Hey Sony, sorry to see you got a QC nightmare. IDK why XTB can’t be consistent on every release. I picked up Virtus too and i gotta say i got the exact opposite of you. Mine is excellent. No paint issues, no missing ratchets, weapons fit the hands(will tab in and can leave the fingers open). I got lucky, but it shouldn’t be a game of chance when these figures are so expensive. I hope you get yours fixed. XTB has great customer service so I’m sure you’ll get the replacements needed. Thanks for the great video, and your honesty and integrity are always appreciated!
Thanks, I'm glad to hear you got a good copy, but i agree so strongly with what you said about it being a game of chance. I'm not willing to gamble at $200 a piece anymore
When I watched other reviews, I thought it was great, but when I got it in hand, I discovered that the chest does not lock in. I just assumed it would, because that seems pretty obvious to do. It would have been so easy to extend the side panels and incorporate a locking mechanism for the chest, so why on earth did they not? I had to use glue, tape, and a few plastic pieces to mitigate those issues, but I shouldn't have to do so. Considering how long I waited for the figure. this was passable, which makes it really damn disappointing. That being said, I'm going to be a dumbass and get Magnus.
I'm going Fans Toys for Magnus, and this Springer is probably my last XTB figure. If they couldn't fix their usual QC and design issues on a figure that took them this many years to put out, I have no faith that they will ever get their act together.

I'm surprised though, I thought the whole reason for this item taking so long to be released was so that x-transbots could have the required time to release the perfect product finally! This is very disappointing! I'm thinking of cancelling my pre-order now and wait for x-transbots to release a second edition with all the improvements like they did with their Kup. I agree with someone else's comment...they need to fire their QC guy!

Such a shame, just like their Kup...I was supposed to circle back and purchase the reissue version but as a collector I've invested my money elsewhere. @@TMReviews No....yours is around the 5th review with the same issues, it's clear there are major QC issues. Furthermore, my biggest scare right now is that foot joint! It reminds me of my Fans Hobby Athena...I broke it easily after displaying the figure for over a year while transforming it back to it's alt mode for storing away in it's box. Imagine... different weight class, cheaper quality with product choices and engineering from a lesser 3rd party company. That joint breaking on virtus is a major issue waiting to happen. That engineer choice to hold up the heft described just set x-transbots way back. I feel it was a rushed decision to meet deadline yet, how much time did they not have to get every aspect of this figure right? I just cancelled my pre-order, I can't afford these mistakes. I'm happy to spend and sacrifice on well produced products....look forward to that new metroplex$$$!
At first I didn't like this one, now I really like it a lot! NONE of the prior MP style Springers are perfect. They all have their own sets of issues. MMC is my favorite, FT is respectable. This one speaks to me. Not sure what it is, but I like what I see. MMC has the best hardware and easiest to transform. Looks great to me but some might not like that it isn't toon accurate. Apache is just no fun to transform & limited articulation in comparison. Virtus is better to me but mostly cosmetic in all modes. Transformation isn't bad fro an XTB. Great accessories! Nice review! :)
Thats so disappointing. I think they nailed it with the new Eligos release. I know you did a review comparing it to the FTs and the more i mess with mine the more im convinced its better than FTs. Tired of trying to keep the FTs from falling over. Its not a stable figure at all. Eligos stand in every pose i put him in with 0 frustrations. I want to throw the FTs across the room sometimes 😂. But this yeah is a disappointing outcome of this review. I sure was thinking this was gonna be a home run thinking if this redone Eligos is this good surly the new Springer will be amazing And nope 👎. I don’t understand who is in charge of the QC on new figures but like Kupp which hurt sales for them i think this is another one of those. And easy pass for me. Im now worried about the Ultra Magnus i pre ordered. Ugh 😩. Great review as always
What a conundrum…I would say majority of collectors keep their transformers in bot mode. This version looks like a great representation of Springer, might even be the best visually. However with the issues I am seeing it makes me hesitant to pick it up. It’s either going to be an on sale purchase or wait for version 2.0. Thanks for the review.
Damn, this was highly anticipated and was delayed for improvements all three modes look beautiful best MP Springer looking. But once again XTB QCs…it’s supposed to have knee ratchets first time seeing that issue but the shoulders paint chipping is a known issue. Sucks you keep dealing with these XTB QCs.
Great review. Appreciate the thoroughness. You take great care explaining the quirks of the transformations which is invaluable with 3P figures as their instructions are typically poor.

