I’ve watched Ugarte. He’s another example of poor recruitment. He’s nowhere near mobile enough for prem. he’s no faster than casemeiro and whilst hes 23 he won’t get faster and he’s poor on the ball. If we’re going for young talent we should have gone for someone like baleba at Brighton at a fraction of the price. Doesn’t feel like there’s any detailed profiling of player attributes at United. They’ve just pivoted to buy young without much other thought. De ligt is another example. Ten hag wants his fullbacks to move into a midfield. This leaves a back three all exposed as none of them have any pace. Arsenal can do it as saliba and Gabriel have pace and cover the flanks when the fullback has drifted into midfield, you cannot do this with Martinez and de ligt they dont have the recovery pace as seen in spurs second goal yesterday!
Ugarte has started one game please 🙄. The whole team was dreadful but there were 4 new signings who hadn’t played PL before in the team and too much reliance on young players
@@FF-oo8nzI have and whilst I disagree with the pace aspect I can also point out that he’s TERRIBLE at build up play. That’s why Enrique sold him and started a 17 year old over him. He’s probably worse than Casemiro at it. He solves exactly 1 of the issues with Casemiro and none of the others.

ETH is only in the job because they couldn't find a better manager, but I don't get why the management backed him so heavily in the transfer market. They basically made sure that psg didn't make any losses on a player they clearly didn't want, as well as funding their bid for an actually generational player. Same vibes for de ligt. Zirkzee and yoro are good signings, but they don't help the team now, which basically means another write off season. Only mazroui has been a good signing objectively. The club is in absolute shambles.
If you want to be a build from the back possession team, why on earth would you buy Ugarte? He is an old school midfield destroyer who would suit a team like A Madrid.
It's baffling, I saw many United fans saying Ugarte will fix everything in response to Casemiro looking so uncomfortable on the ball against Liverpool. They seemed to have no idea how bad Ugarte was on the ball, like much worse than Casemiro, which is fair enough I guess, maybe they're more casual fans. But surely United's recruitment side of things knew, it's quite common knowledge in the game and haven't they put a load of work into that particular area this summer? They also seemed to think he was a sitting midfielder to protect the back 4 but he clearly always wants to leg it all over the pitch. Their whole recruitment this summer has been a bit weird, De Ligt, Mazraoui and Ugarte are all cast offs their club were glad to see the back of, Zirkzee wants to play in the areas Fernandes plays yet they're using him as a number 9 and it remains to be seen if Yoro can live up to an enormous price tag way above what anyone else was thinking of paying. Gravenberch at Liverpool was a cast off from a big club but the change in role for him has revitalised him, hard to see what United can do to really change the kind of players Mazraoui, De Ligt and Ugarte are. Feels eerily similar when they bought Sancho thinking he was rapid and not realising which wing was his favoured one.
Well the weird thing is, he’s 3 seasons in and his starting 11 has like 4 new additions, who will need time to adjust to the league and system, and to make matters worse, they join a team with absolutely no identity/pattern of play or anything established. It is a mess
nobody seems to mentioned this across the board, but United NEVER able to successfully 'play from the back' since ETH 1st pre-season in 2022, and their tactics shows throughout the 2 seasons. the possession stats deceives us but on the pitch we can see the players a so far apart from one another and most of the time we play low block counter attack with Bruno and Rashford as the main culprit.
Managers keep "out thinking" ETH. The players he has should get results against Twente or Palace, there is a problem at the club and ultimately the buck stops at ETH
My biggest concern as a united fan is every team we will be up against now will believe they are guaranteed the 3 points. This means they will come into the game with 20% more confidence and play with 20% more energy, which is worrying when many teams could probably beat us at the moment without these extra percentages. This makes Ten Hags job even harder, and these difficulties won't go away until we string a few results together or give a top 4 team an absolute pasting.
Ten Hag will never run out of excuses. He invents a new one by the week. No, the real question is, when will INEOS run out of patience? The longest rope has an end.
I think ten hag lacks a lot of self belief for a big club like United, he's been constantly deviating from his principles, he'll probably go to a club like Leipzig and do good there, but that's his level and potential
The idea of playing without a high class striker is mystifying, given the amount of money Man Utd have spent. Rashford and Martial banging in goals for fun four seasons ago gave them a false sense of security there...
