I love the scene where Tirion shatters Frostmourne with the Ashbringer while Nobbel wields....... the Ashbringer.
NEMESIS1999
At least it wasn't Light's Vengeance or Frostmourne repaired. People would be OUTRAGED!
Brandon Schemers both light’s vengeance and frostmourne are used to create shadowmourne
I blame the Bronze Dragons for that one
@@budmaam Why would people be mad that Nobbel is carrying the Ashbringer?
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the the Lich King, one of the most well recognized people from Warcraft, has yet to come in any form in Hearthstone?
There has to be an adventure surrounding ICC and it better be good.
It could be a playable hero, one can only hope...
still waiting for deathknight class..
it could still be him being a palla skin but that seems strange
Summon Skele Soldier?
2:18 "He's got an Ashbringer!" "You idiot, we all have Ashbringers!"
Froutsmourne (or what's left of it ) ? Check
Four Hourseman? Check
Being a Frost Death Knight ?Check
Having all the Death knight's working for you? Check
Well. Guess who is becoming Lich King soon?
Cool ass helmet? Nope
We still need the cool ass helmet :(
nighthold mythic deathnkight tier set screams Lich king at least
To be honest Arthas was more of the Blood and Unholy dk back in the WC3. Death coil blood pack UNHOLY aura..hmmm Only thing that is frost is his Legendary Two-hand sword.
Still bolvar
No one....
Just watching stuff about Arthas makes me want to cry. After reading Christie Golden's book, Arthas is by far my favorite character.
Illadin is the edgelord of edgelords. He makes Reaper look normal.
+Tenkurel dude Deathwing
Same! I bought the book two days ago, finished it, reread it, and couldn't stop. I'm glad that they made DK Arthas a sarcastic, narcissistic jerk in the book like he was in WC3, it made me what love him so much when I played the Scourge campain.
who can make reaper look what? "Death Comes" "DIE DIE DIE!!!""
Dude legit, i love the new artifact system and the lore we get reminded of and introduced to is so amazing!
If real Ner'zhul is still there, he is inside the Helm of Domination, not in Frostmourne.
Agreed!
Last i heard he was Purged but they could have retconned it
yes ofc inside helm only mature will understand that
He is in both. But his "HQ" is the helm.
***** That's not old lore. It just Lore.
"And in the end it cost him everything."
So I guess you can say
"IN THE END, IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER!"
Bolvar Fordragon doesn't sound like himself anymore. Not only the voice, but the words. He's very much become the Lich King. One wonders if he'll be the villain in a future expansion
I'm hoping that the legion has remained in control of the lich king all along, I'm hoping that while we're on argus in 7.3, the new lich king rises and stabs azeroth in the back.
Great video! I love how you tell the story of the questline using scenes from WC3 to tie is all together. I look forward to watching other artifact videos!
Nobbel, is it one of your goals to make lore videos for each of the class order hall campaigns? I'd love to see those videos! I know it would take a long time, but it'd be awesome if someday you get them all done and on your channel. Keep up the good work!
ahhh i was dying for this video actually! I REALLY love the fact that Frost dk are the ONLY spec that I can see the old Lich king. Thank you for this video Nobbel I love being frost dk even more
I noticed while hunting for the missing artifact (this one) for my DK, that the heroes that became cursed after Arthas slayed them, have their clothes resemble their Warcraft 3 counterparts, the paladins have colored cloaks, and the Dwarf has a blue uniform with a Hammer and an Axe :D
Not sure if you ever read these, but i've been a fan of your videos for a long time and only recently made a youtube account to subscribe.
Keep up the good work. All your videos are a great watch, and I thank you very much for the work you put into them.
Thanks for all your work Nobbel, great vid as always
"Why can't we reforge Frostmourne as a two handed?"
Because it's an EVIL LIVING SWORD THAT WANTS TO KILL EVERYONE.
no it was the lich kings spirit that corrupted arthas. also if we cant have frostmourne why the fuck is a random as paladin suddenly worthy of having the motherfucking ashbringer?
Sandro Guzelj
The SWORD is ALIVE. The Lich King lives in the Helm of Domination. Frostmourne is a separate entity. Ashbringer isn't sentient and telling paladins to smite everyone like it's the damn Ghost Rider.
Moonshadow Dark
it still is simply unfair that every class gets awesome new toys and dks get a cheap ass knockoff. screw these terrible looking chopsticks
Sure, totally unfair. You get to wield a safe and powerful version of the blade that dominated Northrend without becoming enslaved to it's evil spirit's insatiable blood lust.
