Looks awesome! PS - I think generally you're supposed to pull card scrapers, rather than push them - this will make it much more comfortable for your hand. I'm no expert, but I know it'll leave your wood smooth and hard, just like your mom.

Yes, very amusing and very informative. As for the scraper, just blow that $1,000 you'd put aside for a dirty weekend away with the missus and buy a Veritas Scraper Holder. Six (6) inches should do the trick, and because I'm an Australian, I'll leave the obvious joke well alone. So, I'm late to the party by about 2 years? Well, I'm an Australian. Hahaaa, dissing a cardboard table top, and desperately finding studs because the drywall won't hold your desk. I understand the economic efficiency of stick frame building, but as a European living in a concrete and brick house, it will always seem a bit vulnerable. But that's a very nicely built and good looking wall mounted table, with a lot of love in the project.

Word to your mother. Whether pushing or pulling with a card scraper it is supposed to be nearly perpendicular to the workpiece. They get ground flat and burnished so a burr forms and bends over making a “hook”. It looked like you were pushing it like a chisel which definitely makes for uncomfortable hands.
