US vs UK Papa Johns | Foreign Exchange | Food Wars
joe and harry carrying this entire channel on their backs
They try other hosts to their credit and the Indian host was fun but I usually skip when they do other countries and new hosts now. They're milking the hell out of this with Harry and Joe and I am all for it. Seeing these two banter and riff off each other is why we are here, at least why I am. These two shooting the shit during food tours is high quality stuff.
@@APeekBehindTheCurtain food tours is my fave series! 🙌
@@APeekBehindTheCurtain Food tours was genius idea, its so fun seeing the two just being goofy. I do admit i skip most other stuff what isn't these 2, some other hosts have been fun but i dunno, i think Harry and Joe just became staples now and it feels weird having anyone else.
that's a low bar to carry
Just an FYI Alfredo was created by Alfredo Di Lelio in Rome in 1892 based on an old Roman dish and bought to America in the 1920s.
lol I was like what is Harry talking about?
Brits never do their research
That's what I thought when he said that! Maybe he was referring to the cream based sauce which is an American addition, while the original was butter based.
yeah he got that wrong, I used to think this too until I saw that video from Alex French Guy Cooking
@@solowplaysmc9013 I've learned so much from Alex I didn't think I needed to know but I'm glad I do now lol.
its interesting how pale the uk pizza bases look
probably the preservatives in american cheese
@@char198 those bases look a lot paler than usual
That's how the world sees Brit of today
all the preservatives that u guys add to ur food
@@nic3525 preservatives don’t make pizza look that dark… also in a previous episode they showed that the US papa johns does not use any preservatives
Parmesan and Romano are different cheese, it'll be a blend they use . In the UK they have a "premium cheese blend" on some pizzas which is a blend of Provolone, Fontina and Asiago
parmigiano reggiano and pecorino romano are different cheeses, and you can be damn sure you won't find any of either on a "parmesan romano" pizza
Colour difference on those bases is striking
raw vs burnt 💀
Noticed that too. UK looked like it needed 10 more minutes
I know what I'm getting tonight, and it's not Papa Johns.
I know I'm getting pizza for lunch, and its not from Papa Johns!
I might get some PJs...
I did get Papa Johns, I also got a side of indigestion as a freebie!
ffs harry we know that lemonade is made with lemons, cloudy/traditional Lemonade is not uncommon in the UK.
The editing on the etymology lesson was top-notch! My favorite part of the video 😂
Thanks for watching!
Just seeing Harry and Joe show up/be heard in the background is hilarious to watch 😂😂
How did you guys not get the special garlic sauce in the uk.. all the papa johns near me sell it and i think its the same as the butter garlic sauce in America
Papa left the quality has gone out the window big time
The large in the US is 14", right?
That's π(7x7)=153.94 sq in... not 193.94; not the best place to make a typo 😅
🤓
Papa Johns was a favourite of mine with delivery normally between 20 minutes to 45 if busy but the one that does my area has gone down hill on delivery time and because they took 4 hours and 13 minutes to deliver my order and get the pizza wrong I have never used Papa Johns again
10:05 I dunno why Harry standing behind Joe is so funny 😂🍕
My favorite hosts
That US cheese and tomato looks burnt underneath 1:28
They had the garlic butter as default in the UK, everyone hated it and it was replaced with garlic and herb
You can still get it, it’s called special garlic sauce
Truth, never met anyone who liked it.
PJ's 'Special Garlic' is absolutely rancid, would not recommend. Garlic and herb a massive improvement. Would love if they did honey mustard.
We also get the peppers in the box, or at least the papa john's near me does include them.
@@Wallopy_Joe we used to have it but they discontinued it a few years ago 😢
Makanan yang sangat lezat..the best food like this
Our Papa John's has the garlic butter dip. It's given as the sauce with each pizza. Garlic & herb is an optional extra and not as good as Dominos.
And in which country?
@@JannesJustus well, he's trying UK Papa John's, so I'm going to say UK. 🙄
This yellow shite is revolting 😂
@@SpikePBB who is he ....they are two people in this video one in the usa and one in the uk ......
@@DeterminedFC well, the American dude complained about our garlic and herb dip stating that we need the garlic butter dip, which we also have as our main supplied dip. I lost brain cells having to explaining that. 🙄
Harry seems like a nice guy but every episode he comes out with blatantly wrong statements about what Brits do/don’t do. I swear the guy judges the entire UK on the one street he lives in. My local Papa John’s serves the pizzas with those peppers. Every time. EVERY SINGLE TIME.. I’m in the UK (Cardiff)
He does seem to be anti-Brit in these videos. He pre-judges our food as bad before trying it, pulling a face before taking a bite. Whereas Harry is just easy going and open to everything. It's the only thing that bugs me about their videos because otherwise they do seem great guys.
