Believe it or not, I probably would have not been aware of the Genuine G400c if it hadn't been for Cleveland Moto's video. I will say this. I'm enthused about these classic style bikes. I'd love to see this, the new Benelli Imperiale 400, and the CSC Cafe racer in person. Oh and the Royal Enfield Interceptor! Oh and that Honda GB 500?! Phew Japanese perfection.
Funny, but I have seen the Shineray (OEM) XY400 on the EPA/DOT certification list a couple, or three, years back when this bike was teased by Genuine. However, I have not seen it listed lately. I have friends who have dealt with Shineray in the past, and all have said they are difficulty to deal with, so I would not be surprised that Shineray was the reason this bike took so long to get here. Also on their certificate was their dual sport model (manufacturers will often have several models listed on their certificate based around the same engine) which I would be more interested in. Shineray also have a sidecar model of the G400, but cannot remember if that was one of the models listed on the EPA/DOT certificate. If Genuine would bring in all three models, they would have a trifecta of higher quality, larger engine sized Chinese bikes available here. I am glad to see this bike actually available as evidenced by this video!
Just saw one at Scooterville in Minneapolis. It makes this old guy think about getting back into motorcycles from scooters.
I had a Genuine buddy for 5 years. It was a great, high quality scooter.
Keep up the great videos, they are a great addition to the podcasts and it's nice to see some decent videos on the more obscure end of the market.
That's a hansom little bike! NICE! If it's 1/3 as good as the buddy it's a winner, if its AS good as the buddy.. that's a keeper!
The green looks great! Seems like a better deal than the Yamaha 400cc.
Well done man! Super pumped for them to get to NS4L!
Well done video, Phil!
Awesome video Phil! Very thorough.
Very informative. In the Philippines it's sold by Motorstar company and known as the Cafe 400
This bike fills an under served niche.
I wish more modern bikes had the Universal Japanese Motorcycle look. I am tired of sport bikes covered in plastic. Ugh.
I have been waiting for this Shineray bike to make it to the States. I will be very curious to see if they made any improvements to the gearbox on this engine. The Shineray X2/X5 400 used this same or similar motor and had problems with second gear failing.
How difficult will it be to find parts for this bike in the future? Does it happen to share parts with any other manufacturer?
How would you rate the G400 against a V7 Moto Guzzi?
I'm looking to get a lighter motorcycle than my current Kawasaki W650 and this just might be it. I especially like the fuel injection and 4-valve head design. Is it a copy of one of the Japanese 400cc single cylinder engines? Do you plan to take this bike to the IX Center motorcycle show during 1-25 to 1-27? If so, please take one of each color so I can see it under the bright lights.
That would look nice with a sidecar.
Is this a good choice for a beginner to motorcycles?
I bought it for my first bike back in February. It's so much fun!!! And very easy with the starter and EFI
Did you realize its the same bike as the mash five hundred? Only Details like indicators are a Bit Different.
Bring it to Germany !!!!
*The 'Honda' manual is complete, in English for the U.S. market, and covers virtuallyeverything having to do with the specific machine you bought...including the "Metropolitan" scooter...so what 'other brands' are you talking about?*( *Why throw makers like 'Tao-Tao' and other Chinese 'parts is parts' manufacturers into the mix like they 'define' anything?* )
It needs an upgrade to tubeless tires.
Good to see you have moved past your feelings about Chinese products.
$4,600. Pass
poor audio!
Yeah, we've got a better rig now.
Rebadged Mash. Nothing new to see here.
