While going through the McJimsey essences, I had more dramatic features but I can't see the sharpeness in my features. Then when ethereal came, she said that ethereal is like a softer dramatic so like long with soft edges! I literally screamed "that's me!" It turned out that it was truly me 😂
There’s something about these concepts, but no matter how many (well made and researched) videos of yours I watch, I end up confused and none the wiser ! I just don’t think this clicks with me, I’ll have to get someone else to type my face 😂
I never thought I would be able to see my essences so early. Drawing over a photo of my face and looking only at the lines really made a difference, my features just popped out and I could define them very easily
Classic really is so hard to judge. I think i was all wrong about my essence until I did a deep dive into the systems, because I feel like you really have to train your eye in order to see it. It's funny but years ago before I got into any of it a friend of mine said she thought i looked a lot like Grace Kelly. I'm not white and i'm certainly not blond so I really didn't see it, but now it makes sense to me haha.
JUST, finally, realized I fit all the descriptors of the Romantic type. Before, I was convinced I was a SN, but this makes so much more sense. Certainly explains why I like wearing 40-50s fashions, (sweetheart necklines & bodycon dresses) so much! 🤯😇 Thank you so much for these tools, Ellie-Jean! 😊
Taking a break before lunch and watching this video! Definitely, I have Gamine features. It took me a while to understand Gamine body type and essence. I asked my friends a few times and the conclusion was Gamine.
Hello, I really enjoy your videos and the content you share is incredibly helpful. I love your analysis and explanation of the different types. One thing about this particular video that I, personally, would find helpful, is if the pace was slower - lists of words plus the pictures you use to illustrate them flash by so quickly in this video and it's hard to even stop the video in the right place. I don't mean this as criticism.
I did this knowing somewhat what I was (I have ingenue and maybe some dramatic essence) but it’s not until you described naturals that I began to see the natural essence in me. So in the end here’s my results: 2 for Dramatic, 3 for Natural, and 2 for Ingenue.
The bingo test was really helpful!! Thanks! I got: Natural: 3 marks Dramatic: 1 and a half marks Classic: 1 mark Romantic: 1 mark Gamine: 1/2 a mark Ethereal: 1/2 a mark Ingenue: 0 marks
I just wanted to say I really appreciate your content. I'm a Bespoke Suit tailor, so often get chatting to fiancês of my grooms about you and your content. Loved this video ❤ (Classic face with romantic body type here)
This was so clarifying. I can now see my top 3, and I just love how essences can really add balance to the kibbe body types which can feel very confining especially since most of us dont perfectly match face and body type.
I needed around two hours to watch the whole video! You packed so much information that I had to stop and rewatched a thousand times!! I finally figured out that I have a mostly classic face, with medium features and a slight yan dominance. My second type would probably be gamine because of the contrast of my slightly big eyes and my slightly small, pouty lips and because I'm told I have a youthful appeareance (people always guess wrong my age and think I'm about 5-10 years younger than I am). But the most important thing is that you have just made me reconcile with my face. ❤
I finally found time for the line drawing. It really just shows overall classic features, but I do have additional yang going on due to structure that isn't included in the line drawing. I have NO idea how this is called, neither in Garman nor in English, but you know these shadows that appear when you smile or chew or do certain facial expressions that extend from the lower border of your cheekbones, where your contour would be placed, and goes down towards the chin. Those shadows you would create with contour to add a more structured, striking appearance to the face. Those that are usually associated with a slightly more masculine face. I got those and they can be quite apparent, in certain lighting even without any facial expression. That's what adds a bit of drama to my face and gives it a more structured look. No additional length or pointy features. Face shape is very much just a soft square, but longer than it is wide (I think squoval is the correct term for my face shape). It can look more diamond shaped when I smile or laugh, because then my chin will stick out which it doesn't do when my face is completely relaxed. My cheek bones are sharp but not particularly high or wide. The cheeks themselves are in the middle of taut and soft but the slightest bit rounded when I smile. Compared to many other people I have a rather small face, but within my own body my face is of balanced size. It's always been funny in group pictures though. I always was like "I didn't know I had such a small face" or "Why does my face look so tiny next to yours?!", stuff like that. But on pictures that only show me, you really can't tell. Cheek bones, the widest part of my forehead and the widest part of my jawline are all equally wide, creating an almost perfectly straight vertical line (with the addition of the shape my cheek bones add, those slight indentations below the bones). I used to think I had a very disproportioned face, when I was younger. I wish