Yeah guys, that’s part of the gig lol, he’s playing hard to get so when he likes something it seems even better, also he almost playing an American like character with his attitude. Don’t take it personal because it’s really tongue and cheek and intentional to get a reaction
I assume his not meant to be taken seriously, he had plenty of good things to say about our food on the UK tour thing they’ve done
Just had a papa johns and I see this has been uploaded 😳
I love how they said the same thing when looking at papadias
Texas has the Brisket pizza and Texas Twinkie option available during May thru August since 2018
"A little pink's okay right?" lol
Also I find the papa bowls extremely helpful. I can order one pizza with toppings both me and my child like and then a papa bowl with the toppings only I will eat and then we are both happy.
In the UK we used to have the pepper but then they stopped
7:31 haha Mr. Avella... pls so cute
Justice for the Papa Bowls. They are actually a great option for Keto and gluten free people. They taste amazing when actually eaten hot, not all cold and stuck together like they had in this episode.
Yeah the point of these at Papa John's and Papa Murphy's is for the gluten free among the pop who don't really enjoy the gluten free crust.
I'm not Keto or Gluten Free, but at my local pizza place, they offer "crustless" pizzas, essentially pizza bowls, that I get from time to time. Sometimes, I want to curb the calories. Sometimes, I've already had too much bread that day.
I'm actually pretty excited to find out Papa Johns has their own crustless version.
What is "emmiry" cheese?
The chilli pizza they used to do in the UK was 🔥 I was gutted when they removed it from the menu, it was a great flavour balance. Heat from chilli's, creamy from cheese, crunch from thin pizza base, sweetness from the onions yummmmm. Also banana peppers are the ish ❤ only place I ever saw them was in Morrisons.
For food tour you guy should do Texas barbecue
Whyoh why do the uk ones look not cooked mine in uk do not look like that!!!! And the us ones are all burnt.. when I’m stateside mine don’t look like that either!
We also have the more buttery garlic sauce in the UK, did that recently change?
Yep it was horrible
No it hasn’t, it’s called special garlic sauce
I actually really like the Papadias. When you can design your own, they're REALLY good.
But can't you just order whatever pizza you want and fold it over? It's the exact same thing.
Eat a real calzone and you'll see what everyone is talking about. Or don't, so you'll never know what you've been missing and can go on eating Papadias without getting tears in your marinara.
UK papa johns used to come with the pepper, I miss it :(
Do they throw away the food afterwards?
I always enjoy watching these videos. I do like Papa John's but I prefer Pizza Hut.
I ❤ these guys! 🫶! These guys are brothers for life!
Papa John's is pretty good. I definitely prefer to Domino's. I love food Wars🎉
Awesome job joe and harry.
How did you guys get both the UK and US versions in one place ?
Usually when I watch RUclips to see foods I’ll never eat they’re exotic or in far flung places. Today they’re just terrible pizzas 😂
"not looking the likes of this sauce" lmaooo
Ballygowan water is from the Republic of Ireland not Scotland
It's also the best bottled water
Parmesan and Romano cheese exist but separated.👍..and i go with Joe this time🤣
Parmesan is a young, meh cheese compared to Parmesan-Reggiano, matured for 3 years and only originating from a few specific regions of Italy. Romano cheese is a form of Pecorino designed for the US market, ‘nuffzed.
@@clogs4956 Yes, grazie mille😄
(UK) I haven't ordered a papa johns for the best part of a decade, but when I last did they did have the pepper. I can't say understood what it was, or the point of it and thought it was pretty sad looking. Their garlic dip on the other hand was horrendous.
when papa johns was first around in the uk they did them nowadays only certain branches do
Sad pepper.
propblem with pap johns in the uk is the big discrepancy between branches/franchises ..
I still find it odd how they got rid of the ‘nice juicy pepper’ in the uk ☹️
So they actually travelled back and forth to record the episode in two seatings?
That Papa John's location seems especially egregious, those Papadia's looks so burnt.
I would never get meatball as a topping at a large chain pizza place. They are never going to be good compared to a good meatball.

@@InsiderFood , will there be a US Vs Canada Food Wars? 🍔 🍗 🍕 🌭 🌮 🌯 🍩 🍪 🍟 🥤 🍦 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
We had an okay Papa Johns that gradually declined until we stopped getting it, but over the years it became clear that any "new" product that was just them using pizza dough/ingredients they already had in some new application wasn't going to be worth paying for. Their nuggets/wings were fine though.
Also does Joe have the palette of a 12 year old?
The color of the crusts got me thinking the US has it right allowing all the chemicals and colors 😂
Papa Johns dough is Flour, salt, yeast, sugar, water and soybean oil.
Thats it.
@@heroinboblivesagain5478 why the British one looks arguably repulsive then lol
@@nick.100 Its just underbaked. US and UK dough are the same. Whatever store they got the UK pies from, their oven is set too low.
@@heroinboblivesagain5478 that’s crazy the uk place consistently got that same color because I’ve never got a pizza that color in the us from any pizza place ever but it’s possible but if true someone does need to be fired
Peeps say the same about the bright yellow fries in the US looking more appetising than the pale yellow “natural” fries in the UK. Having grown up in the UK I find the paler more natural looking fries more appetising. I’d say it just depends what you’re used to, I find US consumers are generally seeking MORE vibrant colour, MORE vibrant flavour.
Is papa jones uk dough undercooked?
