It’s crazy how this film actually had a disappointing $12.4 million opening weekend, but then after that, word of mouth started to do the trick where it had four weekends that grossed above its opening weekend after the first weekend, stayed in the top ten for 13 weeks, made 14 times its opening weekend, and finished with $185.5 million domestically and $485 million worldwide. Domestically, it became DreamWorks biggest film in a decade. If Shrek 5 is on the same levels of great as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and the first two Shrek films, it’s easily going to be a billion dollar hit and the highest grossing animated film of all time.
Fun fact about Death's "I was there..." line: When Humpty said the same thing in the first movie, we were shown previous scenes from a new/different perspective, but in this movie, if you rewind to Puss's fight with the giant and look closely when the crowd does "the wave", you can find the wolf standing quietly in a dark alley just behind the crowd!
Not to mention all the other things sprinkled throughout leading to Death showing up. At the bar, Puss is on his 9th glass when the candle is blown out and Death shows ip
Antonio Banderas had a heart attack a couple of years ago and so his portrayal of Puss in this movie is something he really was experiencing. He said: 'It made me appreciate life in a completely different way and in a much more powerful way. 'It changed my life entirely and completely for good. '

1. Death actually was there to witness all of Puss' deaths. At 3:31 He is shown in the top left corner behind the crowd. 2. As an adopted kid with parents of a different race maybe I can shed some light on Goldilocks. I can’t say I’ve ever wanted to get my bio parents back because I do love my parents. But it is hard to find your place sometimes when you’re of different race but you’re raised like them. So you have trouble fitting in with the “bears” and the “humans” and sometimes you wish for that environment just so you can feel normal. It’s not an excuse for her actions, simply an explanation. It was so lovely to see Goldie’s story and watch her see her true family. Because even though it can be hard to fit in, even if you feel like a crooked piece in the puzzle. They still welcome you into the full picture with open arms. And we’re so lucky to have that ❤❤❤
Goldi's wish is to specifically have a new human family. *Why not wish to find her birth family?* Because prior to meeting the Bears, she was raised in an orphanage. *That means her family are either dead, missing, and/or willingly abandoned her.* Plus, given how sensible and pragmatic Goldilocks is, she's not going to waste her wish finding her birth parents who may not be alive or not even want her.

As the sequel of a decade old spin-off of a twenty year old franchise, this movie really didn't have to be this fire. We weren't expecting anything, Puss! Damn.
I may be reading too much into it, but Perrito's path is much darker than it seems. "Pocket full of posies" is a line from Ring 'around the Rosies, a song most often associated with the Black Plague, with the posies being a reference to the flowers that doctors used to lessen the stench of death around them. It's basically a metaphor for Perrito's optimism being a coping mechanism for his experiences with death. The "River of Relaxation" is a reference to the River Styx, the river that one must cross after death as they go into the afterlife. It's even darker considering that Perrito was nearly drowned in a river and would've "relaxed" into death had he not gotten out in time. And the "Field of Quick and Easy Solutions" sounds awfully similar to suicide: "it'll be quick and easy" and "a solution to all my problems". And considering that the other's final tests (Kitty's "Abyss of Eternal Loneliness", Puss's "Cave of Lost Souls", and Goldilocks' "Nostalgia Pines") were all used/could be used to convince them of the error of their mindsets, this sounds very bad considering Perrito's mind is in the exact opposite of suicide.
Fun fact: The wolf was whistling the song from a jack-in-the-box, meaning that we will never know when he’s going to strike. Sorry if this scares anyone😅😶
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was FANTASTIC! Easily one of the best from DreamWorks, one of the best of last year, and one of the best animated films of all time! In my opinion, this is the Top Gun: Maverick of animated sequels, because just like that film, it manages to take itself more seriously than its predecessor and shows that great sequels can take a lot of time and effort. As soon as it got to the part where Puss first encountered Death, the film transforms into a meaningful, emotional, and hilarious adventure. It blew all of my expectations away from the gorgeous and smooth animation, the wonderful characters (especially Perrito), higher stakes, a terrifying villain, and great use of humor! The ending setting up Shrek 5 also got me hyped, especially after this brought back so much goodwill for the franchise. But I hope DreamWorks takes their sweet time on it if they want to play their cards right and getting near the level of greatness as The Last Wish and the first two Shrek films.