I was hoping x-transbots would nail this figure cause they needed this moral victory after that whole locke fiasco,and like uve said b4 die-cast doesn't make a figure and this just proves it unfortunately I would love to know who's the brain trust at x-transbots that would but die-cast on top of die-cast and have in go in a die-cast cavity, or such thin plastic on top of the feet where u manipulate it for ankle movement and then the best is bending the plastic like I can't even say what were they thinking cause it's apparent they weren't thinking at all. I'll stick to Fanstoys I have Apache and have not 1 problem with him,but I do wish the best for x-transbots...thanx again 🙏👍
I had a couple of the same issues you did. Mainly the pin that fell out, same pin fell out on mine. The guns fit in the hand on mine but the I had to file down he peg on the sword. Both my knees are good, and I didn't have an issue with paint chipping (but I only transformed it once). I have to laugh at the QC sticker. Reminds me of Tommy Boy. "I can take a s*** in a box and slap a guarantee on it. Believe me, I've got spare time." Still I do think that my copy is good enough to replace my existing Springer. But I am disappointed with so many issues
Damn, I was really counting that there would not be any issues with Virtus's quality, since it is supposedly a "premium figure". That is why I ordered it - an X-Transbots figure for the first time in my life. However, if my copy will have similar quality problems as yours, TMReviews, it will also be the last time.
That's too bad. It would be one thing if XTB was doing what they have started doing lately - targeting characters that no one else is doing (or are likely to do). Yet they took a long time, came out with their figure last, and fell flat. Fans Toys Apache is very solid and MMC's Saltus is surprisingly great (sculpt, materials, paint all really good). That is stiff competition, and yet the QC here is sort of unforgivable. The missing ratchet in the leg isn't something you'd ever overlook. YMMV there, perhaps. Rubbing intrinsic to the transformation of a heavily painted figure is also a poor choice, and that's universal. I have both Apache and Saltus already, but this is disappointing for those who waited and made their choice ages ago.
It doesn't look much better than the Ocular Max...If only my Saltus had some smaller shoulders, it would look as good as this xtb. Saltus' face sculpt still trumps XTB and FT imo.
@@TMReviews mine holds just fine. maybe I’m just lucky enough to have that additional knee ratchet for extra balance though, although mine was completely missing to missile from the movie in the box so I didn’t come through fully unscathed in the XTB QC lottery. Nice review. Realised I’d missed part of the transformation sequence on the bot mode as a result. Just off to remedy it
Whoever the QC guy was needs shitcanned. How does someone put what you got in the box and be able to slap a QC sticker on it and says it’s fine. I’d be pissed if I ended up with your copy. I hope you reach out and try to get some issues resolved.
Good to see XTB's high QC standards at work. I am really glad I decided to cancel my pre-order. I just didn't trust them with the level of skill needed to pull off a triple changer. Finally got my copy today and I would have absolutely scratched the shit out of those diecast shoulders without your video. I wedged a paper towel in between before I pulled them out and still managed a itsy bitsy tiny scuff. The transformation from car to helicopter isn’t bad. It’s actually somewhat fun. But helicopter to robot is scary. Way too many sliders that feel like they’re going to fail.
Great video TM, mines in transit, but not going to lie bit worried now, I sold my MMC Springer to get this wondering now if I should of! I hope they correct the issues for u bud.
Thank you for the review. I had my preorder set and was ready to gave it shipped but after seeing some reviews I decided to cancel and go with FT Apache since it’s on sale. I can't believe it. X-Transbots has somehow made a great looking Springer...with transformation sequences that are even *MORE* aggravating than the Hasbro Siege one, especially the helicopter mode!! (Like, I didn't think anything could legit be more annoying than that thing, although the MP44/49 mold does come hellishly close) Then there's all them QC issues and wonky hardware for articulation...this thing was delayed for how many years now, yet they still couldn't get it right?? Inexcusable...and unacceptable. Guess I'll stick to tryin' to hunt down that Open & Play Springer.
I'm sorry but that thing has been totally overengineered; it has a lot of QC issues for the price and some dimensions are just too exagerated... I still think that Robot Hero RH-02 Airwolf is the best option to go for an MP sized Springer!
Okay, mine just came in the mail. I could excuse the chipping paint on the diecast shoulders that should've been plastic, if the torso was simply designed with some sort of locking mechanism to make it actually attach when it swings down in robot mode. The fact that they spent multiple years on this figure, and missed that is insane. All they needed was for one regular collector to handle a prototype, and they would've said: "this needs to connect right here, see how it's loose and swinging about?" I am astounded by this. It looks so good, but when something has major QC issues like this, it's just not a real masterpiece (by the definition of the word) in my book. If they let stuff like this slide on a figure they took this long on, I have no faith in this company. Last XTB figure I ever buy.
TMR..in your expert opinion do you think because of the numerous QC issues, lack of clear coat to protect the paint and joint/design choices that this Springer will be recalled or reissued? It's such a great looking figure, didn't expect so many problems...that foot joint man! It feels rushed but it's funny cuz they had more than enough time. God knows what went on behind fabrication...a disgruntled employee (the QC guy)?😂😂😂
How in the world do they ship these Virtus figures with the knee joints like that??? The knees are worse than loose, they are worthless! XTB releases some beautiful LOOKING figures, but they always seem to drop the ball along the way in a head scratching manor. Also the chest seems janky. I really was excited….now I’m not sure. Excellent review. Unfortunately, this is typical X-Transbots: great concept, poor execution (in terms of engineering and build quality). I did like the design, but this won't replace my Apache or my MMC Springer due to the qc. Hopefully you can get a replacement copy. You should get the Robot Hero Airwolf figure (3P Springer). It's an inexpensive MP Springer that will surprise you due to how good it is for the price point.
Disappointing that XTB spent that much time in this figure and it ended up with so many problems and questionable design choices. I thought they had taken a decent step forward with Janssen, despite its nitpicks. I got Janssen and Tesla 2.0 at the same time and prefer Janssen by quite a bit. It would be nothing but good for the hobby to have XTB firing on all cylinders and helping to keep FT and maybe even Takara honest as to quality, engineering and price. But that won’t happen with releases like this. I had a little interest in this but I have Saltus (amazing) and Apache (a little dated but pretty good), so I’m more than covered as to this character. I was really hoping they would knock this one out of the park even though I was probably never going to buy it anyway. If for no other reason than I want their Ultra Magnus and Galvatron to turn out great. But this Springer is not a positive sign of things to come.
All the years it took to get this to retail and it’s a mess overall. Was really hoping this was a homerun. Was sooo looking forward to this release and now I’m leaning towards not getting it. Why even put a QC sticker on it? These issues are not isolated so far. Seems like almost everyone is having Many off then. Maybe Klatuu was when they peaked? Such a shame.
What a shame, was really starting to think xtb were stepping up to the plate and bringing it to FT, their perceptor was great imo, eligos looks great and was looking forward to this being great but this could really set them back. Hopefully not as we need competition. Great review tho
Let’s start with the positive…….there’s definitely a Bobby inspiration and structure vibe;and I like it. Very good review. Sad story for a beautiful figure, I was hoping for a homerun cause that’s what it will take for me to replace Apache,
It looks good in every mode but it also seems flimsy and a bit hollow again in every mode (specially from the "waist" down). There are some QC issues, some bad tolerances and bad planned engineering. The chest, waist and shoulders in bot mode aren't that well proportionate and the alt modes (both the car and the copter) have some unfinished looking details. I'm glad I canceled my Virtus preorder and went with the MMC Springer version. Even though we know that this wasn't the case (they had 4 years to work on this design) XTB TF action figures always look like they aren't finished and were a bit rushed to the market. This is unfortunate because until I had one of their products in hand I actually liked XTB/KFC. I'm never going to buy a XTB TF action figure through preorder ever again, in fact I canceled all of my preorders for their as soon as I watched this review. I'm not going to say I will never buy one of their TF action figures ever again but I'm sure not buying one before I watch a review from a reviewer I trust. I rather pay a bit extra after it's released then own a trashy TF action figure that I regret paying for. It's official, as I said time and again this Virtus was the last chance at blindingly trusting XTB by preordering their TF action figures, I'm preordering them no more and if they keep at it like this I will give up on them altogether. That loose knee is basically my worst nightmare when buying these things. Hopefully that's not a defect on all of them. But really, the rest of those QC issues are just unacceptable.
XTB can only keep doing this for so much longer, it's just not acceptable. They do really good designs and really strive to capture the character design but just constantly fail with both their paint (chipping rather than colour choice) and general QC. Watching this review has got me thinking about pulling my other preorders. Thanks for posting and I hope you get some fixes or a replacement.
I feel like I am very lucky that most of the time I don't like how XTB figures look so it is easy for me to pass on them. The only thing about Virtus that really appealed to me was the spinning helicopter blade effect, but the figure is far too expensive to buy for just that part, and then it turns out the thing looks like it might be just waiting to break anyway. I like the idea of the IDW head, but the nose is terrible. Just a thought, could you use the rear landing gear in his feet as heels?

