Thank you, I mean it, I was sat in my living room costing out the budget for my short independent film in Scotland, It was going to cost over 10 k to film. This tech is going to be a game changer for me, I can just concentrate on filming, in my house. That means a great deal, glad you met Shane, he is a friend of mine, and one of the kindest warmest DoP I have ever worked with.
This really is genius tech. I edited my first feature film on Avid, when it was a six figure proposition to own and rented for 2g's a week. We go from that to Jetset, which for me as a filmmaker seems like the perfect tool to be able to do VP on the go. I'm excited. Thanks for a wonderful showcase video Joshua. Wow, this was really cool. So, having seen your Greenscreen or rotoscope video, where use of the refine soft matte, I think my advice would be to find some way to bring that as a real time filter in some way to either Unreal Engine, or via the app, since the Greenscreen effect is visible at the edges. Of course, using that projection technique to bring the lighting of the engine onto the subject would also help improve the immersion. Great stuff here. I bet you had an absolute blast meeting to many amazing people in the industry.

Thanks for making me aware of this software! I have shared your video with my friends who are into this kind of production. I do have one point to make. It seems like you are always under pressure in these showcase videos, which can be more engaging then only showing when things go right. Transparency is always good! I would also like to see some more examples of Jetset just working without focusing on the problems as you do in this video. Jetset should sponsor you to work on a short film with proper actors where you are the cinematographer and can focus on the tech instead of doing everything. I suggest finding a filmmaker and actors who has already won/ was nominated for a film festival award (I have done this myself to great success). Cheers big ears!
I do like these videos to have a narrative so I don't just show everything going well. The only problem I ran into in this case was laptop performance and it was down to that specific unreal engine scene. Jetset worked a dream. I may well work on a short with the Lightcraft people, that's the path I'm on.

I am planning to build a volume set, i nearly ended up running one out in the usa (i'm uk based). I'm working on ways of lowering the cost of volume set building. Jetset has been such an absolute boon for doing previz, where you can show what you see for a scene working, not working and the practicalities what physically you may need in a scene to sell it to an audience.
WHAT. As someone who has spent the last couple of weeks trying to figure out the best way to bring genlock to a studio that wasn't built for it... THIS IS WILD. Is the Seemo Pro required for this or will it work with any of the Seemo models?
Absolutely love it. Next time you do a conference like that use a desktop pc with the best specs you can get your hands on. It makes things so much easier - I know - I used to do Exhibit design.
As far as I'm aware until android gets a lidar sensor or something similar that can help calculate the tracking I think it's unlikely we'll see android.
just curious how a color card would help with unreal and a green screen? Maybe I'm phrasing this wrong but is the unreal "world" already rendered at the perfect color spectrum so it would only be used to change the color of the green screen footage to perfect balance and therefore match the already balanced unreal "world?"
If you're using Jetset cine and want to calibrate with your lenss then (asside from the iphone and your cine camera) you need an accsoon seemo, an hdmi from the camera to the seemo, and a usbc to usbc cable to go from the seemo to the phone. Then, just some rods etc to mount it all on your camera rig.
@outjogging If you want to do an on set lighting preview with unreal then generally speaking you need a video capture card to get video into unreal. Elgato camlink 4k, decklink or aja cards are supported by unreal. If you want to be wireless then a set of video transmitters would be a good shout too. We used a set from accsoon.
In the free version, Can we shoot the footage in 4k on blackmagic? and does the phone record 1080p simultaneously while shooting in 4k on the camera? And does 24fps actual footage sync tracking data with 30fps iphone footage? Please respond, these questions are really making my tired....