_Corre corre, gatito._ Run Run, little cat _Perro muerto._ Dead dog The cricket’s a refrence to Jiminy Cricket from Pinnocchio _Los voy hacer a todos alfombras de baño!_ I’m gonna make you all into bathroom rugs! Death actually did pop up in the background! When Puss is fighting the giant and the crowd does the wave, you can see him in the shadows. The corners of the death number cards also show him.
Just realized this was the one time Billy ain't do his regular "big-headed girl" thingy He just went: 15:31 "I'm a sucka for a girl with some big eyes and a big head apparently" SO PROUD 😭
Sometimes, films really do earn every minute their public hype. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Man, I love Perrito so much. He's the kind of character that could easily cross from heartwarming to grating in the wrong director's hands. But they gave us such a wholesome heartfelt character to help Puss on this journey! Dream works is planning a 5th Shrek movie, so I wonder if they do plan on tying in Kitty Softpaws & Perritio into that film too, based on the ending?? Shrek has his "annoying talking Donkey" for a best buddy; & Puss has his stupidly optimistic therapy Perrito.
Ok @BillyBinges here they're all words in spanish that you asked for... 7:26 The wolf said "corre, corre gatito" = run, run little cat 14:10 ¡suéltalo!= let go! 16:21 Perro muerto= dead dog 19:40 Los voy hacer a todos alfombras de baño= I'll make them all of you bath mats! (She'll use their fur) 29:45 hasta la muerte = to the dead (?) (It's like a game of words, similar as "see you around) I think it's all, hope this could be of use to you :) (sorry if I have mistakes in my translation)
19:40 "Los" in this case means "you guys" because she's using the ustedes form of the verb (implied by the fact she's talking to the bears. 29:45 "See you at Death" since Death and Puss will see each other when Puss actually dies. Other than that, great translations 🎉
This movie was a serious underdog. Movie is so good. Took our 6 year old at the time to see it and we all enjoyed it throughout. Had such a good mix of kid humor and adult humor which a lot of those animated movies are missing. Loved it.
The Jack Horner nursery rhyme was first published in a British newspaper, lampooning a politician who was basking in the glory of doing "such a good thing for the people" that he benefitted from. Not sure WHAT or WHO it is, but Big Jack Horner is alshockingly appropriate, imo! ETA: Death WAS in the background! His hood and Sickles can be seen in the corners if the numbered cards during Puss' death montage. But he can ALSO be seen during the giant fight! Upper left hand corner, during the wave.
Goldie in the movies story is an orphan, she comes from the same orphanage that puss and Humpty Dumpty came from as you can see in her book that was taken from a library and says something like “past owners” which has Humpty Dumpty’s name
This movie shows just how big an impact Spiderverse had on animation. The 2-D elements drawn into the scene and onto the 3-D characters gives it that comic book look you mentioned, and its amazing. I only watched this movie because I heard a ton of people loved it, and it was totally worth it. Such a great film.
Goldi is closest to Mama Bear because after the first Shrek, Papa fell in love again and made her the new Mama Bear. She, out of all of them, understands Goldis disconnect of becoming a part of a family you weren’t born in.
@@ricardorodriguez-zm1bo I thought so too but in the first Shrek it’s shown that Lord Farquad turned one of the adult bears presumed to be Mama bear into a rug.
Perrito is voiced by Harvey Guillén from What We Do in the Shadows, AND he also did the Spanish dub for this movie! As did Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek.
Everytime I see someone react to this,,, I am shocked at how many people don’t know the Jack Horner nursery rhyme! Didn’t you all read mother goose as a kid???
Death is such a creative character design, even the music that he whistles. Also, if you are looking for more Antonio Banderas playing this type of character, you should watch Zorro movies, the original character that Puss in Boots is based on. When he carves the P into things, that is just like how Zorro leaves his signature Z!
