I was working at Circle K down from a venue called the Mason Jar one night when I look up and see Wayne Static. This was before they were more well known. I shouted "TAKE THE HOLD!", and he looked at me with a big grin. He tried to convince me to lock up the store and come see the show (I wanted to so bad! Got called in that night before I learned they were playing there). A few hours later he came back and brought me a signed shirt and some other swag. Chatted with me for a while too. I was already a fan. His actions just made me love them more. About a year later I'm at Celebrity Theatre to see them and I hear, "Glad you could make this one" turned around and it was him! He remembered me. He even asked how life at circle k was going. He really made me feel special. Miss that legend.

That’s fucking awesome. It seems those of us with the most pain and afflictions are often the most empathic or empathetic…interesting.
Anyway, sad Wayne couldn’t get a hold of the using stuff but, as a heroin addict with a few months clean now, I like to think I have this opportunity to live on to honor those who didn’t make it , and do my best to keep paying it all forward and bring some positivity in to this world that right now so desperately needs it!…

The guitar stuff is pretty straightforward in many respects but it's another thing to pull off the vocals as well as he does. I remember hearing them on their first record for the first time. @damian_cross 9 месяцев назад +37

@@stryctn9yne13 The story that Edsel Dope tells is that he was on tour with Wayne prior to the overdose. The tour wasn't selling too great, so Edsel tried to convince Wayne to get back with the other members, thinking that Wayne's wife was creating a Yoko Ono situation. Wayne was receptive to the idea but Edsel soon realized his wife wasn't the problem, it was the drugs. So the plan was to put Wayne in rehab and then put the band back together, but then the overdose happened. If that story is true, this is probably less of a cash grab and more of an attempt to fix up past mistakes and move forward.

In 2000 in Tampa FL I saw Dope open for Static X who opened for Powerman 5000. I was the only one of my friends there who knew who static x was and had never heard of Dope. No one that I knew really liked Dope that much, but I actually thought they were pretty good and when they opened and were all head banging their long ass dreads or whatever they had going on with their hair, it had me fckn pumped immediately. Never really thought Dope or even Static x would be around as long as they have and going as strong as they are. I sure as shit would have never thought that the bands that I was seeing that night 23 years ago would have the events and merging that they had with Edsel taking Wayne's place after his death. This shit brings me back man. Would love to see them again. I'm 40 now...don't know if I'll ever go to a live show again, but hopefully one day I can.
