    I am dumbfounded. I watched this entire process, and I still don't know how you pulled this amazing landscape out of three colors and a lot of water. When you drew the droplets of paint across the stream with the rigger, the effect was so stunning, I actually slapped my hand over my mouth. This is beautiful. Thank you. • @ChrisStephenArt

      Because not all trees are green. Also, different atmospheric conditions can cause certain wavelengths of light to be filtered out. And more importantly, it’s a painting, so it’s all about aesthetics

    I love your work, and really enjoyed the demo. Thanks. I have resolved the scrubbing issue with the pans by using a pipette and dropping 1 or 2 drops of water on the pan before starting, and work them a little with my brush. If they’re really dry I also, like you, mist first. This way I find the pigment is nice and concentrated, & being mindful of costs, I seem to waste less paint. Either way, I think it is really useful to be flexible around the issue, and I really appreciated the way you presented both sides.

    I think tubes versus pans is a matter of what you're used to. I personally find I use too much paint if I use tubes. But I definitely pre-wet the pans, it only takes a moment. Each to their own, lol.

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt 2 дня назад

      Absolutely, it’s all about personal preference. I usually use tubes as I like the ability to make stronger washes. Until you’ve used both you’ll never know the difference 😊

      I don’t really have a favourite brand, Ralph. I do have certain favourite colours from several different brands. A few of my favourites at the moment are, Lukas, W&N, Maimeri blu, Jackson’s own brand are also quite good. The Michael Harding watercolours are nice, but a little expensive.

    Beautiful painting. I know you were sent these to demo, but would you consider this brand (pan and tube) to be professional quality? Would you use them for finished works to sell, perhaps as a replacement for what you use now? Thanks.

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt 2 дня назад

      My honest opinion is that the tubes are good quality, the pans were a little hard to reactivate and a little under pigmented. I would use both for finished paintings, as the lightfastness is listed as good. I already use several different brands so will probably integrate a few of them into my existing palette at some point.

    • @ChrisStephenArt
      @ChrisStephenArt 2 дня назад

      I pretty much always use tube paint, it’s far stronger in pigment and easier to get larger amounts of paint in the brush. As I mentioned in the video, pans are good for travel, but I would usually refill them with tube paint, just for practical reasons. Glad you liked the video
