I can't believe I'm still here watching after 10 years. Film Riot is awesome 👍
Film Riot had definitely managed to stand the rest of time. Their work and production value has evolved with the technology in film, and I find that absolutely awesome.
@@aduckwithayoutubechannel For sure man🙏
@@africaamaze Weesh... We've Met Here😁
Likewise!
@@i_mreed for sure man! 😂. Ryan has played a key role in my filmmaking stuff for close to 14 years now.
oh man, this is next level. It's so inspiring to see what we can achieve on a low budget now, and it makes me even more excited to watch your future projects using this technology. Been watching since i was 10yo, i'm 22 now. thank you Ryan 🙏🏼 hugs from France
Ryan, I think he just called you old.
(😉)
(Actually this is a beautiful comment)
@@sauce8277 ok boomer

@@user-zv7lm8uk7h and I am a millennial, not a boomer. 🙃
Man. Even though I am nowhere close to being able to get a set up like this, this is hands down the most exciting stuff I've seen from you guys. Quite literally the future of filmmaking right here and I'm loving every second of it
And me, im nowhere close to being able to use a set up like this, that why I would get someone that knows how to use it and then i be just directing and be the camera man hahaha.
Thanks for everything you do guys! I and everyone who’s a Film Riot fan are blessed to have you.
You are great 👍
You guys are real creatives. Creatives don’t know how not to create or keep learning about how things work. On top of that you are so gracious by summing it up and sharing it with us. Excellent teachers as well. You guys rock!
That camera calibration tool is sweet. Great video!
I love to see that while using the fancy expensive equipment, you mixed in the budget Aputure Amaran line lighting! I think there’s something amazing to be said about that! Great video. So crazy to see the world of filmmaking evolve so quickly. Keep up the great vids! It always makes my entire week when I get to watch you guys!
Moving into this workflow in my classes this coming semester. Thanks for this, Ryan! Keep them coming because I'm going to need them.
Thanks for showcasing more Unreal, it's been amazing seeing what you all do through trial and error and tutorials! The Mars kit looks fantastic, albeit that $5K is more prohibitive than the short-throw projector method for now! Hopefully there's more competitors or options with more seamless real-time compositing in the future
That went about a mile over my head, but what I understood was amazing. Thank you for making this video and sharing all the different elements that supported your work. Thanks.
I have to say. Ryan your tutorials are spot on, and Justin, you sir are a great actor. Great job as always guys.
Thank you!
You guys are the number 1 school, for indie filmakers since 2009! It is a pleasure to grow with you!
True.. I was here since 2009. More power Film Riot, love from Philippines
The level of stuff you guys are doing now is absolutely INSANE!
This is mad. Most of the time I have no idea what you're talking about but enjoying it none-the-less. So glad I hit subscribe a couple of years ago.
Very good, the Mars tracking system and how you've worked out how lock the UE and live footage absolutely solidly is a real step forward here. Hopefully we'll start to see the price of tracking systems coming down so that what's doable convincingly now on a semi-pro budget will be doable on a hobbyist budget. Nicely done! Some nice roto there as well.
I can't even explain how amazing this video is! Outstanding job Film Riot!😍😍🤩🤩
I remember watching Film Riot back in 2010. You'll have grown so much. It's beautiful.
Amazing!!! Thank you Ryan and Josh!!! Incredible work!
Super! Was waiting for someone to share something like this on Unreal for Production. Hope to see more as this was great!
I'd love it if you guys did some kind of pitch contest, the winner gets a sizzle made or something. You are always pushing the envelope and I love it.
Love the blackmagic love. From your description it looks like you've converted almost entirely to blackmagic cameras.
As a few people have pointed out the Mars system is a bit high. It would be interesting to see this setup tested with other vr tracking hardware to see how they hold up
Thanks for this, it’s brilliant and I appreciate the detailed breakdown!
that is awesome, actually the live view composure key out pretty decently. Thank you for making such great overview video
Thanks for the incredible explanations of the setup.
Amazing experience.. Since decades I been following you and I’ve learned a lots thanks 🙏
Thats the more realistic UE scene I've ever seen for sure. Nice job!
I learned so much from your channel. It’s informative and fun . Please keep up the the fantastic content
DSLR video shooter, Caleb has great solutions for your needs
Awesome as always. Thank you so much for the years of incredible education.
Awesome work as usual guys!
Very Sweet!! This is the best newbie approach video out there!!
*Thank you so much for this!!*
Super good Walk through and with sources extending the knowledge!!
Been watching you Ryan since you first started posting your videos. "You've come a long way baby." ; ) Your tutorial approach to filmography is awesome and unique.
Love these guys!!!! Awesome work!
That looks SOOO GOOOD!
Your evolution is remarkable!
yOU DIDNT EVEN TALK THAT MUCH about that tracking camera tool man...that was the most impresive thing in the whole video
this is exactly the solution to a problem I've been waiting to see a solution for. Live actors with unreal BG. This is so f'ing cool. psyched to see what you guys do with it
Great overview! The Vive system looks incredibly promising at, what I hope is, a reasonable price point.
This is so cool! I hope one day we’ll be able to do stuff like this without all the expensive gear.
Weird that this video just uploaded. I literally just organically discovered this whole thing today while looking for a police station set here in LA. There’s a studio in Burbank that does this unreal engine thing and I’d never heard of it. I thought it was goofy, but you guys made it look sick as hell!
The fact that you can do this is so cool I wanna cry 😭😎
You guys are what inspire me.
You guys are freaking amazing!
Wow, Unreal Engine looks so intuitive!!
i would love to see this vid's opening scene as a short film. It was so intriguing.
