Birth control is often prescribed to regulate periods. It has been effective but I would like to know if there is any other way to regulate cycles without medication
@@marielaorrala2483 I’ve had patient regulate their periods and regain fertility with just a little bit of weight loss. About 5-10% so if you were 200 lbs, just losing 10 lbs! We’re going to touch more on this on our next video with infertility
hey! i realize this is a month late and i’m sorry but i was just diagnosed with pcos, i’m 14 turning 15 & i was wondering how can you manage acne, specifically body acne? i feel like nothing works for me
This is a late comment but hoping for some luck. If one has not had period for years and is still in their 20's how would you recommend going about getting tested and treating themselves? There are other obvious signs of PCOS as well. Birth control is not an option, looking for info on what questions to be asking the doctor. Thanks in advance if you answer!
Just got diagnosed with PCOS and prediabetes with severe insulin resistance. Doctors don’t give a lot of information on how to treat it except “lose weight” so thank you.
First I'd recommend having ACV at hand. It helps me with my Blood Sugar spikes and cutting on carbs by using "keto" friendly options ❤ good luck mama ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your experience of having PCOS. I was diagnosed 18 months ago at the age of 35, but ‘knew’ I had it for much longer and was avoiding confronting it. My doctor was really helpful and my main concern was not having regular periods which isn’t good because not bleeding can lead to developing abnormal cells in your uterus. I was put on the progesterone only pill and persevered for 6 months until the headaches and constant spotting got too much. I decided to come off it and read some scientific research on supplements that help with PCOS. Here’s what I discovered (note: this is what I read in medical papers and it has worked to improve many of my symptoms. You should always follow proper medical advice and do your own research on reputable cites): - Cutting down on dairy was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I did it before my diagnosis to help with migraine but it has also stopped some of my excessive hair growth and vastly improved the clarity of my skin. Dairy has been linked to ovarian cancer, but not enough research exists yet to fully determine how far this is true. - Taking Myo Inositol has been life changing in terms of my periods. I have a regular cycle for the first time in years, which also means my fertility has improved. Myself and my husband don’t want children, but if you read the testimonies of women who have taken this you will hear about some successes. It’s worth a try and can help alongside other prescribed medications. - Other supplements that improve the symptoms of PCOS are folic acid, zinc, vitamin b complex, N-acetyl cysteine, and L Carnitine. The first three help regulate periods and improve ovary/egg health and the last two help with insulin resistance. - Eat more protein and cut down on carbohydrates. This is good advice for most people, but anyone with PCOS should definitely consider doing this. Carbohydrates turn to sugar/insulin in the body and get stored more easily as fat. Upping my protein and actually eating more (just less carbs) helped me lose 9kg in five months. I wasn’t massively over weight but I was on the boundary according to BMI charts. I feel more like I’m in my own body now and have more confidence and energy. It was more about improving my self esteem than trying to get a ‘perfect’ body. - For hair loss, use rosemary oil on the scalp and leave on for a while before washing. Massage your scalp well and use Castor oil on the ends of your damp hair before drying. Also, sleep in a silk bun or equivalent to prevent breakage. I was shocked how much healthier my hair got overnight. - Other skin tips are to use jojoba oil at night. It’s not greasy and mimics the skins natural sebum. This means your getting moisture and softness, without risking a breakout. For spots, use salicylic acid and try to use a moisturiser that contains HA. Again, avoid dairy and eat plenty of leafy greens (spinach, kale etc). - For my mental health I take sertraline, as prescribed by my doctor, and I also take lions mane mushroom to improve my mood as well as making sure I get out for fresh air whenever I can. Sorry that this comment has gone on forever, but I really hope this advice might help someone : ) I didn’t do all of this overnight, I implemented things over a few years and slowly built up to my routine now. If you change or add one thing to your lifestyle once a month, think what you’ll achieve in a year. Be safe, be healthy and be happy with who you are ❤️
After digging through YT i have finally had success with 30+ grams of protein in the morning, ceylon cinnamon, berberine, myo-inosotol and magnesium glyceinate....I also do a 10mins walk after eating (or march in place if i don't want to go out)...slow weighted workouts and 12-3-30 treadmill workouts..... it's been really helpful to learn so much. Thank you for this I was diagnosed in my teens and now i am in my 30s and finally learning what to do other than hearing "eat salads"
As fellow Asian female, I'm so glad I found your videos. I feel like I was shamed for my body weight despite the fact that I don't even eat junk/sugary food at all. I don't even drink soda.
Thank you for this video! I’m 24 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS. I’ve struggled with my weight, acne, access hair, irregular periods, anxiety and depression since I was 13… it’s always been hard for me to stick to a diet bc food….I’m working on making better choices without restricting myself and being more active!
@elizabeth winpigler I’m going through the same exact thing. I was diagnosed with PCOS back in July. And I struggle with my weight, irregular periods, anxiety and depression. And I have those dark patches around the neck, which I have to put makeup around my neck. I get chest pain on and off, and headaches here and there due to bad anxiety. It’s so hard for me to loose weight.
@@okamiamaterasu5416 I have those dark patches between my thighs and around my neck. And I was also Endometrial hyperplasia, which is related to PCOS. Ugh 😣 I tried not to cry on the inside.
This is the best video I've seen so far about pcos, weight loss, diet and exercise, and I've seen A LOT!😅 It took me years of reading articles, watching videos, asking doctors, testing and failing, to be able to make the conclusions that you listed in this short 13 min video. So for anyone with pcos watchig this, believe me, this is all you need to know! (Just 1 thing to add about suplemts, I found that a vitamin B complex helps regulate my periods)
I am so happy to see someone talk about PCOS in just an informative way and explaining how everything works. I'm 17 and recently got diagnosed with PCOS, at some point I thought it was hopeless to lose weight but I'm grateful to have reached this video. It has regained my motivation and hope once again.
