That's an explanation, but a bad one. The problem being that, if they all failed because of the space lizards, it means Doctor Strange knew about the space lizards (because he must have used that timeline-seeing power before, otherwise how would he know about it) and never did shit about it.

Someone pointed this out in stream chat, and it deserves more notice. Steve and Tony were allowed to go back to the seventies to correct for losing the stone. But Loki was arrested because he wasn't allowed to take it. That means that the Avengers were somehow meant to irretrievably lose the stone in that lobby, but not to Loki.
Another thing I haven't seen mentioned is that in this "Sacred Timeline" thousands of people had to die in the first 2 avenger movies due to everything having to happen this way. Beginning to end (free will) and every different decision is a multiverse. The mcu is one timeline that has already ended, so they can go back and forth on the line. But we dont know how it plays out. and variants can change it. Dr. strange saw 14 million different options that they made in other multiverses were they failed but in this one they made the right choice so the time cops with always make the same choices play out. And in failed multiverses they will always make them fail. that is their job in a nutshell.
But because the possibilities and multiverses are infinite and shit happens creating people that can fuck with time and thus a time cop organization gets created. They dictate their job is to make sure all the timelines stay as static as possible as to not fuck everything catastrophically. When something is off track they take the variant and run back time till the original makes the "proper" choice. and then deal with the variant. @@ygkemosabi8280 Interesting, everything you just said was wrong. Jokes aside, it's pointless to try applying logic on this show. It’s stuff like this that makes me think that no show should ever try and do a time travel story. The second you bring in time travel, you open the story up to so many plot holes and ridiculous points.

The funny thing is that this show is basically a spit to the face of EFAP community in a meta sense. The show literally tries to deny the existence of objective writing quality. P.S. Btw on the topic on character assassinations, they destroyed Loki by cramming his development in like 5 minutes instead of two full movies. They actually managed to assassinate a character with his own fucking arc. well tbf, he just suffered a humiliating defeat, learned that free will doesn't exist and that his future actions, which he cannot escape, indirectly cause the death of his mother, the destruction of asgard and that he ultimately dies being strangled like a rat. At the same time as being transported to a place where he has no powers (not even asgardian muscle fibres for some reason). That would definitely spark some rapid character development in me. I imagine the series is going to end with Loki sacrificing himself (himselves...) to restore free will to the universe which combined with the destruction of the infinity stones with thanos will lead to the reintroduction of a stable multiverse. Just in time for spidey

Speaking of WandaVision, I was thinking about this yesterday: 1- Imagine a woman walks into your house with multiple guns, and she demands that you assist her in acting out her fantasy of having a peaceful life in the suburbs with her loving husband and adorable children, and anytime you go against the fantasy, she pulls out her gun and points it at you. Now imagine that the police are surrounding the house, trying to get you and your family to safety as they deal with this insane woman; she walks out and tells the police that “I’m not the one with all the guns !” And it turns out, this woman was traumatized by the loss of all her family members and her lover. Please tell me, with a straight face, that this is NOT a woman who is deeply disturbed and needs to either be arrested or killed if she doesn’t give up her insane fantasy and her hold of you and your family. 2- What I described above perfectly applies to WandaVision. She’s the villain of the show; no question about it. Agetha is the “antagonist”, which is NOT the same as a villain; Thanos was the “protagonist” of Infinity War, yet he was still the villain of the movie. Michael Corleone is the protagonist of The Godfather 2, yet he is a villain; director Francis Ford Coppola put it best: “I made Michael into a monster and people still cheer for him.” 3- Had they writers actually made Wanda the all out villain of the show, that might have been compelling, but they didn’t; they made her into a whiney monster “Wah wah my family is dead and I’m depressed and I’m gonna enslave all these people to live out my fantasy ! But wait, I’m gonna SACRIFICE my FANTASY (which was never real) by letting go of the innocent peopl I’ve enslaved ! its funny how closely the MCU is following the marvel comics trajectory of gaining fan adoration, and inevitably shitting it all away for bad jokes, and woke points.
So, so true. Time travel and multiversal nonsense killed the stakes and investment for the comics as well, a total timeline reset a la the Ultimate series (kinda) is almost inevitable.
@@CptnCardboard And of course the timeline reset drains alot of interest by itself because people don't want to see Spiderman Origin Story: Take 25 but with Rhino (milk) as the villain.
With regards to Loki's apparently being wrong for picking up the Tesseract according to the TVA, the EFAP crew's criticism of that is how, what else was he supposed to do? That's his character, that's his goals, especially right after Avengers. So it makes total sense that he would've taken it. And I would 100% agree with that. What makes it even worse though is when you realize that the TVA, through the lizard gods, dictate what happens in the universe right? Anything differing from their ideals gets you melted. So not only does it mean that any choice made by anyone is irrelevant and predetermined, but so is your character itself. Loki's life was dictated by the TVA. His feelings of neglect and resentment that led him to the villain we see in Thor and the Avengers was decided by the TVA. Him desiring power through the Tesseract was decided by the TVA. So when he takes the Tesseract, they say it's wrong and if Mobius didn't save Loki in the courtroom, he would've been melted for it. The TVA set him up to fail. They contradict their own decisions. Good job show.
@@bobcartwright7476 He didn't say "real", he just said fanboys, who are made fun of all the time for making stupid defenses all the time over all media. And do you not agree when the writers write something as ridiculous as what they introduced in Loki and these fans don't question it?

