    Just a quick update I bought my G400 4 years ago and inspired by this video in part decided to go all in on a scrambler daily commuter and absolutely could not be happier! Fantastic bike, easy to work on, easy to maintain, bomb proof reliable performance. I’m one happy customer!!

    • @nathandalleave252
      @nathandalleave252 Месяц назад

      @@user-bp6cg5md3w it has a kickstarter on the right side, I turn the key to the on position, pull in the clutch and slowly turn the kickstarter with my foot till i feel the compression resistance, then give it a nice healthy kick! helps if you stand on the foot peg with your left foot to get some height. if the battery is low but it has a little juice left you can push the starter button while you kick to give it some help and it always starts right up!

Fast/fun riding aside, I totally agree this is a much better choice than ANY vintage offering for a DD. I would choose the KLR to your left for the same(ish) price, but I already did the vintage thing in the early 90's so it's out of my system. Cheers.

    In Europe it's called Mash, Romet & Jawa.
    Same engine.
    My Mash TT40, also a 400 has a honda CB400SS exhaust from aliexpress.
    It fits quite wel.. Except the flanges were reversed.
    Had to cut a bit out to fit. Welded in a bung for the sensor and it fitted.
    Used one of the original mufflers. Just had to remove the graphite seal.
    Sounds better then the one delivered with it.
    That one sounded like a diesel with a leaky exhaust.

    CMC motorcycles in Malaysia is one of many versions of this bike sold all over the world under a different name.
    They have dual pea shooter exhaust headers if you are into this bikes and want a dual exhaust. Check em out.
    I have this in a cafe racer here in Australia where they are sold as elstar sol invictus or brapp motorcycles.
    They’re are called Crosby in sth africa, Mash in Europe, Motostar in the Phillipines and obviously CMC motorcycles in Malaysia.
    So there is heaps of parts and custom options out there if you import them and they’re cheap too.

    Distributed as Motor Star in the Philippines they are a step down in fit and finish, but share the same Honda clone engine and overall look. What you have to understand about Chinese business is that there are probably in any specific "brand" several factories making parts, engines under expired patents and the parent company just makes any price point within reason depending on the buyer. Motor Star for example is a Philippine company that sets the spec and re-badges them in the Philippines, Zongshen, and Loncin do the same under Both motor Star and Rusi re-badgers here. Just because Shineray is the manufacturer of record does not guarantee any specific level of quality. Buyer beware.

  • @bartbuntsma9588

    Mash 400 scrambler is a Honda CB400SS (Japan only) clone. Look for pictures of these two and try to spot the difference. Other than minor superficial differences on the engine and the exhaust, these two are identical, even in the weldings on the frame. By the way, the engine is a Honda-derivative that Shineray is licensed to build by Honda ... As far as I'm concerned, SIMA is merely an import company who buys the bike from Shineray (much like Genuine in the States), and at most orders their own styling-details and paintjob with it. Being a european importer, SIMA (resp. Genuine in the States) set minimum standards for Shineray with regards to quality control. I don't think your history of SWM has very much to do with the development this particular Mash/Genuine 400 cc model, but rather with the way Shineray as a company came to be.

    • @ClevelandMoto
      @ClevelandMoto  Год назад

      The bike is manufactured by Shineray to equipment specifications for the US market established by Genuine. It has a wider rear wheel / tire, different suspension, larger chain, different exhaust, different lighting and several other changes for the US/Canada/Mexico market.

    I like the looks of this home-built, but unbaffled pipes are antisocial. Mash's Scrambler is a much more thorough build and it's for sale.
    There's nothing dark, convoluted, or mysterious about the history of the Shineray XY400. Honda used to have a model in Japan called the CB400SS. That's what this bike is. The two bikes vary only in paint scheme and the fact that in some markets, like the EU and the US, the Shineray has EFI. In other countries it has a Chinese-built copy of the Keihin carb used on the Honda. I did read somewhere that Shineray used to build the CB400SS for Honda, but I couldn't substantiate that claim. Still, what we have here is a Honda CB400SS under a different name, which is a good thing.
    The British company CCM Motorcycles (Clews Competition Motorcycles) that Armstrong partnered with has no connection whatsoever with CCM the Canadian sports equipment manufacturer, I thought that was an amusing confusion.

    • @ClevelandMoto
      @ClevelandMoto  3 года назад +1

      Oh, there's nothing but confusion in this family tree. I couldn't find the Honda / Shineray connection anywhere, but many people keep bringing it up. I hope Genuine brings the Scramble to the USA, but I'd like to keep the bigger back wheel and better components we see on the USA model.

      @@charleshueckstaedt5064 Well you get what you pay for, finish of bolts could be better, spokes can start to show signs of going off quickly, WD40 helps to keep on top of it, I chose the Street scrambler because of the lack of chrome! less to worry about, I changed the original front light bulb to a halogen, but the same wattage, but I will replace the headlight soon for a 7 inch lucas, I can find the supplier if I dig in my bookmarks. I changed the spark plug to the next heat range down, found that helps with idle speed. Instrument bulbs need changing up to a higher wattage, I have them but not done that yet, the signal indicator light is rubbish in daylight with the bulbs that come with.
      I'm not knocking the bike, as I love it, old skool looks and riding experience, without the big outlay of money, If you want Bimota quality, then you need to pay Bimota money!
