@@francesfehrman741part your hair into two like she did and then part those two parts in half again so that you twist around the robe both ways, she isn’t doing it so it will probably roll down. There is probably another video on how to do it right
Tip for avoiding that clean split/hair separation in the back from when you part your hair into two: Take a comb and make a zigzag part from the top of the back of your head all the way down. that way it'll all blend together when you take it out :)
Everyone says here that they want to try it and never come back, so here I am: I tried it a few times and it works beyond expectations! It somehow holds better than with all the curling irons I've tried and the curl itself is tighter. Thanks a lot for the clear explanation!
I also tried it for a wedding. I've tried a bunch of heafless curls before (headband curls, rollers) and this is my favourite! I used a fabric belt from a shirt I had, folded it in half so it was thicker and the curls lasted all day and looked so good. It was okay to sleep with, and still work when I just did it first thing in the morning and took it out 3 hours later. So good I'm literally going to use it when I do my hair for my wedding.
These curls are amazing! I’m a side sleeper and I recommend tying the ends together in the back (you should end up with a sort of halo/crown thingy) I found it comfy to sleep this way. Thanks for the video girl, your hair is beautiful!!
I'm 54 and when I was little it was a popular way of curling our hair except we didn't use robe belts. We used rags...pieces of material were cut into rags and you can have all different sizes and curls with them. To get the style of curl you see here you would use thinner rags and simply wrap your hair around them and tie to the other end of rag at the top. Super simple but you have to use more than one rag for smaller curls. If I am not mistaken this technique was used in Victorian times as well. Sometimes the techniques for hair that we used long ago work better than the tools we have today. No heat curls helps to keep your hair super healthy too🥰 Beautiful curls!!
I'm 37 & I remember when I was about 8 years old having to sit still while my mom would wrap my hair around little pieces of rags so I could have curly hair without getting a perm, lol. I also remember how hard it was to get comfortable enough to sleep with rag rollers in my hair. Those tiny buns felt pretty hard pressing against my head sometimes
Yes! I have been doing this from the start! I actually prefer this to *any* method for my hair because it's foolproof and lasts the longest. I'm so glad you made this video. Changed my life.
I just tried this, and it turned out well! I am 50+ with about 50% grey hair, also very fine and very flat. This style just looks great with grey hair, and the curls seem to be holding all day with adding some curl mousse before doing the robe curl method. It will take some practice on my part, but it was fairly easy to do. Thanks so much for a great tutorial!
Jamee, you and I are in luck now, as grey is apparently in vogue. (All these 20-somethings are dying their hair GREY. Go figure.) I'm happy to read your comment because I was hesitant to try this rope curl method with my fine hair. Now, I'll do it. Thanks! :)
I've been watching your updo videos for a wedding I have coming up and stumbled across this one. I tried it last night to prep my hair for the updo/possibly wear just the curls for their rehearsal dinner and it's the best heatless curls I've ever tried! I tried it on same day clean, dry hair and sprayed a little of the BB honey heat shield mist to smooth out my hair and calm the frizz before wrapping. I used to be on dance team in high school and my hair was almost in a permanent state of being curled using many different methods but they never looked this good! So worth the minimal prep time and looking like Princess Leia (says my husband) to get these beautiful curls! I also followed the tip of someone else below in the comments of doing a zig zag part in the back so the curls fall more naturally on both sides in the back and it worked perfectly. My wrapping technique needs a little work (I tried but couldn't wrap as tightly as the video shows - I'm very much a newbie at any kind of hair anything), so with a little practice I'm sure they'll turn out even better the next time. It usually takes me 45 min - 1 hr to curl my long, thick hair with a wand so I will be forever using this method :) It was also super comfy to sleep in as a back and side sleeper and I wore it for 9 1/2 hrs (big sleep gal over here haha). THANK YOU Lainey for this video :)
I actually found this from another creator about 5 years ago, and I have to say your technique is so up to par! We are on the same level and that makes me so happy! And thank you so much for sharing this wisdom with other people. I get asked all the time how my hair holds the perfect curls and I always say I just sleep in something and everybody wants to know how it's done but sometimes explaining things is hard and you made it a breeze. Thank you for promoting this type of hairstyle as it is so healthy for your hair, the satin that you use for a rope or for whatever around your head can really help with split ends, and if anybody is wondering what they can do to even heighten this experience. Sleep with a satin bonnet on top. Secured. Stuff all of the hair into the satin bonnet and in the morning take off the bonnet and nothing has moved and your hair is super shiny! Happy healthy hair styling!