If Thor had not chosen to become a pathetic overweight alcoholic, he would have been melted. No one is responsible for anything anymore. So there's no reason to feel anything for any Marvel product ever again. Apathy kills franchises, so good job, Marvel!
Isn't that the point of the show, to introduce the villain that the TVA is? I can't tell if most people's takes on this are satire or if they are actually brain dead. Clearly, the TVA is the bad guy who needs to be stopped. Am I wrong about this?
@@justynpryce The point is that retroactively there were never any stakes because the space lizards made sure that everything happened a certain way, even if it might be against people's wills. So choosing to be a hero or villain, and any betrayal or self-sacrifice, is sapped of all meaning. Maybe Tony refused to die countless times so the TVA could have continuously reset the scene or outright threatened him until he did what they demanded. What if Thanos didn't actually want to harm people across the universe but they mind-controlled him to have history play out how the space lizards demanded? It retroactively makes all characterization, events, and themes meaningless. The point is that it ruins the MCU.
@@justynpryce the crew responded to a question like this. Even if they kill the evil space lizards at the end, it has already ruined the story of everything that came before. Any choice a character makes isnt them making that choice but the space lizards melting and resetting the timeline every time they didnt make that specific descision. Tony could have not sacrificed himself 20 times and each time he was melted and the timeline reset until he does. There could have been 20 times John Walker didn't decapitate that terrorist guy but he was melted everytime he showed mercy until he chose to kill him. The only way they can solve this is by making it all a dream or the rules are a lie but thats unlikely.
@@2ndlegend125 The thing about that is they're 'fixing' time "for all time. Always" iirc. Meaning people have free will at any point in time. If the space lizards go away then the only timeline that's actually been affected by anything they have done is the so-called "Sacred Timeline." Everything in Multiverse of Madness, for example, still has the capacity to do all the interesting stuff it wanted to, plus after that point all decisions would be free will. And while it was not fully free will, I'm pretty sure the sacred timeline is still the most likely one, otherwise it would probably be way too cumbersome to keep things that way. But this is all honestly just a guess lmao, we'll see what the show does over the next 5 weeks. @@alfredvickers4054 I see what you're saying, but I think that's going beyond what the TVA is actually shown to do. Everything from here is mostly speculation, but entirely based on what I've seen from the show so far. If it turns out different than I expect then I concede that I'm wrong. The TVA doesn't convince or force someone to take actions, the TVA resets the timeline until they do the "correct" action. Because of that, I don't think the characteristics of the heros or villains can change too far beyond their original moral compass, otherwise that would be a bit too much work. As they'd constantly have to go back and fix how Thanos isn't deciding to wipe out half the universe, over and over again. Rather than fixing it only once every now and then, when a "rogue" thanos decides not to. This could be wrong tho, so I'm definitely open minded. Really what I'm getting at is the MCU isn't confined to the first thing that comes to mind as to what they're gonna do with the show. There's a lot of ways out of it. But alas, at the end of the day it's still super guy hits bad guy hooray story over, with a deeper message about the human condition blah blah blah. I enjoy piecing the story together before it's entirely come along, so I'm predisposed to thinking how something could work as to how something could go wrong. So no hard feelings or anything :)

