Would love a video on how to “dress down” for dramatics! All the examples are usually very editorial or formal, but street style would be so helpful (especially for dresses, since that’s what I personally wear)!
I recommend the channel Aly Art if you haven’t already heard of her. She does quite good breakdowns of each body type, I find helpful. She’s just done a summer one.
@@joanneryan3167 thank you so much for the tip! Her video was spot on for my style, needs, and shape, it’s like she looked in my closet and told me why my favorite pieces are my favorite pieces. Lots of elegant everyday wear.
I appreciate what you're saying around 3:25 about some things not changing in our bodies, but they absolutely do and that's one of the things I think causes a healthy skepticism with Kibbe. Something as simple as posture dramatically changes your shoulder, torso, and hip proportions, as well as our bones absolutely tend to change quite a lot with age and lifestyle. A friend of mine's mom was nearly 5'7" in her early twenties (approaching that automatic vertical point), and, due to lifting heavy weights for years, compressed her spine so she's now under 5'4" mid-forties. Torso shrinking is very common in general since our limbs lose little to no length with age. Pregnancy can cause your actual hips to be physically wider (or narrower!) due to the ligaments holding the bones together to relax and "stiffen" back up in different positions, and it often makes the ribcage physically wider as well due to the baby needing more room (particularly for folks with shorter torsos); some people lose an inch of height due to their feet flattening out. Years of working hunched at a computer desk will absolutely change your shoulder width and height, and then things like yoga and general stretching could eventually pull them back into place. Osteoporosis can cause your leg bones to bend (bowlegs) and/or your shoulders to round/slope. At which point should we find a Kibbe ID? When our body is "least changed?" When our body "settles?" Do these very real and obviously visual changes somehow not affect our ID which is, at the end of the day, based on visual impressions? I like Kibbe, but I don't think it's a bad thing to consider ID's may not be immutable, and people may have different accommodations in different seasons of life.
I'd love more modern and applicable recomendations for Romantics because almost everytime someone gives examples with photos they are really dated and old fashioned. I'm having a really hard time choosing more formal clothes for work without looking like I'm from a 1950's movie.
agreed on that. I'm also a R, usually save myself with 1950's silhouettes a lot. Unpopular opinion, but mixed fabrics like synthetic or viscose that tend to relax the stiffness of the blazers are helpful. And I also own a lot of belts that I toss over my "dramatic" blazers.
I know it's not a perfect example but how they dressed Kate Winslet's character in 'The Holiday' was really good. And also how Kate Winslet dressed for premiers and promos at that time was a really good mix of formal/professional, yet romantic...
As a romantic, I usually prefer to wear long high waisted pants with a belt and tucked into it a nice blouse that could be silky or shiny in color. Another thing I like wearing is tops that stop around the waist with any type of pants and a cardigan/blazer that stops at my waist area too. I guess you can try skirts too, like A line skirts or maxi skirts with blouses and tops. I also guess another thing you can try is to experiment with different types of flowy sleeves like bell sleeves, balloon sleeves, puffy sleeves as they are round and accommodate the roundness of our arms. The same for pants, I'm not really picky about the cut, so I like maxi pants, bell bottoms, straight cut but I hate skinny jeans as they emphasize the good and bad of my curves a bit too much. A quick list of what I said: - different type of sleeves, bell, balloon and puffy sleeves - different types of bottom cuts, like bell, maxi and straight - Belts of different thickness and designs - try different fabrics that tend to drape on one's body - like silk and chiffon - Try plain skirts that have waist emphasis and help you look taller like maxi skirts with slits and a line skirts I would also suggest searching up hijab friendly websites, as a lot of them have beautiful cuts and sleeves that look formal like from veiled collection. Sorry if my suggestions aren't that helpful as I wear hijab and most of my clothes tend to be covering!
I would love more videos on the Soft Natural type... Especially on how to look more polished. A lot of times with SN I feel like we get sort of skimmed over, or only shown casual or "boho" ways of dressing.
YESS!! I Its always flowy clothes with waist definition but that type of styling can be so restrictive esp depending on personal style and preference. Whenever more "edgier" or different styles are recommended they never really give the vibe of the edgy style either. Plus most videos on soft natural types feel so outdated since the majority of clothes recommended or shown in vids are kinda hard to find now especially if you're on a budget.
