I find that hake brushes regularly “shed” bristles onto my paper. Frustrating!

I can’t tell you how many times I have come back and admired this painting. I love it. So much so that I decided to give it a go myself. To date, it’s the piece I’m most pleased with. I’m trying not to depend on strictly following tutorials and instead create my own pieces but there’s just something about this one…. It was a real confidence-booster. That is a good effect. Lightening the borders, lessening the contrast. I wonder how one could achieve it right in the original painting? Oh, and shouldn't the birds have wings in different positions in the flock?

I think of the light color spots in the winter trees as tiny branches, rather than leaves.

Wow, Chris. So glad I found this. What you’ve done with the light AND the water effect here-just beautiful. I’m curious about Bockingford paper. We hear so much about 100% cotton paper, but this isn’t. (I think?) Yet you achieve such wonderful things with it. I was just wondering what it is that you find appealing about it. It seems to handle a lot. Thank you, as always.