@@timecircle8420 so using your logic we should have been the best team in the league when he was dropped by both Rangnick and Jose?? We have a manager who literally banished our best ever player and dropped/stripped our captain. If Rashford was doing anything he didn’t want he wouldn’t be in the team
Sunday was a perfect example. Ange has been at Spurs for a year and everyone knows exactly how they are going to play. They have a clear identity and vision - not suggesting it is perfect but there style of play is crystal clear. ETH is £600m+ and over 3yrs into his contract and we still have no idea what he's trying to achieve on the pitch.
The first goal starts with rashford running across van der ven not challenging, then it's the midfielders not putting in a tackle, then it's the RB and finally it is dalot not tracking Johnson at the far post. The entire team was at fault for the first goal, not just one player. There is a weak mentality that spreads like a virus within players each second and third season of a new manager. At this point, we have to accept that the issues are much worse behind the scenes than we are let on. If ten haag is sacked, the next manager is going to be a yes man with no control over transfers and will be forced to play with the same group of players and make do. Repeating the cycle.
It's actually so funny how easy it is to fix United, Bruno is always to detached from the midfield, united basically play with two midfielders every game meaning that no matter the opposition they will ALWAYS be outnumbered in midfield, the real question to be asked is whether Bruno's positioning is an order from the manager or not
That's one major issue, but it doesn't address fullbacks who can't defend, an obsession with playing out from the back with players who aren't good enough on the ball, lack of depth, and of course a "superstar" who turns up once a season and is more concerned with image off the pitch than his ability to put the ball in the net.
@@yousefbhacker8160 But at first ETH said he didn't have the players to play out from the back, presumably he does now, so what is his excuse? There isn't one, do a Biden and step aside.

@StephenC-k5o it was definitely them. Solskjaer himself has said that it was a mistake bringing back Ronaldo, completely disrupted and changed the way side played. Sancho? Been a 'success' at one club... been disinclined for a bad attitude at every club he's been at.
@StephenC-k5o Evereywhere?? He's played for Dortmund. Where's 'everywhere'? Been disciplined for being late at City, Dortmund and United. He utter shite. Ronaldo is all about himself. He wanted out as soon as the Saudi money came and engineered it to make it look like he was forced out.
@StephenC-k5o who said it was ok for Rashford to drink in Belfast? And he was disciplined, fined and dropped. What a weird comparison. As is the Ronaldo comparison, who's comparing him to Rashford?! 🤣. He was a top player in his first stint, the best United player I've seen more than likely. But the 36 year old version wasn't and he had a negative impact. Sancho's 'class' at Chelsea?! Been there about 3 weeks 🤣. He's absolute garbage.
@StephenC-k5o so you've picked out the worst winger in the club who hasn't played and a centre mid for your comparison... 🤣. Didn't Rashford score 30 goals 2 years ago?.... so, not entirely accurate that little stat is it
The problem isn't just Ten Hag...it's the whole club and its vision translated into recruitment. Spurs only buy players that have good character to create a good team spirit ....
He’s definitely out of his depth, can’t even blame the players for “throwing him under the bus”. 90% of this team are his own signings and even they’ve looked awful
Mazraoui has been class. Zirkzee has been interesting, he's not a goalscorer, more of a 10. His link up play has been brilliant. Hojlund and Mount can't really judge due to injuries, need more game time. Lisandro has been a beast. Onana disappointing at times, altought brilliant with his feet. You're just wrong
As a City Fan in the week running up to FA Cup Final. I saw Eric and Pep together. Then I knew Erick asked his Friend to save His job and Pep agreed the rest is history😢😂😂
TBF he did a fantastic job finishing 8th last season, as City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Palace and Brighton, all have better squads than Utd.
nothing will ever change until they remove player power. 5 managers now and the board always sided with the players. They need to dispose of players like Rashford who just epitomises the malaise and hes on 350k a week, until there is fear this will repeat. They will turn it on and off when they please.