@@ieusrvt4 EXACTLY!!! I'm still in my early 20s, with a sort of vintage/edgy style. A lot of what is recommended would make me look like a middle-aged woman who dresses out of mail-order catalogs. Not that there's anything wrong with that demographic, obviously, but it just isn't ME.
I’m SD and I truly feel like there’s pretty much nothing normal I can wear. Sexy hourglass shaped dresses don’t work for a non-celebrity lifestyle. I’ve basically had to ignore Kibbe’s direction because it’s just not practical.
I'm a soft dramatic and I know what you mean. I've given up on trousers for the time being. I like wrap and faux wrap dresses. You can get more casual and less casual ones. X
@@atkcsc I’ve seen the Sofia veraga one and it’s a good video, but who can wear tight dresses with big ruffles daily? I don’t even want to wear Sofia Veraga-type clothes ever. She looks good but it’s not “me”. I actually put together a “kibbe SD” approved look (fitted black knit wrap top with matching soft long wide pants ) and thought it made me look like a big, voluptuous, house. The only thing I’ve found that I like in my kibbe “style lines” are super-long cardigans and long wrap dresses. Everything else I pretty much hate, not that there’s much else available.
Please do a video on every day dressing for the romantic. I really struggle with how to translate this to daily outfits without looking like I'm trying to look too dressy or heaven forbid, on the make!
Me too. I feel like with romantics all you get to wear is just floral outfits, which is not really my style. Also its easy to look frumpy because you are short as well. Its so hard sometimes 😩
Firstly, LOVED your explanation for how the Kibbe theory personally helped you. I feel exactly the same way, it was such a relief to learn to appreciate me as myself and not feel the need to change. I will say- I am curious about the Kibbe system after pregnancy though because I am positive it actually does change your bone structure slightly. The pelvis opens and my rib cage also opened more. Am I crazy? I’m pretty sure this is true, right? Maybe it doesn’t change it enough to count as changing into a different type! Love your channel! ❤️
I've birthed 4 children and my ribcage has expanded and my actual hip bones too. I'm still a soft natural possibly flamboyant natural but my hips aren't as narrow anymore so it makes it harder to tell
Soft Dramatic here...pregnancy and childbirth has just emphasized the type that I am! I used to think being hourglass made me a classic, lol. Now I can see the severe angularity in the bones and the lush squish on top much more clearly!
I'm not sure Kibbe's take but I've heard others say pregnancy CAN change your type but it most likely won't. I don't find my first pregnancy changed my shape enough to change my type (DC) but we'll see how this second one goes 😂
Would love a deep dive on flower style root for all the Kibbe types! Would be so helpful for looking feminine but not like I’m playing dress up as a flamboyant natural ❤️
What really helped me to find my type was hearing others of that body type describe their struggles with clothing or what doesn't work for them and why. I'm mostly moderate in height and proportions, so I thought I was maybe some kind of C until I saw an online SN discussion about things like turtlenecks and zipping up dresses. I struggle with both and that's what helped me to realize that I've got some upper body width to accommodate.
Yes, I agree with this. I thought I might be a SN until I heard their struggles. Blouses that don't fit at the top of your body? Never had that issue. Turtlenecks look awesome on me but still a lot of the "draped, flowy" advice for SNs worked for me. That's how I learned that I'm a Soft Dramatic. We are both Yang bodies with Yin flesh so it makes sense :)
i used to dress for my (non-kibbe) body type of being an hourglass and it always made me feel incredibly uncomfortable because i was dressing like what i now know as a romantic, and i'm much more comfortable now dressing for my body type as an fn
I’ve been into kibbe for years and never could settle on my type-knowing I was a natural but not knowing if I was FN or SN. I think your videos really clarified the kibbe system for me and I now know I’m probably an FN. It really makes sense now!