I LOVE THESE CURLS!!! My hair is naturally straight, and I don't like it that way, so I've been trying curling irons, the curling blow dryers, even curlers and nothing achieved the look I wanted. BUT THESE ARE AMAZING! It's super easy to do, which makes it perfect for me, because I'm not good at doing my own hair lol. I love them so much and they are so beautiful!!!
This is so cool, when there is an occasion coming up,my mom tries to come up with her own hairstyles and she kept trying to make my hair curly but nothing works! But when I saw this video I told my mom "mom, this girl is so smart" my mom was shocked on how easily you did it!
I love this! I’ve tried rope curls before and this methods is easier to take out the next day ( no knots are tangles) and looks way more natural cause girls don’t all curl the same direction. Thank you so much for sharing this !❤️❤️❤️
Used this method on my teenage daughter and it works beautifully! We even used it for her homecoming dance and the curls were gorgeous. Saved money not having to go get her hair professionally done! Thank you!!
Tried it last night and was completely blown away this morning!!! I've been using another technique with socks before that yielded a pretty decent result but only starting under the ear. So this one frames the face better and is definetly an upgrade. Thanks for the great tutorial!
I tried this the night before a wedding and it worked so good! It was amazing. Thank you so much for this video. My hair held the curls the whole day and looked fantastic. Life changer.
This is AMAZING! Not only is it super simple but fast! I have an 9 month old daughter who's crawling everywhere and getting into everything. I dont have to worry about her grabbing rollers, curling irons or wands. I love these curls. They look awesome and they last for days as long as I pull them tight. Thank you so much for this!!!!
I appreciate your tutorials. Since the pandemic my hair has grown about 7 additional inches. Super long and I have a hard time doing long hair so thank you. 💕
I tried this last night and am so happy with the results! My curls lasted all day without the need for hair spray, which doesn't typically happen with my hair. Thank you so much for sharing this technique! 💖
I have waist length wavy, curly hair and have never found a way to sleep and keep my hair from tangling and loosing its curl definition, pineapple does not work with this much hair so I am so thankful to have found your video. I am going to try doing this process with dry hair to see how it works.
IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!!! I tried this last night and was like "Oh well, i got nothing to lose" and i woke up this morning and undid my hair and it was curled beautifully!!! I am never using a curling iron again. I highly recommend this!!!
Unbelievable!! I’m trying it tonight! Just finished and I didn’t get it as tight as she did, but for my first it’s not bad. Now to bed and we’ll see how it turns out! Thanks for showing us this!!
Update: it turned out gorgeous! I am shocked because my braid was loose and I thought I would have bumps at the back of my head and it just looks amazing! It’s pretty fail proof so if you were hesitant to try it.. go for it!
I curl my hair like every 3 days and I’ve been trying to find a way to do it without heat, but I just know that thing that has been trending that people wrap their hair around would not work for me. I feel like the curls would fall in miliseconds. But I do have an abundance of robes! And I feel like your hair type is similar to mine. I’m going to try this tonight. Thank you so much!
Did this, love it! I have short hair so I was sceptical, and i used a dress belt which isnt as thick... I literally went to bed with the attitude of oh well if it doesn't work ill shower it out... woke up this morning with super curls and I love it! With it being so hot I didnt want to bother with having to do my hair in the morning, especially with heat so this was perfect. I've tried the robe belt before but alternating each turn of hair makes a massive difference. Thank you for such a detailed video! ❤
My grandma used to do my hair in a similar manner 60 years ago. Called them rag curls, just used pieces of cotton sheets and wrapped hair around cloth then cloth back up over hair and tied at top of head. Voila! Curls
You have enlighten me to new things watching your videos. I had decided a week ago i was cutting all my hair off. Its been as long as yours for 7 years or more.. you made me decide to NOT CUT my hair. Now that i have some new ways to wear it and fell fresh. I was getting so hored with my ideas. Thank you.
I am definitely going to be trying this out with my hair. And give it a try because with having a 5 month old son and a 4 year old daughter, I don't have time to curl my hair like I used to do. Now, I can try this and sleep with the robe belt being in my hair and finally can wake up to take the robe belt out than be able to have beautiful curly hair. Overall, I love seeing an alternate way of getting curly hair. Thank you.
This works like magic!! I was skeptical bc heartless curls usually don’t work for my hair and I’m am so happy waking up this morning with beautiful curls 😊
I LOVE these curls. My granddaughter’s hair is straight and down to her waist. I did this to her and so far it looks good. We can’t wait for it to dry overnight and see the curls. Thanks! Great video!
