The person YOU like is the only one you won't mind saying "I love you" to with both eyes full of passion and sincerity. But for the person that likes you? They may have felt this from a long time but when it comes to you sharing new moments with them, it's like you learn how to appreciate/value all over again. You can see that from both Rico (He did love Carmen, even Carl said that and he acted jealous multiple times too. So the person he liked was Carmen, hence why he couldn't say it back to Diz) and Carmen (She didn't truly like Rico and we could have seen that. She told Rico not to dance with anybody during the prom night yet she was chilling with the other dude, she kinda used Rico for the sake of relationships, hence why she was hesitant to say "i love you" back to Rico).
Decades later I still feel sad when I see Dizzy and Rico, and part of me gets pissed off for getting so sentimental over a movie that was supposed to be a satire
Never liked denise richards in this movie, especially for how she treated Rico, seen the movie so many times now and me and my wife each time hope for a diffrent ending with Carmen dying and Diz staying alive ;)
Dizzy was so nice to Rico and he was kinda of a jerk to her just because he wanted to be with Caca Carmen!! Think Dizzy & Rico's chemistry was way better!
As a teen I was totally into Carmen and found the DIzzy character to be somewhat annoying. 25 years of life experience later and I wouldn't trade having a "Dizz" for even ten Carmens.