Here's some ACTUAL advice for Soft dramatics that doesn't suck: Nobody runs around in big chunky heels and cocktail dresses all day and nobody actually looks like Sofia Vergara 🙄We need more realistic approaches with real life examples! Girls, try high turtlenecks that hug your body with long flowy pants that can be tied at the waist. It's important to focus on dramatic first and romantic second as a SD. We sometimes fall into the trap of dressing like a TR but that can look a bit lost on our larger bodies. Dressing sexually will look very sexual. If you want to tone it down without looking frumpy you can wear casual looks with a long, tailored jacket to at least keep some length in your look. (If it has a belt even better!) Dressing casually as a SD is so difficult and the recommendations are sooo old fashioned. I've learned that flared pants look lovely but these modern high waisted wide pants make us look boxy and heavy. I feel like flowy and soft fabrics are key. Instead of forcing yourself into highly romantic terrain, try taking some inspo from flamboyant and soft naturals, Off shoulder will look awsome, wide neckline will look awesome, but so does high neckline. Round neck t-shirts are awkward and so are super low waisted jeans. I know high waisted jeans are trendy but they can really draw attention to that stubborn frontal belly fat and love handles that we have on our stunning curvy bodies. If your color seasons allows it, create mono-colored looks with a high neckline or wide neckline that hugs your body and add pants that are tight around the hips, yet loose on the bottom, ideally a soft/flowy fabric. From there you can add bigger accessories but if you don't like them try layering! Keep that vertical! You don't HAVE to accentuate your waist. You can actually wear shirts that end slightly above the hip because they move with your lower curve. Try switching to a side part to create more volume! Loose blouses can look great if tucked into the front of your pants! I hope that helps. I'm really sick of that half-assed sofia vergara advice. Dressing as a SD in everyday life is so so hard. Being tall and large and curve can make you feel so frumpy and out of place next to all of these delicate people. But once you embrace that curvilicious body of yours you will be surprised!
Now I understand why I hated collars on me so much in school and felt so off wearing them (and still do) as a Flamboyant Natural. And why dresses that look great on the hanger (usually curvy/sexy or structured) also didn't vibe with my body, creating a lot of disappointment in the dressing room 😅. Now I look for flowy, effortless and unstructured pieces with a wider neck line and I feel so beautiful in them! But would have never thought to look in that direction originally because I didn't want to be seen as "shapeless". Thank you so much for your helpful tips and videos!
Ellie-Jean, I just wanted to thank you for all of your incredible educational content! I learned about Kibbe body types, style essences, and color seasons through your channel, and it truly changed my life. Before stumbling across your videos, I could never see myself as beautiful or understand the basic principles of style (and didn't even know about any of these theories)! Learning about all of this has completely transformed my self-image in a positive way, and I am now able to embrace my inner beauty and make shopping informed decisions and even find my own style voice. It has even given me the confidence boost necessary to pursue modeling and to uplift me to the next level of my career. I am forever grateful to you for sharing this knowledge so generously and wisely. It is making the world a better place and adding some much-needed nuance to the online dialogue around body positivity, inclusion, consumerism, sustainability, and fashion psychology. I appreciate you and the work that you're doing (as a fellow Soft Classic with ethereal, classic, and ingenue essences and flower, stone, and sun style roots)! :)
Love this so much! I’d love to see a video on how to combine your body type with your style roots! How to keep your body types lines while adding in your style root for personality!
Your explanations were easy to understand and it actually helped me get back into kibbe types. It would be awesome, if you could display casual modern-day outfits that would fit each kibbe type? That could help those of us who still can't pinpoint our type. ❤
After a lot of back and forth, I think I am a soft classic. Even when I have been quite underweight I still have had that layer of softness to my face and body, so that is the soft part of soft classic😅 I also sort of feel like a shapeshifter, because the slightest change in detail in clothing/makeup/hair make me look like a different person😅 I find that I don’t need a lot of effort to make my look be more edgy/casual/elegant, but that also means that I quite easily can look over the top or like I am wearing a costume, which doesn’t leave me a lot of room to play. I also find it hard to find classic clothes on a budget, because the lines might be slightly off, or the pants might be slightly to short/long/wrong texture. I also struggle to match my body type to my face, since despite of having roundness and softness to my lower cheeks and eyes, I also have an elongated face and a slightly longer nose and not to much volume in the center of my face, which make me look a bit more yang and a bit off compared to my body. I just feel like it’s hard to make everything look balanced all the time, and would love to hear more about how to make facial feautures (essences) work with the different body types.
This video was so helpful! I’ve been trying to learn more about kibbe body types since I found your channel a few months ago and it has really helped me shop/put outfits together in the way that you described, but I still find some things a bit confusing. I would love a full length video on theatrical romantics! Especially on trouser silhouettes, are there any alternatives to harem pants? It would also be great, if you do decide to dedicate a video to each body type, to discuss how to combine all the different style roots with that body type!
