They’re called Cream because at the time they were three of the best musicians of the time, or the Cream of the crop. Eric Clapton guitar/vocals, Jack Bruce bass/vocals, Ginger Baker drums.

Fun Fact: "Sunshine Of Your Love" is one of Eric Clapton's favorites from this days with Cream; he played it at most of his solo shows throughout his career. When Cream played some reunion concerts in 2005, they played the song as their encore.

One of the original super groups. Jack Bruce’s bass and vocals along with Ginger Baker’s jazz influenced percussion blended perfectly with Clapton’s lead guitar and vocals. Fantastic musicians separately, but together they formed a tremendous power trio. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸

Ginger Baker's approach to the drums in the song is quite unusual he really is pushing the one and three instead of the usual 2 and 4 where the snare would live it's very tribal and it gives the song and the repetitive riff a kick ass memorable sort of power that I think would have been lost had he gone with the traditional BackBeat on this

    2:24 The term is ambivert
13:18 Not sure where you heard that "adult juice" line but the last line of verses 2 and 4 is "I'll stay with you 'til my seas are dried up".
There are several lines like "It's gettin near dawn/When lights close their tired eyes/I'll soon be with you my love/Give you my dawn surprise" and "I've been waiting so long/to be where I'm going" that suggest maybe he has a night job or maybe he's been touring nonstop. Whatever his situation, his bright light at the end of his dark hours is some early morning love.

    Goddam, you F'ers are funny!!
I can't tell you how hard this hit when I first heard it in Grade 7. Ginger Baker's thunderous, unorthodox drums, Jack Bruce's throbbing bass lines and impassioned vocals, with Clapton taking the second line of each verse and chiming in on harmonies. Then I was beyond surprised and fascinated when the guitar solo begins by quoting the opening line of 'Blue Moon', a 1961 hit for the Marcels.
Bruce and his songwriting partner, lyricist Pete Brown, were scratching their heads over a way into the song they were trying to write with this insidious riff, and noticed the sky was growing gradually brighter outside. Bingo.
Brown's surreal, impressionistic lyrics perfectly suited the times and the impact of three virtuosi jamming TF out, balls to the wall.
See also 'Theme for an Imaginary Western', by Mountain, another personal fave penned by the duo, and by Cream, 'Doing That Scrapyard Thing', 'Badge', by Clapton and George Harrison, and 'Deserted Cities of the Heart'. Add in 'World of Pain', co-written with his wife by Felix Pappalardi, who produced this album and played bass and sang with Mountain. I think that's plenty for now, don't you? Cheers 🍻. Or deuces.

After seeing their video on MTV I had to buy the album. They were on Earache Records which was known for death metal and grindcore but they were more alternative metal. Here's the skinny. Jack Bruce (the bassist & vocalist on this song) came up with the riff (which was just floating around in the cosmos waiting to be discovered). The lyrics were written by Pete Brown, who collaborated with Jack quite often (but was not a member of Cream). The band's name is not a sexual reference. They simply were THE CREAM. Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker had all earned their reputations in the blues/jazz scene in London at that time. They were THE CREAM.

Cream was considered a supergroup of sorts. Because Clapton was with another group before Cream called Derick and the Dominoes and the other members were apart of other groups. In these groups they were established as good artists and they formed Cream. For them to only be together for a short time but have such a great prescience and influence on the industry shows how much talent they had.

@linkloudenback8359 Derek and the Dominos was after Cream, after Blind Faith, after trying to join the Band and touring with Delaney and Bonnie(Bramlett), calling George Harrison to join them briefly and grabbing some of D and B's band to help George with 'All Things Must Pass', THEN forming the Dominos and receiving the Godsend of a fortuitous encounter with Duane Allman, who reinvigorated the sessions and added his inimitable touch to the record. Blah, blah, blah. Too much largely useless information, and time to dispense it, needed or not. Ciao for now, bello.

Fun Fact... Sunshine of your love was written by bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce after he watched Jimi Hendrix in concert for the first time. He literally went home from the concert and wrote this song the same night. After Cream disbanded, Jimi Hendrix chose to cover this track in tribute to the band, not knowing that he'd been the original inspiration for the song. Jimi famously played it on a now infamous BBC show where he went over his time limit and caused the BBC news to be late, which would have been akin to committing heresy in 1960's Britain.