I had done this sooner so I had known I was completely wrong about this. I think selfies can really distort your face (I mean, that's also all over the internet atm, so it's nothing new, but I wasn't aware of this when I was younger). My nose looked bigger, my lips looked bigger, my eyes looked huge and my facial features in general were really distorted in most photos I had taken of myself. The photo I used for the line drawing was made with an appropriate distance, relaxed face, no posing, no make up, hair completely out of the face. And it surprized me, when I first saw it. The balance within my features is quite obvious actually. I think that makes Classic be my main essence. But afaik gestures, body language, facial expressions, the way you speak and behave, all those also add to your essence blend. Which is why some romantics might come across weird in a cute, ruffled dress and some dramatics might look very great in it. I think I look very good in any type of classic recommendations, no matter if it's SC or DC or even only C (from the time when it was still an individual ID). And I am so glad, I finally figured that out, because when I thought I might be a Natural subtype and tried SN, N and FN lines plus hair and make up, just made me feel like I am swallowing in whatever I wore. That was also the time I was the most unhappy about my wardrobe. Classic make up recommendations work like a charm for me and I feel the most beautiful in that type of make up. I also always felt like the bleached hair wasn't really doing much for my features, even though it's a color that's within my color type (in SCA at least), while the brown I wear now is REALLY working amazingly well with my features (AND coloring). This was a very long journey (about 10 years tbh) and styling outfits has never been THAT easy. I love going through my wardrobe, picking stuff, styling an outfit nowadays. It's easy, unless I have one of those days I just can't decide what I wanna wear. But I really learned what to add or take away when an outfit feels kind of wrong or off on me. And that's the tool I was missing all the years before. It's not that I strictly stick to the rules, but I learned which silhouettes and lines have what impact on my look and proportions and allow myself to play around with that too. I also wear WAY LESS make up nowadays (especially with the darker hair which does kind of even out my complexion) because I know how to enhance my features with color, clothes and very simple and quick make up looks. It's the exact type of ease I was after and didn't know what it was. When things just fall into place and the individual puzzle pieces finally create a picture, it suddenly feels very easy to get ready and look nicely put together without feeling like wearing a costume. Incorporating personality was also quite easy for me after I was able to put together the individual pieces I had learned about. And THAT has always been the most important part for me personally.
This was super helpful! For once I actually took the time and did the line drawing, and it really did clear things up. Lots of pauses later, I think I might have romantic face shape with bit of ingenue and natural. Thanks!
I’m fairly sure I’m mainly ethereal with natural essence- I’ve also been told there’s bits of ingenue or classic. I’ve been told from outward opinions that I “look like I would be found in the forest” and a friend telling me I look like a “Woodland elf”. I’m medium-high contrast, so I believe there’s so many types of ethereals and it’s just so fun to delve even deeper into these various archetypes.
This video is amazing! Been watching the channel for a while and I really wanted to figure out my essences. Even if I’m not sure about the order yet (like which one is really most prominent), but I’m pretty sure now that I’ve got ingenue, romantic and ethereal (romantic body type). I always thought I would have some natural in there but I think that’s the little bit of ethereal, plus my (non-existent) style currently is quite practical and sporty… I really have to start honoring by body and essences but my not-so-good self esteem and being a little bigger than I’d like makes that difficult. But I’ll be shopping soon, cause I want to start actually feeling good in my outfits! Thank you so much for everything Ellie-Jean
This was super duper helpful, especially the way you described each description and provided visuals for the lines and shapes. I found out I had previously thought I was definitely not a dramatic, turns out I'm completely wrong about that! 😂👏👏
That’s so interesting! According to the list my first essence is definitely ethereal with ingenue or romantic coming in second. I never thought I had any Romantic essence so that was eye opening for sure!
This was great! I have watched a bunch of your essence videos and this little quiz was a great gut check. Looking at faces and the information you'd provided I'd always thought I was Ingenue-Natural-Ethereal. And then by breaking down the specific features that worked out really clearly in the quiz! Thank you for your great content!
This is so life-affirming lol, I've always thought I'm too blunt and round to be anything other than natural but my vibe never fully matched, but piecing in my slight classic essence is a game-changer!!
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot. I am a soft classic body type with mostly classic facial type My second and third facial type are ingenue and romantic, leaning more ingenue than romantic.