FN here always looking for more info on my body type! Also please do a video on each style root diving deep into the things to keep in mind when shopping for each (silhouettes, outfit templates, fabrics, etc). I'm stone, earth, fire and I can't find that combo inspo anywhere!
I self-define as a Soft Natural with a side of Soft Dramatic only because I appear a bit taller than my 5’7” and love Flared / Boot Cut jean with wedge sandals. I feel totally weird in glam hair & makeup - love natural make-up & hair. Other than the jeans ~ definitely look better in soft natural clothing lines.
It's certainly a journey for Romantics to look elegant without having to use traditionally feminine details. I love florals but I want to use them without looking like a garden. 😂
Oh the misconceptions!!! I hate that people think naturals can wear a sack and pull it off. No! Right fitting matters for them very much ! It just has to be slightly relaxed compared to structured for instance
Omg, I always thought I was some kind of natural but i realise now I'm a theatrical romantic! Did the test and then followed up with this video, lined up perfectly! Thank you!
LOVE this video!!! I’ve been relatively certain that I am a romantic for a long time now, and after watching this I feel a lot more confident in what body types I am not. I would love a more in depth video on romantics, like maybe specific outfits!
I love your canal!!! Could you please make a video of how to dress in a cassual way for each of the body types? Thank you so much for teaching me so many things. Lots of hugs from Chile 🇨🇱❤️
Yessss. Watching this again. I’d love to see an analysis on Megan Fox. She might be a bit more difficult, but I’ve always loved watching her dress up. She has such a distinct presence.
I always enjoy your videos, Ellie-Jean and I've learned a lot from you this past year! I think I am a SN, but I have a hard time determining if my shoulders are "square" or "broad." What makes me lean in this direction (and away from SG) is my height 5'4" and also some of my favorite clothes over the years have followed the recommendations for SN. E.g. I need soft waist definition and loose fabrics work best for me (IMO). I would love if you could do more plus size examples of any of the body types..I know celebrities are usually verified by Kibbe so they are the easiest to use - totally get it! But it would be a nice way to expand your content. Keep up the great work! 💚
Do you feel restricted in turtlenecks or really any kind of high necklines? Do you have a hard time zipping up dresses near the ribcage or shoulders in a size that would fit you otherwise? That's how I realized I was a SN with some upper body width to accommodate.
@@susanstephan7689 hmm very interesting. I probably relate more to the rib cage scenario than the shoulders. I actually don't mind turtle necks, I've had a few I have loved in the past...I never thought of that. So interesting! I appreciate you commenting. I guess I've always been told/determined that I was "square". With a small curve. But I can attest that shapeless items really don't "hang" well as they would on an FB. I have never in my life been told I look petite, so I know I have a moderate frame for my general size. It's tricky!
Hi, I would love it if you could do a video for people who are around the height of 5 feet 6 /7 inches who could fall into dramatic classic, soft dramatic, or dramatic, as I find it very hard to distinguish between these three. I see a lot of confusion on Reddit about these catogories too. Thank you :)
Id love to see more in depth style recommendation videos on each type! Even while reading recs I often cant figure out what pieces meet the criteria when shopping.
Just getting into Kibbe body types after having two kids and being the heaviest I’ve ever been, I simply can’t “get away” with wearing clothing that doesn’t fit my lines the way I could when I was much thinner. I have lots of curve and round lines so the romantic type resonated with me first, but after listening to this video the soft classic seems to reflect outfits that have consistently flattered me over the years so maybe I have some yang somewhere that I haven’t fully noticed yet. Related, this explains why having 100% bluntly cut stick straight hair has never looked right on me. Even if I’m not wearing my natural curls, I need a curvy line in my hair somewhere. It’s because the yang hairstyle does not match up with my more yin features. Mind blown!
I am a tall dramatic! I've found myself really drawn to trousers, high waisted and pleated. They define my waist without being fussy or frou-frou. I also look good in a short denim skirt and fishnets, idc what anyone says. Having a garment fitted around my hips and leaving my legs out DOES accommodate the vertical -- because I'm showing off my long legs! It doesn't have to be all maxi skirts if you're a tall girl.
I would love video on what to do if color season clashes with body type. In the other video you’ve said that gemine looks great in high contrast, so what if they’re soft summer or soft autumn which doesn’t tolerate high contrast?