@@upamarcrds Hello sorry I just saw this. I believe it took about 3 months to lose that weight in total. Before I saw any weight loss though I regained my period and had 3 cycles before the weight started coming off.
May i know what did you do to loose weight cause as a pcod person i am finding it hard to loose .. please help me I can't figure out where to start ... Hope you see this soonnn.... Waiting for your reply and guidance please
When I was 21 yrs of age I lost 90lbs in 3 months. The best thing for PCOS is a treadmill and small meals of mostly healthy foods. This is just my opinion
@@ashham8859 Yup! That's what has been working for me. Once I discovered the 12-3-30 trend, I FINALLY started seeing results. And it's great training for hikes as well. 😊 It doesn't matter how healthy I eat, if I slack on working out the weight refuses to come off. Weight lifting makes me gain weight and bloat. I've heard that's normal and it can takes weeks to months for your body to drop the weight, but when it does it is a pretty dramatic change. I'm not patient enough for that😅 and the added weight takes a toll on my mental health. So I'm determined to walk this weight off.🙌😁
@@amaragrace94 Hello! is it possible to lose weight by walking for about an hour daily and doing exercises that aren't too crazy? I'm only asking because I don't want to do all these weight stuff plus squatting, I don't want any muscle tbh. Sorry if this is a stupid question
This is so unrelated, but the clip of your baby trying to lift weight with you and getting upset is soooo adorable. The way you comforted him warms my heart. 🥹❤️
I have 90% of the symptoms of PCOS. I am severely overweight, and no matter what I do, I can not lose weight. I have tried everything, and it is exhausting and depressing.
Hi, I know it’s bullshit. It all comes down to insulin. When you have insulin resistance, hyperinsulemia (too much insulin in your blood) it makes it really hard to lose weight, for reasons that come down to your mitochondria. Low GI diet, high in fibre, strength training, and time restricted feeding for at least 12 hours. I would do a check with your doctor about your thyroid, to ensure you don’t suffer from hypothyroidism or adrenal fatigue. That will change the way you eat, and exercise. Goodluck, I hope you get it resolved. ❤
I have to admit I’ve tried increasing protein and it just didn’t really work for me. What works for me: limiting calories (within reason) rather than constantly overeating. Not stressing out about specific macros.
Thank you so much for this video! 🙏 may GOD continue to bless you and also (dr iyaremoses) He cured me from PCOS & hypothyroidism! thank you doc#driyaremoses
please share how. I am desperate. I am tired of my missed periods, the weight that just won't drop even with diet and exercise, of fatty liver, of the abnormal hair growth.
I know this is late, but in my experience general doctors don’t seem to care much about PCOS and really feel the need to push the birth control pill (so they get a check) even though all it does is mask your symptoms. Ever since I got my period at 13, they were never regular. So I got on the birth control pill. This worked fine for me, but the more I studied hormone imbalance and PCOS I realized it wasn’t really doing anything except masking the symptoms I would eventually have to deal with. So when I started college, I got off of the birth control pill and never had my period. Eventually I found a holistic health fertility clinic and have accupuncture for PCOS weekly. They recommended specific supplements based on my blood tests and I have had regular periods for the last 6 months. While I did have side effects such as weight gain and acne, they have resided as I continued accupuncture and supplements. Having my 6th regular period ever, my hair has grown back thick and healthy and became curly again (it was straight on birth control but I was born with curly hair), my acne has resided and my face seems to glow and has been better than ever, and overall I’m just a happier and nicer person. While I am still dealing with my weight gain, I’ve really only gained about 10 pounds and accupuncture has really seemed to keep it at bay. Overall I feel happier and healthier than ever and it’s all due to finding a holistic health doctor who actually listened to me and truly cared, taking the time to do the right blood tests and focus on my body individually. However, I also did the research myself. For any women with hormones and a period, I would recommend reading FLO by Alissa Viti. This book changed my life and perspective on females, hormones and the lack of knowledge throughout the world on menstrual cycles. It’s my go to whenever I have issues. I hope this helps, and you’re never alone. So many women have this condition and it can be reversed, you can lose weight, you can grow hair back, you can have nice skin, you can get pregnant. Women just aren’t educated on it and doctors usually don’t listen/ offer solutions like “lose weight” when it just isn’t that simple. It truly is so sad, and I feel for everyone going through it. Try accupuncture!! Try supplements!! See a doctor that truly cares and doesn’t just push birth control as a solution!! See a holistic health doctor!! There are people out there who can help!
Thank you so much for this comment. I'll look up Flo. I eat very very clean and very little - say a big meal once a day and walk a few KMs daily. Still I've found that my body must have a lot of stress from responsibility I've put on myself over the years. I've found a supplement that does work for me for my hormonal mood swings. It's balance by healthy PCOS an Australian company that ships internationally. I also take their blood sugar and metabolism pills. It's helped immensely for my swinging blood sugar and cravings. If anyone else has more to add re books and wisdom, I'm all ears and my heart is open. Thank you 🙏
I was diagnosed with PCOS recently after an ultrasound. Out of it's symptoms, I only showed irregular periods and pain, so I didn't expect it. I'm still in shock.