1. Heart-shaped face 2. High forehead and round 3. Narrow jawline pointed and round 4.Chin is round and flat 5. Eyes are small almond close set 6. High cheekbones and round cheeks 7. Soft nose and sloped small for face and narrow and almond 8. Large lips 9. Small teeth rounded 10. More yin (round soft and large) than yang
I love your method! I was a bit overwhelmed because I could see too many essences in my general appearance. However I have mainly Ethereal and Dramatic in my face, while my kibbe body type is Theatrical Romantic or soft Gamine (maybe when I was younger I used to be the latter). I can see some Romantic in my body but not in my face, and while I'm flattered in body hugging clothes, I really don't like rouches or round/heart necklines on me, next to my face. Also I could see the Dramatic but I would be overwhelmed by an outfit based on Dramatic lines, while I'm flattered by some elements like dark colours, geometric necklines, leather, snake print, dark/black lipstick. I love the Ethereal essence but for practicality I use just some details like silver and metallic colours, silky or fluffy materials, some draping, and my long purple wavy hair and a metallic or holographic makeup (metallic blush is way better than matte pink or red). Also my colour season is Toned Winter, that I can interpret as having a dark component of Dramatic, and toned as Ethereal.
Doing this made me truly realize how asymmetrical my face is hahaha, one side is more rounded than the other in some places like my lips and i have one eye thats more hooded, my jaw line is soft on one side and sharp on the other hahaha depending on my side im different essences???
Do you sleep on your side or your stomach? That sounds like fat/water pooling from sleeping on your side. I used to have that issue but I sleep on my back now mostly 😅
@@spacebar9733 I sleep in any which position, I'm a nightmare to sleep next too but I do sleep on my side/stomach when I fall asleep so that's a possibility! Thank you!!
Love your videos ❤ I’m a classic body and face. I’m only just beginning my personal style journey in my 30’s. I would love to see a video about how a classic could dress slightly like the other types but still maintain their essence. In other words a slightly spiced up classic 😅
Hey girl love this, wondered if you'd make one on accessories specifically jackets/coats and shoes in regards to body type in all seasons/weather?! I find it so hard to know what outwear and shows to match an outfit to also suit the weather night or day and is so frustrating when I've found an outfit I vibe with but then ruin with my shoes, tights or jacket and even bag sometimes, I end up just chucking a jumper on or cardi over my night out fits!😂💗
This is a really interesting video but it added to my confusion to be honest since many of my features didn't feature in the descriptions of any of the essences 😅 (oblong face, large teeth). I guess I'll keep on studying and it'll come to me.
Well I'm still confused 😂😂😂 even watching hundreds of videos or reading blogs didn't help. I'm probably the most basic looking person and feel very conflicted as I fit into all essences except gamine and ingenue so what am I 😂😂😂 I know it isn't necessarily connected but I'm SD in kibbe
Can you comment on why jojo siwa looks so ridiculous in her new music video/look compared to Rihanna (disturbia) and Miley Cyrus (can’t be tamed) doing the same thing. Because I feel like a lot of the issue is with her face/essence.
i was thinking this too! i feel like the styling was overcompensating for her features rather than working with them, so she ended up looking like a caricature 🤦🏻♀️ would love a video on it ♥
Jojo have a baby face(ingenue/gamine) so that is a good example of what happens when u go on the contrary of your essence.riri and Miley have others essences blend is they features this is why it works.
As I am still young ( early twenties ) I don't know if Ingenue is going to be my dominant essence. Though I have a very obvious baby face, small delicate features, I can't distinguish if they are leaning Romantic or Ingenue. I probably have a spot of Natural or Classic. My biggest set back is my eyes, they aren't wide set, but lean normal set and are pretty large ( So Ingenue? Or Romantic? ) I feel I'm not cute looking enough for Ingenue, but no matter what I always appear too girlish and not mature enough. This is confusing even while knowing its about the big picture and vibes too
Could you do a video of elevating or ‘grown up-ing’😂 different aesthetics? I love the whimsy, cottagecore look, but want to translate it into a corporate and grown up setting without loosing it. I am 23 and beginning to get into a career/job setting which is office based currently. I am an artsy person who loves the cottagecore, feminine look but don’t want to look or feel like a child playing dress up. Not do I want to wear boring (in my opinion) office ‘appropriate’ attire and loose my personal style. Often ‘office’ clothes are greys and navy which don’t suit my pallet. And the style of clothes ie suit, blazer and trousers don’t really feel me or fit my style. Out of work attire I also want my weekend, (grabbing coffee and looking round museums in London trips I do with a friend) to look and feel grown up too. I want to look comfortable and casual in jeans but end up feeling slobbish (I’m plus size and feel i have to compensate by ‘overdressing’ as I don’t want to look lazy. Also to me jeans are very casual wear which I struggle to style up to look out together but not too much. I’m recent uni grad and my brain cannot disconnect jeans with laziness and also teenagehood or mums in Tesco. I see others styling jeans well. Maybe it’s the cut or colour? * I’m not trying to disparage mums in Tesco 😂 or anyone else. For me clothes are really important commutators as I’m autistic, both as a self expression but also to communicate to others who I am.
