A small tip. Change the small allen key engine bolt at the starter side for the honda oem part with slotted head screw. The deep sunken allen key is prone of breaking.
Excellent DIY video! As a motorcyclist (I don't like the word "biker" because I also ride bicycles.) since the mid-60's, I've ridden all sizes and styles of scooters (yes, the original Lambretta, Vespa, Rabbit, Cushman, etc.) and motorcycles (2-stroke, 4-stroke, twingles, inline twins and fours, V-twins, V-4's, etc.) and I love them all. Now that I don't flirt with tractor trailers on the interstates anymore, this motorcycle really appeals to me. It looks like the classic Triumph's with the dual exhausts. I'm going to visit my nearest dealership soon for a test ride, weather permitting here in the Mid-Atlantic. Please make a video on the transmission oil change, maintenance, lubes necessary, etc. I'm presuming it will be similar to the HD Sportster. Thanks again. I'm wishing you a very long and successful run on this motorcycle!
This is the Shineray YMQ185 engine. S.W.M. bikes use a very similar one (YMQ 190) but overbored to 445.3 cc and fitted with an oil cooler, no kickstart. The oil change procedure is similar, but they recommend just running the engine for a few minutes before filling the rest of the oil into the tank (1.5L first, the rest after, 2.7L total). Quite a lot of oil!
@@michaelluciano1980 In an Italian S.W.M. facebook group I'm a member of, there are owners of 2016-2018 models with 30.000 km. I'd say it's too early to tell, since these are relatively "new" bikes. The engines themselves proved quite reliable mechanically. Most reported problems were due to the ECU (especially Euro 4 models, before 2020, with Athena ECUs) and TPS adjustments. Mine is a 2022 model with a Delphi MT05.3 ECU, going strong at 7000km and daily use
@@michaelluciano1980BTW, the engines themselves are pretty much a clone of the Honda XR400 RFVC engine, although with enhancements such as overboring, and in 2022+ models, a six-speed gearbox.

I have 100 miles on my G 400 and I noticed there was some oil residue on the bottom of the engine and some on the black frame underneath; doesn’t appear to be leaking -not sure how it got there. Any idea? Maybe from dealer setup Luv the Bike!!
great video! Tried to do the same by my self but that screws .... one got broken :( In the end process is very simple and quick just like on the video. Bike is great but this aluminum casing and bolts make me so nervous every time :D Wish there was a torque instructions for every screw :DD
What oil do you use/recommend for this bike? The manual is fairly vague on if it needs full synthetic or conventional. Also 15w40 is hard to find it seems! Would K&N 10w-40 (MA-2) be fine?
The G400c oil change is easily accomplished as demonstrated in the video but look at the side of that seat. Five hundred miles on this bike, Ken says. I like the classic lines, the size, the reputation of the company, and the price of this bike. Maybe it's just the lighting in the shop but those apparent marks are a concern.
This is late, I know, but they are stickers. However, if you remove them, there's a perimeter line of what I can only imagine is a level of clearcoat or some other paint protection. You'll definitely see a sticker-shaped divot if you make my mistake and remove them. =/
Well, how much oil the engine contains? I can't clearly understand it. On my Shineray 400, there is a sticker on the engine which says 2.4 liters. I guess that 2.4 l - is too much, but i can't understand what is the real quantity of oil i have to fill in it?

I've heard it said by one of your vendors (Cleveland Moto) that this bike is strongly related/derived from the Honda CB400SS. If so, is that model a reliable parts analog for things like oil filters, upgrade parts, etc?
@Gary Russ Go check the Honda CB 400 SS, you will see, it's the same engine frame the lot. apart from now Injection, and different pipes, go have a good look, they also did a CL high pipe version, plus this is coming soon. autotimesnews.com/news/french-flat-tracker-mash-dirt-track-650-2019-debuted/
Cb400ss, gb400, gb500, xr400, nx650 dominator, all in all the same as the shineray xy400 and 650 engines used for the Chinese bikes. Same factory, different casts and decals.
Poland it' s romet, asia Stallions, France and UK Mash, good bike, and is really a old Honda design. I own the scrambler version, and I like it, Light, fast enough for me, old skool riding postion, simple to maintain, easy to ride, 80 to 85 MPH.
Looked through all the comments, and I don't see one of the most important topics; the oil! The manual specifies "JASO MA2 15w/40". That is NOT a very common oil weight. I see Shell Rotella comes in that weight, would that be a good oil for this bike? I can't see the brand in the video - looks like "Dradgons" maybe??
Sir, should you trust your customer that much? I don't think it's too much to expect that your customers have a torque wrench. Nowadays one could be had for $20. You have good finesse, but your customer might not be so sensitive with a impact drill-driver. Elsewhere on youtube, I saw someone impact driver a bolt down into a Ruckus, three times. The first two weren't enough. Sure it was stripped, but at least it wasn't mine.
I have a buddy kick and love it but the warranty, customer service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! Do not expect them to take care of you! Once they have your money, they wash their hands of you!
I bought a standard G400c and converted it to a scrambler easy enough. High side pipe via FMF header pipes from Honda X-R 400 (muffler shop welded the seams for $100) then a muffler of choice and taller rear suspension then knobby dual sport tires and away I went! Little tweaks here and there like wider/taller handle bars etc, been riding it hard on/off road for 3 years now with no problems! Cheers!
The only thing I would recommend is using aluminium foil to cover the exhaust pipe or any area where oil may leak on the bike.
Tightening the shifter bolt (10mm) every oil change will prevent surprise shifter issues. Love the bike.
True. I have this bike. My shifter fell off at a stop light recently, lol.
@@jfriesen39 I use a pressure washer for that bolt, problem solved

That’s a fun quirk about the bike interesting oil change and placement of the tank etc.

When you check the oil and when you change the oil can you just put it on the kickstand or do you have to level the bike?
