Wayne described their music as "Evil Disco" and half their songs are tongue-in-cheek, so they don't take themselves too seriously. They just rock very hard and have fun doing it.
Exactly. Yet on the flip side the other half are actually quite deep and personal songs. Legends.
Static-X is my emotional support band. I was sad when I learned of Wayne's death. Most other celebrities, I'm like, "oh that's too bad I feel bad for their friends and family" but with Wayne, it was the first time I felt a personal loss.
Also, as far as lyrics go, Static-X sometimes has meaning in their lyrics, but it's mostly just vibes. Rarely makes sense, just giving a vibe. Some songs that DO have meaning are I am the One, Hate Team Hate, and I think Tarafied? There's a song about his wife helping him deal with drug problems. I might be misremembering the song title.
Wayne was one of a kind. An absolute legend.
The loss that got to me the most was Anthony Bourdain.

The samples through most of the song, "so I grabbed my shovel" "... and I beat him down" "then I grabbed a rope and I hog tied him," allegedly are from a News broadcast in which some lady (who today we'd call a Karen) cracked a trespassers skull (trespassing on her neighbors property, not hers).
Particularly, those samples always gave me vibes of Kathy Bates as Annie in the movie Misery... "He's a loser, she said".
Been into Static-X since 99 and their first album... that little sound from this song always had me wondering, but it wasn't until 2009 I seen an interview where they told the story of the local news and that woman, and how Wayne just found it stupid and funny lol
Still rocking this album all these years later, so so good.
Wayne Static….one of the coolest guys to have ever lived. Had the pleasure of seeing them live before he died, easily one of the greatest shows ever 🎉

Yeah Static-X is billed as an industrial rock band and it's really prevalent in most of their music. It's got that driving, piston pumping sound! 🤘🏼💙🤘🏼

Wayne Static has been in a few hip-hop like songs but Static-X is Industrial inspired (Ministry) and their own sound is purely described as 'Evil Disco'.
If you want to check out more of his work check out assassins of youth. That was his very last music video he made before his death. It's also a true story. Him and his wife Tera were the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. They were inseparable. She was also the bassist in his solo work. I had tickets to see him and pm5k at a small hole in the wall venue 5 minutes from my house. That's the venue I got to hang out with butcher babies (were I got the cd signed) meet max and Igor cavalera, mey havok and countless others. My buddies band the summoned opened for most of them. He was the drummer but left to be a husband and father. That was more important to him. Out of all the musicians that have died in my lifetime his death still gets me.

Best energy and Pitt experience was at a Mudvayne/StaticX show. Crowd was packed tightly, I had on boots that had no laces but were a buckle type. Needless to saw once the Mudvayne started and ppl began swaying, I feel my left boot begin to come off. As I try and correct it, I lose the right boot and just said fuk it! Went the whole show barefoot and had a blast. I had already seen Static -X perform once before so I wasn’t planning on getting in the Pitt for their set because of the bare feet but they kicked ass and I just had too! 🤘🏼
Y'all should check out Static X's "Get to the Gone"; another banger. The intro to that song damn near made me wreck my car one morning; I was half awake and it's one of those that just pops off without warning...lol. Killer driving tune, though.

Evil Disco. Its alt-metal. Industrial sounding, but catchier. They get lumped in with the nu metal bands because they were around at the same time and toured with alot of those bands in the late 90's early 00's. All of Static-X's music is great.

Not really the band to dive into lyrics with, but more to dance and vibe too. Usually short and hard (“like a bodybuilding elf”- JimmyPop), and generally doesn’t waste your time or overstay it’s welcome. You generally don’t have time to get bored and mostly leaves you wanting more. That first album is killer from start to finish.

I was lucky enough to see these guys a few times live with Wayne, that energy is REAL! One of the best bands I've ever seen in concert!

My favorite music video by them is Destroyer. My friend had Wisconsin Death Trip on cassette and we would listen to that everyday driving to school. Also fun fact Wayne Wells or Wayne Static was in a band with Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins in the 80s called Deep Blue Dream.
He sounds completely different in this band.

Holy fkn shit this made my day thank you I was all abiut the industrial metal. My 8th grade teacher(this was like in 2001 I think ) in science would let us play a song before class like on a rotation schedule and I played this song and i played powerman 5000 when worlds collide on my days. Static X was wrongly lumped in with the nu metal bands. You are absolutely correct: they are industrial. Much closer to Ministry or Powerman 5000, than... Limp Bizkit.
Hopefully the people who pay for requests will do more Static X.