I second this topic! But if she doesn’t cover it, I recently turned 26 and feel like I just got the hang of it, so give it time and I’m sure you will too :) also on the jeans front I found that wearing ones that really suit my body type and are less trendy, paired with accessories does the trick, I’ve actually started doing it with sweatpants too lol I swear by it
I like to call my color season “dark spring” because I don’t look good in any muted colors, and look good in black, ivory, and warm colors with enough contrast or warm colors with black or ivory next to it.
One of the things that I am currently struggling with is my eyes. Naturally, I have large, round eyes, but my eyeglass prescription is notable. This ultimately means that if I wear glasses, my eyes are de-magnified... and its to the point that I look dramatically different with vs without glasses. I wear glasses 90% of the time for comfort and sanitary reasons, so my large eyes are not part of my features in my everyday situation. How should I take this into account when identifying my essence?
I know for certain that I am mostly romantic with some natural, this shows up more in my body than my face, but I have a hard time distinguishing between those two essences when it comes to shapes. I know one is blunt and the other is round but I’ve found that those two shapes can be difficult to distinguish from one another.
I don't know why I'm making this comment.. the video is awesome ❤. I'm just saying the app being called procreate is kind of.. funny.. like I know what that word means normally
Big tip: take a picture of your face, go to a dark room or put a blanket over your head to block the light and turn screen brightness all the way up. Place a piece of paper on top on the device and trace!
I am sick at home. Bored shtless, finally took the kibbe test (somewhere between soft natural, flamboyant gamine, with a bit of dramatic classic? I thought I was FG but i think I'm leaning more to SN) Only to find essences exist (haven't seen the whole vid but i think i do have a gamine essence thus FG mistype). But it can be a little difficult to follow along because I'm have to pause you videos so much. Could you please speak a little slower or leave room to look at a thing after you say it? ❤ Great content though. I am trying to figure out my vibe, season (soft autumn or true) and mountain/earth elements also. Just want an easy, cohesive wardrobe
My eyes are a bit of a difficult one but I've settled on they are upturned and slightly large as they are around the same size as my nose and mouth but they're not particularly youthful looking. My nose bridge is short and narrow but my nose is soft and rounded , you seem to have a narrow and short nose bridge ,is your nose a gamine feature? It's difficult when your features are mixed yin and Yang
3 dramatic 3 natural classic 😩 4 ethereal 6 ingenue 3 romantic When the word "slightly" was used in classic, that threw me off :( bc when I was defining my features I realized that they were kind of in the middle... Now, I'm thinking maybe classic is one of my essences 😅
I liked the breakdow but it's interesting- I didn't see narrow eyes for you at all. When you see yourself with out the makeup you have very large eyes. Even with makeup your eyes are like very large.
Low cost hack: look into the mirror full face and trace your facial outlines with a makeup pencil or something else that can wash off afterwards. Tracing with a soapy finger can work, but it's harder to see. Then take a photo.
My face is quite soft when I am relaxed/overly relaxed but gets a lot more pointy in the chin, jawline, nose and cheekbones when I smile? Like I feel like my face is so off. When i try to answer the question i lean soft but the overall apperance isn't soft, and then when I smile it all goes out the window (except for my bubbly cheeks) And i don't Identity with medium or mixed yin/yang either because it feels too wonky to say medium or mixed somehow?
For the picture, are we supposed to smile or have a straight face? I'm the type of person where if i dont smile, my face seems oval, no definition anywhere, but when i smile my cheekbones pop and make my face circular, because of the smiling circular face my chin seems much more pointed and round and soft. they look like 2 completely different face shapes which is part of the reason i struggle so much with face essenses. it's like i have 2 completely different vibes when i smile vs when i dont.