Moonshadow Dark
safe? maybe powerful? not compared to frostmourne! also these two sword look absolutely hideous not to mention we dks should get a proper runeblade. dks are treated like crap while palas get the real ashbringer. they should also only be able to imbue a sword with ashbringers power instead of getting the real one
I don't think I've ever heard a more recognizable voice in all of youtube. My friend was watching one of Nobbel's videos on lore, and it was playing over his mic. I was like "Is that Nobbel? What video are you watching?"
always nice to see these, Great work man
Damn dude your videos makes me way too much happy, keep making them :D
Excellent as usual.
great vids m8 loved them
Woop!! Been wanting this. Rolled a dk recently because of this story. I'm so excited.
I rather would've reforged Forstmourne as a one-handed sword, maybe Frost- + Shadowmourne, than two blades lookin' exactly the same.
I could work with 2 swords if one was a one handed sword looking extremely similiar to Frostmourne and a dagger with a nicely resemblance to Frostmourne, but instead we got one sword and a copy
Love these lore videos!!
man i love your videos keep them up ;)
I'd love to see Bolvar LK do something instead of staying on the crown.
O Hehehehe
@O XD
still would have like one 2H Froustmourne more than 2 1Handers
this is such a treat for anyone who first had their warcraft start in warcraft 3 like me!
what? sry but its a straight up insult! other classes get the real thing and we get some stupid looking chopsticks that dont even resemble frostmourne.
If you really played Warcraft 3 and WoW up to WOTLK its all just horrible casual bullshit that story-wisely went retarded too.
But hey, anyone having Ashbringer now! What fun! *not* RIP variety cause someone is too lazy to design weapons
Puella Magi Homura Akemi
exactly! also just think about how palas will now be able to taunt and insult dks: hey you wanna have a duel between ashbringer and frostmourne? oops sry i forgot you dont have it!. honestly nobody should have such op weapons
tbh tho its been almost 10 years, we have hundreds of weapons to tmog our artifacts too, i like the progression of power of the weps and the fact we can tmog them makes it so that its hardly any different
i forgot great joob nobel you are my number one wow lore story teller keep up the good vork
this lore was so good
:O lore on Saturday.. It must me christmas already
Death Knights in Shadowlands about to torture Uther
It's so annoying that the options for Death Knights are LITERALLY THE SHARDS OF FROSTMOURNE or some axe and sword no one has heard of untill now...
Erik Le Blanc yeah the other 2 weapons are lols
Erik Le Blanc there was a comic bout apocalyps though
And fucking warlocks get the god damn Scepter of Sargeras... smh... And all blizz can say is "'uh duh frostmourne is too op it can trap souls uh duh" while they give locks a scepter that literally destroyed fucking Draenor and a scythe that does literally the same thing as the Frostmourne.
It would have been cool if we could take the shards frostmourne create a two handed sword akin to frostmourne but no we get the used toothpicks of the Fallen Prince 😑
of course ner'zhul's still there, his voice is the same, his attitude is the same (except for using legions of scourged for his cause) even his hatred for the legion is the same and on top of that we didn't even purge his echo from the blade
exactly
Appreciate these videos nobbel.
Nobbel did you see that they changed the description on the twin blades? in beta the second blade said "and now we are one." and now it's "I will show you the justice of the grave and the true meaning of fear,"
Because the first one doesn't make sense with dual blades.
@Mr.Vojtik
But the text doesn't refer to the blades, the text refers to Ner'zhul/the Lich King and Arthas/us. As in, now WE are one with him and unless we manage to hold control, he will take control.
The second description is just a quote from the LK, I think the first one is more fitting tho, even if I liked his quote in the game. :D
VijoPlays Do you think I don't know that?
But having "We are one" written on something you purposely broke into two pieces is just unfitting.
The current text is from Wrathgate. I means a lot for those who played during Wotlk.
Mr.Vojtik
Why is it unfitting, if it doesn't even refer to the blades then? Mind helping me out with that a bit?
Just because it says "We are one" and you have 2 blades?
+Mr.Vojtik you just made a mess there. So you agree with the guy, then in some sort of split personality disorder you formulate a question which shows you understood 0 of what he said? Lol.