It always is. I ask them to cook it a little longer
How do you get each other’s orders even when staying each other’s countries. Cause you didn’t ship the food via plane
Ballygowan water is Irish Joe!
In my town we have a papa Murphy's take n bake which is always amazing and close to that is Papa John's. Everyone always gets them confused and I'm just like "omg papa Murphy's does NOT compare to papa John's. Ever."
as someone who lives in northern ireland it hurts to see joe call ballygowan water scottish
Harry needs to take Joe to Nando’s. Give him all the piri piri
😭😭😭😭😭 I miss Papa Johns.... Best pizzeria in Malaysia!
Large in the US (14") is actually ~153sq in rather than ~193 :)
As someone who previously worked for PJs in the US for a long time, the meatballs can get pretty gross. It was hardly ever ordered, and they didn't seem to last very long before they started looking horrible. I remember throwing many lexans of them away. Also when we first started making Papadias, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever, but we sold a ton.
where's the 4k !
I love your content but could you tell us what you do with the leftovers in Food Wars and Food Tours. Please don't tell me you just throw them away.
as far as i know any uneatern food is given to foodbanks or something similar, I am sure Joe has mentioned it on his live streams but don't take my word for it
You definitely get the pepper with a Papa Johns pizza in the UK (in Scotland at least), unless that's changed in the last couple of years...?
In England, admittedly not had it often as I think it's awful, but never seen a pepper in the box.
I think so, maybe it only comes with certain pizzas but I seem to remember getting one and it had the pepper in it, although I haven’t had papas in a while cos it’s shit
Yeah, I've not had one in 3 - 4 years, but I went to our local branch a couple of times when it first opened a few years back, and you always got a banana pepper with each pizza. Always been their signature so strange if that's now discontinued.
Havent had one since Covid to be honest...then again even when I did get them they were normally so mullered that they less resembled a pepper and more resebled Tabasco.
You used to get it with every pizza but I’ve not had one with it for a good few years now. Think they stopped sometime before Covid
Yes Parmesan Romano is a real cheese. It's a English for parmesiano reggiano.
20 years ago, when I lived in the UK, there were two spicy peppers with every papa john's pizza. I lived in several countries since and I am really sad to report: the spicy pepper is slowly dissapearing.
Bring back the damn spicy peppers, what is this nonesense !!!?!?!
Visiting Orlando for the first time, coming from Europe, I was surprised at how good Papa John's was. Given I don't know what "ingredients" they're allowed to use there..
If just out of the oven, pretty good. I never eat that pepper. I just let it observe the action for a while.
good video
Pls do mexico vs usa McDonald's 1:27
You should get the boys together to try fast food only one country has such as nandos or something
Standard garlic sauce(special) is awful.
When I get papa John’s I usually get extra sauce
Patronize your local pizza joint. Just go to a Joe’s Pizza. Papa John’s , like Dominos is a right-wing owned string of stores.
Big question is are the meatballs also gluten free?
Papa John's spicy chicken wings are a bigger draw for me than their pizzas.❤
Joe is such an eye candy
Never had a papa John's or any other pizza the only place I go is to my local Italian pizza.... we can get ranch in the uk from tescos it's paul Newman ranch.
Ballygowan!!
@22:24 😂😂😂
As an American with European friends. Papa John’s is not representative of our tastes. Basically everywhere in America has a better pizza choice than PJs. And we don’t eat twinkies! Lol!
without further checking no way 14 inch to 16 inch pizza is just a difference in ~12 sqaure inch guys :D
As well as making me hungry, this proves that UK is skimping on half an inch, half an inch makes the difference.
Papa John's near me in the UK is excellent. They look nothing like those US pizzas
They all look dried out. Papa John’s in the US isn’t bad if it’s fresh and you get just a cheese/veggie pie. The sausage isn’t bad either but the meatballs look horrific.
Parmasean Romano cheese is a real cheese harry
23:31 watch how you're saying that word
is anyone out there actually choosing Papa Jones over any other option?
Okay I know I’m going to be called silly, but I’ve got to ask. How do they have both countries exclusive items but are in the same room?
They aren’t in the same room.
just thinking about the production cost of getting all the specialty pizzas and extra menu items makes me feel poorer than I am.
Can you please do this with jollibee
Jason Statham @ 17:07
They must have threw away at least 10 slices after 1 bite
It's funny because Large used be 16 inches and X-Large 18 inches
I THINK PARMIGIANNO ROMANO IS A MIX OF PARMIGIANNO REGIANO AND PECORINO ROMANO
I didn’t know papa John’s is in uk
Yayyy finally! Papa Johns!
Not sure Mountain Dew is a US drink, we have it in Australia
Believe it started in US, but evidently travelled around. s I am not a 14 year old boy I hate that stuff.
Those bowls look foul 😫
people tend to love Papa John's, but i personally do not. in fact, the first and only time i tried them, i went hungry that night, because both Pizzas we ordered were virtually inedible. "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza", my fat Irish ASS!
Root beer takes like medicine, about as much further away from Dandelion & Burdock you can get haha