I have a question: what if the recommendations for my body type are in contrast with the recommendations for my essence? For example I am a Flamboyant Gamine with a very obvious Ethereal essence, but I feel like the lines that are suggested are the opposite😅
Ellie Jean, are you the same essence as Margot Robbie?? Cuz to me it looks like you are with light bright summer ?? Your makeup suits you beautifully in this video and I noticed right away how light yet becoming it is on you - you look beautiful 💁🏽♀️
I'd love to see a video on how to dress for a romantic type (like me) that honours my shape but I'm not as into being ultra-feminine, so like what would be good ideas for casual wear and clothing that isn't structured (I like soft and thin fabrics due to having sensory issues)
I find the system so helpful and your explanations are brill. Funnily enough though, my bones structure has actually changed from having a baby! Hips and ribs wider than they were, some find their shoulders too
so, the problem that I have with this is that it doesn't seem to account for stockiness in women; it would almost seem that I am yin, but I am not delicate; frankly, my body type is much more closely compared to fantasy dwarfs; I am short, have broad shoulders, and stocky; if you go old school with body types, I am an hourglass; so none of these quite work for me
Could you please make a video about everyday street style clothing for romantics? Seems like everything recommended for romantics is too elegant, too formal
I love your videos but I would love to see more examples of plus sized bodies within the different body types and essences, as a size 18 it’s hard for me to see myself if all or most of the examples are of people much smaller than me
I would love to know more in depth about dramatic classic and especially necklines that work and overall outfits. I have read Kibbe recommendations but is there more that work since it is quite restrictive to only wear v-necklines and turtle necks etc ☺️
Thank you so much for this video 🙂❤ Please make a video about dressing Soft dramatics, I think it is so difficult. For example: Are you supposed to always be in one color all the way through? If not, how do you get the vertical line accommodated? 💃
I'm a romantic with ingenue essence (I think) and I've always wondered by certain things seem to look bad on me. I've never felt comfortable in regualar old t-shirts unless they're cut a very specific way and even then it doesn't look as good as it could. Sometimes I like juxtaposition in my clothes and so sometimes if I want to look more intimidating I wear more angular shapes like collared button downs or boxy sleeveless tops. However, I don't like wearing that all the time, and that's where I draw a blank. I don't love most blouses because they remind me of my mom and I don't want to dress like my mother. So I just don't know where to go from there. I've never felt comfortable in my clothes, not even in high school when I was going through my experimental phase, so I just feel really frustrated and overwhelmed. I have very low self esteem and everyone always says that this stuff helps a lot but all I've gotten so far on my journey so far is stress. I loved your video on style roots, that helped me a lot to figure out my personal style better which is mostly what I experimented with in high school. However silhouettes and lines and shapes that work for me is where I draw a blank. I know what they are but I just don't understand what that means for me as far as clothes go. Some of the examples you gave here for me I have tried and they just aren't my style or look terrible on me, but I don't fit any other type. I just have no idea what to do anymore.
Body proportions like relative head size can make people of the same height appear longer or more blunt, according to Kibbe (and Balanchine I guess, who declared ballerinas should be low to the ground but have small heads and long limbs)
My summery, im one of those three but are unsure which one. So i listen to all those tips😅 Soft natural, waist definition, round soft shapes Dramatic classic: minimal,s u mmetry, no pattern, blazer and t, Romantic: anything Soft and round, small jewelry
I've been told I look tall in pictures, despite being 5'6". I also noticed that turtle necks work well for me and make me look more defined. I think i look terrible in wide pants. I wonder if this indicates anything.
I think am a theatrical romantic although I’m 5’7. I disagree that weight changes don’t make a difference. If you gain/lose a dramatic amount of weight it can bring out your features. I didn’t realize how narrow my shoulders actual were until I lost 80lbs, although I always knew they were narrow compared to my hips.
I am an FN, always have to size up to accomodate my wide square shoulders, but I have a small ribcage. I read a lot of Kibbe on this and he just says ribcage/waist is less important a feature, like it can go either way, and he does say somewhere, I think in the original book, that FN's can have an hourglass figure. If that helps anyone.