So when Arthas said "I see only darkness before me" it's because he was never free'd whatsoever when we defeated him, he was always doomed to be a victim of his own weapon and trapped within the blade along with Ner'Zhul, interesting, wonder if this new Bi-Polar Bolvar will truly be an ally or just wants the legion gone so he can then turn on what's left of our world
That moment when the dragon of time could not see the future where we now know that it was because Uther threw him into the maw.
@@Mahons Ja Ja
Yo Nobbel , enjoyed your work since the start of those lore videos so i'll just leave a question :
Will you continue those artifact lore videos and by which artifacts will you ?
"You will create a blade without equal"
*Blades of the fallen Prince*
"I said A BLADE, not blades jackass"
Venom Snake those bloody dks never listen
What I liked about this quest was how we see the new Lich King slipping so readily into the slippers of the old (true) Lich King. There's no compassion for the souls you need to overcome to get the shards, Bolvar even lauds your ruthlessness where 'the weak showed mercy'. He talks of making you his champion, the 'enforcer of his will'. The Lich King is still destined to be a merciless tyrant and I love it.
Still think Jaina the Lich Queen would be amazing though.
awesome
Demon hunters + wrath of the lich king? Poor demons..
Will you do all the weapons? The shadowpriest one is pretty cool
Glad to see there will be more legion lore videos. Though i wonder if the whats written down in the archive area for the deathknight will be similar to what you told us or will they tell more or less or maybe all together knew? I don't dk so i wont know until you do a vid on it lol
they tell us the story of frostmourne that we already knew.
they tell us the story of frostmourne that we already knew.
ah that's somewhat disappointing. I guess the other ones will be more interesting as they are new. But i am very impressed they brought 4 named characters back for ghosts for this
Clever Lich King. Convince the death knights that you're "allies" in exchange for something you were already going to do anyway. A far more convincing approach than a simple threat.
They gave Frostmourne a new texture. Neat.
wow 9.0: wrath of the new lich king
wow 10.0: the next cataclysm
wow 11.0: smog of pandaria
wow 12.0: legacy of dreanor's warlord
wow 13.0: the blazing legion
wow 14.0: another battle for azeroth
MAH ARTIFACT! YUSS!
I'm just excited to see Nobbel talk about it though, I know its whole story already xD
Now Nobbel I have to ask you some help from you (and actually every reader), I'm (and many other frost DKs) in the quest of finding the hidden artifact appearance for this artifact, and I have to find an item called "The Runes of the Darkening" (got it from wowhead). Well I need someone to help me with this, and I figured you could help me, the item has a yellow text that says that the runes are "Written in an ancient language that no living soul remembers, yet somehow the words leap to your tongue, yearning to be read." knowing this, can you give me any suggestion on what they could be related to? Like zone or type of characters (aside from DKs)? All I've gathered is that it could be linked to the vrykul as they are those who taught the Scourge the way to use runes, or maybe Tichondrius has something to do with it, as he appeared as Tichondrius the Darkener in the Broken Shore and the runes are called runes of the Darkening.
I'd appreciate any help, thank you.
+Bernardo Apv
What is anyone here supposed to know that can't already be found on Wowhead?
Do you plan on doing one video per Artifact, Class Order Hall Campaign and legion zone? I would watch them all :D
Last time I was this early... Who am I kidding, I'm never early.
That little part of the O Thanagor/Invincible soundtrack when you claim the blades was a nice touch, kinda sucks that Death Knights can't get the proper Frostmourne but I guess these will have to do.
Well done nobbel!
Sooo, who’s ready to speculate that LK ghost was referring to the Jailer at 4:20?
Doomhammer next? :D Also great vid as always!
he should do that last, it's the most boring one
arms storyline is pretty cool
It's possibly like nerzul talkin about slaying dreadlords, so who knows if we could see lk like boss again
Hey Nobbel! Love your work! I have a few questions for you though!
So Bolvar is the new Lich king, but he used to be a paladin right? So is he still with the light or is he against it?
Some of the things he says during the Frost artifact quest line are a bit contradictory!
that paladin didnt give up the light, but bolvar wants you to show him the error of his ways. so surprising that bolvar is getting corrupted...
Do the Kingslayers next!