Omar Barada, Dan Ashwirth and the rest of the leadership has already failed their first decision by keeping ETH for winning FA Cup against lucky draw and then 2 decent performances against Liverpool and City who would rather lose it and keep their players healthy for PL and UCL rather than win it and lose a key player. These performances were mainly driven by players' hunger to win something, not ETH tactics, really. He's poor. Leadership gave him all the players he needed (possible), and most of them were average. Man United should never go get a bench warmer from Bologna and Bayern. No standard.
Like you can be extremely critical of united and ten hag without making up absolute bollocks. Obviously Liverpool and City wanted to win the fa Cup. Everyone does. Zirkzee wasn't a bench warmer at Bolonga at all. Criticise the way we play out with half our team on the half way line, how we can't pass, can't keep a structure, can't score bloody goals. But there is literally no need to chat absolute macca.
I completely agree. We play out with 5 or 6 players pushing the opposition backline while we're making 6 yard passes in our own box. Makes no sense at all.
I'm a bit fed up with some of this "analysis" especially when there's a lack of technical knowledge. When I listen to a podcast I'd like to hear someone provide an insight I wouldn't have been aware of. At what point is someone going to say that both Garnacho and Rashford are incapable of beating a FB? It's not a matter of opinion it's a fact, we have stats for this kind of stuff. Doku or Kudus complete 4x as many dribbles per game than either of them, a major factor as to why United cannot score is because they don't have wide players who are capable in 1v1. Now that's not the end of the world for example Beckham wasn't elite at going past FB's either but he made up for it with elite level passing/crossing and defensive work. You get none of that from Rashford or Garnacho. Both of them + Bruno lose possession over and over again, so United get counter attacked. Seriously guys can we get some substantive analysis instead of just "the mood around United isn't great". The mood could be NYE on ecstasy it still doesn't change that some players aren't good enough.
The problem is more complicated than what you suggest. For example, Rashford cannot cross nor dribble, but he can provide pass to full back who makes overlapping or underlapping runs. You could see him making loads of passes when he played with Shaw under OGS. The question is then why playing Rashford when you ask your full back to be inverted. He is not the kind of player who can dribble past two players. It suggests playing him with tactics that don't fit the profile of the kind of player he is. And this is down to the manager.
I'm a United fan and while I think the time for Erik to leave is nigh, there's not a single manager who would succeed at the club. Not even Pep would. Also I shudder what sort of a manager would be next. Other fans are begging for the likes of Nagelsmann, but United would have to buy out two contracts since he just signed an extension to get the German team through the next World Cup. It's going to be a free manager like Ruud Van Nistelrooy or possibly a Southgate. Tuchel I doubt since they already talked with him last summer and I think he would probably want to overhaul the squad to his liking..
The problem is out of control player power, chaos, and low standards. You would hope that Ineos will raise the standards and eliminate the chaos bit by bit. So that leaves player power, which means you need a manager who commands authority and will not be undermined by players. I can only think of a figure like Carlo Ancelotti who could manage that backroom situation. Failing that, they need to get rid of the players who have too much influence - potentially meaning Rashford, Fernandez and the likes of Casemiro and Eriksen who are past their best.
@@Auriflamme I agree. The Spurs game showed a team that lacked any sort of urgency. It was downright lethargic. The problem with any new manager right now also is that he's going to have a Rashford on 350k wages for the next 4 years, a Casemiro on 350k till 2026 and a Bruno on 325k for 3 more years. I'm not sure any team would actually offer Rashford the same as United has. The only one of our top players that we might have a chance to get rid of is Bruno and I'm definitely not sure about that.
Feel like the problem is expecting utd to be elite. Learning to be happy with top 6 would be a better goal. Maybe one day they can be elite again and that’s ok.
How does a coach make people track back or run after a charging player? What tactics change that? If Antony was a British player you wouldn't call him such a bad signing.
Lets see... 1. More than HALF A BILLION SPENT (660m to be exact) 2. 20+ senior players signed 3. Got all the strikers he wanted, the midifielders he wanted, the defenders he wanted 4. Got rid of all the players he did not want like CR7, Fred, Iqbal and Sancho 5. Got new stake-holders and a completely new structure in INEOS, Berrada and them man. 6. Got his support staff upgraded/replaced 7. Has his favourite XI available and uninjured. 8. Played no one serious except Liverpool and maybe Spurs and he have 1 win 5 in the league and 1 in 9 in Europe! This guy.....what an absolute Joke!