I have regular periods, but I went in because we've been trying to get pregnant for like 2 years. The ultrasound tech said I didn't have cysts but a lot of follicles, so I thought I was good. 10 minutes later the NP said it was PCOS. This was a week ago, and I'm accepting and doing research now
i was told I had pcos. when I was checked I had no cyst in my ovaries. But was told I can still have the symptoms. Periods are normal again after getting it fixed but recently I noticed I gain and loose weight. I was 215 lost the 15 pounds and now I’m back at 213. I literally sleep a lot I don’t have facial hair but a little Acne something that I never really suffer from. Been more depressed. I don’t even take pictures anymore. I don’t like how I look. I don’t even ovulate… I’ve been so sad because since I was diagnose I don’t feel like myself anymore
Girl where this video been in my last 10 yrs of fighting my weight. I was dx with PCOS 3-4 yrs ago and yes I was told to lose weight. But never told how to with PCOS. Yes they were wanting me to take meds for the sx's but I refused. Bc birth control made me gained wt. but anyways it took me this long to get it. Yes I'm still in my journey to loose wt. I'm currently doing OMAD, exercising 3-4 x week and have ONE cheat MEAL a week. Not a cheat Day. I've loss 8 lbs and 5 inches from my waist so far. I have a long ways to go but my motto is to stay consistent and discipline. We got this gurlies 🏋🏾♀️🤗🎉
It’s been a draining journey. I just found out I have cysts on my ovaries (causing the pain during intercourse and intense cramping during my period). It explained why I have chin and neck hair as well as extreme cravings at random times. So, I’ve been trying to find solutions to fight the cravings because I know how to cook healthy and eat healthy consistently BUT I can’t fight the physical cravings when they get really bad for no reason. That’s been the biggest and mentally draining problem.
Thank you so much for explaining this. I'm now starting my weight loss because I want to be a healthier and better person before I regret not doing anything in the future! Much love xx
it really does stink having been raised in a high carb home which can lead to insulin resistance. I've had a lot of these symptoms my whole life and only this year did I finally understand it's probably PCOS after my friend talked about her personal experience. I have had high testosterone on blood testing and a lot of the symptoms. The tough part about insulin resistance is fighting the hunger. Because it can make you stay so hungry for specifically carbs. It's so extremely depressing and tough to know that I need to lose weight to help but after trying and trying I just can't because I stay hungry all the time. I'll have some days I'm fine but then other days where I want to eat and eat and eat.
I agree that IMF or OMAD along with inclined treadmill walking has been the most effective for weight loss. I loveee volume eating. I do 1 or 2 large meals. Rest of the day I drink water, peppermint or ginger root tea, a smoothie, or have a serving of a glow glycemic index fruit along with some veggies if I get a little hungry.
I am a 12 year old who just found out I’m diagnosed with PCOS as it has been a huge struggle for me to loose weight and turns out there’s actually no cure that’d permanently cure PCOS but a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet could definitely help
Thank you so much for this video! 🙏 may GOD continue to bless you and also (dr iyaremoses) He cured me from PCOS & hypothyroidism! thank you doc#driyaremoses
I loved this video!! I am so so so sick of people on RUclips constantly going on and on about how it’s so hard to lose weight on PCOS and it’s such a pity and it’s not my fault blah blah. Like just give me actual advice rather than blabbering about how it’s hard. I been knew it’s hard.
My daughter developed PCOS symptoms with stay at home orders in 2020. She was in school track and in ballet for 8 years, dancing 15 hours a week and summers 40 hours a week. She went from being very active to sedentary. She started UC and the quality of food served on the meal plan was not healthy but without a kitchen she would have to eat at least 1-2 meals a day from the cafeteria. she went from being 120 to 150. PCOS has made weight loss very difficult. she has high testosterone, no regular periods only daily spotting for 1 year. she started ozempic to help her with insulin resistance. HELP she works out 3x per week and now lives of campus and has a kitchen, she now is eating balanced meals. weight gain has stoped and symptoms are more mild but no regular periods.
PCOS is the result of chronic hormone imbalance. Chronic hormone imbalance is most commonly caused by (1) chronic inflammation and (2) chronic elevated insulin levels. The most common *_root cause_* of chronic inflammation and elevated insulin levels is *chronic overconsumption of carbohydrates.* *Keep daily carb consumption below 20 total grams per day for six months to completely reverse PCOS* Supplementary information follows: ⚠️ *Moderate and high carb foods* ⚠️ • Bread, rice, grains, noodles 🍞🥖🍚🍜 • Candies, sweets, sugary drinks, alcohol 🍭🍰🧃🍺 • Vegetables 🥕🥔🌽🫑 • Fruits, fruit juice, honey 🍇🍌🍓🍯 • Milk, cream, yogurt 🥛 ✅ *Low carb foods* ✅ • Meat (unprocessed) 🍖🍗🥩🥓 • Sea food (unprocessed) 🐟🦀🦞🦐 • Eggs 🥚🍳 • Butter/Ghee 🧈 • Salt 🧂 • Water 💧 You do not have to restrict calories to reverse PCOS, just limit carbs. 🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨 Suddenly restricting carbohydrates will likely result in temporary, unpleasant carbohydrate withdrawals. It is similar to suddenly restricting caffeine or nicotine - expect headache, mood swings, cravings, low energy, disrupted sleep, etc. These symptoms are temporary and not dangerous. As with caffeine withdrawals, carbohydrate withdrawal symptoms will pass in three to nine days. 🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨 Suddenly increasing daily fat consumption may cause temporary diarrhea. This happens as a result of your gall bladder not producing enough bile to process the incoming fat. In this condition, the body simply evacuates the fat it cannot process which results in diarrhea. You gall bladder will begin to produce more bile over time and the diarrhea will pass. You can take Ox bile as a supplement if you want to reduce the severity of the transition phase. *Key point:* Keep your total daily carbs under 20g for six months and your PCOS will be resolved. Peace and love to all. ❤ Example meals: • Bacon (no added sugar) and eggs = 0 carbs. ✅ • Steamed shrimp with broccoli topped with melted butter and cheese = 7g carbs. ✅ Ribeyeb steak with buttered green beans = 7g carbs. ✅ • Small serving of rice with Salmon plus strawberries = 25g carbs ❌ Do you see how three full meals can have less carbs than one meal depending on what you eat? Rice, breads, grains, oats, fruits, and certain vegetables can be very high in carbohydrate. If you keep your carbs below 20 total grams per day for about six months, you will reverse PCOS. I can answer any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to ask.
