let me fix that!
A Big One
Next should be Arnold for the Automatons 😂
Helldivers players have been on Casper for awhile now, I doubt he'll be actively doing anything for the property though, hell he's still voicing Johnny Rico to this day
it's the lead actor in the movie game mostly based on. Not really rocket science idea.
Can we start a petition to get this guy into Helldivers 2 as a character??? The fans would absolutely lose their minds!
I'd pay for a Character voice pack of him lol
I'll sign it
I'll do my part.
Even if its just a cameo role on the videos that play on our ships then I am all for it
Not a bad Idea at all!!!
Would shine light on his brand while putting a smile on all of our faces having Rico show up!
What is amazing he never called it a ''rip off'' he called it what it actually is a tribute.
Starship Troopers '97 is my favorite movie, and i've watched it countless times, but i remember back in 1999 (first time i heard about it) i rented it and i had 24 hours before i had to return it. Watched it 4 times during that period.
I found the animation, "roughnecks" on the internet, it follows the starship troopers campaign against the bugs, and in some capacity is closer to the book than the movie, there is also a japanese animation, another two movies, and another 2 3d animations, very cool universe. And the book should be mandatory reading
Fucking same!
I hope you rewound the video tape before you returned it that was a rule at our shop
Hmmm feel like they are borrowing too much to be a tribute. This is more entering copy territory imo.
@frankgunner8967 "Rewind" But yes, it was an unwritten rule at our shop too :)
It's so refreshing to see an actor just excited to reminisce about his previous role and nerding out. Starship Troopers could easily have been one of those movies that the actors try to pretend never happened.
Rather starship troopers itself had the potential to be an embarassing shitshow, but it turned out to be one of the most recognizable cult scifi movies ever made.
For real dude I will never forget when my dad sat down with me and watched it I was like 5-7 years old at the time maybe older I don’t remember how old I was I just remember watching it with him as a kid and then as an adult I watched it like a few years ago in my early twenties cause I was like damn I haven’t watched this movie for a long time and just realized how much shit flew over my head as a kid like the jokes and stuff when I was kid I just remembered it’s guys fighting bugs and dying 😂 and then when helldivers came out I saw it and I was like oh shit this is like starship troopers 😂 and the fact it got popular was awesome

Hairline is a sensitive topic around here
The fact that Rico (yes, that's what I will always call him) is so passionate about his role in Starship Troopers is honestly so wholesome.
From what I understand, when he came back to the series, he was the one pushing for it to be a lot more like the book, adding pieces like the power suits, etc.
One of the few examples of an actor that appreciates their fa base and the IP that made their career.
of course he passionate, that 3 movie series is all hes been in....

I had the pleasure of meeting Casper in person at a Comic convention in 2017. He is every bit as humble and kind as is shown here. He even stopped by my art booth and let us take pictures with me and my family. It was a great experience and I was tickled pink when I saw him come up on my RUclips page today!
And what's even better is that there's an achievement that's called "Doing your part"

Starship Troopers had such an impact on me as a teen going to the cinema and watching that masterpiece that sadly was overlooked by everybody. Man that film has it all.

I never watched any of the sequals to Starship Troopers, but just see Rico being so nostalgic about killing bugs that didn't exist, made me grin so hard.
The 2nd movie sucked anyway due to low budget, and was more of a thriller than a war movie.
@@mrnygren2 yeah, saw that one. @selvokaz, you didn't miss much.
Eh, most of them weren't any good. A few were, but 2 was garbage and 3 was 'meh' at best. There was a animated movie called 'Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars' that was pretty good.
Stand up guy. Nothing makes me happier than a humble celebrity who loves his work and fans.

Whilst it probably worked out for the best with Starship Troopers stuff like this does make me wonder. Is there some kind of special test all movie directors have to pass? Like, do they have to display a certain level of disregard for source material before they're allowed to become a director, or what?
Why is it so common for directors to be like, "Screw your story, never even read it, I'm just gonna do it my way. Thanks for letting me use the name chumps!"
@@UnknownSquid did you read the book?
@@UnknownSquid They just want to make a story that they want to tell. If it diverges from the source material, it's up to their discretion (and/or the producers'). Some end up with crap output (like tons of generic virtue signalling bs out there); others turn out great, like Starship Troopers.
And it's not just with movie directors, games do this too, ex. Rainbow Six is pretty far from Clancy's book but it turned out okay.
He has ran through those quotes like he was recording back to back videos at a convention. Love it.
The complex mixed emotions I'm having about starship troopers being a parody and satire about the insanity and absurdity of the military complex combined with the heartfelt life-saving story about the real soldier getting the tattoo lol
Fun fact, Starship Troopers holds the world record for highest expenditure of ammunition in a movie with over 300,000 blank rounds fired over the course of its production. A record it will likely keep forever as it was one of the last movies made before CGI muzzle flashes became a thing.

I think its a licensing thing cause I believe Casper said he'd do it.
They should get him to do a voice pack for Helldivers 2.
They probably would have asked him. A Starship Troopers crossover event/DLC would have been especially fitting. They could have gotten all the cast to record some lines not just Rico. With the Staship Troopers game coming out it probably creates a ton of conflicts though. Unfortunately.
If he did something for Helldivers, he would have to be a completely different character, which might not be _AS_ fun as him being Rico in Helldivers.
Damn! It's been 26 years since Starship Troopers and Casper is looking great!
I love how there are time he's trying to be like "oh no, starship troopers is so much better" but can't because of just how similar it all is 😂
My platoon sergeant used a line from Starship Troopers on my promotion from Corporal to Sergeant. "Congratulations! You're it until you're dead or till I find somebody better." Gave me chills just thinking about it today.

That last part hit this veteran like a brick, not gonna lie.
I will never stop being so happy at how Casper Van Dien just totally went all-in on loving his role in Starship Troopers. The guy has never wearied of or become frustrated with being Johnny Rico his entire damn life. It's almost comical that THE actor of Starship Troopers react to Helldivers 2 instead of the actual Starship Troopers game (Starship Troopers: Extermination). It's surreal.
Sadly that one seems stuck in development hell. TBH I don't think it has a chance. Helldivers may not be licensed but the devs are far more passionate about their work.
Starship troopers had a some following before Helldivers came out, but as i understood they made an update that fucked a lot things and the huge success of Helldivers just put them in the shade.
@@nicolaspeigne1429 It was something like they tried to 1.0 too early and broke the game beyond repair. Right around the time Helldivers 2 launched, which caused this mass exodus to THAT game. Supposedly, though, the Troopers game is still being worked on and still has a good following, and HD2 is starting to hemorrhage player base due to the insistence by the devs that the game needs to 'ramp up difficulty' a few dozen more times by year's end. I'm thinking the Troopers game will be mildly easier and a tribute to the 'expendable warfare' of the movie, while Helldivers is going to be the 'what do you mean you want functioning weapons?' variation for the 'wow omg lol yeet' gamers who fit THAT particular niche. Each will have its individual lane. Question is just whether or not the devs for the Troopers game can salvage the development time.
Also, I say what I said about HD2 because the forums are full of people who have no idea what the word 'balance' means. The devs for HD2 have said they have no plans to make it anything but HARDER for the next 5 years, regardless of casual players' decisions to try playing or not.