I’m largely uninterested in sponsorships! They can be quite demanding and add a lot of pressure to the creation process so where I can I like to fund these videos in other ways. Also I’m not currently part of an agency as I’m not 100% comfortable with the change in control that often comes with it so I get offers much less than other creators my size ♥️
Ellie! Whenever I wear a monochromatic outfit, I find myself getting a lot of looks. Does this say something about my kibbe type, kitchner essence, color season -- or is monochromatic just universally eye-catching? Curious 💞 thank you always!
I have think about this topic lately. Monochromatic is eye-catching for example if you see a person wearing head to toe black,or white or green, red etc you will look at them maybe because it seams like a "enbodyfication" of that color. Just my theory
Beyond the looks, how do you feel monochromatic suits you? Monochromatic looking harmonious on you suggests a long vertical line. Most likely Dramatic or Soft Dramatic, but potentially FN. For Essence, monochromatic is most often found in Dramatic or Ethereal. Color Season, most often Winter as they can handle the most boldness and stillness. But Summers can do similar, they just tend to look best with an "ombre" monochromatic approach. Moreso though, it will depend on *what* color as far as determining seasons. I've seen some Springs look amazing in monochromatic, as long as they're bringing fun and movement in with accessories.
Monochromatic is eye-catching because it is unusual. It takes thought to put together a monochromatic look; and it also requires discrimination in shopping, and extra time. Most people don't want to think too much when shopping or dressing so they buy and put on whatever is comfortable and fits -- which usually ends up a mix of colours.
@@Nerdy-By-Nature thank you for your insight! -- I'm not officially typed, but I'm 5'2 and have to accommodate curve. Often feel torn between R / SG / SN -- quintessential existential short girl problems! I think I am R, kinda reminiscent of Drew Barrymore with a slight Olsen twin essence
another thing that helped me figure out my essence was by working backwards and figuring out what looks BAD on me. i'm short and have very small features (helpfully limits my options), but ingenue essence styling (bows, peter pan collars, big puffy sleeves) looks awful on me. instead of looking harmonious it looks like an ill-fitting costume. i'm much more of a gamine and i like to wear funky clothing!
Cool so Im everything and tiny as heck and my body type clashes with everything. Ill never figure this out. Im almost completely moderate but not a classic...
Ethereal and romantic are about neck and neck for me with either dramatic, gamine or ingenue being my third essence. I'm thinking gamine because my very slight youthfulness is more Audrey Hepburn tomboyish than girlish. While the ingenue features overlap with romantic and dramatic overlaps with ethereal. Which leaves gamine. Interesting lol I wouldn't have thought it.
Ok I’m in a pickle - I’m pretty sure I’m an ingenue / romantic blend, primarily ingenue, but I’m also a very tall (almost 6ft.) and big-boned soft dramatic in Kibbe. I feel like my ingenue essence doesn’t really mesh with the largeness I need to accommodate in my frame. So I’m struggling to figure out how to incorporate my ingenue essence into my personal style in a way that feels organic and comfortable to me 🙃
@@Maryagnes96 No problem! I thought she had a full video for it, but the video is if your style doesn't match your body type. I believe she covers style roots to work with Kibbe Image ID.
I would look for traditional ingenue details (bows, floral prints, peter pan collars, any delicate details basically) and see how large or tiny you need to make them for them to look right on you. Maybe you can get away with ditsy florals, maybe you need larger floral prints like a more romantic essence would but need them in paler colors. It will depend on a lot of things so you have to experiment!
