    I love that the clever engineering means there is no small fake chest. I don’t like those. This is such a better way to reduce the chest/hood. I see they even have a spot in robot and in car mode for an Autobot repro label. Well done!

    16:35 I think they put the top piece of the leg on the wrong sides, that's why the screw is showing in the front. Need to unscrew and switch them around.

    This looks like it feels better than the bad cube and it has design elements that are better but unfortunately for the third time, this character isn't perfect. There are things that I'm going to nitpick about if I get him.

    • @saysoun752
      @saysoun752 7 дней назад +1

      Bending of plastic is my biggest concern as that leg part wasn't fun the first time I transformed him. The plastic is very thin and I can see it bending out of shape or breaking if I transform him too often. That backpack also took me a minute to figure out what I was doing wrong. Had to use the Chinese video to help out as this wasn't as easy as I thought he'd be. Overall, $80 is quite cheap for a MP figure and I've had a chance to mess with him for about two weeks now.

    • @ronrainey1639
      @ronrainey1639 7 дней назад

      It's a very solid figure actually. The transformation could be better to avoid moving plastic past plastic but it is head and shoulders above takara and badcube. Best Sideswipe by far. Bot mode really shines. And considering it's half the price of a lot of other MP scaled figures it really makes it worth a pick up.

    • @saysoun752
      @saysoun752 7 дней назад +1

      @@ronrainey1639 The only part I'm concerned about is the leg transformation, particularly when everything tucks into it. I can't unsee the thin plastic bending like that. The bending of plastic overall isn't great but, that leg piece is really bothersome to me. Definitely the best Sideswipe right now. I'm waiting on their take on Prowl as he's my favorite character. Unlike TT's take of Sideswipe, which I hated, TT take on Prowl is nice but needs to be updated. I have both the toon and toy look of MP Prowl.

    • @sigerlion8608
      @sigerlion8608 7 дней назад

      @@saysoun752 Yeah bending the plastic sucks but it's still better than the MP Sideswipe, that one uses clear plastic tabs from the front windshield and those broke off so easily.

    I found that lifting the ankle joint as far away as I could, it didn't bend the plastic too much - not enough for me to worry about it anymore. And I'd agree, 4/5 - not perfect, mostly due to the transformation quirks, but once it's set, I love it.

    Bot mode looks perfect. I can’t wait for mine to arrive. I’m planning to see if I can take the hips apart and switch the top portion of the thighs so the screws are in the back and the square design is in front. I wonder if they messed up in assembly in the factory?

    Dx9 for bot mode, badcube for alt mode. Psa, the mp sideswipe toyhax window stickers will fit Badcube sideswipe so you can cover the kibble hiding under the windscreen.

    I'm so excited for this guy. He should be waiting for me when I get home from work. I think it'll be fun to see how it looks in vehicle mode next to the MP Sunstreaker and the FT Spoiler (Breakdown) to see how three completely different transformations make the same car mode. I'm also really excited to see their upcoming Prowl. Hopefully these sell well enough that DX9 (or any company) gets back into making updated carbots. I am DYING for a better Wheeljack.

    @mcloutierg8201 7 дней назад +1

    Thanks for the review. The blue headlights and unpainted foot are enough for me to pass as I already have 2 versions of this character. FYI I have seen other reviews where you can get the shoulder to a full 90 by dropping the joint down which gives clearance to extend the arm fully.

  • @M_Alex
    @M_Alex 6 дней назад

    I like how he looks in bot mode, but there are some things that just bug me. The headsculpt is beautiful - and that's my biggest gripe with the MP. But those unpainted metal toes, the unfinished looking ab-crunch and limited posability just don't work for me. The way the hands look and those tabs on the headlights are also minor nitpicks that work against it.
    I do think that in a lot of respects he's an improvement over the MP, but some of the flaws of the MP I actually like, like the broad chest (reminds me of the toy). So subjectively not for me, objectively - I think he's awesome, especially if you're going for toon accuracy. Also happy to see DX9 back in the game. Their Powerglide and Omega Supreme still hold up, and are top-tier figures.

Mine arrived today and it looks great with my s1 bots, just waiting on their prowl and then waiting on someone to do wheeljack and my s1 set is complete and the only takaras i have is bumblebee who will likely be replaced and hound as i think its the best version available

    think Fanstoys didn't see this coming. They would have tried to block it with theirs as their usual practice... I would be more interested to see how FT and XTB do theirs. Otherwise I think my BC is close enough.