Looks good but doesn’t function very well, used to have both MMC Saltus and FT Apache, had to sell Saltus unfortunately as for me he is the best all round, his transformation is good relatively simple, bot mode looks good as does the helicopter, Saltus car mode is questionable, hope to get another copy at some point, hope you do a VS between XTB FT and MMC
The irony of the [worn-out ] QC sticker being on the leg that is missing a ratchet... Also, plastic feet in a predominantly diecast figure??? Urgh, XTB dont make buying decisions easy...
when i open xtransbots figures now, i notice how loose they feel and very unsolid. with a Fans Toys figure or an MMC figure, they feel real sturdy and solid out of the box. too many issues from this company. i had Janssens for a week before i sold it off and got Tesla 2 and it was a world of difference in quality
Thanks for watching. By design, I believe they are actually too big because they collide and scrape the paint off. By looks, they are a bit small. The replacement ones are even smaller
it's really frustrating that a figure that took so long to release finally has so many annoying details that it's not completely worth its price. It seems that the MMC version would be the best for now
This should've been a home-run. It's sad that they couldn't deliver on this figure that everyone waited years for. That QC sticker is like bad comedy. I would return that thing because of the missing ratchet. I hope I don't regret this purchase. Thanks for the review!
As a reviewer you were rather kind. This looks like a disaster to me. Clearance issues including having to stretch plastic and scrape paint not worked out in design phase, pin fell out, paint scraping, can't hold weapons, barely posable, barely stands, fragile tabs, fragile foot connections, friction joints which will soon become floppy and not hold poses, knee ratchet COMPLETELY MISSING and a QC sticker slapped on? It's even more of a shame because there is so much paint and die cast and I think all 3 modes look great. What a bummer.
I ended up taking it apart and found a small piece of metal inside the seating area of the ratchet gear, after clearing that out it worked ok. However, I sold the figure
Idk what's been up with RUclips lately but the video quality for everything I watch has been absolutely terrible. It's like watching videos from early 2010's