Goldis outfit and appearance is meant to show how she's been raised by the bears. Her hair looks like bear ears, her earrings are mismatched like Mama Bear, the necklace and her eyes are the same as Baby Bear's, and the scars over her eyebrow match Papa Bears missing eye
I truly do love the way they portray a panic attack from many of my experiences of course it is very realistic the way they did it. Also did you know the animators for this we're the same ones that worked on spiderverse
Story of Goldilocks is literally little white girl finds a house, sits in some chairs, eats their food, then sleeps in their bed. The bears come home & find her, she wakes up and then either gets got or runs out the window to safety.
If there is a Shrek 5, Perrito had better be a character in it. I would prefer a Puss in Boots 3,.but if there is a Shrek 5, it would be unforgiveable to exclude him.
7:27 is translated to "Run,run, kitty". Also, not only is Death after Puss for devaluing his lives, but Death was after Puss for underestimating Death, like when Puss said "Puss in Boots laughs in the face of death" at the bar, Death scratched the wanted poster with anger.
I have always love Puss in Boots, The fact that we waited for this movie for almost 10 Years was worth the wait, this movie was incredibly amazing! Thank God, Kitty was my favourite, I loved her is a kid. 24:36 Perrito had me laughing. He was so good in this movie. Death is such a great villain, I loved the voice and design.
It's funny how the pure evil psychopath is goofy and comedic, but the morally neutral one who is only mildly deviating from his normal job... is absolutely terrifying. And the sympathetic villain is exactly what you'd expect her to be.
I feel like part of the reason why Shrek popped up when Puss's life was flashing before his eyes was to establish that this film took place after the Shrek films. Likely for the sake of clarity, since the first Puss in Boots was a prequel to the Shrek series, so the viewers wouldn't assume this movie is the same.
Kitty's translation when she, Puss, and Perrito were fighting Little Jack Horner was that she was going to turn them into bathroom rugs. I'd explain more but it's kind of like calling someone a doormat. Just in bathroom that is.
Not fun fact about this movies story: Antonio Banderas had a heart attack 6 years ago, and a sequel almost never happened because of it. If the story feels more emotional and personal, it's because it is.
This was my first time watching this too, and I really enjoyed it !! Also thank you for reminding me how much i used to love the mv for roses. Finna watch and listen to that rn !
How do you keep thinking the wish is going to end up with Perrito? He stated many times that he doesn't need a wish and he is perfectly happy without one. No signs pointed to them giving it to him. I know you know how it ends and that you understand, but it is so funny seeing somebody so confidently wrong 😭
You need to watch the 4 other best of the DreamWorks movies; Chicken Run, Kung Fu Panda, Croods 2 New Age, and Trolls. Puss N Boots Last wish is one of the best tho. I absolutely loved the messages in this and I know why this beat Disney, as it should have! Perrito was especially a sweet character and I love Goldilocks at the end
7:20 this translates to “run, run kitty” btw 29:38 this translates to “until death” There’s another line that Death says that you didn’t cover (it was right after they stopped fighting and right before he leaves) and that line translates to “why the h*ll did I play with my food”

7:26 The wolf said "corre, corre gatito" = run, run little cat
14:10 ¡suéltalo!= let go!
16:21 Perro muerto= dead dog
19:40 Los voy hacer a todos alfombras de baño= I'll make them all of you bath mats! (She'll use their fur)
29:45 hasta la muerte = to the dead (?) (It's like a game of words, similar as "see you around)
I think it's all, hope this could be of use to you :) (sorry if I have mistakes in my translation)
19:40 "Los" in this case means "you guys" because she's using the ustedes form of the verb (implied by the fact she's talking to the bears.
29:45 "See you at Death" since Death and Puss will see each other when Puss actually dies.
