Ha Josh, I love the idea of the bed liner look, but please take a bit of advice from someone that learned the hard way, put a little headache rack on there to protect that back glass , we love the channel , keep building 👍
switching the hydraulic lines may have helped because the may be a flow restriction on 1 side to slow the drop of the bed. Also, may want to check the pressure relief setting on the pump as it may be set lower then needed. Last, the heavier the load is to the front of the bed, the harder it is to lift.
You could get a headache rack built that's removable so you could put it on your bed while hauling firewood to protect rear window then remove it for shows
BTW that cummins sounds amazing. Little off topic. Your video just reminded me of all the good memories I had with my Dad (recently passed away) chopping and stacking wood. Good good memories. Thank for reminding me. I really needed this. Keep up the great content. Absolutely love the channel.
@@TruckMaster mad respect. You and your wife absolutely made my day with this video. Again thank you for reminding me of those wonderful memories of my Dad and I.
It makes sense to go ahead and bedline it for what you're using it for and I like the old school bullet hole Wheels! That's an old school truck it belongs with old school Wheels.
I love your idea for bedlinning the whole thing. I've had 3 trucks all bedined (black, red, and gray) the red one looked terrible but that's from the bad body shop guy. I've been considering doing my current 01 LB7 in color match charcoal too.
My 01 has a Northern Tool dump kit, biggest issue I had was the hinge brackets broke, but that was my fault. Also just a FYI, if you bed line it, depends what you want to dump, the material might not slide out as easy. I mainly use it for gravel and most of it will slide out until the very last bunch, then I have to sweep it down the bed.
I have the same dump kit on a 2006 Lbz long bed, I laid a plate of 1/4" plate in the bed and welded a gooseneck ball on it. I cut a small hole in the bed and welded the lift to the plate to stop bed flex. It works good.
My cousin done basically the same with a gasser 1 ton older Ford he build a steel flatbed with board sides he cuts it, and has the hydraulic lift. But he uses the bucket on his tractor to load it, that way no more back breaking work . Cuts and splits in the woods, loads the tractor and uses it to load the truck and on the last trip on the truck. Loads the tractor on his trailer takes it home unloads and he's done. Basically not picking up a stick of wood, again he's like you heating his home and his shop with the outside furnace.
We have a Vevor 1.78 GMP electric hydraulic power unit. On that pump, Port A is 3,500 psi and port B is 1,500 psi. Port A would go to the lifting (extending) side of the ram and port B would be for your contracting side. Your power unit looks identical to ours just smaller and I am betting you just had hoses backwards on your set up, or possibly it could have been the muffler bearings!! 😁👊🏻
It’s the only way I like a cheap plastic bed liner; gravel and firewood slide awesome!! My dually would lift 3800#s of gravel loaded towards the back, 4000 and I shoveled😅
Try adding some Caterpillar anti stiction fluid into the hydraulic fluid. That may help prevent it from doing it again also. Something you can add to the hydraulic fluid reservoir on an 5th wheel to help prevent the leveling system from popping and settling down over time.
You’ve got relief valves and the one for the down was tighter than the bottom up valve so you should be able to adjust relief valves and switch lines back and take care of it… hope that helps
Okay Josh, like you said, it’s your truck so you can do what you want…true statement. I think the truck looks great just like it sits. I’d rather see you apply your time and talent on the Wifemax.
I found one of them lifts brand new in the box for a hundred bucks at a garage sale it was for a dodge but I put it on a totalled out ford box I made into a trailer it lifts anything I've put in it so far I've had it for 15 to 20 years now so yours might have had air in it , putting the hoses on backwards would of just made the switch backward I'd say air locked but it's looks like it's working great now
I bought a used slide in hay bales mover that goes in the back of a truck. It has had great power lifting a bale up. And with all the weight of a bale going down is almost instant. I had problems with my title switch remote. After taking it out for inspection I noticed 2 wires broken and not connected to switch anymore. After installing switch with repaired connectors I discovered the machine now doesn't how down gravity type way it actually has down force now. Probably equal to up force..