Wow. This is extensive, but it's crazy that this is now feasible by indie film makers today. Still not cheap but definitely way more reachable. Amazing stuff👍🏼
I'll be working at a lead virtual production studio this summer and I can't wait to learn using this technology.
This is actually amazing!
Numba 1!!! Great content, nice sound design. Production cart: Inovativ!
Thanks guys! Love y'all.
Wow, amazing! Pretty game changing
Phenomenal. It's really great you showed whole workflow and equipment. It's Amazing this stuff finally works and it's not mega studio budget constraints. Kudos. Continued Success.
This video is underrated, commenting again because it’s that good, you essentially demystified virtual production rn
Underrated? It came out an hour ago
@@ReconMalfunction you’re right, that wasn’t the right word, what I meant to say is that the quality of this video is in contrast with the casual presentation of it (like it’s no big deal), it’s more valuable than it seems at first
DSLR Video shooter has a great video on making gear carts for the office!
Intro - wow! Blowing mind!
this is what is needed! dont bring the realism in movies, make the experience real!!
Well done! This is very inspirational!
This is insane! So cool
This is incredible! Everything FilmRiot does, they do it better.
Thanks!
Not sure I learned that well, but... I'm Glad I van learn from you guys. 🖤
That was beyond epic
Film riot never disappoints
Wow, so impressive. Thanks for sharing!
Love your work always this is truly inspiring! I have joined since 10 years ago and I am now 32 working as a full time visual effects artist, looking forward to see what's next and hopefully can get this setup one day..! Thank you!
Hi! I’m a 3D freelance artist with great demo reel but needing help on how to reach more clients any help with this would be appreciated
As far as carts go, I use a Huskey workbench from home depot. Super solid and can be hand-cranked to a standing height if you're interested. Cable management is a bit rough and something I'm still working on but even so it's a breeze to push from one space to another and pretty inexpensive for what you get.
Simply AMAZAING!
Amazing work so amazing
I love you guys so much
Great video so many people think green screen is dead because of the advances in AI and LED tech but it's still a vital tool for all film and TV production.
Drewl.... man I wantto do thihs. Very exciting. I love the way you go over enough details to see what is needed and possible but not so much that it is hard to watch.
Thanks Riot Team!
Pretty awesome.
Quality is Super Cool
I am happy this exists but this is why I decided to go the 3D animated rout for my shorts as opose to live action, so much equipment man!!
That's just crazy cool stuff. Maybe one day I'll have the extra money to buy some of the stuff required.
You guys rock!
so good keep it up bro
This is rad
Very cool! It’s like how they did Surf’s Up but in real life! I love it haha
This is awesome, great video! One suggestion: When using live-link tracking, I'm almost positive there's a field for you to set a delay, making syncing virtual and physical camera's motion super easy. Hope that helps!
Yeah I did that, it helps a little, but not with fast moves. At least not that I could get anyway.
How in the world does Justin keep getting into these six-fi predicaments!
4:43 I also want to give my Puget a big hug most days. 😅 My setup is similar. I'm a step down on the Threadripper (3960X), but I went dual 3090s along with the 256GB of RAM. All the RAM, all the VRAM, as much as I can get, lol.
Best channel 🔥🔥💯
Thats the future of making movies.
Focus Pull I always prefer to do in post (which adds a extra flexibility). This also makes more sense for the keying. Much more easy to Chroma-key high res focused footage. Love the workflow so far Ryan! Btw : next step is a bigger green screen studio😍
That's what I did here. The focus pulling that was happening was making sure he stayed in focus.
@@filmriot gotcha, makes sense now.
Great! Thnxs for sharing 🤘🤘
Great video!
It resembles what Rob Powers did for the first Avatar movie so J. Cameron could view the environment he would virtually film in, save you have a real actor and the virtual environment you are shooting in is real time final result - which is mind blowing! I see the need for the camera setup but are you all eventually going to integrate a virtual camera rig for future projects? Thanks for all you guys are doing!
Unreal Engine Is The Future Of Filmaking
🔥🔥😱😱😱 The future for indi filmmaking is here
💚 *AWESOME* 💚
Love everything I’ve seen coming out of unreal engine 5 so far (even invested a little into Star Atlas). The creative possibilities are seemingly endless. How do you guys feel this will affect the filmmaking landscape long term?
Great demo for Mars! their calibration process seem easier then done directly inside unreal. Contrary to many people believe, you need to genlock as much as you can with greenscreen VP, Aja/Decklink is a must. Especially using Vive! And, if in any case you want to try my Physically Based Lighting System that is accurate virtually with the real fixture for Arri, Aputure, Nanlux, Forza, and more to come) . Would love to provide to you the lighting solution frameworks so you can match your real lighting with the unreal scenes. And you also can track the lighting :)
wow guys, good job good job
inspiring !
Dude that is soo impressive 👌👌. You have been working your arse off on this. That's what I call real movie science. At first glance, the complexity hurts my brain but I know it's just a matter of practice. I reckon all this just kicked your capabilities up 1000% with essentially unlimited virtual sets. Epic is going hard at this and they are doing a great job of proliferating virtual assets.
Is there any reason you guys used UE4 instead of UE5? it's been out of beta for a while now. UE5 is so slick. I'm doing a big exr export while I'm typing this.
Absolutely the future of filming! Awesome results! Thanks Bryan
This is the most savage shit I think you've ever done haha. Did not think this was going to be a RUclips tutorial made free by anyone for another few years. Yet here you are, handing out the sauce.
Muito bom Ryan!
Awesome
