    Thank you all for the positive response. Though the Led didn't come out as slick as I like, it should be an easy fix. Thanks for watching guys. What would you like to see next? I do have a set of plans for this desk here gum.co/mGZU
    I'm also on instagram you can find me here instagram.com/diycreators2015/

      Nice build. Led strips can make things look less classy, but I like them. Maybe a thin frosted acrylic would give it a cleaner look. With floating shelves or desks I'm always scared of it not being strong enough, maybe someone will lean on it or something. Thanks for showing it can take a lot of weight.

      Had another idea across the day:
      how about a little build with mirrors? Something like "the houndred mirrors of awesomeness" with a little less catchy title of course. ^^
      I mean, you surely find a piece of furniture or a spot in a floor or outside that could use a nice decoration, and glass cutting or any mirror work (such as mirror foil on wood)! (With or without the LED's xD )

    The desk you built last year was amazing. This one here is really good. Now it is just hard to pick one to love. 😂😂😂 I love this project. And I love last year's table you made. You are just a genius. The tent for spraying is a killer. I never thought of that. You're just a special genius. I love the ebony stain you use. Am a fan of dark colours ever since I had eyesight problems plus it is also a modern look. Always looking forward to the next video. Absolutely perfect, Glen.

      You could man, That why I make these video the way I do. I want to instill hope that is is indeed possible. Years ago I was wishing I could do this. Just don't expect perfection every time. That's why I show my mistakes, because even though I picked up a ton of experience over the years. Its still my first time making any of these build I attempt. They are all prototypes.

    Pretty sweet project, i think the only thing i would change is recess the led light strip a little further down into the top so it cant be seen directly. That way it casts its light straight up the wall.

    • @XZaneLP
      @XZaneLP 8 лет назад +2

      Interesting idea. I also wonder, how a surface like this would look without LED's and a set of spot lights instead, targeted at either the surface or one part of it or perhaps the place (here: the wall) behind...?

      u could always put the led strip further down and put either usual acrylic glass (more light) or milky acrylic glass, no clue whether that's the right name that's at least the direct translation from how we are calling it in german :3
      the milky/white transparent acrylic glass would be a more dimmed version
      edit: read in the comments below that it's called frosted acrylic well good to know ^^

  • @cobsonjobban9210
    @cobsonjobban9210 3 года назад +7

    When installing led strip try to make I so that you cannot see the actual LED's. Indirect led lighting looks so much more nicer and installing them so that they face the wall and the light bounces of the wall. Just an idea to keep in mind. Makes a big difference, try it sometime. Nice desk and good videos keep up the great work.

    I really like your videos. You don't use hard to find exotic woods or expensive tools, but you build some really cool stuff that anyone could do. My favorite part of your videos is your creativity in the way you get the job done. Nail heads to mark wood, camping tent for a paint booth, very cool ideas that I can't believe I hadn't thought of. Thanks for sharing your builds with us.

    This is a great idea to spray inside the tent! Thanks so much for sharing that! ♥ I love to spray big pieces, too, and my basement is always covered in paint dust :))) Now it won't be :)

    • @randomvideosn0where
      @randomvideosn0where 8 лет назад +2

      That is really unhealthy, you should really have something to vent while painting. In our basement we took an old hood from over a stove and vented it out an old dryer vent but you could make your own you just need a hole in the rim joist with one of the flap vents to keep things out.

    • @Autism_Forever
      @Autism_Forever 8 лет назад +2

      That all would be great if I owned :)))) But I rent. I think the landlord is going to really flip over if he sees me sticking some vents out of the house :)))) He already is unnerved by me with my mega sized craft project always going on :) For now, I am just setting the tent up next to the window. It is easier to clean one window than the entire basement :)

      Indeed he would make a great job. However, opening a business and being self-employed is a huge risk. If he was to get a sponsorship deal with a company for his channel, that would be already risky, although I wish him best of luck in getting that chance. But, as much as we like the videos, we have to accept that he has a private life AND all the obligations coming with it. I assume he would have fun with it either way though... ^^

      Because you see this as fun and it gives you a chance to see if youd like to do more. Then the cost of the tools make it worth it. I would set a budget for the tools after deciding what you want to limit your learning projects to and NOT go over.

      not really, hes glueing the bottom of his drawer, which is a stupid thing to do, when there is a lot of moist in the air wood will expand, due to it being glued and really tight in the drawer it will start cracking over time eventually

    • @chris2944
      @chris2944 7 лет назад +5

      CrystallizedCrew || Commentator seems a bit unrealistic

    • @CrystallPlays
      @CrystallPlays 7 лет назад

      definitely not you're working with solid wood, it needs space to expand and shrink, the glue is stronger than the wood it self causing it to break. glueing panels of a drawer is only done on big drawers and then only on some places so the bottom won't fall out when shrinking to much.

    • @DamoVegan
      @DamoVegan 7 лет назад +7

      You don't get much wood movement at all in plywood, which he used in the drawer base. Because the ply's alternate, it creates a very stable product, unlike solid timber which is susceptible to wood movement with changes in ambient moisture levels.
