Interesting!! Not shocking though, it's northern Europe, it's cold and we've got lots of coastline- we'll eat fish in as many ways as possible lol. We (Brits) actually eat a lot of breaded fish at home - classic childhood dinner is fish fingers (breaded), potato smiley faces (basically chips cut into smiley faces instead) and baked beans or spaghetti hoops. As a heads up… in the uk/Europe at least, IKEA have joined many other retailers from Sweden in stopping purchasing from Mondelez (owners of Cadbury/daim) because they are still profiting significantly from their operations in Russia - so Daim chocolates and Daim cake will be something you won’t find soon…

@@mathieu51782 Ikea is a fun company to work for. Competitive pay, lots of opportunities for advancement and lots of company perks like 15% store discount and cheap food in the co-worker restaurant.
The only con I can think of is they only hire part time positions. Ikea offers part-time contracts usually between 24, 30, 40, 50 and 60 hours minimum per fortnight. You might be on one of these lower contracts but you'll often pick up more shifts depending which department you are in.
If you do decide to apply for a position, remember that attitude is the key. You may not have the right experience they are looking for, but if you have the right attitude and are a positive person, Ikea will hire and train you.

as a Swede, you wonder what a Stockholm salad is. can't even google it so it's probably an American name, but looks like green salad with raw spiced salmon and butler sauce = hovmästarsås. there are several kinds of so-called shrimp salads in Sweden. Skagen batter "Skagenröra" that you have on toast as an entree. then you have a thick, creamy prawn salad that is sold in sausage stands. then shrimp salad, which is green salad, tomato, cucumber, etc., and shrimp, but some additional dressing. much like pizza there are lots of different pizzas. this is just a clarification in case someone goes to Sweden and wants to try the food, it can be so wrong if you don't know what to order. but you should definitely try the toast skagen

US IKEA food worker here, there are a few things I noticed.
    1. It's still called the daim cake at my location
    2. They mentioned stuff that was discontinued like the lingonberry ribs. Again, at least at my location.
    3. Meatballs are cheaper at my location (though this makes sense to me, as this video was filmed in California)
    4. That US pizza was overcooked, you can tell by the burn marks on the bottom.

I worked at that Burbank IKEA many years ago. They were a great company to work for and really looked after the employees. At least that store did at the time, but I got the impression it was the company as a whole. One of the best things they did was, during the holidays, they gave employees a line of credit to buy basically anything you needed at the store, and then you could have it taken out of your paycheck in very manageable amounts over time. I also really love lingonberry, and you can still buy lingonberry jam in the Swedish shop in the front of the store.

My last bed suddenly broke so i had to go to Ikea last minute to buy a bed, it was kinda expensive but also not super bad i guess? The bed i got was really nice and the mattress is INCREDIBLY nice! Admittedly it is my first time sleeping on a new mattress in a very long time, but i think i have had it for around a year now and it's still great! Softened but great! Although yeah, i am a fan of their hotdogs!
Like Harry i don't live super close to one so Ikea is a trip with intention, but seeing those plushies, man, i really regret not getting the large whale shark and i want it so bad!

They have the coolest plushies. For some reason we acquired various Ikea rats over the years anytime we went for my dog (who we lost in Dec 2022). We still have all these damn little ikea rat plushies, varying in size, all over our house with missing legs, ears, and stuffing 😂. Those plushies were my dogs favourite!

I feel like whenever I go to IKEA I turn into a big kid. I remember going there with a friend and playing hide and seek. Then she picked up a toy alien and started going up to strangers & saying “bleep blop bloop blop?” Some people looked very uncomfortable, but a few of them responded in alien talk. I was in my mid 20s, & my friend was in her early 30s & divorced with 2 kids.

    "Djungelskog" - "djungle forest"
    "blåhaj" - "blue shark"
shopping at IKEA gets interesting when you're learning Swedish: some names are kinda profane, others are funny
But one always must eat there!
