Yea, Shrinkage is real😂...especially the African hair (4C). Maybe next time you can trying separating them using any preferred hair oil. It makes thd hair more defined and shiny☺

@@Mini-wd7qz I don't know if its a widely used term but I was trying to refer to people whose hair is naturally straight as opposed to the natural hair community, people like me who maintain their hair in a chemically unaltered kinky or curly state. If you have a problem with the term and an alternate term to refer to people with naturally straight hair, feel free to offer it. It you were simply in the mood for violence and would like to come for me, cancel me etc, also feel free to do so. I'd also like to point out that I don't think that the words natural hair community wouldn't be apt to people with naturally straight hair simply because the words natural hair community in modern times conjurs the image of one that has decided to not straighten their hair or loosen their curls/kinks using relaxers.

It's nice when experiments like this is done. Its helps you to understand other people and cultures. As black people with textured hair. We also do this but just for a different structure of curls. Your baby looked like a naturally curly girl. You did well. Love it.

We’ve done this to our My Little Pony’s tails and manes! We use “doll hair conditioner” (water + liquid fabric softener in a spray bottle) to get the frizz out, rinse the hair, then use straws & clothespins to curl the hair again. Never thought to do it in my girls’ hair, though! Great idea!

Looks like she had them at a young age herself so she bounced back pretty easy. That’s what I did.
Running around chasing and caring for five children on top of having to share whatever younare eating with them too is probably her workout and diet routine.....

I did this to my hair a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. My hair is to my waist so it took FOREVER!!! But, glad it didn't take you guys so long. I also used Bobby pins. Maybe it rubber band prob is better.
So adorable! She really looked sassy with her super curls! Your idea of the art project to re-use/recycle the straws was fantastic! The girls should sign their beautiful piece of art, and, of course, it needs to be dated as well! I've gotten some wonderful art thru the years from nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends kids. Many of them I forgot to date, and now a lot of them have kids of their own, and I kick myself for not dating some to share with their kids what Mom or Dad created when they were the age of their kids now!! It's so easy to forget how fast time can fly!!!
Keep those projects going! These shared times with your children will go a long way when it comes time for your children to share with you some of the important things that may be happening in their lives as they grow older, and life becomes more complicated!!

If you ever want extreme curl that lasts forever - even if a person has fine, thin, hair - you just do several, thin braids then roll up each braid on the pink, foam rollers. After the hair dries, and you take the curlers and braids out, you'll get a curl that lasts pretty much until you wash your hair again. My daughter used to be in pageants, and this was the tried and true method we moms used all the time.

It’s so weird seeing people embrace their hair or like having curly hair because in my family everyone wears straight wigs or straighten their hair because that was what my family thought the word beautiful meant, I went natural 2 years ago and I’m still working on loving my hair, I even got some of my family to go natural! Sometimes I’ll tell my parents that I don’t want to be natural anymore because my hair “won’t cooperate” but they would always talk me into staying natural because they don’t want me to damage my hair again, I’m very thankful for that!😂

Thank you Tara!!💛 The curls stayed in for four days, they did get frizzy and a little longer but still held its curl. She had so much fun with it but really wanted her straight hair back!😄💛

Use leave in conditioner when all straws out just a small amount when splitting curls, this helps stop frizz. If want to keep curls put more conditioner on before bed & sleep in cloth hat/scarf, old tea shirt use good. Over time curls will drop, length better. To keep curls 3/4 days even week, can refresh every morning with a small amount of leave in conditioner. Will eventually get the look you want. When time to wash put ordinary conditioner on to form a mask by time got body showered can wash off with ordinary shampoo put leave in conditioner on & see if like the look. Don't comb or brush, use finger tips with leave in conditioner on to comb through gently. For some curls might disappear but experiment, it's just getting how curly you like it. Xx

I love this. The only thing I would have done different is to fold the straw both ways and secured with 1 rubber band instead of fold rubber band fold rubber band. Beautiful family.

Great tutorial and filming/editing as well. The coily curls came out beautifully. However, as a curly haired girl who is still trying to love her curls it was a bit disheartening having them compared to a poodle. They're just curls, not a wild funky 'do'. But I can understand the reaction having not seen her hair styled like that before. Great video nonetheless!
