  • Today I built two brackets from 1x4's to be used in conjunction with an ikea desktop to make an AMAZING (subjective) wall mounted desk. A true underdog story.

    Despite the epilepsy attack-inducing cuts, this is a great simple build, i think i'm gonna follow it to make a desk for my sister.

    I like that you tried to be as entertaining as informative in making this video. Additionally, you didn’t bombard this masterpiece with stupid commercials. You show your mistakes and frustrations. I like that. My compliments on how well the piece turned out; it looks really nice. It shows you are particular about your work. I can identify with such an appreciation for details. Awesome!

    Built mine over a year ago. It has been the best desk I have ever had. I'm a big guy I always feel cramped with most desk.

    Even if the result would have been a disaster, It was very fun to watch. But you did great. Both the desk itself, but also the entire video. Congrats! I am looking to build myself a desk in a corner of my apartment, to save some space.

    I have the exact same problem with bits falling out of my Makita drill. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has to deal with it! Great video.

      great idea. i also think if you get a portable lamp like a lumiy lightline or lightblade it would also make the space bright and usable day or night

      Many thanks, I have been researching "make a furniture" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Venoffison Wooden Exploration - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my partner got excellent success with it.

    Great idea and looks really good. Though I would of cut a gap at the back of the table and/or cut a circle hole into the desk to feed the power cables through and drilled the power strip in the the table. The cable trunks don't look good.

    Wiping on stain with an old white shirt or at least wiping after brushing always works well for me , gets rid of dark spots and build up for a uniform finish

    Great job. simple hide,drill hole in table under monitor to run your wires , also can run your lamp wires to the middle under shelf down to hole.

    Next week after im done painting my room im hanging a table top in the corner of my room. Should i buy 20 inch steal brackets for 15 dollars each, or should i just build the brackets from 2x4 what is your opinion?

    Since he was assembled, is the office still so straight? or is it affessed? I am going to make a desk in 1600 / 600mm maple wood, but I wonder if its going to hold with three square of 450 / 600mm.

    Nice project. I noticed you have the same Ryobi miter saw that I do.....except I don't have those nice tubular extension arms. Got the holes they go into...but no arms. Would have been nice......

    Paint the white caps with stain and also your cable conduit with the wall paint if you don't want to run it through the wall

    Let’s say I make the same brackets with 2x4s or 4x4s and mount them to the studs in the wall. Can I then run a pipe across and use it as a pull-up bar? Can it hold 300+ pounds swinging on it? Thanks.

    Not a huge fan of pocketholes when it comes to maximum strength, but the desk looks nice enough. You really need to sort out that cable ducting though, I'm sure you can come up with a more aesthetic solution.

    nice work - suggestion: would look good with some dowel rod wood plugs in the screw holes instead of those plastic ones.

      hey mrpharill! they're at lowes/home depot in the hardware aisle. you can find them in the "special hardware" drawers below the hanging bags. hope that helps!