As ManUtd fan, I don’t really care what Eric Ten Hag trying so hard to achieve tactically. The team has no fighting spirit nor desire even just to play decent EPL standard football.. consistently!. To be that spineless at home ground is truly insulting for the fans. Until everyone in that dressing room can get the right play for the badge-mental and mindset, no tactics will ever work
Until this season I wanted to believe in him and not rush to decisions. But one thing I’ve hated about eth is his lack of accountability. Every single conference he’s out giving excuses. Goes to show how little the previous administration vetted him. We need leaders everywhere. I was never a fan of many of the old trades cause I thought those players were not leadership characters. How is it better if the boss is even the same? As for his coaching, while our attack play looks more cohesive our defense especially on transitions, is abysmal. He thinks this is still Ajax.
The team should be picked on current form and not on historical status. Pandering to Bruno and Rashford's egos has not helped Ten Hag this season. Both of them need the jolt of having to fight for their places. And the manager shouldn't need to justify it by stating it's for rotation.
He should be sacked if he can’t bench players that have been performing badly for months. Rashford, Bruno and Dalot have been poor all season. He benched Amad who has been our best player this season to accommodate Rashford in his favoured position. He deserves to be sacked.

Well the weird thing is, he’s 3 seasons in and his starting 11 has like 4 new additions, who will need time to adjust to the league and system,
and to make matters worse, they join a team with absolutely no identity/pattern of play or anything established. It is a mess
There is a style of play though... Also most assistants/coaches he had have left as well... Benni & Steve are gone.
@@ThePhamasTeam well if there is it ain’t working. And he was the one who called up Ruud.
nobody seems to mentioned this across the board, but United NEVER able to successfully 'play from the back' since ETH 1st pre-season in 2022, and their tactics shows throughout the 2 seasons. the possession stats deceives us but on the pitch we can see the players a so far apart from one another and most of the time we play low block counter attack with Bruno and Rashford as the main culprit.
Was Scott McTominay the glue in Manchester United side that kept them as a top 12 side?
I think you're joking but you are not 100% wrong.
The players understand that the higher ups will choose either the manager or the players and they think it's the players right now.
In that context, greenwood doing what he did really hurt us.
The only constant at United through Mou, Ole, and EtH is Rashford. He can’t be bothered to press most seasons. When is his time up?
Don’t forget he was in the academy under Moyes, he was obviously pulling the strings from there in 2013 🥴🥴
@@BigPurp9 why would anyone work hard when he gets to play each week but doesn’t put in the effort required to start each week?
@@timecircle8420 so using your logic we should have been the best team in the league when he was dropped by both Rangnick and Jose?? We have a manager who literally banished our best ever player and dropped/stripped our captain. If Rashford was doing anything he didn’t want he wouldn’t be in the team
Guess it's Luke Shaw's fault too
@@MichaelH3948 well, yeah it is to a certain degree. He can’t stay healthy and should be moved on.
Over 3 years?
@@ThePhamasTeam typo. Over 2yrs, his 3rd full season in charge.
For the first goal its the right back Masroui that needed to tuck in to stop the run.
@@yousefbhacker8160 He should be sacked if he can’t bench Rashford & Bruno.
I reckon Ugarte-Casemiro-Eriksen midfield fixes that.

@StephenC-k5oyawn. Ronaldo WAS a problem, as was Sancho.
If you seriously believe in that guff he came out with in that Piers Morgan interview then more fool you.

No, no. I was wrong. United fans were right. Ten Hag is doing a fantastic job. Give him a lifetime contract. This is comedy gold.
A good example of a player coming in with time to bed in and thrive is Ryan Gravenberch this season
The problem isn't just Ten Hag...it's the whole club and its vision translated into recruitment. Spurs only buy players that have good character to create a good team spirit ....
What it comes down to is that they gave ETH an extension because City had a day off.
What excuse!? He didn't make any. Just said we weren't good enough!
Weird, pep looked pretty pissed off for 90 minutes at Wembley there.
TBF he did a fantastic job finishing 8th last season, as City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Palace and Brighton, all have better squads than Utd.
