- Today I built two brackets from 1x4's to be used in conjunction with an ikea desktop to make an AMAZING (subjective) wall mounted desk. A true underdog story.

I liked the genuineness of the video with flaws during work rather than taking multiple takes to make a clean flawless video just for pleasing viewers.
Despite the epilepsy attack-inducing cuts, this is a great simple build, i think i'm gonna follow it to make a desk for my sister.
Hahaha
I like that you tried to be as entertaining as informative in making this video. Additionally, you didn’t bombard this masterpiece with stupid commercials. You show your mistakes and frustrations. I like that. My compliments on how well the piece turned out; it looks really nice. It shows you are particular about your work. I can identify with such an appreciation for details. Awesome!
👌💪🏽✅🤓👀
From the bowed boards to the drill bits falling out, you got a sub
Came out pretty snazzy! I'm all about instant gratification too, but my stuff rarely comes out looking as good.
thanks!! don't sweat it. perhaps one day i'll post a video of my diy project wasteland...some ugly stuff hiding in the corner of my workshop!
Like the sense of humor. Keep it up. Good job.
thank you! will do!
Reload, made me laugh ;)
Built mine over a year ago. It has been the best desk I have ever had. I'm a big guy I always feel cramped with most desk.
Thanks man!
yeah man this design has unparalleled leg space! keep a look out i've got this desk 2.0 vid dropping soon!
hello man do you think this kinf of build can hold a heavy PC on it im thinking of building one but im worried that its cant hold my case up there
Reload! Had to watch that again. Keep the great videos coming.
Yes!! One of my favorite parts! Will do thanks @almagueram!
this is awesome! I'm definitely going to build this in my office.
Really enjoy your videos, keep em coming.
Thanks Matthew much appreciated man!
Even if the result would have been a disaster, It was very fun to watch. But you did great. Both the desk itself, but also the entire video. Congrats! I am looking to build myself a desk in a corner of my apartment, to save some space.
I have the exact same problem with bits falling out of my Makita drill. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has to deal with it! Great video.
Really? I thought it was just me! Drives me crazy! Thanks Justin!
@@DIYwithRick Happens on my Greenworks drill too. It's ridiculous
Wow, looks really nice! Awesome job.
Good job Rick! Looks real nice in the room!
Very nice project and fun to watch. Loved the audio drop when the bit fell for the second time haha
Thank you! Always fun emphasizing my mistakes and mishaps...
top 3 diy channels dude, awesome video keep it up! get that money!
hah thanks anthony!
great idea. i also think if you get a portable lamp like a lumiy lightline or lightblade it would also make the space bright and usable day or night
High production value, Rick! keep it up!
Thanks Omar! I'll do my best!
Was looking to upgrade my room with a wall mounted desk and I was excited to see this video, got a seizure in first 5 seconds.
Same here dude. That pitch black screen makes me dizzy.
He should probably edit that scene.
Peace out!
also, Mount power strip underside of tabletop, Thanks for the video, really clean job

It's so beautiful. I love it!
thanks igor!

Very nice doable project by any DIY. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it!
Hi just curious have u ever test the amount of weight or, a guesstimate on how much weight you can put on the table before this bracket starts to give or signs of about to give?
DIYwithRick do you have the plan for this?
Hey poor gamer I've got the material purchase & cut list on my site: diywithrick.com/2016/06/14/build-wall-mounted-desk/
I'll likely do a written guide once I get a free minute.
Many thanks, I have been researching "make a furniture" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Venoffison Wooden Exploration - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my partner got excellent success with it.
Wow Greattt!!!... am gonna make this right now!!!.. Thanks mate
Looks awesome!
really dig that desk! Nice job.
Thanks Jeff!
I love that u didn't edit out the blunders hahaha, it shows how real things really are. Great job man
blunders? what blunders?! hahah
@@DIYwithRick Marketing strategy.... hahah, Wiseman.
Great idea and looks really good. Though I would of cut a gap at the back of the table and/or cut a circle hole into the desk to feed the power cables through and drilled the power strip in the the table. The cable trunks don't look good.
Very good DIY, and humor, in case your head gets too big.
Wiping on stain with an old white shirt or at least wiping after brushing always works well for me , gets rid of dark spots and build up for a uniform finish
Great tip Paul I'll give it a try on the next one!
Thank you for this video! I was already considering legs.
No problem Chris!
looking good, any idea for the conceal wall hung type?
Nice work, I'm useless at anything practical like this - but I enjoyed watching your skills. Subscribed.
Thanks rzlosty! Give it a shot sometime, you'd be surprised what you're capable of!
Great job. simple hide, drill hole in table under monitor to run your wires , also can run your lamp wires to the middle under shelf down to hole.
Great advice robert! Thank you!
That is awesome beautiful 😍😍
Love the reload comment!
haha! I'm a big fan of your channel David! Your "how to make drawers" videos helped me out A LOT for my dresser build! Thanks for stopping by.

aaahhhh! I can't stand the blink cuts, but the project is great.
Yeah...some experiments don't always go as planned. But I had to try it, it's in my bones! Smoother futures ahead, I promise! Glad you dig the build man!
Haha, I thought it was my internet connection.. Good video though!
MrKeeDub lol! thanks for hanging in there through the blink cuts!