Would love a comparison of soft classic lines and romantic lines focusing on silhouette/cuts/lines and not details since I feel like aside from the details (minimal SC vs ornate R) there's overlap in SC/R lines in that they both call for soft fabrics, roundness, and waist emphasis. It's hard for me to tell if I'm an SC with dominant romantic essence or R with dominant classic essence since it's hard to separate the lines of the image IDs from the details that could be influenced by essences
I love my soft gamine body. But also, it is so hard just putting together outfits sometimes. 😩 Exhausting at times. And I find that the simpler I try to be, the less simple it makes dressing because simple is not usually the answer. 😵💫 Can’t win sometimes.
Hello, by now I've probably watched every video on Kibbe on Yt in hopes to find my answers... Does somebody by any chance know how to find out the difference between SN and SD? Please...? 😅
Ss a SG i constantly feel so unattractive in what im wearing. I didnt realise SG was considered one of the most complicated types but i can really feel it!
Ok don’t pretend like you wouldn’t get a job or a second date cuz of your outfit 😂 it’s just for people who like balance and symmetry in their ensambles, that’s it! That’s me! Lol but let’s not pretend it’s more than that
Hello Ellie-Jean! I love your videos! Could you please make a comparison between body types, specifically soft gamine and theatrical romantic? They seem very similar to me and I was classified as soft gamine by one professional and as a theatrical romantic by another. Are they that close to each other? Thank you very much for your videos!
I have such a hard time finding the perfect fit for sweaters. I'm trying to find my body type so I can make better shopping decisions. I'm petite, have little waist definition, but have some roundness. So hard!
SO interesting. I am apparently a dramatic classic. This explains why NO item of clothing in my closet has EVER had a collar or a ruffle or a gather. If I try these clothes on I very literally feel like I am playing dress up and look ridiculous. I’m 70 now and my 30 year old daughter (who has the same features as me) feels the same. We joke that if we wear a pattern, it is ONLY a stripe, never a print. But, because we don’t know much about “fashion” we wind up looking plain and kind of invisible. There may be Hope yet. We don’t even like to wear dresses. I mean, I don’t own one. Neither does she.
Flamboyant Naturals...I've come to the conclusion I'm a FN with Flower Sun Moon style roots and am attempting to find the more feminine style that fit my body type without looking like I'm dressing awkwardly 😓
I am still a bit unsure if I am a Soft Dramatic or a Soft Classic, and I find it a bit hard to see what are the thoughts about how to dress put on me by others, personal preferences and what are actually my lines. They both resonate with me in different ways, and I think it boils down to Soft Dramatic being how I feel like i should dress and Soft Classic being more how I want to present myself. I don’t even know if that makes sense or if there are much similarity between those two types.
Could u do an in depth analysis on romantics? I’m not curvy really or girly either. In fact, I’ve always hated dresses Bc I felt they weren’t comfortable and I just felt they weren’t practical Bc I like to be very active and get my hands dirty. I’m also a dark winter ingenue and my colors clash a bit Bc they’re more intense than romantic colors. Idk much about style roots but from what I’ve seen I’m more along the lines of moon and stone. The paradox is annoying 😂😭
Hi Ellie-Jean I took the Kibbe test online and am very confused about the result. Can you help me decode the result and tell me my type? These are my answers: 1d, 2d, 3a, 4a, 5b, 6e, 7c, 8b, 9d, 10c, 11a, 12a, 13c, 14c, 15d So total: a=4, b=2, c=4, d=4, e=1 Bone structure: a=2, d=2 Flesh: b=2, c=1, d=1, e=1 Face: a=2, c=3, d=1 Hope you or someone else can help! 😃
I think I might be DC instead of FG after hearing this simple breakdown. But I definitely have some gamine essence, so I need some playful patterns and details for sure.
She’s just done a summer one.
yes please

I was thinking the same. I'm dramatic type but suits and shirts and shoulder pads aren't my thing

Same with Soft Dramatics. It's so annyoing and unrealstic for everyday life.🙄
I know it's not a perfect example but how they dressed Kate Winslet's character in 'The Holiday' was really good. And also how Kate Winslet dressed for premiers and promos at that time was a really good mix of formal/professional, yet romantic...
Drew Barrymore wears a lot of jeans and tops that have tailoring to suggest a feminine shape but are not actually tight or stiff
A quick list of what I said:
- different type of sleeves, bell, balloon and puffy sleeves
- different types of bottom cuts, like bell, maxi and straight
- Belts of different thickness and designs
- try different fabrics that tend to drape on one's body - like silk and chiffon
- Try plain skirts that have waist emphasis and help you look taller like maxi skirts with slits and a line skirts
I would also suggest searching up hijab friendly websites, as a lot of them have beautiful cuts and sleeves that look formal like from veiled collection.