Please give Ten Hag the necessary time to fully complete his mission 😉
nothing will ever change until they remove player power. 5 managers now and the board always sided with the players. They need to dispose of players like Rashford who just epitomises the malaise and hes on 350k a week, until there is fear this will repeat. They will turn it on and off when they please.
Ok,but what about the rest of the team that are all of Ten Hags players? That’s a Goldbridge level excuse.
I love Phil Hay
Good to hear Laurie talk about genuine football matters and not trying to help rehabilitate gruesome types like Greenwood
Is not AWB, and De Gea better?
Why are United full banks so high?
This obsession with attack is gonna kill teams
Mazraoui is clear
Beautifully said
The problem is more complicated than what you suggest.
And their passing is woeful. The coach has flaws but the team isn't as good as we make it technically speaking.
When you are taking about recruitment, this summer should not have been down to EtH.
Ten hag needs more time. We can see a pattern of play in this team
Where’s Carl?
Lets see...
1. More than HALF A BILLION SPENT (660m to be exact)
2. 20+ senior players signed
3. Got all the strikers he wanted, the midifielders he wanted, the defenders he wanted
4. Got rid of all the players he did not want like CR7, Fred, Iqbal and Sancho
5. Got new stake-holders and a completely new structure in INEOS, Berrada and them man.
6. Got his support staff upgraded/replaced
Until everyone in that dressing room can get the right play for the badge-mental and mindset, no tactics will ever work
Ruud van Nistelrooy will probably give us new manager bounce too
he's improved no players, can only recruit his former players who aren't at the level. he's a cup manager, not a league manager
I hope ETH stay at Man U forever
Until this season I wanted to believe in him and not rush to decisions. But one thing I’ve hated about eth is his lack of accountability. Every single conference he’s out giving excuses. Goes to show how little the previous administration vetted him.
We need leaders everywhere. I was never a fan of many of the old trades cause I thought those players were not leadership characters. How is it better if the boss is even the same?
As for his coaching, while our attack play looks more cohesive our defense especially on transitions, is abysmal. He thinks this is still Ajax.
He ran out of excuses long ago…..set him free now and stop the suffering!
As a Villa fan, give him another new contract, 40 years
He won the Rumbellows cup!
Battered Barnsley, Southampton and Fulham with 11-0 GD, i say United is back!
The team should be picked on current form and not on historical status. Pandering to Bruno and Rashford's egos has not helped Ten Hag this season. Both of them need the jolt of having to fight for their places. And the manager shouldn't need to justify it by stating it's for rotation.
Nah. Ten Hag's living like a Jay-Z song, except it goes like "I got 99 problems but finding excuses ain't one" 😂
Or perhaps "99 excuses, every time we lose..."
Rubbish, the competition isn't stiffer today than Ferguson's era. The premiership has always been tough, where any team can lose to any team.
He should be sacked if he can’t bench players that have been performing badly for months. Rashford, Bruno and Dalot have been poor all season. He benched Amad who has been our best player this season to accommodate Rashford in his favoured position. He deserves to be sacked.
Give Ten Hag a five year contract extension, he's the right man for Yanited! 😂
Berrada and co took around 3 to 4 years to revive Barcelona and around same to build Man City to 1st premier league trophy...may be he knows what he is talking about 4 years and Man United..Ferguson took 4 years between 2003 to 2007 to win Man United the 2007 league..and earlier on 4 years to start his trophy belt at United.. Klopp took 4 years to win Liverpool league.. Arteta has been around more than 4 years but no trophy but u can say his team looks good
Nah give Ten Hag longer ahaha 🤣 I'm sorry yes they don't have "charges" hanging over them, but they do have years and years. Of underperforming and the way there is so many "transitions" and "rebuilds". Just don't care for them is about as unbiased and balanced as can say there. I never will feel sorry for them, but gee is just unusual now. My first 4-5 years ish of following European football, from here in Western Australia- they were dominant. From like 2009-2013, so four years really- winning leagues, getting to Champions League finals now just nothing...... . From LVG, Jose, obviously Ole did ok but yeah those two aside from him- and now Ten Hag. So much money.... oh well as for the match- will have to watch the highlights aha. Just yeah thinking about the "longer term" there aha....
More time and more Antonys, in time it will all make sense😂
