Releasing multi-hour videos two years after the episodes aired is an awful way of crawling to the big 200k, but I had to finish this damn series at some point!

Idk if you've done this, but have you made a list of some of your favorite movies/shows and detailing why? Would love to see what sources help inspire you
This video made me actually look up why the elves were fading, and it turns out they were just too magical for their own bodies. Also, they were originally meant to just make Middle Earth all nice for the humans and then go away.
I don't watch this show, obviously, but I'm so glad you highlighted the pyroclastic flow, I just know the writers thought that was so badass. Like you can't convince me these people aren't dumb, they don't interact with physical reality at all and especially don't understand tropes or Tolkien. "So there's this volcano and after the key is turned it erupts and kills a bunch of villagers but Galadriel is fine because she's super strong and tough" "You do know that being strong and tough won't protect you from a firestorm" "Yeah but it's magic, so she doesn't get burned" Well what about the choking toxic chemicals?" My money is on incompetence. There’ll be a bit of malice in there directed at the wrong sort of fan, but I think they do genuinely think they’re doing a good job building on Tolkien’s creation. (That’s the showrunners, at least. I suspect some of the writers couldn’t care less.)

This brings the memory of Owen Grady surviving a pyroclastic blast without even dirt on his clothes in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Why THE F do writers put characters in a situation where no amount of suspension of disbelief would make a viewer accept that's survivable.
Season 1 had so many plots that are just horrible. The orc tunnel that got dug and sword hilt to open a dam, which then restarts a volcano is just one of the worst.

Dear Platoon, could you maybe consider making a video explaining your process of writing these videos? Your script are simply outstanding, full of wit, information and humour. Of course I don't expect you to literally share everything, but maybe some pointers? For example where do you look for inspiration, or what steps do you take when writing? Do you first write a plan, or do you go with the flow? Do you know your conclusions beforehand, or do you follow the scientific method while writing? I'm very curious, because your scripts stand out even amongst others, which I consider to be of very high quality.

I think this episode includes the only meaningful crossover between the Harfoot plotline and every other plot. Nothing happening in Harfoot world affects anything else, and only this event from the main plotline causes events to connect to the main plot. The show is greatly improved if they remove every single one of these scenes.

Until Rings of Power, I thought Denethor was the most awful Tolkien character put to film. Now, film Denethor feels like a well written and tragic character compared to these bumbling morons. Durin III, Durin IV, and Elrond (when with Durin IV) are the only passibly written characters in this show.

@@harmider2430 Buddy, every village in a hundred mile radius of my own has its own memorial commemorating its dead. Kids volunteered for WW1 with absolutely no idea what they were in for. These aren’t “warriors,” these are normal, everyday people. Almost every village lost its children - villages that lost none were so rare they’re called the Thankful Villages. Try reading a book.
@@TheLittlePlatoon What I call propaganda is the extension of anglosaxon & french perspective of the trench war in the west to the whole war & all wars! btw. i reacted to your generalisation by comparing knights warfare to a WW1 situation. You can not compare a anomaly like WW1 in the west to all other wars, not even WW2. That was a nightmare for civilians in occupied lands. Until the 17th century, fighters were trained from childhood to be knights, mercenaries or regular soldiers, depending on their heritage. Such people have a completely different psychology, than people unprapared for the horrors of WW1 or any conflict. If you deprive people of a cultural basis and send them into war unprepared, as the great powers did with their own citizens, it is a mass crime. Of course you are right that they were lied to. But the lie is trivialized if you saying that naive idiots were promised a "Dungeons & Dragons" adventure. The military Command was unprapared & lazy to adjust tactics to new weaponary. Mainly the french & british. If the Germans were, do you think they would like to go into overtime 20 years later? ...everything you say about RoP is true 😉
@@harmider2430 I think you entirely missed the point and created your own inside your head. I can"t for the life of me see what this has anything to do with the points he was making about how much Tolkien cared about the loss of his friends. Warriors ion the past were mentaly trained, they were no peasants, workers or poets thrown into the Battle.
Sure, some people figure out, they are not made for it afterwards. But I can not hear this stupi comparisons anymore.

What I call propaganda is the extension of anglosaxon & french perspective of the trench war in the west to the whole war & all wars!
btw.
i reacted to your generalisation by comparing knights warfare to a WW1 situation.
I didnt hear any significant commentary about the war overall, about governments, about any of it. Thats not what this video is about. Maybe you should go troll about in the comments sections of a WW1 video.
For the love of God talk about something else. Nobody's even watching this show
For LP it's personal.
Dude I’m more hyped for this than most Hollywood projects
I don't think the point is the cultural relevancy of the show. It's about how much you can crap and it and how fun it is to do so.
You're obviously in the wrong saloon, partner.
@@theelder4797No he is right, the content has been terrible for awhile now.
Do you understand how boring it would have been to watch the Giants beat the Patriots 2-1?
I guess if you watch English football, then yeah...
I don’t even know what those words mean.