Other than that, great translations 🎉
@@TaliyahHarris1025 thanks 🥺😊
@@ferchan2000 you're welcome 😊
7:26 I know it's in Spanish, but from what I know in Italian, it seems like he's saying "Run, run, little cat"
7:36 That's the lady in Encanto that was tripping over Bruno saying her fish was going to die 😂😂
Goldie in the movies story is an orphan, she comes from the same orphanage that puss and Humpty Dumpty came from as you can see in her book that was taken from a library and says something like “past owners” which has Humpty Dumpty’s name
Not Billy going "WEE WOO WEE WOO" and all i can think of is the hall monitor episode of spongebob 🤣
This movie shows just how big an impact Spiderverse had on animation. The 2-D elements drawn into the scene and onto the 3-D characters gives it that comic book look you mentioned, and its amazing. I only watched this movie because I heard a ton of people loved it, and it was totally worth it. Such a great film.
btw, kitty said '' ill turn you into a bathroom rug!'' at 19:40
Goldi is closest to Mama Bear because after the first Shrek, Papa fell in love again and made her the new Mama Bear.
She, out of all of them, understands Goldis disconnect of becoming a part of a family you weren’t born in.
I thought they were the same
@@ricardorodriguez-zm1bo I thought so too but in the first Shrek it’s shown that Lord Farquad turned one of the adult bears presumed to be Mama bear into a rug.
24:35 Perrito cursing is the funniest scene in the movie
Perrito is voiced by Harvey Guillén from What We Do in the Shadows, AND he also did the Spanish dub for this movie!
As did Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek.
Fun fact the wolf is in every corner of the number cards in the counting his death sequence
Exactly so I don't get the person in these comments saying he cheated... Puss is the one who chose to risk all his life's
7:27 “Run run, kitty.” Jesus, Billy has serious ADHD 😆
22:09 it’s confirmed that she is lying here to make him feel better, she was in fact there at the wedding
Confirmed by whom?? It's just a theory not a fact
Not confirmed is it?
@@zephyr9852 the film writers and directors said so
@@DORAisD34D no it is
Everytime I see someone react to this,,, I am shocked at how many people don’t know the Jack Horner nursery rhyme! Didn’t you all read mother goose as a kid???
You should watch Ferngully: The Last Rainforest next. It has a really good message and some really good songs too. I think you'd enjoy it.
7:26 He said,"Corre, corre, gatito."
Which means run, run, little cat.
Mama Bear's out here just adopting every orphan she can get her paws on
Not people clicking off like waiting for a minute was an eternity
I would wait years, your videos are too good 😊😊
I appreciate you love ❤️
19:46 "Los voy a hacer a todos alfombras de baño" translates to: I'm going to turn you all into bathroom rugs
Yes, Billy, you should definitely watch Boss Baby. It’s totally up your alley with the humor. 💯
15:02 Puss in Boots doing those eyes warms my heart every time. I'm a sucker for cuteness, Billy.
I truly do love the way they portray a panic attack from many of my experiences of course it is very realistic the way they did it.
Also did you know the animators for this we're the same ones that worked on spiderverse
Literally my second favorite film ever after back to the future.
billy: i havent seen kung fu panda
me: you need to fix that
billy: i also havent seen boss baby
me: you dont need to fix that
Story of Goldilocks is literally little white girl finds a house, sits in some chairs, eats their food, then sleeps in their bed. The bears come home & find her, she wakes up and then either gets got or runs out the window to safety.
YOOOO billy is it just me or the colorgrading/colors/whatever it is on your videos is sooo much better? it looks so vibrant!!
Not Billy unintentionally insulting his inner conscience.😂💀
*THAT DREAMWORKS MOVIE IS MY FAVORITE!!* ✨
If there is a Shrek 5, Perrito had better be a character in it. I would prefer a Puss in Boots 3,.but if there is a Shrek 5, it would be unforgiveable to exclude him.
"So are they gonna have babies yet"
-Billy
7:27 is translated to "Run,run, kitty". Also, not only is Death after Puss for devaluing his lives, but Death was after Puss for underestimating Death, like when Puss said "Puss in Boots laughs in the face of death" at the bar, Death scratched the wanted poster with anger.
him going “wee woo, wee woo” whenever the death whistle came on just wanted to make me end my life
5:33 that's too true, death comes for everyone. If I had a wish I would give puss in boots a thousand more lives.
