It's crazy I'm the same age Karl was here and yet 23 years later the comedy is still so familiar and relevant (aside from the outdated charts). Granted that may be due to listening to the gang since 2014 when I was 17!
I wish I had known about it back then. I was a big fan of The Office but I had no idea this show existed. It would have given more more to look forward to during the week, that's for sure.
3:59 - "If you were 8 foot 3 it'd be slightly disabilitating, you would you know but..." "Disabilitating?" "Bu.....What?" "Disabilitating? Yeah, you're a medical man aren't you?" 4:27 - "You could drive it from the back." "Here it comes, watch it."
Gareth says it in the office at one point. My theory is that ricky wrote it in with Steve thinking it was funny because it made Gareth seem like a clueless tit but ricky believing that it was the right word
utter rubbish steve cant take any jokes against him, he takes so much chin and basically laughs it off or jokes about it too. You clearly dont understand his humour
I love when Ricky is actually laughing at what Karl says about Steve's looks but pretends it's Steve's response he's laughing at, so he can get away with bursting out laughing!! 😂🤭
Listening to this now - when Karl says he's 29.....then just the other day he was on a BBC crime drama looking about 63. Just kind of makes me sad. We are all here for such a short time. Mad innit....
Was wondering if anyone else noticed, this episode specifically Ricky is almost distorting and Karl is so low in the mix ya can barely hear his nonsense 😂
Talking of cartoons, I just realized that Steve looks like Flik from A Bug's Life. They could have done what they did for Gollum in Lord of the Rings, just put a stop-motion suit on him and have him act out the part of Flik and then render his face. Or he could've been a stick insect or a praying mantis or something. Also, when I was a kid I quite fancied the lionesses from The Lion King. I guess the fact that they weren't noticeably furry and fuzzy was what kept that from feeling too weird.
"All the songs there are, Karl, Steve likes some of them, and he doesn't like others. But for this feature, the only ones that will be in this feature are the ones he likes."
If only someone had realised that the error with when the sun will 'die' was actually 50 times more out than that presenter's mistake with the size of the moon was out.
Yeah 1 million vs 5 billion is a far more egregious mistake in scale than 4 vs 400 but it's almost like people don't notice or care as much about the difference between a million and a billion.

I prefer series 1. Towards the end of series 2 Ricky started crafting the character of "Karl Pilkington" in a more deliberate way and it took out some of the spontaneity (only a little bit) and Karl started acting up a bit.
I'm as old now as Karl was in series 1. Weird as I've been listening to these for about 10 years. Soon I'll be pottering about
Doing DIY.
Same, I can't wait for my big break on a tin pot radio station
Any issues with your boiler yet?

Ah yes, nothing more relaxing than the sweet, soulful sound of Ricky Gervais saying "WELL, IT MIGHT'VE BURNT DOWN!"

That ''Good Night'' just seals the deal, one of Merchants best.
hahaha nailed it
Haha been listening to these for ages. Why does that still make me laugh?! Lol
Me too, 3 years later. @@camille79
I laughed so hard. Love young Smerch
Could you explain this joke to me? What's the stereotype about lesbians and dogs, and what does "they're right dogs" mean?
“Just don’t let him carry the baguettes” Karl with a proper joke there! He’s got some sharp wit every now and then.
Too much laying low
'at he chewed
He knew it was funny. He said it to be funny. And it was funny! Well done.
He was always sharp witted and naturally intelligent, he just didn’t have well developed knowledge
I think that the baguette story was the first unofficial Educating Ricky!
totally
Definitely was because it started with the classic "Ages ago.."
stevo34 17th century?
@@josephcooper5225 Steve: "1970s?"
This is the first episode with Karl really going. First educating Ricky with the baguette and first story that started with "ages ago".
1800's?
24:21 😂😂😂
I love it when he struggles:
“Wheeere wot”
“Bid lin”😂
Ricky, "Steve's got a huge column"
Steve, "Brilliant Ricky, Award winning comedy"
Made me laugh :'D
I did a spit take 😂
Same here . Also cause the sound was fading, lovely sarcasm from Steve.

I never noticed before, but Karl was the one who started with the chicken noises!
HAAAA oh my goodness what an observation
oh karl, hes adorable

"Don't let him carry the baguette!" Absolute genius from Karl there. Quick wit from the K-man!
Karl's first reaction to a fire alarm: finish the show early and go home lmao, any way out of work
Steve ripping Gervais for being scared of fire.
There's someone official coming in now....
Love these. Cheers man Man Moth
remember rickys story of when he said to a firefighter, "there's enough of ya", he learned his lesson not to disrespect fire related incidents.
"just don't let him carry the baguettes" know it's coming every time and always crack up
"Only people with money had drinking or summet"
Oh Karl😂
As someone who has been listening to podcasts etc from comedians for years now, nothing comes close to this. I keep coming back about once a year.
