    Hell, a shot to the arm or leg can still kill you in as little as 90 seconds depending on where the bullet lands. Between bullet penetration making finding realistic cover so difficult, the sheer number of bullets flying in most movie shootouts, and how well trained most henchmen are supposed to be within their own universe most action heroes really shouldn't make it past the first fight scene.

    alot of these cases seem to ignore the psychology of the goons. If you are caught off guard and see a dude mow through 10 of your best friends, panic is going to set in for at least half of them. If anything most fight scenes should end at the halfway mark with the minions deciding that they aren't getting paid enough to fight sgt. body blender and just leave.

      Former russian mercenary here. First of all, you can hide quite well from a sniper as long as you know his position (which doesn't make an interaction less terrifying but yes). Predictability of a drone attack depends on a type of said drone but usually you can prevent getting killed by moving under the trees in very stretched groups (9 meters is a certain death range of a "ВОГ" grenade). Obviously, modern warfare IS very luck based - you can be an expert shooter with the most expensive gear imaginable and face your demise by the hands of random-ass enemy mortar operator which tried to hit your allies' tank 600 meters away from you but missed dramatically. But! Many deaths and heavy injuries still could be avoided just by following orders and knowing basics of military tactic. If you don't use your head much most likely you will lose it sooner or later.
      Speaking of what's the most terrifying thing in a war I'll say - anything that makes long and loud sound by flying in your general direction whether it be enemy fighterbomber, an artillery or tank shell. You can hear that thing coming but no one can tell whether it'll tear you apart in the next moment or not. It's the symphony of death, the one that gave our most famous PMC its nickname "the orchestra".

      @plasmaxl8626 Год назад +3

      @retsaM innavoiG not really, pistols are extremely hard to aim, especially at a moving target (its not really their ballistic accuracy, simply user accuracy) although i think its more realistic to say 30 feet

    • @herrfantastisch7489
      @herrfantastisch7489 Год назад +6

      @retsaM innavoiG It is an exaggeration. Most pistols are accurate up to 150 feet, some even more. It comes down to the shooter. If your hand is shaky and full of adrenaline, then your accuracy might take a huge drop. If the shooter can remain calm with a good chunk of training, their accuracy is going to be far better than 10 feet.
      Of course, we need to account the human eye too, and possibly an optic. If a handgun has a magnifying optic, then it’s not unrealistic to be accurate up to that ideal 150 feet. With an iron sight alone, you can probably expect 50 feet with a trained eye.
      Quick edit: A magnifying optic more in the category of a scope. Something like 8x. An optic that’s 3.5x or the such will probably net you a good 80 feet of accuracy. It’d make more sense to put a scope on a revolver as well than say, a Glock lmao

    Bad guys can only hit their targets when the plot demands they do. I just watched the 4th episode of the Mandalorian last night, and it had a flashback of order 66 from Baby Yoda’s eyes. The 501st troopers that Darth Vader brought to the Jedi Temple were able to easily Gun down 4 random Jedi, even one throwing herself into the elevator that Baby Yoda’s pram had just floated into, her couldn’t hit baby Yoda’s slow moving ass.
    And then, when another Jedi picks baby Yoda up and starts flying him away on a speeder, two of the clone gun ships give chase. INSTANTLY one of the gun ships manages to score a direct hit on the engine of the speeder bike, but instead of blowing up the bike or at the very least completely disabling it, it just “slows the bike down”
    Well, you’d assume that with the bike now a lot slower, less maneuverable, and with the marksmanship of the gunner that just took out the engine effortlessly, that baby Yoda and the Jedi driving would be sitting ducks and dead rapidly after, right? Nope!! From then on, the lasers from the clones come NOWHERE NEAR the fleeing Jedi and baby Yoda on their unstable bike.
    The bad guys are only allowed to hit their shots when the plot demands it, or when the hero is LITERALLY bullet proof (like in the Luke Cage Netflix series)

    My cousin was in Iraq and Afghanistan for years. He told me that he never saw the guys that were shooting at him. As soon as he aimed at a muzzle flash, the gunfire was coming from somewhere else. He only fired his rifle 2 or 3 times over there. He was a photographer and even shot some of the footage for the Restrepo and Korengal documentaries. We come from a family that has served in nearly every war the US has participated in, even going back to the Revolutionary War. I think it messed him up. The Middle East wasn’t a war, not really. He was a drunkard for a long time after he got out.