Deaths Whistle is actually whistled by the voice actor himself.
I wish I could whistle like that lol
Yeah I wish I could whistle like that, then I could scare the shit out of people.
18:10 you never watched Pinocchio or remember the role of Jiminy Cricket 😂
Carne Asada Burrito? 😂lmaooo that made me crack up. The wolf said “Corre, corre gatito” which means, “Run, run kitty cat”
"true growth is understanding and appreciating where you're at right now"
- BillyBinges
What’s funny is that the Wolf said corre corre Gatito and he said corre corre burrito 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
Death: "corre, corre gatito" (run, run little kitti)
Billy: I want a burrito
I’m so happy I’m not the only one who thought of the hunger games when Death was whistling. 😂😂😂
The first Puss in Boots felt like a spinoff. This Puss in Boots is the best entry in the entire Shrek franchise. By a lot.
I could not agree more
Anybody who speaks ill of this film deserves the piano treatment.
I laughed so hard with @BillyBinges saying Carne Asada Burritos hahaha
“Corre, corre gatito” means run, run kitty or little kitten 😂
I never realized but when Puss throws off one foot and one forefoot sock it's akin to a human sticking a foot out from under the blanket!
5:11 I refuse to drink anything but fruit flavored drinks 😂
2 Things:
1) Watch Kung Fu Panda. NOW!
2) Where did you get your shirt from? I need to match this fool.😂
I actually went to see this with my mom in theaters and loved it so much i bought it on DVD. I loved the comic book style animation too as well!
The Hunger Games tribute every time the wolf showed up was everything to me! 🤣
This movie gives me back so many memories when I first watched this with my family at the theatre❤it warms my heart to see you react to it as well
You can see death at the beginning when Puss defeated the Groot giant thing😂
7:26 Death says in Spanish "Run run kitty"
Billy: Man I love me some burritos 🤤
7:25 Now Billy I know you know that's not what he said 😂. But the translation of what he actually said was "Run little cat"
Edit: numbers are hard lol
Kitty's translation when she, Puss, and Perrito were fighting Little Jack Horner was that she was going to turn them into bathroom rugs. I'd explain more but it's kind of like calling someone a doormat. Just in bathroom that is.
Not fun fact about this movies story:
Antonio Banderas had a heart attack 6 years ago, and a sequel almost never happened because of it.
If the story feels more emotional and personal, it's because it is.
5:48 no, but the way i was literally crying from fear while watching this scene😭
The whistle the wolf guy makes is called “the death whistle”😊
This was my first time watching this too, and I really enjoyed it !! Also thank you for reminding me how much i used to love the mv for roses. Finna watch and listen to that rn !
This is a quote I made that fits Goldilocks in this movie:
"Family doesn't have to be perfect, it just matters if you Love Your Family."
How do you keep thinking the wish is going to end up with Perrito? He stated many times that he doesn't need a wish and he is perfectly happy without one. No signs pointed to them giving it to him. I know you know how it ends and that you understand, but it is so funny seeing somebody so confidently wrong 😭
I think it’s just because I’m your average animated movie that’s the exact kind of ending it would have
“What is this, Katniss Everdeen?” LMAOO 😭😭😭
Kitty said in Spanish “I’m going to turn you into bath mats”.
19:40 She said "I'm going to make bathmats out of all of you!"
7:20 this translates to “run, run kitty” btw
29:38 this translates to “until death”
There’s another line that Death says that you didn’t cover (it was right after they stopped fighting and right before he leaves) and that line translates to “why the h*ll did I play with my food”
The Agua whisperer is Spanish for water whisperer
Kitty said when she lost the map she was gonna make them into rugs for the bathroom 😂
I love your intros! Need some positivity in my day.
14:29
(Bleep) for brains.
What was he called!? 😲
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
19:39 she said "im going to turrn all of you into a bathroom carpet" 😁
