  • In this week's video, I paint atmospheric mountains and a loch in Skye, Scotland.
    Using a beautiful Patreon members photo as a reference, I demonstrate how to achieve light and atmosphere with the first wash. I also paint a rainbow, which possibly one of the most difficult things to get right !!

    One thing I've learned is that "less is more" when painting impressionistic watercolor.
    Perfect example here... and wonderful step-by-step explanations. Thank you.

    Watching you paint, I’m a newbie, and the way you explain gave me the biggest aha moment! I live on a small island in Alaska and I can’t wait to give your way a go!
    ☺️ thank you!

    Nice demo .I used to do watercolour until I found acrylic more reliable.

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt  Месяц назад

      Thank you. Acrylic and watercolour are completely different, neither is more “reliable” than the other. Both have their benefits, depending on what you’re trying to achieve.

    Beautiful ❤️, but I felt you being scared of overdoing the rainbow, 🌈 is actually very challenging, good justice done👍

    I don’t understand how you dont get cauliflowers. Does the paper really stay wet that long in the first phase? Is that why?

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt  Месяц назад

      @@bordergirl Generally, you get cauliflowers by adding paint that is wetter than what’s already on the paper. It’s about controlling the water on the paper and brush.

    Are you using hot press paper?