Sorry if my suggestions aren't that helpful as I wear hijab and most of my clothes tend to be covering!
Man. I have watched like 50 videos and still understood nothing.
Once you figure out your type it’s much easier. I am a soft dramatic for example. ☯️
Same
I watch these videos and get back to my usual dressing style😊
I watch all these and go back to wearing kurtis and long dresses, anything cute that fits me and feels like 'me' 🤣
i honestly just go for waist emphasis at this point
I think Ellie-Jean made a video on this. Forgot what it was called tho
I think she has a video on Sofia Vergara and her daytime wear for SDs. I'm one of them too, and I despise large patterns 😅
I'm a soft dramatic and I know what you mean. I've given up on trousers for the time being. I like wrap and faux wrap dresses. You can get more casual and less casual ones. X
It's super impractical and frustrating!!
Yesss me too
i third this , i seriously struggle and look frumpy
Me too. I feel like with romantics all you get to wear is just floral outfits, which is not really my style. Also its easy to look frumpy because you are short as well. Its so hard sometimes 😩
Marilyn Monroe have some cute casual outfits. Jeans and a white blouse or printed capris with a turtle neck was her go to for casual fits.
Same here! I can't stand wearing dresses, so it gets really difficult to find what to wear since romantic body type is said to be meant for dresses!
Yes, i had straight hips before pregnancy. Afterwards, my hips sort of stick out if that makes sense.
I swear I feel the same way!
If your head is swimming from all the terms and recommendations, this video is all you need. Short and sweet and to the point!
Ayy the best feedback! Thank you x
Yes. That would be so long. But, I would still watch it.
Yes, please do more Kibbe videos. I am interested in Romantic, Theatrical Romantic, and Soft Gamine-cuz I can’t figure out which I am!
Please do a more in depth video for dramatic classics 😍
Ah!!! You just explained DC in a way that makes so much more sense to me! Thank you!!
Yes!!! ❤️
Wow loved the intro part where you showed all the body type names with different writing and background
Spectacular editing 😍🤯
Thank you :)
yes!! seconded
What Reddit sub do you see this on? I’d love to join it!
Me too! Exact situation. Would love direction on this as well!
Id love to see more in depth style recommendation videos on each type! Even while reading recs I often cant figure out what pieces meet the criteria when shopping.
Would love a video on Flamboyant Natural and Soft Dramatic 😊 more in depth
This is the first time I really got it 🥰 thank you so much!!
I would love video on what to do if color season clashes with body type. In the other video you’ve said that gemine looks great in high contrast, so what if they’re soft summer or soft autumn which doesn’t tolerate high contrast?
This was very helpful and straightforward
I have a question: what if the recommendations for my body type are in contrast with the recommendations for my essence? For example I am a Flamboyant Gamine with a very obvious Ethereal essence, but I feel like the lines that are suggested are the opposite😅
Thank you! I've recently discovered your channel and it's been super helpful with helping me sort through my wardrobe and find my confidence.
Ellie Jean, are you the same essence as Margot Robbie?? Cuz to me it looks like you are with light bright summer ?? Your makeup suits you beautifully in this video and I noticed right away how light yet becoming it is on you - you look beautiful 💁🏽♀️
First time I have really understood the different types after watching a ton of videos! Thank you so much, you explain things so well :)
I'd love to see a video on how to dress for a romantic type (like me) that honours my shape but I'm not as into being ultra-feminine, so like what would be good ideas for casual wear and clothing that isn't structured (I like soft and thin fabrics due to having sensory issues)
Please do a extra Video for Romatics, would be so helpful for me!!
I find the system so helpful and your explanations are brill. Funnily enough though, my bones structure has actually changed from having a baby! Hips and ribs wider than they were, some find their shoulders too
so, the problem that I have with this is that it doesn't seem to account for stockiness in women; it would almost seem that I am yin, but I am not delicate; frankly, my body type is much more closely compared to fantasy dwarfs; I am short, have broad shoulders, and stocky; if you go old school with body types, I am an hourglass; so none of these quite work for me
sounds like a Soft Natural :)
Like Florence Pugh ❤
@@joyfulgirl91 just looked her up, you may be on to something there
Could you please make a video about everyday street style clothing for romantics? Seems like everything recommended for romantics is too elegant, too formal
I love your videos but I would love to see more examples of plus sized bodies within the different body types and essences, as a size 18 it’s hard for me to see myself if all or most of the examples are of people much smaller than me
Best video yet! So clear! Thank u!🙌🏻✨
Can you do a deep dive on each type? Im a FN and I don’t understand how to dress still and then adding my style roots in? Confused for sure.
