This is exactly what I have been experimenting with - combining multiple photo references. Besides making better use of my too large collection of photos from places I've been, it's just more inspiration in the one painting and stretches the possibilities without having to entirelydepend on memory and imagination. 😊💛
That’s quite a nice interpretation of a reference photo. That sky! I believe that smaller rear part of a windmill is called a tail. I enjoyed that. Thank you.
I think that we must have the most interesting skies in the world here in UK ! A lovely painting of "an old friend" (Cley Mill) . Thank you for all the tips.
Hi, Ian. I haven’t, although I’ve seen it done. I wouldn’t want to create something I really liked, only for it then to be coffee, and fade. I find there are far better pigments available.
@@ChrisStephenArt Dziękuję za odpowiedź. Mam akwarele Roman Szmal i mi nie idzie dobrze. Używam papieru Aquapard clarefontaine celulozowy . Gdzie błąd tkwi? Pro podpowiedz mi. Mogę kupić tylko co?❤️
Awesome! Well done! Thank you for the beautiful tutorial. I really love the values .
Thanks so much
Lovely atmosphere, looks like I'll need a jacket and an umbrella! Thanks for this demo.
Thanks so much

Absolutely, you should use whatever it takes to make the painting work

@@sgv323 Thanks Sewall, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, a tail. That makes sense !!
I meant to ask, in general, do you use natural brushes only, or a combination of natural and synthetic brushes. Just curious. Thanks so much, Chris.
@@sgv323 Yes, I use natural hair for watercolour. I tend to use synthetics for oil painting.
@@ChrisStephenArt Thank you

We certainly do get some great ones, especially in Norfolk
I need to learn patience! If I had painted a sky like yours in the beginning, I would have given up....
Such a lovely painting.Thank you😊
Thanks so much
Great timing! I just photographed a windmill in the vinyards and was wondering how to make it more dramatic. Now I can't wait to start it.
Fantastic, that worked out well !!

It's so helpful that you show how you're mixing your paints! I have so much trouble getting the paint to water ratio correct.
Glad you found it helpful. You will get the ratios correct with time and practice.
Lovely painting

Nie wiedziałam, że nie ma znaczenia wymiana wody w pojemnikach. Twoje obrazy są świetne i nastrojowe
You don’t need to change it after every painting. Unless you want to, of course. I usually change it each day.
Спасибо!
You’re welcome!
hi Chris, can I ask you have you ever tried using coffee powder, ? to paint like watercolour.
Hi, Ian. I haven’t, although I’ve seen it done. I wouldn’t want to create something I really liked, only for it then to be coffee, and fade. I find there are far better pigments available.
Piękny ten pejzaż. Czy można wiedzieć jakimi farbami to malujesz?
Thank you. Lukas, Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Michael Harding.

I would suggest 100% cotton paper. Paper is the most important thing you can buy. That and practice every day !!
❤❤❤
Thank you
Really good Chris. I just wish it was as simple as you say! 👍🏻
Thank you. I suppose it’s difficult if you haven’t done it before. But, with daily practice and determination, it gets easier. Honest !! 😊
It would be considerably better if the field were much darker. It's not too late! 😉
Maybe. It’s more a demonstration on transposing a sky. But, I get your point
@@ChrisStephenArtGood man.