Damn, I think XTB is loosing me. It’s just the principle of the thing. After improving Eligos and Locke so significantly I just couldn’t imagine this long awaited figure having QC issues. Design issues, maybe, bending a little plastic, typical…but missing a ratchet, weapons not fitting in hands and a QC lip service sticker. I’m feeling like they just don’t give a shit. Not the way you want to go with all these pre orders out there. Magnus just went from a must buy to “let’s see the review”.
Just got mine & interestingly (EDIT: I should've said 'likewise for me'), bot mode for me is hands down the weakest of the trio. Proportions are straight-up WONKY for bot mode and his iconic shoulders are minimized WAAAYYYY too much. And that grill...c'mon, dude...that crap SUCKS. Totally on point for vehicles, but that bot mode...nah
Man, u guys keep getting bad XTB copies of figures...I'm beginning to think its because yall get the early copies or maybe test versions...maybe I have good luck because I never get those issues...I don't have this yet so I'll keep my fingers crossed but either way I already have Apache so it'll be ok...sorry for your luck but good review nevertheless!!!

I’ve only been watching you for about 7-8 months and boy do you seem to get a lot of lemons. Missing parts or ratchets or broken figures out of the box, etc…
Watched some other reviews, and this figure is trash across the board. XTB continues to rob the fandom and gets by because they're cheaper to buy then fanstoys, which isn't really true. I'd rather pay the extra $40 for a great figure. Can't imagine XTB being around much longer (FT and MMC Springer is less than this one)
Just wanted to say awesome review...I really thought about getting this instead of the Fans Toys version because the legs look alot cleaner in this one but I love the bulk of thw FT version versus the Slim look of the XTB. Honest suggestion...which one?
In every review I've seen, it's OC 01. I think they have one person doing QC. They need more people.