just a thought on the bed liner. after you spray it let it dry for a few hours then clear coat it with a few coats, it will help. do yourself a favor. you will be happy!
Switch the wires on the sollinoids on your hydraulic pump and see if that doesn’t make the up and down buttons function as they should. I’m not saying it will work but it might be something to try.
Switch lines back if the wire was loose pretty sure it cause you weak operation so make sure all connection are tight. If it does it again just switch the solenoid itself. Good luck brother enjoy your videos.
And i Loaded the Wife!!!! sounds so mean ! with much laughter here !that was funny to me! she is so beautiful & not big at all! Any lady to come out & be a part of your world is a true Blessing! Merry Christmas to you all! You both have brought many laughs & great entertainment all year ! thank you both !
I love that you are lining it I had my 06 dmax linexed... great way to make them tuff... curious if u r gonna line the frame or paint it? Either way cool build....
Dear truck master you make great videos and I’ve been watching and learning about pickups I’ve known a a lot more than I used to about them may you please keep doing videos on gmcs and Chevys and power stokes, Cummins thank you truckmaster
I’m getting my lbz frame sand blasted and wanted your option on power coating the frame or painting it how you panting your Cummins frame. I live in pa so the snow and salt is my concern. I want to do something that will last a long time. Thanks and love the videos
Awsome and who cares if it doesn't make financial sense. If it makes you happy and it's not hurting anyone then why not. Looking forward to seeing the transformation.
Does the dump system have a check valve in it? With lines being backwards that’s the only reason I could see why the bed would drift down. Did the system come with a hydraulic schematic you could show?
bed line it so i know how itll look when i eventually redo my 01 lol, its rusted to hell. actually looked about the same as that truck when you first got it
My old 06 cummins was red and I had it done color matched and it looked terrible but that's because the body guy was 2nd rate. My other two trucks looked pretty good bedlined. One black and one gray.
With this kit installed, can you still tow something heavy behind your truck with original towing kit? Or you have to modify the towing kit to make it work?
I got a 2013 Chevy 2500hd, I bought some wheels n tires that are 8x6.5, found out my truck was 8x180. My question is are wheel adapters safe? I do haul heavy loads with the truck ( gooseneck, bumper pull, etc) thanks
I'd say powder coat or Cerakote the bed, but you don't have an oven that big. I had a dump trailer with elec/hydraulic pump similar. The wiring on your dump motor looks very small, like for a 120v application. Either add a battery in parallel next to the pump or rerun an 8awg amp wire from under the hood to the pump, same for the ground cable. Either way upgrade the wiring. Get some nice crimp terminals, maybe stainless or gold plate. Run the bed up and down under load and grab the wires. If those little wires are hot then that's the culprit. If u got an amp clamp u can check it easily since it's DC. Agreed with repainting the frame. It seems any color besides black on a frame looks like shit. Use that tamco your friend used on his truck
Dude. Go to Harbor Freight Freight buy a Cargo BED UNROLL CARPET CRANK. LIKE $50.00. Best tool for firewood. Too easy. My kid unrolled 2 yards of sand out in 55 seconds.

You might want to think about some kind of headache rack to protect the back window, I could see that breaking pretty easy 👍
I will now look into one ☝️
Yep...first hit and it's gone!
Was thinking about a rack as well
Maybe also more frame structure to the bed so it won’t flex
Ha Josh, I love the idea of the bed liner look, but please take a bit of advice from someone that learned the hard way, put a little headache rack on there to protect that back glass , we love the channel , keep building 👍

Agree 100% with the headache rack. I put one in my last new truck after a piece of firewood took out the rear window the first month I had it.

Definitely
Some of these hydraulic motors have 3200 psi up and 1500 psi down so maybe the up and down was backwards

Add anti-striction fluid to hydraulic fluid. Will probably fix popping. Had issue with fifth wheel leveling doing same. It fixed it
