In high school I would wash my hair at night, put it up in a pony tail and curl it with socks. Easy to sleep in and my hair would be super full and curled in the morning.

What a fun and easy way to get curly hair. I’m reminded of when I was a kid (back in the 60’s). My mom would curl my hair every Saturday night using those wire curlers that had bristle brushes in the middle and every Sunday morning it was so painful trying to get them out after sleeping in them all night.
My mother, grandmother and great grandmother all curled their hair using strips of cloths. My mom used sponge curlers as well as pin curling. Curling hair without heat has been around a long time!

I’ve used socks for years. I just took the sock out a few minutes ago. Ha! I use coconut oil too. It’s perfect. I’m 62 and have beautiful, soft, curly hair.

For those that do have curly hair and don't want it, they used a real iron, with a towel over your hair and someone ironed your hair on the ironing board while you leaned over. What a lovely family you have.

I actually have to use a straightening iron to get it to not be super curly...

Everything old is new again. I am 57 and my mom showed me how to roll my hair on socks when I was about that age. If you do it well, it makes beautiful lasting curls.
My mother did this to 6 girls. She used cut up pillow cases or bobby pins.She also put in more than 6 so there wouldn't be long straight parts before the curls start.
I had blonde hair until I hit about 13 and puberty struck. My hair went strawberry blonde and then auburn by my early 20’s. It is also now naturally curly. I bet Sophia has gorgeous hair when she’s grown if her hair now is any preview!

You can do this with dish towels cut in strips. They use to do this in the 50's and 60's, called rag curls.