I wish I could send you pictures of me to tell me my face type. It’s me in my profile pic but it’s so hard to tell for African American features in my opinion but maybe that’s cause I’m new to this 😅
I can't see the length of your face but from the photo your nose looks classic and your eyes almond/sharp and cheek bones sharp and jawline looks wide , chin looks classic and your lips look classic
Today I said to my mom "I am an 80's denim romper, paired with a flowy lace blouse, a chic pair of shoes and a leather jacket", and she was like "Absolutely, that's exactly what your personality is like!", and I wondered, what essence combo would that be? Natural, romantic, ingenue, classic, dramatic? Because I feel like I got all of these within me, honestly. In Kibbe I would be DC, but my face says so much more. I got a VERY balanced face, don't get me wrong. The spacing, the "layout" and everything is very classic, but my eyes are that rounded almond shape which looks like it's still not fully "grown up" and my lips are super soft in volume and slightly sharp (in the cupids bow mainly). I got a pretty regularly sized nose from the front, but it has a fair amount of visual weight from the side profile (upturned, but slightly blunt in its outline which becomes invisible when I turn and you see me just upfront). People usually think I am about 10 years younger than I am (which I still don't believe, to be honest, but they keep telling me), I got a fair amount of visual definition and can handle way more contrast than my seasonal color palette would offer. I look faint in super light hair colors, but striking in a shade darker than my natural. But yet perfectly dramatic lines look out of place on me. They are not particularly overpowering me, but are just not quite right. If I wear some dramatic only pieces, it is a great look, but if I opt for all dramatic, it really doesn't look right. But when I go for straight all DC it also doesn't look like myself. I feel like wearing mens clothes (tailored or classically fitted) I can look way more in tune with myself as if I'd go for the feminine version of the same thing (can look stiff on me or like I'm trying too hard) but one structured, well balanced piece as outerwear, a DC appropriate, but not overly formal basic (mock neck long sleeve or tank for example), cargo pants and chunky boots are amazing. And that romper, lace blouse and leather jacket reference really just came to me and it was spor on perfect. That sounds very much gamine, but isn't in my case. I once thought I might have gamine essence, but I definitely need longer lines than them and it's only the need of at least some structure I share with them. Other than that it's really just a combination of what my essence blend adds to me. And I don't tthink it's that hard to learn how to figure it out. The problem is the terms being used and the lack of descriptions about these. I would also love to pair cargo or utility pants with a gilet (suit vest) and pointed heels (those with a rather low and square heel though), and a simple ribbed knit tank top in a vivid color. That's me, that's what I feel like and I think I look great in such combos. What I did feel weirded out about though: A lot of people got to know me with bleached blonde hair (as light as your bleached bits, but a slightly different tone, a bit brighter and warmer), and they keep telling me that this is my best hair color. They've only seen me with a type of hair color that is in between blonde and brown (aka too unclear for me) which really isn't my best choice. But now that I colored my hair a level darker than my natural (to a level 5) I get lots of compliments too. And when I was younger, people told me I looked better with darker hair as opposed to lighter hair (despite being born with nearly white hair, but my natural hair is really just a level 6 and REALLY looks straight up brunette). The level 5 brown definitely hightlights my features, my facial structure and does smooth out my skintone a lot more than the lighter blonde ever could. So I might actually stick to it (it's just a semi-permanent right now, which will fade back to blonde over time, but I don't feel like going back blonde tbh, I really wanna delve into the brunette now. My roots also don't show as much with this, while my hair grows rather quickly, I need to touch up the blonde quite often (every 3 weeks to avoid banding). So yah, I do think that mix of essences is very important to incorporate into your outfits and styling if you wanna look very well put together. But it can also be an amazing tool to learn how to express yourself in a way that actually creates the image you wanna create.
Having 5 essences would be quite a lot. Most people have one or two dominant essences that really shine, and then one or more tertiary essences that are fun for small details but not super important to accommodate. it could be that your body type suits certain essences more and your face suits others! That's pretty common :)
Each time I think I have mine figured out, I get lost again. 😂 I have a pfp & this acct is connected to my channel where there's videos of me, if anyone here feels particularly confident about their typing abilities. I at least THINK my face leans yang, so that's a start? 😅

I did this knowing somewhat what I was (I have ingenue and maybe some dramatic essence) but it’s not until you described naturals that I began to see the natural essence in me. So in the end here’s my results:
2 for Dramatic,
3 for Natural,
and 2 for Ingenue.
I knew my essence blend before watching this video; I just had the percentages wrong. The upshot was, I went back and checked again. Thank you!
Love this
Can we have a soft natural, boho, earth root video pls?
The bingo test was really helpful!! Thanks!
I got:
Natural: 3 marks
Dramatic: 1 and a half marks
Classic: 1 mark
Romantic: 1 mark
Gamine: 1/2 a mark
Ethereal: 1/2 a mark
Ingenue: 0 marks
The majority of my marks were in Dramatic and Ethereal. I'm pretty happy with this result. Thank you for making this video!