    I think a relatively accurate depiction of a gun fight where a man is out numbered would be the last fight scene in Rambo last blood. Rambo knows he isn't made of steel. So instead he utilizes gorilla warfare tactics to dispatch a platoon size group of arm cartels. From the traps, to stealth, and knowing the layout of his underground bunker. It would be a much higher probability of survival, as opposed to the gun-foo or body builder muscles to protect an individual.

Only being saved because apparently mob guys like ugly women, and their own guy turned on them.

    Backup can't be strategic, allies can. Backup is a term belonging to tactics.
    A tactic is the methodology of approaching a situation and is, in military terms, dependent on and linked to two other factors: Materiel and training.
    An operation is the framework around a situation, how you approach solving a problem, what means you employ and when.
    A strategy is choosing your situation.
    For example, a master tactician beats Magnus Carlsson at chess. A master strategist plays badminton instead.

    One thing you missed is how big of a difference there is between the accuracy of a pistol and a rifle. Jerry Miculik (spelling?) Is an amazing shooting god who could probably out shoot John Wick, but if he had a .38 special and I had an AR 15 I'm pretty sure I could out shoot him at 100+ meters. Put me against any mortal non Jerry man and I'd feel very confident that I could out shoot 99.999% of humanity if they had a pistol and I had a rifle at any range over 20 meters.

    • @bigmekboy175

      @paddy9738 I was talking about shooting accuracy. Yes if a good shooter takes the time to aim and shoots at me from behind with a pistol at 50 meters or less then yes I'm probably toast. In most action movies you don't usually have the heroes shooting every one of the thugs in the back. I have however seen bad guys armed with assault rifles getting sniped from roof tops by heroes with tiny little pistols. I was mechanized infantry for 6 years and I see a lot of movie sins that drive me nuts. My biggest pet peeve is how everyone shoots their assault rifles on full auto. Sorry for going on a tangent but I spent 18 months in Iraq and never once switched my rifle to burst/auto. Amateurs spray and pray, professionals aim and actually hit their targets!

    • @paddy9738
      @paddy9738 Год назад

      @@bigmekboy175 Use of full auto is mostly useful for intimidation, plus in movies it makes for a good audio/visual spectacle. Most pistols can actually be deadly accurate out around 150 yards, most meaning roughly from the Glock 19 and those of other makes and models fitting the same overall size/barrel length. Elmer Keith used .44 Special and then Magnum revolvers as hunting weapons at similar rangers and those were mostly 4 inch barreled as I recall. Shooting accuratly at range with pistols is absolutely possible the movies just don't put any effort into selling it wth proper weapons that would need to be made with adjustable sights to be used at those ranges.
      The tangent on Elmer Keith was just about how anyone who truly wants to shoot handguns at range will teach themselves how to.

    • @bigmekboy175
      @bigmekboy175 Год назад

      @paddy9738 I've seen people shoot at those extreme WTF ranges before (he actually hit a wounded deer at 650 yards which boggles my mind) and they require certain poses, usually at least 2-3 ranging shots, and time to achieve. Meanwhile I can reliably hit 300 meter targets with no scope, no sand bags, and only about 2-3 seconds to aim about 80% of the time with an AR style rifle. Give me an Acog sight and suddenly things get easy. Basically my point is that the rifle makes me the equal or near equal of a shooting God without the decades of insane practice and im just a decent shot. My statement about being more accurate than 99.99% of handgun shooters while weilding an assault rifle still stands.

    With the mini gun from red, mounts like that allow you to lock the gun's rotational axis to help improve shot accuracy. If he locked the vertical axis, the car would lean in the other direction, lifting the barrel due to recoil. The obvious solution would then seem to be burst firing, but doing so jams the gun as it isn't meant for short repeated bursts typically. For this reason, other more practical weapons tend to be favorable.