Brazilian girl here! XOXO
This is what works for me. Intermittent fasting 11/12 to 7/8pm. I’m gluten free due to celiac but avoiding processed foods as much as possible helps so much. Working out is the game changer for me. Specifically a minimum of 4 one-hour intense weight or HIIT workouts combined with the stairmaster slims me like no other. Oddly, I maintain better when I walk daily for 20 minutes even if I only make it to the gym twice that week versus when I miss the daily walks.
I loveeeee how you explain this! I’ve been trying to understand what insulin resistance is in order to manage it so I can finally get healthy. Thank you for spreading this knowledge 🙏🏼❤️
I got diagnosed with pcos. I have severe acne since the age of 12. 2 years ago, I got seperated from my family for the very first time for a few months. I had moved to a different country. I don't know if that's what caused me to lose weight but I had lost 15 kg in 5 months. Probably because of stress or depression because I missed my family even though I didn't feel like I missed them. The first month when I moved I couldn't eat at all. I could even drink tea with no sugar which was not like me at all. I think that was because I lost appetite. Then I started to gain my appetite back and I ate a lot of unhealthy things, I ate cakes, cookies, chocolate bars, I drank a lot of soda daily and still I kept losing weight visibly. Even my family was shocked as they had never seen me that skinny. I was happy with my new body but I was also worrying about my period as it became irregular. After these 5 months I moved back to my country to my family and I gained more than my original weight back. When I was skinny I could fit into my very skinny sister's clothes. I was 69 kg but I could fit in my sister's 54 kg clothes. Everyone swore I weigh less than 69kg. But I think it was because of my height and bones.
I forgot to add, in these 5 months I had also got the covid for a week. I had lost my smell and taste. So I didn't touch food that much. I hated it for that one week. I drank water and ate one jar of grean peas daily in that week which also made me change my body and my face as well
I'm 21 years old and it has been a year now that I didn't have my menstrual cycle, I have been diagnosed with PCOS over that year and have all the signs, I have not been able to loose weight at all, and the doctors haven't helped me at all and just kept pushing me away saying that it is what it is, I have to deal with it and they can't do anything, also they told me it's something you are born with it but I just had the symptoms in the last two years and those have been more pronounced with time. I honestly am completely lost on what to do or how to choose wisely, since I'm not informed and doctors don't help me know more details about it. I just recently started doing more research but I'm afraid to mess up. It has affected my life a lot and quite frankly I'm living the opposite life that I had, I dropped out of college because of how complicated things can get emotionally and physically, I see myself every day going to worse and at this point I'm pretty much desperate as I have no one to talk to about it that can relate and there is just this huge gap in education of topics about ovaries and anything related to the female reproductive system. I give all my best wishes to everyone who is struggling as well 💖
Start hatha yoga.. Drink lots of water, get 7-8hrs sleep.. Walk daily for 30 min.. Get vitamin D(stay in the sun for 10 min anytime from 10am to 3pm).. Cut junk food completely.. Eat healthy home cooked food.. Eat more vegetables and fruits,, don't restrict ur calories too much..

Is it possible to have had PCOS and been permanently cured? I lost a lot of weight and went from having the physical symptoms to only having an ultrasound revealing lots of cysts. But then I became pregnant and ever since my ovaries and periods have been normal (well still very painful).
Yes!! With the weight loss you balanced your hormones and fixed the metabolic disorder so you no longer have PCOS! It can come back of course if you gain weight.
Thank you for your evidence-based and informative video! I especially liked the part about needing to give your guy bacteria plant-based foods to thrive.
Eating 1300 to 1200 not losing weight anymore. I am weighing and logging my food. Starting more cardio and weight lifting 40 more pounds to go it's discouraging when I am eating less and having to restrict compared to everyone around me. I eat well rounded foods. I have the most success on Keto around 40 carbs and under. Yes I eat plenty of vegetables, fruit I never cared about so I stick to berries. I don't eat added sugar, pasta, bread, desserts. If I am craving carbs potato is my go to. While I feel healthy I am tired of not losing weight after 2 months. Hopefully adding some more exercise will help otherwise I am out of ideas.
I have difficulties loosing weight in my waist area. I have a very wide waist 😔. I do exercises daily and my diet is also PCOS friendly. Have been trying to reduce waist size for 3 years now.
There’s no way to spot reduce fat unfortunately. Sometimes there are things in your diet that can make you a little bloated. It’s different for everyone. For me it’s instant noodles. For my friend it’s nightshade veggies like tomatoes, bell pepper. I recommend my patients keep a food diary to see if any particular foods affect them!
Have you ever tried natural herbal medications! It worked for me cleared out everything lost 60pounds in the space of 3weeks with no side effects whatsoever with the help of DR MABOSA HERBAL on RUclips I'm a living testimony
The only thing that has worked for me has been low carb. I had been working around different caloric deficits for years and it was always painstakingly slow - 1kg loss per month. Caloric deficit + Low Carb has been the way to go for me.
Amazing video and explanation. I’ve had PCOS for like 8 years now and I never really understood it. One question, can you explain exactly what a calorie deficit is?