Wayne called his music evil disco, I'd say they were def more industrial, but everybody with downtuned guitars back in those days would be lumped in with nu metal. The guy with the big head was their logo made into a guy.

I seen them on their first Ozzfest tour. Didn’t know what to think about them at first. When Wayne came out on stage I was like WTH. I was instantly a fan. Went the next day to my small local record store “Cheap Thrills” and ordered this cd.

Seen Wayne right before he died on the Wisconsin Deathtrip anniversary tour… I can honestly say it was the funnest night of my life and he was so amazing. I was pouring sweat from all the dancing. When he died I swear I couldn’t believe it since I just seen him. Such a loss.

Had the pleasure to meet Wayne and the band a couple of times. They were all great dudes and partied hard back in those days. I was genuinely heartbroken when I learned of his and Tara's passing. You guys should check out SkinnyMan, Start a War, Dirthouse, I Wanna Break It, Behemoth, the list is long and heavy my friends. Happy rabbit holing!!!
Man I Love Static-X man. They have so many damn great songs if you’ll go down this path you’ll gotta do a lot more of their song soooo man great energy songs. Just to damn bad ass.
Nü Metal is such a broad genre, and it has so many different flavors within it. This more industrial sound is one of them. Static X, Powerman 5000, Dope, Coal Chamber, Spineshank are part of that sub-genre of Nü Metal. This sound is somewhat different from the mainstream Nü Metal (Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot or Linkin Park) but it's great too 🔥

I had seen Static X as an opening act when I went to see Korn and Breaking Benjamin in the early 2000's when they were still relatively new and not very well known. I had never even heard of them and I was absolutely blown away. Went out and bought their CD's like the next day. While I am not 100% into this type of music, they put on a great fucking show back then. Another band that I had a similar experience with was Black Stone Cherry. They opened up for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Co when I saw them about 10 years ago. I love being exposed to music I have never heard before and finding out another great band to follow.
They are a Industrial band that became popular during the nu metal craze and as a result they got labeled as nu metal.But good music is good music fuck labels in the first place

The whole album, Wisconsin Death Grip is great. Happy I got to see them tour on this album with powerman 5k and dope.
Bled for Days also one of my fav Static X songs along with I'm with Stupid. Wisconsin Death Trip super album! I have moved to harder death metal but Wayne Static hooked me on industrial metal and I just got sucked into the calm I get from loud hard metal. It is my Zen and really helps my anxiety.

Greatest metal / alternative band ever
So the story goes that they were playing somewhere when the lead singer from one of the other bands that they were touring with got on stage. They started ribbing each other back-and-forth. One saying you're a loser, the other one said, well, I'm with you stupid.
The visiting band leader, and I don't remember who it supposedly was said "Well I'll grab my shovel" Referring to his guitar, and I will show you. All in good fun. Everything was recorded, so they decided to make a collaboration out of it, and this song came about.
Buy I don't know if there's any truth to that story.

Wisconsin Death Trip is definitely a "no skip" album
It's actually based on a true story where a married couple caught someone breaking into their neighbors house while they were on vacation. The wife smashed him in the head with a shovel and they hog tied until the police came. It was on some news channel in Southern California.
I always figured they just played around with the word ecstatic

I will die on this hill: numetal is not strictly a fusion of rock/metal with rap/hip hop. To me, first and foremost, it means drop tuned guitars. There's plenty of groups that I would describe as numetal that don't necessarily rap: Sevendust, Helmet, Staind, Adema, Earshot, etc.
Also gotta get to Love Dump, Bled for Days, and my favorite, So

Some of their later music does have a message, unfortunately we lost Wayne too.
Yeah any band that makes a song about scat sex (their song "Love Dump") aren't in it to be taken too seriously lol. At least they weren't during the Wisconsin Death Trip era.

I might be wrong, but I think Wayne Static had a kind of hip hop side project with Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park called the X-ecutioners!!

Incorrect. X-Ecutioners are a group of DJ's, not Mike's side project. They just did a song with LP(without Chester) and Wayne was a cameo. if I remember correctly people were saying that he wasn't the one who recorded the riff that he was playing in the video, but that part might be untrue.

Yes Nu Metal and Industrial, all Nu Metal didn’t have hip Hop/Rap, Nu Metal is a genre that most people misunderstand, it’s a genre that incorporates many different genres with metal/hard rock/alternative, Powerman 5000 definitely fits in with Nu Metal especially their early albums that had hip hop and funk influences

I had to stop the movie for about 5 minutes before It's insanely racist too. The villain is called "Uncle Impie" and he carries every burden of that name. He's a magical, ebonics-speaking slave. It's a movie from '88, how is that possible?
