      Hm, while true, that is optional, you didnt have to eradicate all of them, but well, you can, but heres a bit more to it, Wouldnt the horde appreciate Nazgrim back in the fray? You didnt kill many argent crusade and even benifited the highlord with power to cast aside the light of the ashbringer to darkness as a reascendance, your let back into orgrimmar and undercity so they arent skin of your back, and the scarlet crusade, well they hate everyone, so logically speaking, you aren't pissing off all the factions, though i cant make an excuse for the storm dragons, or the red dragonflight as a whole

      Kieran Chiddix I actually wonder if this isn't the throne Bolvar imagine to be seated. Kinda like how Arthas, during the "Arthas, Rise of the Lich King," was seated at a great table with his alter egos Ner'Zhul and Matthias Lehner. But who knows he could be in the newly decorated Halls of Reflections

    The line that The Lich King says: "You are empty inside. Just like me.". It got to me.
    I don't believe that Bolvar is in control one little bit any more. If he is, he is corrupted beyond recognition and I hardly think that you can call him Bolvar anymore. (I kinda felt the same way about Arthas, but you know)
    Although, all this clears things up about some things. For instance, why would the Knights of the Ebon Blade ever had been allowed to go 'independent' from the Lich King? Maybe Arthas' control was slipping more than anyone realized (maybe even more than he realized). This could be the reason of some of the events in Wrath. Perhaps Bolvar's strength is making the Lich King stronger. (if we choose to see the Lich King as more of a concept/spirit possessing people)
    I am fairly certain that prior in the lore it is stated that the intelligent subjects of the Lich King could have their intelligence taken away from them and they would become mindless slaves to the Scourge. I am fairly certain that there is an example of it, provided that this has not been retconned. I am quite certain that this could happen whether they joined willingly as necromancers or they were reanimated into the armies of the Scourge.
    Why did Arthas not do this when the Ebon Blade left the Scourge and started fighting against him?

    • @freyrTV
      @freyrTV 7 лет назад +26

      Well, Arthas wanted the heroes to come to him so he could claim the most powerful people on azeroth as his own. Giving the knights of the ebon blade their "freedom" would just be a part in his plan to achieve that goal, as it led to the attack on icecrown. Arthas didnt expect Tirion to break his icecube and shatter Frostmourne however, so the plan fell to pieces. This leads me to believe that the knights of the ebon blade's freedom is an illusion, like the memory of Arthas says, and that the control Arthas had was in fact passed to Bolvar when he donned the Helm of Damnation. This fits thematically too, given how we seem to "retrace" Arthas footsteps from wc3; picking up Frostmourne (for us the remains of it), and having The lich king (for us Bolvar, for Arthas Ner'zhul) talking to and guiding us telepathically while still maintaining the belief that we are in control, just like Arthas did. It seems to me we are being more and more corrupted as well, given how we can purge the last offspring of the red dragonflight. I certainly hope Blizzard doesnt force DK's to become LK though, that would be redicolous.

  • @noodlespoo
    @noodlespoo 7 лет назад +3

    I don't really like quests like these because they imply a lot of consequences, which, of course, don't appear ingame.
    Basically, the Deathlord would either be hunted down by Alex and the Red dragonflight or transported in time by Chromie and left there.
    Also, behaviour like this would seriously lower the DKs' reputation among other Orders. The campaign against the Lich King took place not *too* long ago and the scars are not easily forgotten. Heroes and leaders of Azeroth may decide that it's better to wipe out Acherus right after the Legion's defeat rather than face another Scourge.

  • @Doomshade
    @Doomshade 7 лет назад +2

    DKs are so epic, i love the story they got. Ever since wrath, they were just kinda there. Now, we have the lich king back, all the leaders of ebon hold are pretty much his slaves, and the death lord is basically a semi arthas. Love it, and I love this video, thanks nobbel!

      I'm not slaughtering any innocent Reds for any reason, my choice is made
      jesus edited it and didn't even put in a reply to the 2nd half of the comment lol sorry, well i think you are right there, if anything happens i think Bolvar the Paladin will win over The Lich King in his mind, he doesn't have the same path of corruption as Arthas/Ner'Zhul he was a martyr and chose to crown himself which i think means he does have a good portion of free will over the split personality he clearly has, i just hope they don't add him in some dungeon patch as a mini boss because let's face it, theres no one to take his place that wouldn't cause the fan base(s) to rip their respective dicks off and be up in arms on the forums "waaaa why did you kill my favorite character just to make him the new lich king waaa" personally i'm excited about the theory that the next hearthstone xpac is going to be based on Northrend/Bolvar all evidence points to it as a definite but i guess......