    Thank God we finally get something to replace those junky Lambo Bots. I hate the legs and looseness of the TT MP ones. You can hardly pose them without them falling over. Hell, my Red Alert came with a busted head joint that was so miss aligned that the rod his head sits on pieced through his head diagonally, so his head is always sidewise. I just have him pose as if he’s dead in the arms of my MP Inferno since that’s all he’s good for.

    The thing that made MP-12 not quite right had to be Lamborgini related. I feel like they wanted to Takara to preserve the design of the car over the robot mode. I'd say that DX9 is the better of the two.

    I don’t think the Takara car mode is even that great by modern standards. Certainly the big black thing on the roof isn’t remotely accurate to any Countach. Don’t get me wrong, DX9’s vehicle mode is worse when it comes to accuracy.

    • @texasbeast239
      @texasbeast239 7 дней назад +2

      The big black thing was just a black painted depression in the roof of the original 1974-77 Lambo Countach LP400 Periscopio variant, used to give a complex periscope rear view system's prisms an unobstructed line of sight to the rear over the roof. It was definitely a real feature of the LP400 prototype, but when the car went to production, Lambo deleted all the prisms for the Periscopio and just installed a conventional rear view mirror in its place. The rooftop depression remained, however.
      A 1974 LP400 Periscopio served as the platform of the 1975 Walter Wolf LP500 Speciale V1 car. The latter added the front and rear spoiler, fender flares, side skirts, phone rotary dial wheels, and a nicer 5.0 L motor.
      This V1 car was sold to a Japanese car collector, and it has remained in Japanese possession ever since. That has lead to the Walter Wolf Special V1 car serving as the basis for countless Countach toys, plastic models, and remote control models over the decades.
      Takara must have been especially fascinated with that particular car, because they based at least 9 G1 Transformer characters' (Sideswipe, Red Alert, Breakdown, Tigertrack, Clampdown, Deep Cover, Sunstreaker, Spin-Out, and Cordon) alt modes upon it.
      Some of them have the rooftop depression painted in black, while others just go with the prevailing body color like real world LP400s did.
      DX9 appears to have opted for a later 1978-81 LP400S or 1982-84 LP500S variant alt mode instead, which ditched the rooftop depression.

    • @GrimSRT8
      @GrimSRT8 6 дней назад +1

      @ I’m well aware of the periscopio, but I’ve never seen one with the black paint. Not to mention, Sideswipe is definitely not the much better looking (and valuable) periscopio. So I’m confused why it’s there. I guess they just were trying to do their favorite styling features of different Countachs I guess. The only Lamborghini I truly like is a Miura. The early Countachs look cool, but they all drive poorly. Not to mention the Lamborghini community tends to suck (gold chain guys). Some owners are cool (especially the classic owners), but most prefer to just pose with their car rather than drive it. Anyway, we’re way off topic now but thanks for the extra Countach info.

    • @texasbeast239
      @texasbeast239 6 дней назад

      @GrimSRT8 Takara likely chose the Countach because it was the "It" supercar of the early '80s. Like Farrah Fawcett was the "It" sex symbol. Yeah, as you said, neither was practical at all! But they sure looked good, while being impractical.
      Also, like I said, since Nihon/Japan was fortunate enough to receive one of the highest profile individual Countaches, the first Walter Wolf Speciale, it probably became a mark of national pop culture pride. It was a car idol. Takara seems to have fallen in love with it.
      Also, the first 9 TF Countaches were based on the single specimen car, the Periscopio with Walter Wolf Speciale V1 add-ons. It wasn't just the Periscopio, but the Frankencar custom.
      Oddly, Takara chose to paint that roof depression black, but not any of the other Wolf stuff (fender flares, side skirts, under the wing, etc.). Maybe it was a half-hearted effort to avoid a copyright claim?
      Cheers.

    • @GrimSRT8
      @GrimSRT8 6 дней назад

      @ I’d list the F40 and 959 as being more of the “it car” in the 1980s, and the Testarossa is about on-par with the Countach. For sure the most important supercars of the era were the NSX and 959. The 959 predicted the future and the NSX was a supercar you could live with. The NSX is the polar opposite of the Countach, one you want to drive and the other you want to be seen in.