@@drjennale So i got so desperate with trying to lose weight I went to a dietician to figure out my goals. She said my goal caloric intake a day should be 1200-1300, does that mean when I am doing physical activity I should be burning more than 1200 if that’s what I am eating everyday?
😱 that is so low! That is how much a toddler needs to eat in a day. I have recent videos on my page on how to calculate calorie needs and increase metabolism. Check those out. It’s likely that your nutritionist already putting you at a severe calorie deficit to lose weight.
Aahhhh i have been trying to lose for 5 months and ive only lost 5kg and it fluctuates. Sometimes i would gain back 2 kg then lose 1kg but i would not lose more than that and i feel frustrated 😩 im gonna try again after watching this vid
I build muscle fast, but my belly is my problem along with huritism and thinning hair. I am type 2 diabetic. I walk around 60 miles a week and eat tons of vegetables low carb no red meat or pork. Still have issues with my weight. This condition really sucks! 😞 Not even mentioning the mood swings.
I have pcos, I’m in the first stages of fatty liver, male hair growth and infertility. I eat very healthy but cannot exercise due to disk problems in my back. I’d give anything to feel good about myself again.
You deserve to be happy lovely soul...I can feel you because I have also kidney failure except of pcos. But each night after I cry I am again thankful to be still alive even though with such problems. We will do it! Life its not food or appearance but love and appreciation. I hug you❤ and I wish you have people around you to love you❤
So, I know this is an old video and you might not check the comments, but thanks for the clarity. I'm 17 and it's highly likely that I have PCOS (although it hasn't been officially diagnosed) and the reason why I know is because my mom has it and I have a lot of the symptoms. I'm overweight and have been for a good couple of years, but these past 4 months I've been in a calorie deficit and determined to shed the weight and have a healthier lifestyle. I lost 11.5kg so far and have another 12 to go, but my mom told me I would not be able to reach my goal weight because she said she tried and hit a point where she could not lose more weight. Is that even scientifically possible? I mean, I shouldn't let it get to me, but it's just wormed it's way into my thoughts ever since and it's been pretty disheartening, especially because my own weight hasn't budged in a while...
hey, i hope you are well. I totally understand you, I have also been diagnosed with PCOS and I'm almost halfway through my weight loss BUT you MOST CERTAINLY will lose that extra 12kg. Don't be discouraged. This is literally your experience and your body; only you can reach it. Just make sure you're not consuming any sugar and jump on the Stairmaster for 40 mins and I promise you, you'll lose that weight. I wish you all the best!
6:03 CICO does bring results however low carb seems like the most effective diet because carbohydrates spike blood sugar, and overconsumption of carbohydrates creates insulin resistance.
Wouldn't the weight training be bad with the high levels of testosterone? This is a great video. I was diagnosed with PCOS and adenomyosis. Most of the stuff they told me was in one ear out the other. I recently had bloods done all good except cholesterol was elevated. I also have type 2 diabetes. And I had a 24 hour urine test for cortisol.. all came back good. My dr just told me to eat salads. And see how I go. My problem is portion control. I love a big plate of food. I blame my mama she was always making sure we had over the top foods at meal time. Any tips for not going over the desired amount of food.
Same here. Try a big plate of salad before you eat. Low carb dressing like blue cheese. Do a 150 minutes of cardio a week. Yoga or body exercise. Remember we have high testosterone weight lifing bulks me especially at the top so I lift one a week lower body. Calisthenics upper body. Track carbs..150 gram of carbs a day and try to lower gradually. This is tough for me cause i crave carbs especially when i am stress out. Take it a day at a time. Fatsecret is a good app to track intake.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 16 and I’m in my mid twenties, and just now I am being told about ways to combat this condition. Also, I’m now seeing a hormone therapist to assist with my symptoms, would you recommend that?
Sometimes I get confuse on what to eat, get so tired to even get up from my bed , hair under jaw this gives me headache 😢 and get fat every now and then …. I wish there are groups , forum ,podcast where everyone with PCOS come life and share their experiences, that will be spirit uplifting 😢😢😢
Thanks for this video when I started experiencing not seeing my period in 2020 and was told I had PCOS with speed I came on RUclips to get a better knowledge of lifestyle to manage and get back on live my normal where I can eat whatever I want the way I want them , There was no video this detailed as this
PCOS is the result of chronic hormone imbalance.
Will your stress hormones not rise when you don’t eat enough when IF? I hardly believe that when you have an active lifestyle that 1200 cals is enough. Some meals that are highly inflammatory are lower in cals than their healthier counterparts. Is it really all about cals? Cals say very little about nutrients…. A bit skeptical here but I love to hear other opinions. 😊
True.... I tried this and even less listening all those people who just Say : If You eat less is imposibile to not lose weight. Well not only îs possible but eatting less can rise your cortisol and make You gain more weight
11:40 Why would I make myself weaker if I'm not going to lose weight? The problem I have with PCOS is that it makes me fat and more likely to get some diseases. I don't care about facial hair and being more fertile and making kids. I'm not trying to apple to society's standards of femininity in just tired of being fat.
I never recommended getting weaker. The science supports a combination of resistance training and cardio for weight loss. The goal is actually to get stronger!
From the research studies I have been reading, D-chiro inositol does play a roll working with insulin and estrogen but it does not seem to affect the actual differentiation of adipose tissue (aka cause fat loss). www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8042392/
From the article linked: “In conclusion, this work shows that D-Chiro-Ins plays a direct role in the differentiation and in the function of human adipocytes, where it synergizes with insulin and estrogen through the recruitment of signal transduction pathways involved in lipid and glucose storage. These findings give clear insights to better understand the actions of D-Chiro-Ins on fat metabolism in women in physiology and in a variety of diseases.”