What is the office paint color and brand?
Next week after im done painting my room im hanging a table top in the corner of my room. Should i buy 20 inch steal brackets for 15 dollars each, or should i just build the brackets from 2x4 what is your opinion?
That's so cool I want a desk like that
Build it!!
Good job. Also I liked your walls. What are they covered?
Thanks Walera! I forget the paint color!
awesome dude
Looking good, sir!
Thanks Carter!
Hey! Can you please tell me what drywall anchors did you use to attach it to the wall?
HI, I am an Asian subscriber of your channel, and I like your vedio very much, and the idea of your work as well. Simple, but trendy, great job.
Since he was assembled, is the office still so straight? or is it affessed? I am going to make a desk in 1600 / 600mm maple wood, but I wonder if its going to hold with three square of 450 / 600mm.
Nice project. I noticed you have the same Ryobi miter saw that I do.....except I don't have those nice tubular extension arms. Got the holes they go into...but no arms. Would have been nice......
Very nice and humours vid Sir. What did you use for the desk top?
Slick Roode looks like a sheet of melamine.
Was wondering what to do this weekend... guess I found it
This video was excellent.
How much weight do you think it can support? Just curious, want to make one
love your vids man! quick question... did you mount the desk supports to the beam?
thanks jaff! yep I mounted both of the supports into wall studs.
Brilliant!
it was well explained.
I would like to know how did you paint your table.. I like that color
Thanks Joe! It's an Ikea tabletop. Check out my site for all the build details: diywithrick.com/2016/06/14/build-wall-mounted-desk/
Looks good!!!
thanks hector!
good job, you are so creative & funny to ;)
please! song in the end??
Have you done a folding version of that?
Think two 1x4s would support a 2x6 melamine too? (With a 2x4) running along the back for support...
Paint the white caps with stain and also your cable conduit with the wall paint if you don't want to run it through the wall
Thank you, I knew I looked nice ;)
Rick,
Where did you find the 3/4" white hole plugs? I can't find them anywhere......
What was used to secure the table top to the brackets?
screws!
Nice looking desk.
Thanks Bruce!
How much weight would you estimate this could hold?
What is the name of that wood plz tell me
@DIYwithRick what load can these brackets support?
Also would 1x3 ceder work?
Let’s say I make the same brackets with 2x4s or 4x4s and mount them to the studs in the wall. Can I then run a pipe across and use it as a pull-up bar? Can it hold 300+ pounds swinging on it? Thanks.
Awesome Thanks a million
What size bolts did you use to fix the brackets to the wall ?
where do you get the top white actual desk from?
how heavy can it handle?
Where’d the desktop come from? Did I miss something?
you look SO much like Travis Alexander (Jodi Arias)
also, this turned out so well. thanks for sharing !
what paint color is the wall?
The only thing I didn`t was the cable management. But any way looks great. Good Job!
Yeah I mounted the desk and wanted to get the video up so I didn't finish up the CM. Thanks Alessandro!
Not a huge fan of pocketholes when it comes to maximum strength, but the desk looks nice enough. You really need to sort out that cable ducting though, I'm sure you can come up with a more aesthetic solution.
Awesome desk man
thank you!

what's the white desk size measurement?
is it possible to edit this so it becomes height adjustable?
I really like the style of you're video's :)
Keep it up :D
Thanks garmaniiii !!
This is just what I'm looking to do, though I'd like to adapt it slightly so it collapses. What did you use for the top?
EDIT: I have just seen the link to your site with the material list 😆
I think after watching this, I'm going to be watching a lot more of your videos...
What did you use for the top ?
nice work - suggestion: would look good with some dowel rod wood plugs in the screw holes instead of those plastic ones.
Great suggestion Philip! Thank you! I'll check those dowel wood plugs out and give them a try.
I must get some tools. Thanks for video.
Half way through the vedio and I felt "Daaaam this guy has humor... Where's the subscribe button!!!?""
where did you get the lil white caps to fill 3/4 holes for lag bolts please sir?
hey mrpharill! they're at lowes/home depot in the hardware aisle. you can find them in the "special hardware" drawers below the hanging bags. hope that helps!