Great review. Appreciate the thoroughness. You take great care explaining the quirks of the transformations which is invaluable with 3P figures as their instructions are typically poor.

I was hoping x-transbots would nail this figure cause they needed this moral victory after that whole locke fiasco,and like uve said b4 die-cast doesn't make a figure and this just proves it unfortunately I would love to know who's the brain trust at x-transbots that would but die-cast on top of die-cast and have in go in a die-cast cavity, or such thin plastic on top of the feet where u manipulate it for ankle movement and then the best is bending the plastic like I can't even say what were they thinking cause it's apparent they weren't thinking at all. I'll stick to Fanstoys I have Apache and have not 1 problem with him,but I do wish the best for x-transbots...thanx again 🙏👍

I had a couple of the same issues you did. Mainly the pin that fell out, same pin fell out on mine. The guns fit in the hand on mine but the I had to file down he peg on the sword. Both my knees are good, and I didn't have an issue with paint chipping (but I only transformed it once). I have to laugh at the QC sticker. Reminds me of Tommy Boy. "I can take a s*** in a box and slap a guarantee on it. Believe me, I've got spare time." Still I do think that my copy is good enough to replace my existing Springer. But I am disappointed with so many issues

Damn, I was really counting that there would not be any issues with Virtus's quality, since it is supposedly a "premium figure". That is why I ordered it - an X-Transbots figure for the first time in my life. However, if my copy will have similar quality problems as yours, TMReviews, it will also be the last time.
You may get lucky, I just seem to get bad luck with them

The tail rotor propeller can actually turn which is cool since at a glance they look static.

That's too bad. It would be one thing if XTB was doing what they have started doing lately - targeting characters that no one else is doing (or are likely to do). Yet they took a long time, came out with their figure last, and fell flat. Fans Toys Apache is very solid and MMC's Saltus is surprisingly great (sculpt, materials, paint all really good). That is stiff competition, and yet the QC here is sort of unforgivable. The missing ratchet in the leg isn't something you'd ever overlook. YMMV there, perhaps. Rubbing intrinsic to the transformation of a heavily painted figure is also a poor choice, and that's universal. I have both Apache and Saltus already, but this is disappointing for those who waited and made their choice ages ago.
It doesn't look much better than the Ocular Max...If only my Saltus had some smaller shoulders, it would look as good as this xtb. Saltus' face sculpt still trumps XTB and FT imo.
Yes I do love Saltus but this is the only figure that hits all 3 modes
I’m using the landing gears in the feet as heels. Holds position much better that way than trying to use the panels on the back of the leg

@@TMReviews mine holds just fine. maybe I’m just lucky enough to have that additional knee ratchet for extra balance though, although mine was completely missing to missile from the movie in the box so I didn’t come through fully unscathed in the XTB QC lottery.

Whoever the QC guy was needs shitcanned. How does someone put what you got in the box and be able to slap a QC sticker on it and says it’s fine. I’d be pissed if I ended up with your copy. I hope you reach out and try to get some issues resolved.
Good to see XTB's high QC standards at work. I am really glad I decided to cancel my pre-order. I just didn't trust them with the level of skill needed to pull off a triple changer. Finally got my copy today and I would have absolutely scratched the shit out of those diecast shoulders without your video. I wedged a paper towel in between before I pulled them out and still managed a itsy bitsy tiny scuff.
The transformation from car to helicopter isn’t bad. It’s actually somewhat fun. But helicopter to robot is scary. Way too many sliders that feel like they’re going to fail.
Yeah it's not smooth, feels like you are going to break it while going into robot mode, but it works so I guess it's fine
Great video TM, mines in transit, but not going to lie bit worried now, I sold my MMC Springer to get this wondering now if I should of! I hope they correct the issues for u bud.

