For my taste, the MS looks close to perfection in almost all areas! Very much looking forward to receiving mine (have just buckled and am now headfirst down the MS rabbit hole)
For my personal zeta toys brawl i leave the chest in the expanded mode to widen his shoulders and i took the track pieces and made an ammo belt that wraps over his chest. Really makes him look badass.
Imo the Ocular Max's alt mode was the most realistic; it looks similar to a real life leopard 1A5 (it even has the German Army's Iron Cross at the back). Meanwhile the magoc square reminds me of a Chinese tank from the late cold war era, though it isn't an exact match.
A friendly fyi: the "mufflers / exhaust pipes" are smoke grenade launchers/dischargers. They can also be used to fire chaff/flares. All for concealment and as countermeasures against guided anti-tank missiles. Tank engines are in the rear section, so the exhausts are there.
Zeta brawl is trash to me. Mmc is a true MP. Many people only won’t consider the MMC because the combined mode is shorter than a random scale toy world established.
@@andreyofdoom To be fair it isn't so much TW's scale in and of itself they care about (for the most part), they want giant imposing combiners and the TW scale is the largest one available. If a larger one came along those willing to replace would. Of course with combiners more people are priced into one particular size at some point.
I would love to see a Brawl anso be an arm, Scramble-City style too, rather than having it as a leg all the time for Bruticus, or any of the other combiners of that type.
@@TMReviews You mixed them up as tilt is forwards and backwards and pivot is side to side. Best definition would be a basketball player pivoting his foot as he's rotating side to side while his pivot foot remains stationary on the floor. As for this review, I went with Magic Square as I prefer the toon look but I also love paint so they win out. I've thought about MMC several times but never jumped in for whatever reason. I'm now all in on Magic Square.
@@saysoun752 I would use pivot as in rotation, something rarely seen in ankles other than ball joints (I would not recommend ball joint ankles though) or if necessary for transformation. I honestly have no idea if there is a true correct way to define tilt, pivot, rocker, etc, but since they aren't used uniformly across all reviewers I don't see finding out what is "correct" to have value.

Always love the vs. episodes and this was another great one. Glad to see another company in the Masterpiece scale it should make things more interesting.
It's a conundrum for me. I've had the Zeta set for years, but the MS one looks darn good. However we have no clue how well it's gonna work as an MP combiner because they've never done such a thing. Their legends Devastator works well if you get everything tabbed in correctly, but I've not touched their Bruticus nor their Menasor kits, and I know people had issues with the latter.

Id say if you want toon accurate go MS if you want a really good figure OM is the best 😊. My one knock I can think of it the no toe bend in MS id have to get a hold of it again to see what else. O and MS did just announce a toon accurate upgrade kit
It's a shame you did not include UNIQUE TOYS Archimonde. Great Review None the Less. I do like the Zeta, simply because it's got that BEEFY, MUSCULAR look to it, the way BRAWL should look. He's a TANK, Magic Square has the Cartoon 'Bot and Alt' mode nailed down pat. IMPRESSIVE. I do like the Ocular Max modes, a close second, but Magic Square really did do an outstanding job. Brawl without his Rear Tank Guns, just isn't a "Brawl" it's just a tank. I was sitting on the fence, BUT now that you have reviewed them, I will be getting Magic Squares Brawl. Thanks again.
I care little to nothing about cartoon accuracy. Actually, the opposite. (But if I did I'd be happy with MS) Hyper articulation isn't important to me. (But if I did I'd be happy with MS) But solid built and fun transformation is very important to me, so sticking with MMC without question or doubt.

I have Heavy Gunner coming to me soon and the price was just under a hundred before shipping. After shipping - less than one twenty-five. Just thought that part of the comparison could be looked at again. I also have this set in legend scale (IDW colors) and like them a lot, so I'm very excited to get them in MP scale.
Watching your Occular Max video back in the day and remember thinking what a great toon representation. Now I'm like "What you can make it look more toon?!"
Great comparison! FYI the tank cannon does move up and down on the Zeta. You have to pull it out further, which is frighteningly difficult the first time haha. I did order the MS on the strength of your review and will probably replace the Zeta with that set eventually, even though I LOVE the Zeta set. Zeta is not toon accurate at all but is just so burly and cool looking to me. Wonderful to have so many choices!

Where are you buying the Magic Square for $144? It doesn’t cost that much. It costs $112 through Show.Z. It was $118 postage paid to the USA. It’s no contest. The MS is the clear winner. It looks like it walled off the screen which is what I want. If I wanted a close approximation Id go with something else. I collect Transformers so I want the line that looks like the Transformers. All these others look like something else which is why I never could stomach most MP scale figs. Magic Square Legends scale were the first and only company to consistently nail the right look, so they get my not hard-earned money.
Nice comparison man ...Those 2 didnt aged well LOL..in robot mode..but tank wise looks realistic, but the simpleness of the toon look of MS is also appealing.
I think it blows the Ocular Max out of the water to be honest. And the Zeta was never really in the running as a solo piece. I'm glad this came out. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the Ocular Max last year, but the scale of the combined form being so small compared to every other MP combiner out there put me off of it. I don't really care about partsforming, especially not for a combiner.
Just the initial look I could see right away that Magic Square has the best look. I had heard MMC, and liked him, but MS is better IMO. In the combined mode, MMC just doesn’t look right, especially with the tiny foot. I know there’s an upgrade which does help, and MS is a parts former, but I believe that that is the way it should be. I do really like the all in one idea that MMC does, and they do a great job with it, but for me, I’d rather nail the accuracy look and go with the parts forming.
Was pretty sure we wouldn't have a better Brawl until Fanstoys decided to take on Combaticons in the year 2031. But MS killed it. Alt mode MMC aaallll day but we all came to see Bot mode. MS wins hands down. It really shows almost how badly MMC did on the bot. I get the basically triple changer for MMC thing. But it isn't close. Imo

Gotta say that Ocular Max is holding up really nicely.
The 'exhaust details" at 12:50, those are smoke grenade dischargers. They launch cannisters of smoke to obscure the battlefield.

I know zeta's robot modes are kinda weak but the combined mode is pretty much unbeatable especially if you have the metallic version.
The MS looks great, but I'll stick with the ocular max , I like those designs better.

I understand that with Members Choice it is literally whatever said random person on the internet thinks, but 0% for MMC is shocking.

What’s the difference between, ankle tilt and ankle pivot?
Everyone refers to it differently, tilt for me is side to side. Pivot is forward and backward
Some people also use ankle rocker. Unfortunately you simply have to figure out how each reviewer chooses to mix and match the terms.

I hope they make a toon color. If they do, I’ll be buying 2 sets. One for bot mode and one set for Bruticus to replace my Zeta Armageddon Bruticus.

I got it for $94 on magic squares website

I think fanstoys may decide to forfeit doing bruticus given that the Magic Square version is shaping up to be close to perfect
I like the magic square i just wish it was as big as the MMC