“D-Chiro-Ins does not modify adipocytes viability or proliferation, while it regulates the differentiation of preadipocytes into mature adipocytes. D-Chiro-Ins acts on the accumulation of lipids and on the number and size of lipid droplets in the later stages of adipocyte differentiation, when SGBS cells reach a white adipose tissue phenotype, with preadipocytes and brown/beige adipocytes not being affected by D-Chiro-Ins.”
Thank you a lot doctor, as a fellow medical student Im confused if I should use birth control pills. My doctor said it would help me lose weight since it helps regulate my hormones but since it doesn't help insulin resistance I don't see how it can help lose weight. Birth controls generally do the opposite effect
I restrict and I don’t care if I want the food even more. I’m capable of resisting and having willpower. Also, low calorie food is good. I only eat once or twice a day too.
The ONLY thing working for me is intermittent fasting according to my cycle. The last week before period I back off the fasting and allow more carbs for progesterone production. But NOT eating in the evenings once its dark outside has been a gamechanger.
I need some advice. I haven’t been diagnosed with PCOS, But I have everything from seeing my period 3 to 4 times a year and the facial hair under my chin which is very thick and becomes ingrowns. The calories I intake are very low and are usually starchy meals. With that being said even though it’s technically a calorie deficit I never lose weight. I know it’s unhealthy but I don’t have much support in my household which causes me to eat 2 meals with bigger portions and starchy options. I was just hoping to know if that’s why I haven’t lost any weight or if it’s just because my body continues to store it??
I had my second child 4 months ago and I’m currently breastfeeding. I know it’s harder to gain muscle while breastfeeding but it’s been hard to drop this baby weight this time around
Would you still say that it is important to limit certain foods that can lead to pcos flare ups? While also not restricting yourself? Maybe a balance between the two? I just got a diagnosis this past week 😢so I’m trying to figure all this stuff out thx for making this video!
Hi Jenny Le I have a question about the point you made discussing benefits of cardio v weight training. If we do cardio and burn calories doesn't that help with the calorie deficit? You mentioned that when doing cardio it will make us hungrier preventing a calorie deficit.
Every time I go to a gynecologist, they give me pills that work for 3-6 months (which is the time it takes for the treatment) and when the treatment stops, everything goes back to the start point. It doesn’t work. I’m tired of drinking pills.
I currently lost 20lbs so far but feel like I’m at a plateau. I’m incorporating more fiber and fruits and veggies and trying to walk everyday after dinner along with the gym to see if that’ll be better
I have every single symptom of pcos but my mom has refused to get me diagnosed. She's really big on self diagnosing so she doesn't have to actually get me the help I need since it'll demand more of her personal time.
Let me know if you have any other questions! Next video will be about PCOS and Infertility.
Super excited #Doctorojie cured my hsv I promised to share your good work to the whole world .
hey! i realize this is a month late and i’m sorry but i was just diagnosed with pcos, i’m 14 turning 15 & i was wondering how can you manage acne, specifically body acne? i feel like nothing works for me
This is a late comment but hoping for some luck.
Doctors are the worst. They're necessary and we need them. But they are basically just paid to prescribe more drugs not treat the root cause
First I'd recommend having ACV at hand. It helps me with my Blood Sugar spikes and cutting on carbs by using "keto" friendly options ❤ good luck mama ❤❤❤
Pd: SPEARMINT tea for the Unwanted hair growth. It severely helped my hair thickness but I still grow hair. I take it 2-3 times a day ❤
Thank you for sharing your experience of having PCOS. You should always follow proper medical advice and do your own research on reputable cites):
- Cutting down on dairy was one of the best things I’ve ever done.
Sorry that this comment has gone on forever, but I really hope this advice might help someone : )
I didn’t do all of this overnight, I implemented things over a few years and slowly built up to my routine now. If you change or add one thing to your lifestyle once a month, think what you’ll achieve in a year.
Be safe, be healthy and be happy with who you are ❤️
False information. Raw, organic dairy is fine. Calcium is important. Carbs do not turn into insulin…WTH? Nonsense.
Thnak you for sharing this!
Wow you deserve heaven for this one. Thank you!
Thank you🙏
Wow, thank you for sharing this. I'd love to hear more about the supplements you mentioned.
why cant i just be like other girls. why do i have to deprive myself of food just to combat something i didn’t ask for or do anything to deservex
I feel the same
You shouldn’t have to deprive yourself at all
Completely feel the same!
I feel the same... Why me? Why I have to suffer like this??
Feel the same it pains me delt with it my whole life
After digging through YT i have finally had success with 30+ grams of protein in the morning, ceylon cinnamon, berberine, myo-inosotol and magnesium glyceinate....I also do a 10mins walk after eating (or march in place if i don't want to go out)...slow weighted workouts and 12-3-30 treadmill workouts..... it's been really helpful to learn so much.
Same same. I'm like a les mills gym fanatic and eat right but boom last two years weight gain made me look like a liar 😂
Yesss
Thank you for this video! I’m 24 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS. I’ve struggled with my weight, acne, access hair, irregular periods, anxiety and depression since I was 13… it’s always been hard for me to stick to a diet bc food….I’m working on making better choices without restricting myself and being more active!
This is me as well I am 25 years old
@elizabeth winpigler I’m going through the same exact thing.
This is me I'm 24 as well
@@okamiamaterasu5416 I have those dark patches between my thighs and around my neck. And I was also Endometrial hyperplasia, which is related to PCOS. Ugh 😣 I tried not to cry on the inside.
same. food is delicious!
Aww thank you 🥰
Agreed!