I can't believe it. X-Transbots has somehow made a great looking Springer...with transformation sequences that are even *MORE* aggravating than the Hasbro Siege one, especially the helicopter mode!! (Like, I didn't think anything could legit be more annoying than that thing, although the MP44/49 mold does come hellishly close) Then there's all them QC issues and wonky hardware for articulation...this thing was delayed for how many years now, yet they still couldn't get it right?? Inexcusable...and unacceptable. Guess I'll stick to tryin' to hunt down that Open & Play Springer.
I'm sorry but that thing has been totally overengineered; it has a lot of QC issues for the price and some dimensions are just too exagerated... I still think that Robot Hero RH-02 Airwolf is the best option to go for an MP sized Springer!
Okay, mine just came in the mail. I could excuse the chipping paint on the diecast shoulders that should've been plastic, if the torso was simply designed with some sort of locking mechanism to make it actually attach when it swings down in robot mode. The fact that they spent multiple years on this figure, and missed that is insane. All they needed was for one regular collector to handle a prototype, and they would've said: "this needs to connect right here, see how it's loose and swinging about?" I am astounded by this. It looks so good, but when something has major QC issues like this, it's just not a real masterpiece (by the definition of the word) in my book. If they let stuff like this slide on a figure they took this long on, I have no faith in this company. Last XTB figure I ever buy.

TMR..in your expert opinion do you think because of the numerous QC issues, lack of clear coat to protect the paint and joint/design choices that this Springer will be recalled or reissued? It's such a great looking figure, didn't expect so many problems...that foot joint man! It feels rushed but it's funny cuz they had more than enough time. God knows what went on behind fabrication...a disgruntled employee (the QC guy)?😂😂😂
XTB does not recall figures as a normal practice. They may fix it for a version 2 but that is all I can see happening

How in the world do they ship these Virtus figures with the knee joints like that??? The knees are worse than loose, they are worthless! XTB releases some beautiful LOOKING figures, but they always seem to drop the ball along the way in a head scratching manor. Also the chest seems janky. I really was excited….now I’m not sure. Excellent review. Unfortunately, this is typical X-Transbots: great concept, poor execution (in terms of engineering and build quality). I did like the design, but this won't replace my Apache or my MMC Springer due to the qc. Hopefully you can get a replacement copy.
You should get the Robot Hero Airwolf figure (3P Springer). It's an inexpensive MP Springer that will surprise you due to how good it is for the price point.
Not a Third Party collector, but this looks really nice. My worry is the clearance issues with the figure. Overall, great review, TM!

Disappointing that XTB spent that much time in this figure and it ended up with so many problems and questionable design choices. I thought they had taken a decent step forward with Janssen, despite its nitpicks. I got Janssen and Tesla 2.0 at the same time and prefer Janssen by quite a bit. It would be nothing but good for the hobby to have XTB firing on all cylinders and helping to keep FT and maybe even Takara honest as to quality, engineering and price. But that won’t happen with releases like this.
I had a little interest in this but I have Saltus (amazing) and Apache (a little dated but pretty good), so I’m more than covered as to this character. I was really hoping they would knock this one out of the park even though I was probably never going to buy it anyway. If for no other reason than I want their Ultra Magnus and Galvatron to turn out great. But this Springer is not a positive sign of things to come.
All the years it took to get this to retail and it’s a mess overall. Was really hoping this was a homerun. Was sooo looking forward to this release and now I’m leaning towards not getting it. Why even put a QC sticker on it? These issues are not isolated so far. Seems like almost everyone is having Many off then. Maybe Klatuu was when they peaked? Such a shame.

What a shame, was really starting to think xtb were stepping up to the plate and bringing it to FT, their perceptor was great imo, eligos looks great and was looking forward to this being great but this could really set them back. Hopefully not as we need competition. Great review tho

It looks good in every mode but it also seems flimsy and a bit hollow again in every mode (specially from the "waist" down). There are some QC issues, some bad tolerances and bad planned engineering. The chest, waist and shoulders in bot mode aren't that well proportionate and the alt modes (both the car and the copter) have some unfinished looking details.
I'm glad I canceled my Virtus preorder and went with the MMC Springer version.
Even though we know that this wasn't the case (they had 4 years to work on this design) XTB TF action figures always look like they aren't finished and were a bit rushed to the market. This is unfortunate because until I had one of their products in hand I actually liked XTB/KFC. I'm never going to buy a XTB TF action figure through preorder ever again, in fact I canceled all of my preorders for their as soon as I watched this review.
I'm not going to say I will never buy one of their TF action figures ever again but I'm sure not buying one before I watch a review from a reviewer I trust. I rather pay a bit extra after it's released then own a trashy TF action figure that I regret paying for.
It's official, as I said time and again this Virtus was the last chance at blindingly trusting XTB by preordering their TF action figures, I'm preordering them no more and if they keep at it like this I will give up on them altogether.

