movies. She said "You're renting Wall•E today", and absolutely meant it. She got it off the shelf and did the transaction. I had no say in the matter. 🤣 The next day I thanked her. 😁
Why was i thinking this was going to end with you saying you dated them or something like that?😂😅
Damn I miss video rentals.
I did this with Boondock Saints. I talked it up so much and then it turned out we had none left in stock, so I ran across the street to my apartment, got my own copy, and brought it back over. Gave it to the customer (he was a regular) and sure enough he brought it back my next shift. I loved that job.
The credits are absolutely worth watching! They dedicated the film to Justin Wright, an artist who worked on the film but died of a heart attack at only 27 before the film released. I believe he worked on some of the end credit animations. The credits finish the story out, I'd recommend watching them.
In Galaxy Quest, Sigourney Weaver's character repeated the computer. In WALL-E, Sigourney Weaver voiced the computer.
This is what people mean when they say, "Show, don't tell."
God, I remember just being out of the hospital from almost dying at 7y/o and seeing this movie in the theater was the first thing my mom and I did together after I left the hospital, I love this movie so much
I know right Wall-E is like my favourite movie when I was a child.
I'm convinced that RUclipsrs like you purposefully decided not to watch these childhood classics when you were a child, JUST so you could potentially watch it as your childhood dream job as a RUclipsr when you're older.

I've had plenty of friends who have no clue about classic media that everybody loves. I haven't seen a bunch of "all-time greats" either. Everyone's seen different things, and you're kind of defeating the purpose of the movie by implying that everyone must have the same experiences...
I honestly wasn't really expecting Alex to have so much thoughtful and intelligent input on the deeper meanings in this movie, but I am so pleasantly surprised! Wall-E is top tier for sure
**Editing to add that your input on this film makes me think that you would really enjoy Soul (2020)! It's one of Pixar's most amazing and underrated films imo. It takes you on a complex emotional and philosophical journey, exploring concepts of life, purpose, and death. It's so beautifully well done and thought provoking. I would love to see your reaction! ❤️

If you love the lack of dialogue you should watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. It's such a beautiful movie with an amazing soundtrack
It's not enough to pay lip service though, notice all the solar and wind power kicking around in the opening.
for, sure, man that's, a pretty, solid point💀
SUPAH green 💚
This was my late brother’s favorite film. He was taken from us last summer, and this movie just hits different now. His favorite color was yellow too. 😢

"Spirit" is also a movie where the protagonist doesnt speak....because he's a horse. It's such a deep and beautiful animated movie with amazing songs. For me it has the same feeling like Wall-E 😊

Lmao I was killing myself watching Alex lose his shit at the bull the humans got up to... to avoid getting up from their chairs.
There's a fan theory that the cups contain recycled humans. Which kinda makes sense since we don't see any food production capability. My guess is ground up humans combined with an algae protein grown on the ship.
You've just reverse-engineered the plot of Soylent Green.... 🤣
One of the systems the captain checks is a "regenerative food buffet" so it's likely they just found a way to synthesise food

Every time I rewatch wall-E it’s just a joy makes me realize how beautiful our planet is and to experience all our planet has to offer “I don’t want to survive I want to live” sometimes we get lost in our day to day that we forget to LIVE
WALL-E screaming sounds and the sounds he makes are hilarious he's funny.
Just cried my eyes out because I'm at the bottom of my anxiety depression trying to crawl up top and it is so hard to do it on my own, and then I happen to see this video and I just know that for at least the next 30 minutes Alex will make me laugh and forget and I will be a little bit more okay.
It's ok to cry Alex, I did 😂
Please watch through the credits! The evolution of art style and life progressing is amazing.

Yeah. Its kind of like Chef Skinner. Both villains are technically right from their perspectives.
It should be a law that everybody must watch Wall-E at least ONCE in their life
Twice*
Once as a kid, once as an adult. 😂😂
I own a remote control Wall-E and I'm proud of it! That's how much I love this film!
The question is, how impossible is it to make it fold up on a scale of Impossible to physics destroying?
The Lego Wall•E is precious too✨
This movie is absolutely brilliant. You'd think it's just about a cute little robot, but it's actually speaking to the Human condition on top of it.
Wall-e definetely has a prominent attribute that makes someone cute - big ass eyes. And a spark in them
Wall-E is up at the top for me.
When he woke up, all you could hear was clapping and “thank you Jesus”.
speaking of thinking outside the box at 21:40, walles a box and this whole movie is about walle thinking about people other than itself
also, while u was talking about surviving and living, in the captain photos, you can slowly see auto creeping closer and closer to the captain to signify its influence
Our boy Alex has one switch with two moods: deep thoughts or gooch and Wall-E forced him into only deep thoughts. GOAT movie.
Wall-e is my all time favorite movie. It gives me a warm peaceful feeling every time I watch it. Most nights I actually fall asleep to this movie
And Auto is the only robot with an actual robot voice. They used Apple’s new (at the time) text to voice.
This is my absolute favorite Pixar disney movie. Walle hit my heart strings so much. And my little girl loved it so much.
I think of the walle opening every time I go try to go to sleep, it helps so much...
The order of Pixar definitely starts at number 1 with Wall-E. And the play on using art history to tell their story going forward in the closing credits... so so good.
If you watch the movie with subtitles you will notice that the robots do in fact say words. some examples:
7:10 "Who are you? Who are you?"
8:30 "Directive?"
11:08 "Whoah!"
Also if you notice: Wall-E is the only robot still functioning on earth.
10:22 i think wall-E is the animated version of Alex and his wife, she's the spice and Alex the observer and caretaker. It's adorable :)
29:19 fun fact this score was also featured in the video game disney infinity in the toys in space story with buzz lightyear in the simulator I have it on the wii still
"Major kudos to Pixar for being able to make a roach cute"
Truer words have never been spoken. I loathe those vile little critters, but in this movie, that one can stay!
Just one of many reasons that I agree with the claim of best Pixar movie on the market, and that's truly saying something.
Because, in line with your opening skepticism of that claim, it isn't like everything else they put out is crap.
7:24 he says no one has spoken yet.
10 seconds earlier Eve just said: "Who are you? Who are you?"
Otto is definitely like HAL... You should watch 2001: A Space Odyssey if you haven't yet... Also, I think we're all ready for more Clone Wars too 😅
Btw... Ben Burt, who did sound design for Star Wars, had a big hand in this film
Fun fact: the Roach is actually named Hal after the silent film producer Hal Roach and as a reference to HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The music thet you referred to was originally the music to 2001: a space odyssey.

"This music is from when Buzz was on the bed!"
*sigh*
That music is "Also Sprach Zarathustra", and was made famous in pop culture in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". In it, a strange alien presence causes terrestrial apes to artificially evolve, and that music plays when they go from unthinking quadrupeds to thinking bipeds, standing up for the first time. So, when it's used when the captain for the first time rises to his feet, it's particularly significant.
The shirt is SICK!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
What's interesting is that the Captain himself early on you can tell he's wanted to do more he hated that some of his job what little he had was still trying to be taken over by Auto/Otto. And at the end of the movie during the credits, you also see the message wasn't ironically 'technology is bad' not just with the Wall-E and Evea, but the fact that they were also using the tech they had try and fix Earth too.
