Nah the issue with shadowlands is they had an original story fleshed out and for some reason last minute changed everything. I’m still convinced the original story would be that the primus was the real jailer and zoval would have somehow set us free from this belief and then we’d fight the Primus. Cause there was so much foreshadowing that made it look like Primus was supposed to be the big bad hell even the statement he never lost a battle unless he wanted to to learn something

But both had the same vision of trying to conquer Azzeroth world soul to use it against the Void Lords, same goes to Void lords purpose to corrupt azzeroth with their childs the *old gods*
I think an interesting twist would be something like this: Xal'atath is not an old god. She's a portion of Azeroth's soul, corrupted during the rule of the old gods and cut from her greater self by the Titans like a surgeon using a scalpel to cut away rot. They used a metaphysical dagger to slice away at Azeroth's soul, which then becomes her prison, the actual dagger we know. It's Xal'atath's voice we and the other heros hear, and her grand plan is to be reunited with the rest of her greater soul.
Xal'atath = The One Ring basically. Bringing the way to the Void / bringing the way for the Dark Lord Sauron. Hopping from person to person using them as necessary.
The biggest mystery out there is how did the Black Blade, with Xal'atath still trapped inside, get out of my bank vault? Excellent lore video as always Bellular.

Zul saw all of that, he knew he is going to fail, so why do it anyway? Becouse that set wrathion in the path. One of his dialog wich seems a funny joke was "I have seen a lot of important events, and you were in all of them. how curious" "I have seen how to worlds end" And in his defeat he said "Wait... Xal'atath's Story is very interesting given what little information and background we got from her. Always a Villain with a plan to bring forth the black empire anew and the void itself.
I hope Xal'atath survives the War Within. We need more long-running villains since we've killed so many of them over the years. I feel like the only OG ones left are Azshara and kind of Sargeras (though he's currently out of commission).
Earliest I've ever been for an upload I think lol. So excited for more lore and stuff. And definitely excited as well for them to keep making actual sensible story like with DF compared to Shadowlands lol.
I'm in the camp that is hoping that Xal is NOT an old god, but something new. Her role as the harbinger implies (to me at least) that her purpose is more important than that of the old gods, who I view as less so 'gods' but more like biological weapons dropped to prepare for the arrival of the real denizens of the void. Kind of like the Kaiju in pacific rim.
You know what? I think I need a 3h video that explains the whole lore from the beginning, with cinematics and cutscenes and shit, because most of the scenes in this video I've never seen in game. I feel like I've missed a lot with what you can only know in books, or learn in raids.
Thank you because I had no idea about all that. I've missed parts, I think it may be because I don't do raids. I do remember the dagger in the hands of Wrathion. I wonder, what did it do to him? Is there something we still don't know.
The Irish are the best storytellers and, Michael, you proved that in this video (as in your others). Thank you for putting everything in perspective and making the storyline clear!
Well, if getting Dimensius into reality and to Azeroth is the goal then Midnight being centered around the elves in Quel'thalas makes sense. Assuming the Sunwell is to be made a portal again. Why not, it's successfully been used as one before. Can't wait to play this saga trilogy.
I think she will be a better villain than the last few since, like Garrosh, she has been built up over several expansions instead of just appearing out of the blue like the last two.
if we interpret the wording on that naga prophecy as literally as 'dark heart' is a literal item--it straight tells us Azshara went to zereth umbra--beyond the veil of space itself--became an Eternal one--or at least stole the power of one. We do already know there's a sea portion amid the hallowfall zone sieged by horrors...surely hers are one of them, even if she doesn't necessarily return until the void wins and midnight falls. meanwhile, alleria is just a vessel for the void lords to get to Quel'thalas...which she literally scouted for them when she visited it--they already told us we're returning there...wonder why
I'd love it if you started putting sources for info in your lore videos. This is all really interesting lore, but I've never heard of Xal'atath being wielded in the War of Three Hammers.
N'zoth is still alive in other timelines, we only killed him in one timeline. The DF questline with Chromie confirms this. And with the Old God's presence being in all possible timelines, it is likely that we are far from done with them. Hell, they can easily drag Azq'roth into the mix with this.
I wonder if Y'Shaarj will tie into this somehow. It's for sure no coincidence that Mists of Pandaria had a scenario called DARK HEART of Pandaria. There's for sure some important lore to be found in the remix of Pandaria.
I skipped most of DF, not because I thought it was bad, but i life happened and wanted to play other games more but... Damn iridikron looks so fucking cool in his non dragon form. And xalatath is one of the coolest characters theyve written so far, I always love the schemers. Hope they really stick the landing though.
I love how she is portrayed thus far, she is slimy, sweet talking her subjects into evil, which is rather realistic. They might even believe that what they do is for a good cause, while they serve a dark master.
You know I am not sure her third death will actually kill her, it could be a reference to her losing her void based ability’s, she did consume a Naaru on the cusp of becoming a void lord if not already one. I bet you she will be a driving force for the unification of the elves in midnight.
"at the hour of her 3rd death she will usher in our coming". Could refer to Alleria, but her saying she feels like she died twice already feels a bit off imo. Could be Xalatath, Sylvanas, or even Azshara. Many of these characters have gone through transformations such as death and rebirth, and some much more literally. Id be curious to see how this goes down.
According to the Halls of Stone dungeon, the old gods and Azeroth are in a symbiotic parasitic relationship. If we kill the old gods, we also kill Azeroth. Which would explain why they were previously imprisoned instead of killed.
A dark heart left broken awaits the taking, is definitely the Heart of Y'Shaarj at the end of siege of org. Most likely, why we're getting MoP remix. In retail and they aren't waiting for MoP classic to bring MoP back.
If Blizzard was smart they'd have Xal'atath pull a galaxy brain move and say something along the lines of "I have stood beside you as you killed gods you had no right to destroy, I know just how foolish it is to stand against you, I will not be like them, I will not fall at your hands. Instead I will give you an offer, embrace the void and become my champions." setting her up as a villain that's smart enough to recognize the threat the champions present and deciding to turn that to her advantage, and creating a new faction for the players to fight amongst themselves with, in wake of the truce between the horde and the alliance. No more Horde vs. Alliance factions, just players choosing in a fight of the light vs the void. sides that anyone can choose regardless of race or allegiance.
That sounds cool and would likely be fun, but that would be very hard to justify why a servant of the void would just be running around Stormwind or Orgrimmar freely. Not to mention that once the Light vs Void story does eventually end or fade back into the background, its not going to really make sense anymore. Id honestly just love to have it where any race can choose to just pledge which faction they want to join.
Im sorry I dont understand, galaxy braun move is that she says she knows she will lose SO she gives us a chance to become one with void? How does that even proceed with story lol who stops her? Fully kills the story and would players still fight her but not every player ? So raid but not everyone can participate ? Thats sounds more boring and worse then jailer/zovaal and that says alot
@@ShinoMachida I mean, we wouldn't fight her, that would be the point, she's not that kind of villain. Instead she'd pit us against each other, she'd not be a pve boss, but a pvp faction leader.
The Void and it's forces exist outside of time and reality as we know it, correct? I can't believe I'm just now thinking of it, but if if Xal'atath is the embodiment of the void-corrupted version of Azeroth? It really kinda fits. Who better to know how to corrupt Azeroth with the void than herself? She also takes the form of an (void) elf, one of the playable races that are wholly native to Azeroth.
She is in the timelines collecting old gods and stuff dark hear...like the old god heart drom pandaria the one we are sbout to " re experience from a different perspective" huh neat