Agree also thanks
I am so happy to see someone talk about PCOS in just an informative way and explaining how everything works. I'm 17 and recently got diagnosed with PCOS, at some point I thought it was hopeless to lose weight but I'm grateful to have reached this video. It has regained my motivation and hope once again.
Can we lose weight with pcos with proper deit and exercise, but majority of people saying we can't lose it
Have lost 32 pounds so far. I’m so happy my hair is growing, regained a regular period and my acne is improving greatly.
hello so happy for your progress ! May I know how long it took for you to lose weight?
@@upamarcrds Hello sorry I just saw this. I believe it took about 3 months to lose that weight in total. Before I saw any weight loss though I regained my period and had 3 cycles before the weight started coming off.

Update?
When I was 21 yrs of age I lost 90lbs in 3 months. The best thing for PCOS is a treadmill and small meals of mostly healthy foods. This is just my opinion
How long on the treadmill?
@@juli006 do walks, (incline burns more cals) 150 mins per week is a good goal to aim for
@@ashham8859 Yup!
U we’re also young
Oh wait, L-Carnitine, and Epicatichins, myoinositol are supplements made for PCOS. I have been researching this for 2 years now.
I do fitness and nutrition coaching and just got my first client with PCOS, this was super helpful! 🙏🏼
I’m a dietitian who happens to have PCOS and loved this video so much. Wish I had a doctor like you ❤
I have to admit I’ve tried increasing protein and it just didn’t really work for me. What works for me: limiting calories (within reason) rather than constantly overeating. Not stressing out about specific macros.
I have PCOS and lost 73 lbs (from 179 lbs to 106 lbs). Yes. It is possible.
hooooow HELP!!
That’s amazing!! Keep up the good work 💪🏽
Thank you so much for this video! 🙏 may GOD continue to bless you and also (dr iyaremoses) He cured me from PCOS & hypothyroidism! thank you doc#driyaremoses
what method worked for you for weight loss? if you don’t mind me asking :)
please share how.

Family medicine physician here myself and also diagnosed with PCOS. Thanks for your video Dr. Le.
I decided to just anticipate the cravings. Prepare healthy sweets, use an air fryer for crunchy sensation. And potatoes are actually an awesome food.
💞Its really a great time knowing DR RORPOPOR HERBAL Am happy that he never failed me Today am happy That have been tested negative from PCOS
I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing! It is so hard to find doctors that take the time to explain it!

How’s your daughter now?
PCOS is the result of chronic hormone imbalance.
Chronic hormone imbalance is most commonly caused by (1) chronic inflammation and (2) chronic elevated insulin levels.
The most common *_root cause_* of chronic inflammation and elevated insulin levels is *chronic overconsumption of carbohydrates.*
*Keep daily carb consumption below 20 total grams per day for six months to completely reverse PCOS*
Supplementary information follows:
⚠️ *Moderate and high carb foods* ⚠️
• Bread, rice, grains, noodles 🍞🥖🍚🍜
• Candies, sweets, sugary drinks, alcohol 🍭🍰🧃🍺
• Vegetables 🥕🥔🌽🫑
• Fruits, fruit juice, honey 🍇🍌🍓🍯
• Milk, cream, yogurt 🥛
✅ *Low carb foods* ✅
• Meat (unprocessed) 🍖🍗🥩🥓
• Sea food (unprocessed) 🐟🦀🦞🦐
• Eggs 🥚🍳
• Butter/Ghee 🧈
• Salt 🧂
• Water 💧
You do not have to restrict calories to reverse PCOS, just limit carbs.
🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨
Suddenly restricting carbohydrates will likely result in temporary, unpleasant carbohydrate withdrawals.
🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨
Suddenly increasing daily fat consumption may cause temporary diarrhea.
*Key point:*
Keep your total daily carbs under 20g for six months and your PCOS will be resolved.
Peace and love to all. ❤
Example meals:
• Bacon (no added sugar) and eggs = 0 carbs. ✅
• Steamed shrimp with broccoli topped with melted butter and cheese = 7g carbs. ✅
Ribeyeb steak with buttered green beans = 7g carbs. ✅
• Small serving of rice with Salmon plus strawberries = 25g carbs ❌
Do you see how three full meals can have less carbs than one meal depending on what you eat?
Oddly, I maintain better when I walk daily for 20 minutes even if I only make it to the gym twice that week versus when I miss the daily walks.
you were super knowledgeable and truly gave me hope that I can live an healthy and balanced lifestyle again, thank you! 💚✨
I loveeeee how you explain this! I’ve been trying to understand what insulin resistance is in order to manage it so I can finally get healthy. Thank you for spreading this knowledge 🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for this video. I have PCOS and this really helps
So glad I could help ❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I know it's older but at least i have a confirmed direction of what I need to do! Thank you!
I drank water and ate one jar of grean peas daily in that week which also made me change my body and my face as well
I love the restriction thing. I struggle with binging. I eat so healthy 5/7 days but those 2 days? Ill go crazy.
Good luck finding a doctor that isn’t garbage
diagnosed with pcos. current weight is 240 pounds, i am truly at a loss of what to do with myself but trying my hardest to stay hopeful.
all i want is to lose the weight. i would be so happy if i did.

@@mvp777777777 Thank you for sharing this with me ❤️ it does help a lot
It took me two years to go from 171 lbs to 157lb. All I did is, 12k daily steps, reduce stress, increase protein intake and slow weighted workout.
I’m back. I changed my diet, lost 42 pounds. I still have to lose more. I eat between 1000-1200 calories per day.