This is so incredibly heinous and arbitrary. They have decided they want time to go a certain arbitrary way, and are manually editing history to make it happen that way by deleting every timeline that doesn't go the way they want. This is horrifically evil and absurd; for example, everytime you flip a coin their is a a fifty percent chance they kill you and the entire timeline. If they want it to land on heads, and in your timeline it lands on tails, they kill the timeline. That is the level of absurd micromanaging they are stated to be operating on, and the immense level of horrific evil that is their standard operating procedures. We are talking about universal genocide on a literal second by second basis, it is basically impossible to be more evil than that. This group being presented as heroes are literally the single most evil entities in the entire series, and one of the most evil in all fiction ever. In fact, there is no _other_ evil in the entire series nor any good because these utterly malevolent entities are deciding each and every action and murdering everyone who steps out of line; no one is responsible for their actions, because these malicious creatures forced them to take the path they took. Every murder, every r a p e, every atrocity in general is the fault of the TVA and the TVA alone.
@@notsae66 I think the end of the show will establish a new policy for the TVA and we will see the multiverse start to flourish like the way it’s supposed to. It never should have been like it is right now, but the only way I see this show moving forward is with the TVA realizing they are evil
@@superjlk_9538 Even if that does happen, and I don't really think the writers are self aware and intelligent enough for that, it's still too late. This is the max power you could have without becoming 100% incoherent, dominion of time and space while sitting in your own closed of fortress, being able to dictate reality etc.
Let’s not forget that they’re Human variants with no powers, or guns just sticks and they have prune not only every branching event on earth, but every single planet in the universe which is impossible because it’s like what Owlman says. “Every decision we make is meaningless because somewhere, on a parallel Earth, we have already made the opposite choice.” No wonder why the TVA headquarters looks so empty and boring.
This "fish" thing isn't really a problem for me. Universe is big, time is even bigger - lots of planets where fishes don't exists, lot of time for Earth where fishes dosen't exisxt. Why everyone in TVA should know some random animal group from Earth? For me bigger problems is that they know a lot about XXI - it should be tiny spec of their knowlage and yet they know a lot. Maybe this division is resposoible for this timeframe and location, but that need to be explained in next episodes.
So fck it, Captain America should’ve been melted when he decided to stay back and live his life with Peggy or go back in general since the removal of the infinity stones from certain points in time is inconsequential. Alternatively, if Cap tried to do anything other than lead a quiet life with Peggy, he would have been melted. Edit: replaced "white" with quiet, the word I meant.
So Thanos was never really a threat cause if he were to win in Endgame our Lizard Overlords would have vaporized him. Making the entire Infinity Saga pointless. Great. Awesome. Fuuuuuuuuck!
I find it so hilarious that every stupid action a character takes is only done so because the time cops are constantly melting the characters until they do the very specific action.