All this background info and lore spanning the entirety of azeroth and then... 25:19 "the shadow lands expansion happened" I love it 😂
Well, if getting Dimensius into reality and to Azeroth is the goal then Midnight being centered around the elves in Quel'thalas makes sense. Assuming the Sunwell is to be made a portal again. Why not, it's successfully been used as one before. Can't wait to play this saga trilogy.
This is one of the greatest lore videos ever done ✔️ 👏
thanks for the recap, I had forgotten about a third of that
I needed this. ❤
Ur background music for most of this one is on point
I think she will be a better villain than the last few since, like Garrosh, she has been built up over several expansions instead of just appearing out of the blue like the last two.
They seem to be channeling The Silver Surfer too, that could be extremely interesting...
Here to support the cause!
if we interpret the wording on that naga prophecy as literally as 'dark heart' is a literal item--it straight tells us Azshara went to zereth umbra--beyond the veil of space itself--became an Eternal one--or at least stole the power of one.
Damn, that's very interesting! I am not going to play the expansion, but I will follow the story.
very very good job bel
I'd love it if you started putting sources for info in your lore videos. This is all really interesting lore, but I've never heard of Xal'atath being wielded in the War of Three Hammers.
According to Wowpedia, Xal'atah's backstory is in "Word of the Conclave", a book at the Netherlight Temple.
Another great job of Bellular team💪🏼👌🏼
These videos are very good and interesting. Thank you.
I skipped most of DF, not because I thought it was bad, but i life happened and wanted to play other games more but...
Damn iridikron looks so fucking cool in his non dragon form.
And xalatath is one of the coolest characters theyve written so far, I always love the schemers. Hope they really stick the landing though.
i ended up really getting into the lore thanks to videos like this one :~)
good video. i appreciate a round-up every now and then.
I bet you she will be a driving force for the unification of the elves in midnight.
isnt it crazy how Xalatath says we'll meet again while N'zoth was planning to take over the planet? It's like she knew he was gonna fail
greatly done, thx
Probably the best new antagonist we've had for years. She's mysterious, powerful, manipulative, and sexy.
Kinda cool the mix the Season of Discovery with retail... maybe a way to undo the whole Shadowlands stuff? Like both games timelines fuse together?
Xalatath is so cool... wish i cared about Dragonflight even just a little bit. Didn't understand that portion of the story at all
love the story / lore videos!!! great work - thanks :)
so xalatath dagger is basically the ring from LoTR and the void is sauron
A dark heart left broken awaits the taking, is definitely the Heart of Y'Shaarj at the end of siege of org. Most likely, why we're getting MoP remix. In retail and they aren't waiting for MoP classic to bring MoP back.
The names of these characters just get harder and harder, or maybe I'm just getting old
Also, don't screw with the Windrunner family. It never happens ends well.
thanks for uploading! otherwise I couldn't have made a connection.
@@D3th10rd Simple, outside of pvp they work in secret.
Instead she'd pit us against each other, she'd not be a pve boss, but a pvp faction leader.
awesome vid! a lore mini bible xD keep going michael
Great job on this one
I love this channel.
This was great thank you!
Getting the feeling xalatath about to pull a sylvannas at the end of the expansion
She is in the timelines collecting old gods and stuff dark hear...like the old god heart drom pandaria the one we are sbout to " re experience from a different perspective" huh neat
Excellent video. For the algorithm!!!!
These are dope af time to watch DF now
Xal'laciously good.
Dark Heart....Pandara Time running....Y'shaarj 's Heart
no doubt there's some reference there, but the purple disc they powered up (the anti-dragon soul or whatever) is called the dark heart