With pcos it takes longer 😭 it took me 7 months to see results keep going you will eventually see results
It took me three months to only lose 6 pounds 😢 I did cardio , lifting and also changed my diet. Unfortunately I gave up but I’m trying to go back now
Enjoyed this video. Very informative Doctor. Love from 🇵🇭
Thank you so much for this video!! It was so informational and amazing I really appreciate it
Thanks for watching!
Still thinking about the pink elephant 🧐 🤣 but this video is fantastic !!

Caloric deficit = Calorie in (things we eat and drink) less than calories out (calories used to live, during exercise, etc)
Wow what a wonderful video for information and weight loss and inspiration.. thank you!!!
I was diagnosed with pcos a year ago, my weight is such a huge struggle and I didn’t even know the cause of it, thank you for this information ❤
@@N0rrel Thanks for the encouragement! ☺
6:03 CICO does bring results however low carb seems like the most effective diet because carbohydrates spike blood sugar, and overconsumption of carbohydrates creates insulin resistance.
I’m so tired 😩😩this was veryyy helpful but I’m exhausted from this
Wouldn't the weight training be bad with the high levels of testosterone?
So informative and useful! Thank you for this 💕
I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 16 and I’m in my mid twenties, and just now I am being told about ways to combat this condition. Also, I’m now seeing a hormone therapist to assist with my symptoms, would you recommend that?

Thanks for this video when I started experiencing not seeing my period in 2020 and was told I had PCOS with speed I came on RUclips to get a better knowledge of lifestyle to manage and get back on live my normal where I can eat whatever I want the way I want them , There was no video this detailed as this
PCOS is the result of chronic hormone imbalance.
Chronic hormone imbalance is most commonly caused by (1) chronic inflammation and (2) chronic elevated insulin levels.
The most common *_root cause_* of chronic inflammation and elevated insulin levels is *chronic overconsumption of carbohydrates.*
*Keep daily carb consumption below 20 total grams per day for six months to completely reverse PCOS*
Supplementary information follows:
⚠️ *Moderate and high carb foods* ⚠️
• Bread, rice, grains, noodles 🍞🥖🍚🍜
• Candies, sweets, sugary drinks, alcohol 🍭🍰🧃🍺
• Vegetables 🥕🥔🌽🫑
• Fruits, fruit juice, honey 🍇🍌🍓🍯
• Milk, cream, yogurt 🥛
✅ *Low carb foods* ✅
• Meat (unprocessed) 🍖🍗🥩🥓
• Sea food (unprocessed) 🐟🦀🦞🦐
• Eggs 🥚🍳
• Butter/Ghee 🧈
• Salt 🧂
• Water 💧
You do not have to restrict calories to reverse PCOS, just limit carbs.
🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨
Suddenly restricting carbohydrates will likely result in temporary, unpleasant carbohydrate withdrawals.
🚨 *NOTICE* 🚨
Suddenly increasing daily fat consumption may cause temporary diarrhea.
Rice, breads, grains, oats, fruits, and certain vegetables can be very high in carbohydrate.
If you keep your carbs below 20 total grams per day for about six months, you will reverse PCOS.
I can answer any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to ask.
Thank you so much Jenny ❤
thank you for the very informative video
Super helpful! I enjoyed your video!
Girl where can I get the tomato seaweed recipe? Those looks so good and healthy
I lost my body to pcos at 14 and will never own it again. I have totally given up! I am officially a man!
Thank you so much for this video! It was very informative:)
Thank you so much! This really helps :). I also read a lot about taking D-chiro inositol. Do you have any experience with this?
Super excited #Doctorojie cured my hsv I promised to share your good work to the whole world .
Wow great video, thank you!! ❤
Thank you! This helped alot
Thank you a lot doctor, as a fellow medical student Im confused if I should use birth control pills. My doctor said it would help me lose weight since it helps regulate my hormones but since it doesn't help insulin resistance I don't see how it can help lose weight. Birth controls generally do the opposite effect
Thank you so much for this! I'm an active person and love exercise, but for the past 7 years, I keep being the fattest I've ever been.
Don’t stress about it too much it’s also extremely extremely difficult to loose fat but build muscle, they are the opposite thing
I heard intermittent fasting causes stress on our bodies and makes us produce more cortisol so should be avoided for pcos?
Jesus everything is bad for PCOS at this point 😭😖😣😔
Would you still say that it is important to limit certain foods that can lead to pcos flare ups? While also not restricting yourself? Maybe a balance between the two? I just got a diagnosis this past week 😢so I’m trying to figure all this stuff out thx for making this video!
Hello Dr thanks for sharing this important info 🙋♀️❤️
Hi Jenny Le I have a question about the point you made discussing benefits of cardio v weight training. If we do cardio and burn calories doesn't that help with the calorie deficit? You mentioned that when doing cardio it will make us hungrier preventing a calorie deficit.
Thank you doctor!! ❤
Every time I go to a gynecologist, they give me pills that work for 3-6 months (which is the time it takes for the treatment) and when the treatment stops, everything goes back to the start point. It doesn’t work. I’m tired of drinking pills.
ovasitol has helped me to calm my hormonal imbalances. i’ve lost 60 pounds so far 🙏🏾
Are there any side effects?
personally, i haven’t had any. just weight lose, a better mood.
Thank you for the video. What is a good Synbiotic supplementation to purchase?

I agree I was on keto, low carb and then started binging
I currently lost 20lbs so far but feel like I’m at a plateau. I’m incorporating more fiber and fruits and veggies and trying to walk everyday after dinner along with the gym to see if that’ll be better
I have every single symptom of pcos but my mom has refused to get me diagnosed. She's really big on self diagnosing so she doesn't have to actually get me the help I need since it'll demand more of her personal time.
This is helpful.