I’m the girl who can’t French braid or even braid her own hair this took me HOURS!!! I ended up giving up and just spinning my hair around the robe instead. I have two Princess Leia buns sticking out of the side of my head. 10/10 for tutorial👍
I'm the same I had that problem with the robe too first my hair was getting knotted around it and then my hair fell out and I gave up and eventually went back to using fuzzy socks and then curling them up on top of my head and making 2 princess Leia buns. It works lol
Loved it! I added part of the rope I cut off to the middle of the original rope so it went down the back of my head (I sewed it, you can knot it together) so it’s three sections, ( both sides and back of head) so there are three twist points and the back is evenly curled as well! Works much better than zigzagging your part.
I have long straight hair that does not take to heat curls at all. I used this technique (used mousse too) for my daughter's wedding. I couldn't be more happy with the results. Thank you!!
We live off-grid and don't have a whole lot of outlets for plugging in curling irons and such, so this is a lifesaver! I was able to cut a sock lengthwise until about an inch from the toes to let one long strip, and did the twists in a minute or two! Will see how this looks tomorrow morning.
Oh wow, that's such a cool way and even the robe-look looks awesome on you! My hair is too short unfortunately, for now, by necessity, got too thin b/c med.reasons, but I'm getting my thickness back by derma-rolling combined with a natural follicle stimulation product (but derma-rolling your scalp by itself is known to already yield great results, see Gin Amber's channel for that (that's the name of the channel)). I already have babyhair all over so hopefully I can do these curls in not too long, looks incredible. Thank you so much for this clear explanation, Monique ps: I like these 'tighter' ones the best too!
I love these curls! I was looking for night time leave in heatless curls and came across your shirt curls FIRST! and I wanted more curls and this is exactly what I wanted so THANK YOU! love you channel I'm new just subscribed and now binge watching your videos with my mom while I do my mom's and I hair! Keep on being great! ❤❤
I’ve just tried this for the first time and it’s amazing! I freshly washed my hair and let it dry naturally then I followed your tutorial and left it in until morning…about 7 hours approx. I have hair that refuses to keep a curl no matter what! Even hairspray doesn’t do anything 😬 so I’m eager to see how long these curls last today x
I've been using your previous method for months, but I really like the curls you just showed so will give it a try. Thanks for showing the steps so clearly.
I am so excited to use these tonight! I have the cutest outfit for tomorrow and I’m trying to glow up for high school... I’m prolly going to be using this technique a lot hahaha
Vid i never knew i needed! I do this on my mate's hair but could never quite get the technique. It still comes out amazing but seeing you do it is so satisfying. I cant wait to do it on her again soon!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I almost bought a wand last week and am so happy I didn't because the heat is just so bad on the hair. Thank you for explaining so clearly. Can't wait to do this later on. Yipppeee 😃👏
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! I have been looking for a good heatless curl for the last few weeks and I loved how these curls turned out thank you so much again for the video!
So excited~! I just did it and will sleep on it tonight! I actually searched on RUclips because I remembered seeing your old video a while back, and when this one popped up first, I was thinking, could it be the same one I saw? Glad to try this way instead! ♡
Update: they look awesome!!! I put a little bit of rosehip oil in my hair as it was drying (before I did the curls) and when I took it out, the curls were so shiny and classy-looking!!!
You're the first person I've watched who suggested having all the hair added by the bottom of the ear and for that, I thank you!!! Very helpful as mine have been coming out wonky
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I did it last night and my hair looks fantastic, exactly how I wanted it. I wish I could send a picture in the comments of it.
Oh! This looks really good (even better than with some overnight curlers I bought, I guess they don´t work that well on longer hair). I will definitely try this. I'm so tired in the morning I don't do much with my hair (it looks so straight and boring). But if I can do this in the evening when I have more energy, that will be so much better. And save my hair the heat damage... Now on my way to steal my husband's robe belt, haha...
So I’ve done the first version a few times. I’ve had mixed results. As the day goes on my hair got a little fuzzy rather than curly but I didn’t care… tonight I’m trying the first method again BUT I did it with my head upside down. This makes the belt go from the back of my head up to my forehead. Then when I tie it off it’s up higher and out of my way when I sleep. I’m not sure how it will look in the morning… worst case I wear a messy bun 😜
Ive been watching several videos on the robe technique and this is the best one Ive seen so far. Im going to try this right now. Its in the middle of the day so im going to try and just spray my hair with water thoroughly then do this technique so i hope it still comes out right. Wish me luck lol

I have long straight hair that does not take to heat curls at all. I used this technique (used mousse too) for my daughter's wedding. I couldn't be more happy with the results. Thank you!!
Thanks for showing the initial moves in slo-mo! So helpful and the curls turned out gorgeous!
We live off-grid and don't have a whole lot of outlets for plugging in curling irons and such, so this is a lifesaver! I was able to cut a sock lengthwise until about an inch from the toes to let one long strip, and did the twists in a minute or two! Will see how this looks tomorrow morning.