Best.. lore.. in Warcraft.
those visions or art has the previous lich king, I can't help but think he is speaking about Bolvar or a higher power from my experience in running into him in high mountain. it's just about the same phrase that the old gods tell you in uldaur in pre legion.
are you going to do the DK order hall campaign. I don't have a DK but the campaign looks cool
Soo uhh if you play as Paladin, you become the Ashbringer, and if you play as a death knights become take blades that are as strong as frostmourne. Cool.
no not cool...dks only get stupid looking chopsticks that look nothing like frostmourne while palas get the real ashbringer and shamis get the fucking doomhammer. feels like they want to shit on dks as much as possible
It wouldn't make sense lore wise to give frost dks Frostmourne since Sylvanas owns one of the shards. They could have made the blades look more like Frostmourne though.
*****
dude they retconned so much that WoW lore holds as much credibility as twilight fanfics.
Sandro Guzelj lol yeah.
Retribution paladins. My paladin quests as prot instead of ret because it is so much easier. Ret sucks. You should be complaining why you cant reforge the legendary axe from icc with the shards.
What makes me very curious how things go with the death knight campaign is that during the special interactions with Arthas while you wield the blades, Arthas does say you won't be free. Is the soul of the lich king trying to convince you to rebel against Bolivar and let the scourge be unleashed, or is Bolivar no longer in control and really is trying to discreetly take the Death Knights under his control. Only time will tell I guess.
please do the lore of apocalypse!
This quest line makes it seem like the New Lich King is just Ner'zhul, and that Bolvar Fordragon isn't doing a good job of controlling the Lich King. If Bolvar was the driving force behind this new Lich king I don't think he'd be so merciless and hell-bent on demon killing.
I did question the Lich King's motives and fervent disdain for the Dreadlords and the Legion. Considering the "spirit of Ner'zhul" is still "alive" after you kill off Arthas's spirit, I'd assume that Ner'zhul still remains. However, the fact that they are specifically targeting the dreadlords (outside of strategic purposes) would suggest that Arthas still may be hanging around as well, and his hatred for Mal'ganis and his ilk may remain.
I hope the Doomhammer is next! I unlocked it myself on my shaman, but don't really understand how Thrall lost it..
So... they left the shards of Frostmourne up there, just laying there at the Frozen Throne... Does that not seem wildly irresponsible and dangerous?
DK order hall plz! do that next!
Will you Cover the lore of the zones on the Broken isles
do arms warrior next
I love my paladin but this makes me want to play death knight :)
The first soul claimed by Frostmourne was that of Arthas; and there it remained the entire time, in lockstep with Ner'zhul. I think both their souls were still trapped there even after Tirion shattered the blade, and have remained for the past 6 years. Perhaps this is why Arthas saw only darkness when we killed his body, because his soul was still trapped. Now he and Ner'zhul are in an ever repeating echo of the past. I'm not sure what to make of Lich King Bolvar but there's something very unnerving about this whole story. I suspect our Frost-Knights are going to be operating at the behest of someone else.
The blade was made by the dreadlords, was there ever any confirmation that Arthas was indeed its first victim? If the dreadlords had it before giving it to Arthas, chances are that they had already taken souls from other planets etc.
There was a line in Warcraft 3 I want to say? A line like: "Frostmourne consumes the souls of it's victims and your own was the first to be claimed by it." - Directed at Arthas. Also that is heavily paraphrased. That line was the point of reference for my little theory there.
CryHavoc Ya I remember that part of WC3 but I think that was the first soul that they know of. Do we know how long that blade has been in existence? It could easily have consumed more souls before Arthas took hold of it we only know its story from WC3.
That is true. The idea behind the scourge was to soften Azeroth for the Legion's invasion, and Frostmourne was the tool by which they would achieve it. They knew Arthas would claim it, probably for a very long time, they knew; so leaving it where they did was by design. Whether or not the blade was used by the legion previously is unknown. I think what's implied is that it was created for that express purpose and had not seen any 'action' beforehand.
@@Fairefacts No it wasn't. It was made at the same time as the rest of the Armor they attached Ner'Zhul too. Or at least that was the case before Shadowlands retconned every interesting thing left in the lore
I thought Bolvar was supposed to be good? In this he sounds pretty evil. Wasn't the idea after killing the lich king to put a good guy in control of the scourge and keep it in check?
And how often does that work out in a Blizzard game? 0/3 so far.
Hey Nobbel seems like you have a new upload schedule? any specifics on that? love your videos man :))))))
He said that, because legion has so much content, he will upload his video's whenever they are ready.
Ah ok cheers
Why is Uther's soul still trapped whitin a shard of frostmourne and at the same time be free to appear in the ashbringer part?
if nobbel is going to respond to this i'm gonna paint my walls with mayonnaise!