      I thought Ner'Zhul is dead? If I remember correctly there was a passage in the novel of the Lich King where it was described a battle in the mind of the Lich King and Athras killed Ner'Zhul in this battle and became the true Lich King himself? Or maybe I got it wrong ?

    • @user-yk9kh3xu5s
      @user-yk9kh3xu5s 7 лет назад +11

      No, you got the novel correctly, but some things aren't adding up, suggesting the old orc might've tricked Arthas into believing he was done for, or, in a gradnder scheme, that Arthas' will was his own. Of course, this is a speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.
      Firstly, the helmet itself wasn't anything more than a vessel of Ner'zhul's spirit and power (so its no One Ring with a will on its own), so if Arthas had consumed the orc, the Helmet wouldn't be corrupting on its own, yet look at the Bolvar now (to the degree of attacking the Reds and the Light's Hope Chapel - the latter speaking volumes on its own).
      Secondly, "Bolvar" was dormant all that time Azeroth was about to be f**ked up, yet the moment an enemy that is somehow personal to the Ner'zhul (KJ, Gul'dan and the Legion) showed up, he took an immediate interest in it, going as far as allying with the Deathknights. Surely, Bolvar wouldn't want to see the world destroyed either, but the timing is somehow curious, especially when DWing was waging a war in his domain back in Cataclysm.
      Thirdly - Uther suggested it was "a piece of Arthas" that held the LK back from attacking the Azeroth, but if "piece of Arthas" wasn't as dead as it was in a novel (and we can actually meet that "piece" in-game), then why NZ, as powerful and wise as he is, with the ability to see the future, would fall a victim to some bratty prince will? Also, note that at his deathbead we clearly see Arthas, not LK-Arthas, but the regretful prince Arthas lying in his father's arms, suggesting whatever lingered in the helmet was subjugating him to its will.
      Lastly, there's small things here and there: the voice - both that part of his farewell to Tirion, and his current voice, note how he sounds EXACTLY the same as LK Arthas, despite being a different person underneath. Also, there's one curious interaction outside of WoW, in HoTS to be exact: there when Gho'gall sees The Lich King he says "Ner'zhul?! No... someone else?" - if it was *just* Arthas in there, I don't think the ogre would've recognized him.

    _With how far we're getting as a Death Knight, I won't be surprised if in a while from now we soon become able to take on the role of the leaders of our factions._
    _Like, we could go from Deathlord... to being the NEW Lich King._
    _And maybe they could have the dormant state do a time-skip like they did with the Demon Hunters, so when we do awaken as the new Lich King, it'll be several years after we overthrew Bolvar~_
    _I'd adore that, and imagine if they did similar things with the other classes? Maybe depending on if you're more aligned with the Horde or Alliance, you could later become the leaders of Stormwind or Orgrimmar?_

    As a DK-alt player, I personaly dont like the path Bolvar is taking us, as I want my character to seek redemption, therefore I havent killed a single Red Dragon during the mount quest.
    BUT, I do love that Blizzard is taking this questline as a HUGE plot point for both DKs and dragons, it makes me afraid for the consequences and where will DKs go from here, that is if Blizzard actually follows up this story with some actual consequence.

    In reality if we are just tools of the Lich King I must agree he has a plan, otherwise he would've taken Acherus by now. Maybe with Argus it will be just that, in an effort to slay the one who had Kil'Jaden create the "Lich King" in the first place, but what then? Are we ever truly free or are we forced to serve and given the decency of not being mindless slaves to his will. Very many ways this could go and I would love to see all of them. Great vid BTW : D

    Something just occurred to me. What happened to Arthas' body? Was it burned? If not, can't Bolvar just raise Arthas as his minion? We raised Darion, who had died for the second time, so couldn't Bolvar do the same thing with Arthas?

    As someone who's been maining death knight since wrath, I am really happy with what they are doing with the class, I feel like we are having storylines not just tied up, but new ones created to draw you in further to the class. I also have a speculation that with archerus so close to the death of the broken shore, bolvar is planning on resurrected all the dead there.