Jetset Cine sounds really exciting, but more is needed to be done in tutorials and how to streamline UE sets to Lightcraft. I have decent experience in VP, admittedly complex staff, but what JETSET CINE is intending do is mind-blowing, however it is not as simple as yet to do on cinema camera using iPhone as tracker...
It has a learning curve to start wit,h as everything does. But once the workflow is understood I think it's actually quite straightforward. Loads of tutorials on their site too. I'm sure it will become more stramlined as developemnt continues.
hi i downloaded the app. i was wondering is it possible to just record all the tracking data along with the footage in camera on the actual iphone and take it to blender and add animation later., with all the tracking so i dont need to use blenders motion tracking?
Yes. If you record takes in Jetset on the iPhone, it will record your iPhone footage, your preview composite, and the tracking data. Then, send it through to blender via autoshot. That will bring the tracking data and footage across.
You would export your full quality scene (or a section of it) to USD with preview textures and then Ligthcraft's desktop app, Autoshot, turns that into a USDZ for use on the phone.
I love almost everything about this software. Why almost? The glaring lack of Android support is the elephant in the room. If they can manage to produce a software that is platform agnostic or at least Android compatible, that would make this a "Just take my money" solution. Thank you for documenting your experience.

I am looking at getting an affordable I-phone that supports jetset. Is I phone SE comparable? I have a HUGE script that I believe I would never be able to make. I am hoping this tech will make it attainable
Im not totally sure about the SE. I do know that the earlier the iphone model, the less geometry you will be able to load, and you might experience more overheating.
iPhone is going to be essential hardware for this. It's mainly to do with the consistent build quality and lidar sensor. Im an android user generally but I have an iphone for jetset
Unlikely. Android doesn't have a lidar sensor for tracking. There are other deeper reasons around the consistency of the build quality. Best to think of it as a required piece of camera equipment rather that an iphone vs android issue. I have an android phone but still have an iphone for vp.
If that's based on my screen recording then it wont look 100% because running OBS caused a bit of stuttering. I can tell you from experience that the tracking beats vive. Also vive gives you absolutely no pipeline into post.
@@JoshuaMKerr Vive Mars tracking must be superior to an Iphones cheap Lidar. Aximmetry has an App to and all apps of this kind use apple ARkit. I doubt if this delivers usable tracking for a proper VFX shoot. It´s cool but its just a previz tool
Definitely the least of my worries at the time. Despill could be stronger, but we aren't in a controlled environment either. I was surprised the greenscreen was as evenly lit as it was.
Not for android no. Lidar asside, the iphone offers a consistent build quality. But its not really an Android vs iPhone question. It's better to look at an iPhone as just another piece of camera gear in this case. Im an Android user, but use the iPhone just for jetset.

a colour checker or colour chart would absolutely be useful for matching the colour science of your camera to the cg scene...or vice versa.

I wouldn't recommend anything below a 13 pro for production. I know the app can work on lower models but haven't tried it myself.

It's because it's a rough key using composure to visualise the scene live. Also, it wasn't a great environment for lighting a green screen.

The app calculates the tracking offset so phone placement doesn't have to be quite so precise.

If the goal is a high end photoreal UE5 Environment then you need to make a Low poly Version for the Phone to Work?

I doubt we will see any serious VP solutions on android. The lack of lidar depth sensing is an ongoing issue

If that's based on my screen recording then it wont look 100% because running OBS caused a bit of stuttering.
I can tell you from experience that the tracking beats vive. Also vive gives you absolutely no pipeline into post.
@@JoshuaMKerr Vive Mars tracking must be superior to an Iphones cheap Lidar. Aximmetry has an App to and all apps of this kind use apple ARkit. I doubt if this delivers usable tracking for a proper VFX shoot. It´s cool but its just a previz tool

Definitely the least of my worries at the time. Despill could be stronger, but we aren't in a controlled environment either. I was surprised the greenscreen was as evenly lit as it was.

Not for android no. Lidar asside, the iphone offers a consistent build quality.
But its not really an Android vs iPhone question. It's better to look at an iPhone as just another piece of camera gear in this case.
Im an Android user, but use the iPhone just for jetset.