Please send a picture when you're done
and that's a good meme x)
That's uh... not mayonnaise
OP better deliver!!!
lest Pitchforks Emporium shall descend upon thee!
op never delivers
Dang, this is so amazing compared to the Shaman's storyline. For the doomhammer you had to do some generic quests for the stonemother because Thrall dropping his hammer. And instead of standing on top of ICC we were in some random cave that was invaded by Legion trashmobs.
I love nobles voice
*Nobbel*
Eyyyy it's my swords.
Well the power of the Lifebinder Alex went shit. Bolvar became mad and edgy. And these undead they still didn't link the Fire..... Wait wrong lore.
I welcome the age of dark
Frost OP. Everyone talkin about how powerful UH is well my friends, Sindragosa would kill all the ghouls with enough mastery and obliteration talent provides an amazing burst - 320k damage untill 6m damage. It goes down to 170 after a few millions but they, you're dead so..
If there's a quest pend in first person that says, "the blades hunger", know then that you are truly boned.
Hey I'm early! Also frost Dk best dk.
Could you please do Syntch of Elune next. I read the lore behind it, but i'm a bit confused, how this artefact jumps from Duskwood to Northrend to Gilneas to Karazhan.
My theory: Arthas never took contol, since the whole book happened in his head it is possible that Ner'zhul corrupted his memories, couse if Arthas tried to fight Ner'zhul i belive that both Anub'arak(cause of his hatred of Ner'zhul) and Kel'thuzad(cause of the friendship he created with Arthas) would have helped him, so he needed to make him think he was in control, while the truth was that Ner'zhuls whispers became his only thoughts, His helm is called Helm of domination for a reason, and he has done the same to Bolvar, that also explains why Bolvar Lich King acts like Arthas, it is because it's not Bolvar in control anymore.
I wish things were more clear cut about arthas. especially considering he's one of if not the most popular character in world of warcraft.
exactly
Now I wanna level my DK...
Nobbel can we get a lore on the blood princes in ICC? Or the Blood Queen Lana'Thel?
Anyone know where the picture and possibly cutscene with Ner'Zhul in the iceblock? Never seen that before and hoping it's a cutscene I've not seen :)
ruclips.net/video/J2C_7QLwsnc/видео.html
do you know if you have to get the blades of the fallen prince first in order to find the Memories of Arthas? I pursued the Maw of the damned first and i can't get them to appear. i have seen them in the Beta with my frost DK, but my Blood DK can't find Arthas on the live servers.
B Ledger Not 100% sure, I know that as you level you can get the chance to go back and get the other artifacts. By the time you are 110 you should have every artifact that your class can get.
Mighty Madge I already got The Blades Of The Fallen Prince, and Arthas isn't appearing. That's why i'm so confused.
B Ledger Fair enough. Not sure what the problem is, I'd suggest contacting a GM and getting it resolved.
Any ideas of the hidden appearance for these weapons? They are called Dark Runeblade, the item you get for them is called 'Runes of the Darkening'. Its got some interesting tooltip text. But no player has obtained them yet, that we know of. I'm sure the answer and location to these are in the lore somewhere. Please help nobbel!
"I will keep the Scourge contained to Northrend"
Shouldn't Bolvar have been doing that all along just, oh I don't know, common decency at least? Like I thought the whole point of his pointless coronation was to contain the Scourge, but apparently he hadn't been doing that this whole time?
I find it conspicuous how much our new Lich King has retained the motives of Ner'zhul. The way he still fights against the legion, going through underhanded and downright evil means to do so. The way the echoes in the broken isles almost seem to be _warning_ you of "him." Almost as if you never really left "his" control.
For now this is just baseless speculation but _man_ the death knight story has me curious.
edit: _I think we've found our base._
r u gonna do videos for each artifact?
Still think Nobbel needs to do a Lore of Chris Metzen video... it's deserved
Can you do dark souls lore, its 100% speculation so you'll love it
giant dad is the creator of everything..done xD
With all these weapons they always say "A weapon with no equal" so I am curious as to what would happen if our weapons with "no equal" were to clash or something lore wise.
One small question could Frostmourne devour the soul of a nathrezim or did Mal'Ganis return to the twisting nether ?
Hey Nobbel, you know Nyhm? You got mentioned i his new rap-parody WoW song, WAR-LOCK! Funny stuff!