SUCH GORGEOUS CURLS! I have really long thick hair but I'd love to try! Thank youuuuuu for sharing!
How did it come out? I have long thick hair too and hope it comes out right.
These are the most beautifulist curls i have ever seen done with the robe belt. Im definitely going to try it this way. Thank you ❤❤
Omg your hair looks so gorgeous! I definitely love this technique more than the original one! I can't wait to try this!! 🤩
Yay!! Hope it works great for you! Thanks for watching 😍
WOW 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This! 🙌 I’ve tried almost every other way and this is the only one that worked for nice round wavy curls.
This is the best video I've found that actually shows how to do the criss-cross wrap method
This is the best tutorial I've seen for this! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for watching!!!
Gorgeous! These are by far the most beautiful curls I have seen so far, made using the robe strap method!
I’m using my super long scarf with this technique and will update in the morning💤. Thank you so much!
Update: Omg it works! My schoolwork is pretty busy and now I can be busy and hot at the same time because this is such a great time saver method lol
Those curls are fabulous!! I couldn’t do it for the life of me! But I am so impressed! 🎉
My dad walked in on me clipping army robe tie on my head and he was like 👁👄👁
✨awkward check✨
I like these curls better! But both are beautiful 😍. I'm going to try this on my daughter. So thankful to find a good heatless curl method! Thank you!
Wow! I'm going to try this on my daughter's hair.
Yay!! How did they turn out??
Great! Tons of compliments!
Vid i never knew i needed! I do this on my mate's hair but could never quite get the technique. It still comes out amazing but seeing you do it is so satisfying. I cant wait to do it on her again soon!
Love you videos! Love this style wayyyyy more! Will try this tonight. I've been doing the other method for a few months ago so excited to try this
Yay! I'm so excited for you to try it. It's a total game changer!
Yay!! Thank you for watching ❤️🧡🧡
These look so beautiful. Please could you do a haircare tutorial? 😍😍
Here it is: ruclips.net/video/l4-IFfmn1b8/видео.html ☺️
I LOVE the curl produced by this wrap! 😍 Can’t wait to try it.
Totally doing this tonight! I love the other curls but these kook more consistent and I can't wait to try this. Thanks
Yay!! Hope you love it 🥰 thank you for watching!
You're the first person I've watched who suggested having all the hair added by the bottom of the ear and for that, I thank you!!! Very helpful as mine have been coming out wonky
OH AND ALSO parting your hair in the middle first- genius!!! Haven't seen that before either but it makes total sense! Can't wait to try ahhh
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I did it last night and my hair looks fantastic, exactly how I wanted it. I wish I could send a picture in the comments of it.
I definitely like these curls more than the other curls in the previous video.
So pretty! This style definitely.
Thank you so much ☺️
These are BY FAR the superior curls!!! 🙌
This style 100% beter 👍👍👍
Love from Greece 😍
Thank you so much ☺️
I am here to say I tried this last night and wowza, it works amazing. This is my new go to technique. Thanks!!
I was going to buy a $30 “heat less curls set”, now I’ll use what I have and spend $0 😄 thank you 🙏🏻
Nooo! Lol! Just use a robe tie or an old towel :) Saved ya some money!!
It looks so pretty on you. I like this curl better over the other one. Thanks for the tutorial
OMG!! These are absolutely gorgeous! This way is definitely my fav & I can’t wait to try it🥰! Thank you so much, have a wonderful & Blessed week🤗💜🙏🏻
Yay!! Hope you love your curls ☺️
Yo. I was very skeptical. I tried it and bam your advice gave me killer curls. I did about 50% wet and they are great
Omg you have the most beautiful hair ❤️
Thank you 🥺
How’d it work??? ☺️❤️
@@LaineyMarieBeauty well, not my best do 😜 but doesn’t hurt to try lol
Ive been watching several videos on the robe technique and this is the best one Ive seen so far. Im going to try this right now. Its in the middle of the day so im going to try and just spray my hair with water thoroughly then do this technique so i hope it still comes out right. Wish me luck lol
Thank you! Beautiful and easy. And thank you for not overlaying some goofy music 😊
Thank you for watching!
wow, these are def the best heatless curls i've ever seen. love your hair color too!
Those are so pretty! I am defiantly trying this! This video was so helpful with the step by steps! Thanks for this I NEEDED it a lot!❤️
I'm glad you did it., my defiant friend. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't make rope curls in your hair. 😂
Just tried these and they are amazinggg. Best heatless curls for me so far.
Your so talented and pretty!!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
The curls look beautiful. Definitely this last style is tighter, and I like it.
