    Another thing you forgot to mention that is so good about Cecil is that he is not just a pure, morally good character. He is fully willing to do some awful things in order to protect Earth, such as work with D.A. Sinclair, a criminal who tortured multiple innocents for his experiments, or send Damien Darkblood back to the underworld to prevent Omni-Man from realizing that they are onto him. This ambiguity is part of what makes him so compelling.

      Even debbie says so in the (third? Fourth?) Episode of season two, that the reason he did and is doing what he is doing to help them is so he can keep mark on a leash, which she doesn't like.

    Cecil Stedman has the advantage of appearing exclusively in a single comic book series and its animated adaptation. That's allowed him to remain consistent across his existence, so we can admire his brilliance and resourcefulness without having to remember the pratfalls inept writers felt like they needed to subject him to.
    That said, I like Cecil more even writing off the various terrible interpretations of Nick Fury. Nick always felt like he wanted to be out pounding heads and shooting bad guys or whatever, however good he may have been at running SHIELD. Cecil is at home leading the GDA - it's not just where he is most useful, it's where he wants to be. Running SHIELD is Nick Fury's job and his duty - running the GDA is Cecil's entire life's purpose.

    • @Alacaelum
      @Alacaelum 9 месяцев назад +4

      Exactly that. Fury(comic) was always a hands-on field guy, which for many things was better and with how he managed SHIELD it puts in perspective his capacity to multitask... but because of that he failed the big picture many times because he got too close and forgot to have perspective.
      Cecil will not shy away of putting himself in danger, but he knows what he is does best, he has extensive field experience and knows the many sides of many decisions and ways of thinking, he does fail and make wrong calls, but he does keep things running smoothly.
      I like both character, they are smart badasses that have a good track record but that feel human with their failings, i may like Cecil more exactly because what you said, he appears in only one series and is kept consistent, but they still are very good "the guy in charge" arhectype examples.

    • @connyslayer4661
      @connyslayer4661 8 дней назад

      Good points however, A team or several different writers can do great job with the character if they get the character right. The thing is Cecil has been consistent despite appearing in two series and Nick Fury used to be consistent then got screwed over by the MCU and terrible current writers that don't know what made him badass in the first place. I love Cecil because he is his own character but also what current and modern Nick Fury should have been. Nick seriously needs his classic interpretations back and needs to step up his game.

  • @filipvadas7602
    @filipvadas7602 9 месяцев назад +28

    Cecil's main advantage , unlike Nick Fury and most other Marvel characters, is that he was ultimately written by a singular writer and appears in only one comic book series with a consistent long running narrative.
    Even the show is literally just adapting the comic, only changing certain things that felt superficial or that negatively affected the story and/or pacing, all of which is also supervised by Invincible's said original writer.
    Nick Fury just doesn't have that luxury, even if we just look at the MCU, who knows just how many writers the character has bounced between. Eventually , as we see, there's going to be cases where they legit don't know what they're doing or what to do with his character as a whole.

      Alright, for starters on your take here. Nick Fury came first, so he is the original ideal for these government super secret spy characters that try to keep heroes accountable. Next, the point here isn't that comic Nick Fury is bad, it's that MCU Nick Fury is, He's become significantly less interesting and went from his peak in Captain America Winter Soldier in terms of writing to Secret Invasions which was an non-secret as it gets. The only big character that is revealed to be a skrull is Rhodey, when in the comics important characters are being found out as Skrulls left and right.

      Sure seems like it since they couldn't even pronounce Cecil's last name correctly. Stredman? Wtf is that.

    This feels AI written and voiced.
    The theaterspeak is not helping.
    Just try to make the script on your own, and dont use the entire video to say "Cecil so good" without giving good examples and evidence directly after/before your point.
    E.G.:
    "When Cecil defended the earth from A he did X while Nick would have done Y which might look like a good choice in the beginning but we can see a better long term outcome due to Furys focus on being rightous and moral while Cecils manipulation give better results".
    And please try to make it sound human and not as if a smug british prince is trying to explain the concept of a potatoe to an irishman.
    There is an interesting idea here but poorly executed imo.