You gotta love how the "writers" tried to handwave that by saying they were supposed to time-travel even though Loki's escape was entirely their fault. You also gotta love how they ignored that Steve actually did the most damage between inadvertently revealing Hydra to his past self, and stealing Peggy from whoever her husband was.
Cap is the biggest variant of all because not only he went to 1970, he also decided to enjoy himself with Peggy in the past without regarding about the timeline.
@@mr.barcode3186 Loki escaping literally didn’t even make the timeline diverge. Seconds earlier CAPTAIN AMERICA LITERALLY REVEALED HE WAS A FAKE HYDRA AGENT. That’s a massive change in the timeline. Was that supposed to happen? That timeline obviously was not the correct prime timeline so is it only okay because the characters who messed it up needed to go back to their present to continue the correct timeline? That doesn’t really make any sense at all
So Loki’s logic is working off the concepts of parallel universes in witch every universe can exist separately from one another based on one variant difference from one another. Which means they’re infinitely being created all the time. So dude who’s late for work can create a new one by being late early or just not going to work. Bam three different timelines. Which means definitively Hulk had to dab and all other variants of Hulk not dabbing were all melted.
So, let me see if I can get this straight. A group of time masters (who essentially act as more active varients of the watcher) have written the entire history of time, and if anything goes against that work, they delete it from existence. MEANING, nothing in the MCU had any stakes, development, or tention, because it was all pre planned from the beginning, and could be corrected within minutes. PLUS, it means the infinity stones are mere trinkets that are rendered useless by the main timeline, and are essentially worthless compared to this main timeline (which is essentially the book of fate done worse).
Not really. There are still stakes involved. Battling against or having cosmic entities affect your decision doesn't remove those stakes as it still intills that aspect of helplessness or battling against something greater, your thought process implies that anything with cosmic elements inherently detracts the stakes meaning that all lovecraft horror has no stakes.
@@lampad4549 It does though because if the actions deviate from the pre determined timeline then they get melted and the timeline is reset unless the "correct" actions are taken. @@lampad4549 you're correct, Lovecraft horror has no stakes, because the entirety exists outside of our existence. Humans can't kill things that don't die by our own rules, meaning Lovecraft monsters have no stakes. The only reason they "die" is because they have to exist in the reality humans exist in.

Animated series is going to be about Uatu The Watcher peering into alternate MCU timelines, but if Loki sets up that those realities don't and can't exist; This means that either "What if..?" will be non-canon, or this show will have to work extremely hard to undo Loki's anti-stakes.

Speaking of WandaVision, I was thinking about this yesterday:
1- Imagine a woman walks into your house with multiple guns, and she demands that you assist her in acting out her fantasy of having a peaceful life in the suburbs with her loving husband and adorable children, and anytime you go against the fantasy, she pulls out her gun and points it at you.
Michael Corleone is the protagonist of The Godfather 2, yet he is a villain; director Francis Ford Coppola put it best: “I made Michael into a monster and people still cheer for him.”
3- Had they writers actually made Wanda the all out villain of the show, that might have been compelling, but they didn’t; they made her into a whiney monster “Wah wah my family is dead and I’m depressed and I’m gonna enslave all these people to live out my fantasy ! But wait, I’m gonna SACRIFICE my FANTASY (which was never real) by letting go of the innocent peopl I’ve enslaved ! If Howard Stark wasn't a distant or absent father to Tony, he would have been melted. If Loki hadn't killed Coulson, he would have been melted. If Thor had not chosen to become a pathetic overweight alcoholic, he would have been melted. No one is responsible for anything anymore. No one should be mad at anyone else anymore for any reason, because it is not their fault. Then again, if the TVA wants someone to hate someone else, they will be melted if they don't. Because things will play out a certain way no matter what and there's no changing it, no one is actually making his own decisions. It's all meaningless.
Predictions are what fucked over WandaVision for a lot of people anyway, I shouldn't get myself too excited, nor try too hard to understand how time travel works until they explain it.
Edited twice for wording

Holy shit, this is literally the single worst bit of world building I have ever seen. This not only ruins the MCU going forward, it retroactively ruins everything that has ever happened. This is utterly catastrophic, and makes absolutely everything less than pointless and completely and utterly ruins any possibility of anything good ever happening. With this single piece of writing, the setting is dead with no possibility of recovery so long as it exists.
Rian Johnson:
"I'm gonna make Hyperspace ramming a thing. Noone will ever top me in breaking the universe with a single action."
Writers for Loki:
"Wanna bet?"
🤓
The existence of this order, even if it comes to an end, ruins absolutely everything that has ever happened. They are literally the source and cause of all evil, and they are being unironically presented as the good guys. This is literally worse than if Hydra got full control of everything, because at least they wouldn't be murdering trillions over a coin toss and forcing r a p e and murder to happen despite the wishes of everyone (including the aggressor) involved. There is no recovering from this, unless they completely decanonise this show and cancel it right now, the MCU is irrevocably dead.

If the time travel in End Game is meant to happen, then Loki's escape is no more a variant than Cap and Tony's further jaunt to the 1970's.