Very handy! I thank at the end a little part was switched up. Because it wss first the outro and then again a littke part about romantics.
Ive done quizes, watched all your videos and i still have no idea what my body type is 😢
I would love to know more in depth about dramatic classic and especially necklines that work and overall outfits.
Yes please!
Me the entire video: oh I’m def that. Oh I could be that. Wait maybe I’m that too? Lol
Loving your content recently and you/your make up looks so gorgeous here!
Thank you for this. I like your style roots. I struggle to see how one can have petite and vertical, but that's not your fault!
Body proportions like relative head size can make people of the same height appear longer or more blunt, according to Kibbe (and Balanchine I guess, who declared ballerinas should be low to the ground but have small heads and long limbs)
My summery, im one of those three but are unsure which one. So i listen to all those tips😅
Soft natural, waist definition, round soft shapes
Dramatic classic: minimal,s u mmetry, no pattern, blazer and t,
Romantic: anything Soft and round, small jewelry
OK, I am ready for the deep dives! Great intro video.
This finally helped me understand!!! I still need to go deeper but a great overview 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️
I've been told I look tall in pictures, despite being 5'6". I also noticed that turtle necks work well for me and make me look more defined. I think i look terrible in wide pants. I wonder if this indicates anything.
Knowing for sure what suits and don't suits you is a major way to avoid blind spending in shopping, online or offline. A big save on money.
I would really appreciate a detailed video on SN please.
Thank you for your video! I think it would be a great idea for you to make a video about dresses for each body type
😵💫 Can’t win sometimes.
love your content! a video on flamboyant naturals would be fab.
Please, do a Video on kibbe width!
That’s me! Lol but let’s not pretend it’s more than that
I think she meant if you felt less confident because you were uncomfortable
Discovering your channel is a boon for me ❤
Hello Ellie-Jean! I love your videos!
Could you please make a comparison between body types, specifically soft gamine and theatrical romantic? They seem very similar to me and I was classified as soft gamine by one professional and as a theatrical romantic by another. Are they that close to each other?
Thank you very much for your videos!
Please do a video for TR!
There may be
Hope yet. We don’t even like to wear dresses. I mean, I don’t own one. Neither does she.
Trying to figure out how to accommodate my dramatic classic body type with a flower/fire/earth style 😬
If you have a short torso what body type are you most likely to be?
May you do handbags for the Kibbe types PLEASE? 😩
Flamboyant Naturals...I've come to the conclusion I'm a FN with Flower Sun Moon style roots and am attempting to find the more feminine style that fit my body type without looking like I'm dressing awkwardly 😓
Soft gamine please! There’s so much to keep up with.
SG here I think instinctually we tend to lean to the clothes that work even if we do not know why.
Love this!
after binging almost all your videos last night, i think i've realized i'm basically a true romantic through and through 🙈
Thank you
This was fascinating 🧐
Hi Ellie-Jean
I took the Kibbe test online and am very confused about the result. Can you help me decode the result and tell me my type?
These are my answers:
1d, 2d, 3a, 4a, 5b, 6e, 7c, 8b, 9d, 10c, 11a, 12a, 13c, 14c, 15d
So total: a=4, b=2, c=4, d=4, e=1
Bone structure: a=2, d=2
Flesh: b=2, c=1, d=1, e=1
Face: a=2, c=3, d=1
Hope you or someone else can help! 😃
LOL it's tough. I'm 5'9, romantic face type with a carrot shape body and there are some cute styles. I wish I can wear but lack the curves.
How much style advice can we take from similar shapes? As a soft dramatic, should I take dramatic advice?
Please make a video on Flamboyant Naturals..
I think I might be DC instead of FG after hearing this simple breakdown. But I definitely have some gamine essence, so I need some playful patterns and details for sure.
Could you do one of these for men??
She made a style roots video for men which was really interesting!
@@joyfulgirl91 Yes! I loved it and it was super helpful. I'd love to learn more about their Kibbe types too