Thank you! I´ve trying to get my shape with videos and test, and always got lost. This one, short and easy, has set me on a path!
Oh my gosh you read my mind with this video! I have been struggling terribly to identify my face type. 🥰
Thank you!! This was very helpful! I think I figured out I have mainly natural and gamine essence. Almost an even amount, it seems
This makes so much sense! I always thought I'm ingenue and natural, but I'm classic and romantic :) but now what do I do with that knowledge?
1. Heart-shaped face
2. High forehead and round
3. Narrow jawline pointed and round
4.Chin is round and flat
5. Eyes are small almond close set
6. High cheekbones and round cheeks
7. Soft nose and sloped small for face and narrow and almond
8. Large lips
9. Small teeth rounded
Thanks Ellie-jean I'm really excited for the next video
I love it! These videos are so helpful
Yeah, no idea. Doing the drawing just made me realize that I have unnaturally small lips (like not thin, but small) and it looks very stupid. ✌🏻
I loved the bingo! I think I'm starting to understand my essence...I think...
What happens when I am equally a Dramatic and Etheral?
Check out Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton - they both have Dramatic and Ethereal and blend it beautifully.
AHHH CANT FIGURE OUT MY ESSENCES OTHER THAN ROMANTIC
Oblong face is long and slightly angular. Could be Ethereal and/or Natural. Large teeth could also be Natural
I needed this! Thanks, EJ!
Forehead: high, square
Jawline: narrow and round, pointed
Chin: round
Eyes: small, round, wide
Cheekbones: high, rounr
Nose: soft, sloped, small, wide
Lips: round, large
Teeth: large,n
Well I'm still confused 😂😂😂 even watching hundreds of videos or reading blogs didn't help. I'm probably the most basic looking person and feel very conflicted as I fit into all essences except gamine and ingenue so what am I 😂😂😂 I know it isn't necessarily connected but I'm SD in kibbe
I feel the same way expect that I can’t figure out my kibbe ID either 😂
I am not sure , since I haven’t seen your face. But you might be a classic. Does your face have any striking features? I am a romantic
Wow, I think that if you can describe yourself as basic or generic, you have won at lottery and can try a lot of looks.
But if she doesn’t cover it, I recently turned 26 and feel like I just got the hang of it, so give it time and I’m sure you will too :) also on the jeans front I found that wearing ones that really suit my body type and are less trendy, paired with accessories does the trick, I’ve actually started doing it with sweatpants too lol I swear by it
The style you're describing reminds me of Hachiko from Nana, looking her up might give some good inspiration for outfits 🛍️👚🌸
Love your channel Ellie!!!
Loved this video, only think I’d say is the features flashed up way too fast to pause reliably!
I like to call my color season “dark spring” because I don’t look good in any muted colors, and look good in black, ivory, and warm colors with enough contrast or warm colors with black or ivory next to it.
This was so helpful, thank you!!
Classic Gamine Romantic, I’m sure it could be further narrowed down to one or two since all these have some common characteristics
Face shape : ovale
Forehead : low + round
Jawline : narrow + straight + pointed
Chin : pointed + round + flat
Cheekbones : low
Cheeks : taut
Eyes : large + round + wide set/medium
Nose : soft + sloped + large + wide
Lips : almond + small
Teeth : large + pointed + rounded
Dramatic✅
Natural✅
Gamine✅
Classic
Ingenue
Romantic✅
Ethereal
Wow this is so interesting! 🌸
Thank u for your informative video
I am sick at home. Bored shtless, finally took the kibbe test (somewhere between soft natural, flamboyant gamine, with a bit of dramatic classic? I thought I was FG but i think I'm leaning more to SN)
Only to find essences exist (haven't seen the whole vid but i think i do have a gamine essence thus FG mistype).
I'd be a tie between Dramatic and Natural and it's ok with me ^^
Could you have more pictures of the options?
3 dramatic
3 natural
classic 😩
4 ethereal
6 ingenue
3 romantic
When the word "slightly" was used in classic, that threw me off :( bc when I was defining my features I realized that they were kind of in the middle... Now, I'm thinking maybe classic is one of my essences 😅
I liked the breakdow but it's interesting- I didn't see narrow eyes for you at all. When you see yourself with out the makeup you have very large eyes. Even with makeup your eyes are like very large.
Yes!! Her features are really round and I never understood tge balance of yin and yang in her. Maybe because nothing stdand out too much
Bingo has never been this fast.