    Plot Twist (illidan-like) Arthas was just collecting powerful objects/artifacts and trying to bolster his army with us, the champions he sought to revive after 1-shotting us just to form a barricade for the legion and possibly fight back. I mean... we fought two dudes who already defied the legion. We are already proven we did wrong about one. Its Blizzard. Who knows.
    p.s. searching would bring him to Illidan which from that duel they had they would become partners out of need because same enemy. Illidan the frontliner with his DHs and himself and Arthas the backup plan and army bolstering to Illidans army. Since.. well, undeads/DKs are kinda imune to mind control from the legion(i guess, dont know for sure) and DHs already know how to resist it.

    I love the direction they're taking with Bolvar. Because to me, the Lich King was always a schemer, especially in WC3 where he had everything planned out perfectly, and even in WotLK he played all his cards right, if it hadn't been for Tirion/Light ex machina (TWICE! might I add). So seeing him taking the backseat in all this makes me giddy he's gonna make some grand entrance later on being all like "Ho ho ho, travelers! I see you found the pillars of creation I'll be taking those now thanks" and then doing some unholy nonsense with them. Or something like that.

    Is it possible that the Lich King is its own seperate entity, and that the host's personality is drowned out? Looking at some of the Lich King's dialogue from Wrath it's certainly a possibility ("He is merely a ghost now. A fain echo within my mind." - "I was once a shaman.")
    Whatever the case, Bolvar definitely has his own, likely more sinister plans in mind.

    Who was The Lich King talking about when he said you are under HIS will and your life is in HIS hands. Was it Ner'zul? This quest line just made me think that Bolvar is not in control anymore

  • @edwardness7497
    @edwardness7497 7 лет назад

    Bolvar seems more devious than Arthas was... Arthas was bent on control, Bolvar seems more a manipulator, allowing a sense of self control but at any moment could (and likely will) reveal it all as a lie, Bolvar has played a silent but evident part in the Legion, giving information, teaching maybe but not so much orders per say, the Ebon Blade seems ready to carry out the will of the Lich King but because they want to, not because they are forced to, Bolvar also saying with the Feat of Strength that you are as empty as he is further confirms the corruption that he has fallen into, though I see him perhaps becoming similar to Illidan in the long term, both the Lich King and Illidan were tools of the Legion, Illidan has turned these powers against his masters always having his own mind while following orders of the Legion with ulterior motives, the Lich King was a servant of the Legion but broke free with the power of Frostmourne though the world had a vendetta against Arthas, now that Bolvar is the Lich King he may follow Illidan's path...

    8:29 who knows, they haven't always been consistent with who the final boss of an expansion is going to be based on how it starts or at least what to expect from said final boss.
    BC advertised Illidan but ended with Kale and Kil'jaden. Mists of Pandaria seemed up in the air but how many people really knew it would end as it did with an Old God empowered Garrosh. Warlords tried to make us think Guldan was out of the picture early and that Hellscream would be the big bad (did u even fight him at all?) but boom Final boss Archimonde.
    Does this expansion end at Tomb of Sargeras? They may throw a new curve ball, they've hinted at plenty of stuff.

    It was inevitable, one way or another, the Lich King gave death knights their life, brought them into existence, and despite the hatred, he will always be a sort of a father-figure, even if they themselves will not admit it.
    Plus, as the image of Arthas from frost artifact hidden effect says,- ''you imagine yourself free'' ''you will always be his instrument''.
    In the end, you cannot deny the purpose your were created for to begin with, the one thing that drives them - being a ruthless killing machine. They are despised by all of living, belong nowehere else but the one place LK resides in, how long could any of em keep going like it, caged like rabid animals.

  • @mightyraptor01

    Do you think Bolvar just hated red dragons after they scarred him of his fate? Because you gotta remember the "wrath gate scene" he would of died from plague bombs but was able hold on just for the red dragons to show up and to stop the plague gas from spreading and when he got burned and later he ended up of the top of IceCrown then was on the throne during the fall of the former lich king, Arthas.
    I guess he was looking for revenge after his what you call now a cruse, and maybe he wanted revenge and have someone else do the dirty work, and now red dragons are screwed. Maybe not I dunno but DKs just doing what they want just like the
    Warlocks.