That loose knee is basically my worst nightmare when buying these things. Hopefully that's not a defect on all of them. But really, the rest of those QC issues are just unacceptable.
XTB can only keep doing this for so much longer, it's just not acceptable. They do really good designs and really strive to capture the character design but just constantly fail with both their paint (chipping rather than colour choice) and general QC. Watching this review has got me thinking about pulling my other preorders. Thanks for posting and I hope you get some fixes or a replacement.

I feel like I am very lucky that most of the time I don't like how XTB figures look so it is easy for me to pass on them. The only thing about Virtus that really appealed to me was the spinning helicopter blade effect, but the figure is far too expensive to buy for just that part, and then it turns out the thing looks like it might be just waiting to break anyway. I like the idea of the IDW head, but the nose is terrible.
Just a thought, could you use the rear landing gear in his feet as heels?
Yes, I tried the landing gear on the feet, it doesn't really help, they are kind of flimsy anyways

Looks good but doesn’t function very well, used to have both MMC Saltus and FT Apache, had to sell Saltus unfortunately as for me he is the best all round, his transformation is good relatively simple, bot mode looks good as does the helicopter, Saltus car mode is questionable, hope to get another copy at some point, hope you do a VS between XTB FT and MMC

when i open xtransbots figures now, i notice how loose they feel and very unsolid. with a Fans Toys figure or an MMC figure, they feel real sturdy and solid out of the box. too many issues from this company. i had Janssens for a week before i sold it off and got Tesla 2 and it was a world of difference in quality

Thanks for watching. By design, I believe they are actually too big because they collide and scrape the paint off. By looks, they are a bit small. The replacement ones are even smaller

As a reviewer you were rather kind. This looks like a disaster to me. Clearance issues including having to stretch plastic and scrape paint not worked out in design phase, pin fell out, paint scraping, can't hold weapons, barely posable, barely stands, fragile tabs, fragile foot connections, friction joints which will soon become floppy and not hold poses, knee ratchet COMPLETELY MISSING and a QC sticker slapped on? It's even more of a shame because there is so much paint and die cast and I think all 3 modes look great. What a bummer.

I ended up taking it apart and found a small piece of metal inside the seating area of the ratchet gear, after clearing that out it worked ok. However, I sold the figure

Damn, I think XTB is loosing me. It’s just the principle of the thing. After improving Eligos and Locke so significantly I just couldn’t imagine this long awaited figure having QC issues. Design issues, maybe, bending a little plastic, typical…but missing a ratchet, weapons not fitting in hands and a QC lip service sticker. I’m feeling like they just don’t give a shit. Not the way you want to go with all these pre orders out there. Magnus just went from a must buy to “let’s see the review”.

Just got mine & interestingly (EDIT: I should've said 'likewise for me'), bot mode for me is hands down the weakest of the trio.
Proportions are straight-up WONKY for bot mode and his iconic shoulders are minimized WAAAYYYY too much.
And that grill...c'mon, dude...that crap SUCKS.
Totally on point for vehicles, but that bot mode...nah
Man, u guys keep getting bad XTB copies of figures...I'm beginning to think its because yall get the early copies or maybe test versions...maybe I have good luck because I never get those issues...I don't have this yet so I'll keep my fingers crossed but either way I already have Apache so it'll be ok...sorry for your luck but good review nevertheless!!!
This is not an early copy, it's a production release that I paid for same as everyone else

Watched some other reviews, and this figure is trash across the board. XTB continues to rob the fandom and gets by because they're cheaper to buy then fanstoys, which isn't really true. I'd rather pay the extra $40 for a great figure. Can't imagine XTB being around much longer (FT and MMC Springer is less than this one)

Just wanted to say awesome review...I really thought about getting this instead of the Fans Toys version because the legs look alot cleaner in this one but I love the bulk of thw FT version versus the Slim look of the XTB. Honest suggestion...which one?