1:16 thank you for this part!!! it was *so* helpful 🩷✨
Low cost hack: look into the mirror full face and trace your facial outlines with a makeup pencil or something else that can wash off afterwards. Tracing with a soapy finger can work, but it's harder to see. Then take a photo.
So I ticked for all the Ingenue features but I also ticked at least 50 % of Dramatic, Gamine and Romantic. What does it mean?
Great video ❤😊
My face is quite soft when I am relaxed/overly relaxed but gets a lot more pointy in the chin, jawline, nose and cheekbones when I smile?
Like I feel like my face is so off. When i try to answer the question i lean soft but the overall apperance isn't soft, and then when I smile it all goes out the window (except for my bubbly cheeks)
And i don't Identity with medium or mixed yin/yang either because it feels too wonky to say medium or mixed somehow?
For the picture, are we supposed to smile or have a straight face? I'm the type of person where if i dont smile, my face seems oval, no definition anywhere, but when i smile my cheekbones pop and make my face circular, because of the smiling circular face my chin seems much more pointed and round and soft. they look like 2 completely different face shapes which is part of the reason i struggle so much with face essenses. it's like i have 2 completely different vibes when i smile vs when i dont.
I wonder why you don’t get more sponsorships? You’re a fairly popular RUclips channel now.
Oh lucky me, I got a dramatic body type and a dramatic (slightly ethereal) essence :D matchy-matchy
This was very helpful and I realized that I had actually more romantic essence in my face than I thought 😂😂😂
Narrow eyes, rounded/full lips, soft round jaws, high cheekbones, short forehead
@@YumeraChauque I like that! Thank you 💞
another thing that helped me figure out my essence was by working backwards and figuring out what looks BAD on me. i'm short and have very small features (helpfully limits my options), but ingenue essence styling (bows, peter pan collars, big puffy sleeves) looks awful on me. instead of looking harmonious it looks like an ill-fitting costume. i'm much more of a gamine and i like to wear funky clothing!
What if your features change a great deal when you smile? Do you go off of smiling face or resting?
Small eyes, big nose, rectangle face, fine limp hair. Boy did I hit the genetic jackpot.
Cool so Im everything and tiny as heck and my body type clashes with everything. Ill never figure this out. Im almost completely moderate but not a classic...
Love this! I finally found out that I'm a romantic.
Dramatic and romantic essence😊
Hih ao based on this it seems ingenue, gamin, natural
Ethereal and romantic are about neck and neck for me with either dramatic, gamine or ingenue being my third essence. I'm thinking gamine because my very slight youthfulness is more Audrey Hepburn tomboyish than girlish. While the ingenue features overlap with romantic and dramatic overlaps with ethereal. Which leaves gamine. Interesting lol I wouldn't have thought it.
My highest score was Dramatic, followed by a tie between Gamine and Ethereal. Does that even make sense?
Dramatc 3
Nautural 5
Gamine 3
Classic 2
Ingenue 1
Romantic 5
Ethereal 2
What am I? 😭😂
So I’m struggling to figure out how to incorporate my ingenue essence into my personal style in a way that feels organic and comfortable to me 🙃
Ellie-Jean has a YT Short called "How do you dress for your essence AND your body type??#bodytypes #bodytypedressing #essences" that might help
@@t-calla Ooh, I’ll have to check it out! Thank you!
Try using accessories, shoes, and prints!
Cool! 'm either a natural or a classic lol Help!!
what essence would a diamond face shape have?
Any
I wish I could send you pictures of me to tell me my face type.
@@Carrie-sgda omg thank you so much!! I changed the pic so my whole face shows. I appreciate you taking the time out to write this to me 🥺🩷
@@strawbanna4eva123 from the new photo your jawline maybe slightly round and slightly square which would be classic
@@strawbanna4eva123 your welcome , it can be difficult trying to look at yourself objectively
I think romantic
What’s an egg face shape?
Each time I think I have mine figured out, I get lost again. 😂
I have a pfp & this acct is connected to my channel where there's videos of me, if anyone here feels particularly confident about their typing abilities. I at least THINK my face leans yang, so that's a start? 😅
I am everything and nothing 😭😭
I have a lot of natural, ethereal and romantic fearures. Natural>romantic>ethereal for me

I see dramatic, gamine, and romantic if that’s you in your profile picture. Not in that order.
