@Jdrocco It will have a marginally weaker GPU than the xbox but the higher clock speeds hopefully make up for that. I am a PC gamer though, and it does make me salty both consoles are going to put my r5 3600 and rtx 2060 PC to shame out of the gate.

I’ve had my 2017 iPad for 3 years now and the thing still works great, it’s my editor, media viewer. Up until I recently got a computer this thing did everything I needed
I literally just recorded, mixed and mastered an album for my music school using only the iPad pro 2018 and I only had a couple of glitches along the way (probably cubasis 2 glitches not Ipad ones). Super happy with this device. Just wish they supported windows layout keyboards and external monitors better. Oh and that they would finally give up on forcing everyone to use itunes if they want to directly transfer files to a pc.
Ok but for $800 + $300 for that keyboard you could just get an actual laptop and not have to live with the compromised experience and use whatever accessories you want. The Surface Pro 7 is more capable and costs less.

Apple could easily get away selling their premium lines of devices for 2-300 cheaper, and Tim would still be rolling in that dough. They make the prices high, and use crappier hardware because they know you fools would buy them or get your parents too xD

I’ve used the exact same setup for the past 2 years and agree with everything here, I often didn’t use any Google services dedicated apps and just used the websites, also bought the shiftscreen app, at first it was a game changer but you begin to see its drawbacks. I agree with everything stated in this video, but when you simply need to get through a work day, the iPad is a powerhouse.

I had to “switch” temporarily while my MacBook Pro was in to have the keyboard replaced (because… Apple keyboards). I think the iPad Pro is finally in the ~97% laptop replacement range, for the bulk of users. As a writer, it does absolutely everything I need for that task. There are just a few things I have to do as a series of workarounds, rather than doing them directly (as I would on the MacBook). I’m getting closer to switching full time, I think, and keeping the MacBook as the digital security blanket it has come to be.

I have the 2017 Ipad Pro 12.9" with a Logitech Slim Combo, a great mechanical & detachable keyboard. I've been using that particular iPad A LOT since I purchased it, at least 3-4 times more than my previous iPad -- but that model, as great as it is, doesn't have USB-C... and THAT makes such a huge difference. We seem to forget about it now that it's just there, but that port is actually the most important thing to this "pseudo-laptop" experience.
You should make a similar video with Samsung DEX on the TAB S7 or Note phones. I daily drive a note 10+ and I haven't opened my laptop in a while. My phone is connected to a 32'' 4K display, bluetooth keyboard and mouse, works with any dock station or dongle and it is a real desktop like experience. The file manager is clean, you can connect to any server, dropbox, google drive and organise your files as you please, you can multi task with windows or google apps, Adobe premier rush for video editing, etc. With a decent internet, you can play xbox game pass games with a remote. I know it's not a very interesting subject for you guys but it is worth mentioning, as for regular consumers this can easily replace an laptop.
That’s definitely true, though as time goes on and the iPad Pro hopefully develops more of its “laptop-like” features, we might be taking it more seriously. And I think this video expresses that idea. It’s not there, but it is getting there.
It’s not supposed to anyway, It’s supposed to be it’s own form factor and for certain people’s use cases the IPP is perfect as a computer, without explicitly being a desktop/laptop replacement.
I am the average one man band doing simple video editing and I use my iPad air for everything. I edited my last video on lumafusion and will be using i from now on. LumaFusion was actually better then my PC editor (VideoStudio--Yes I know that's terrible but so is my pc so I wasn't gonna be able to do more even with free resolve or premier). So I bought an iPad to upgrade my PC and it's not bad, I love apple integration with my phone and watch and multitasking is pretty good. I also plan on using both external drive and network drive support.
I tried using the iPad Pro 11 as a pro laptop replacement. Most of the experience was excellent, in times it is even better than a laptop. But the biggest issue was the RAM, If you are developer and you switch from the SSH client for some info, the client crashes out of RAM. if you are using a virtual machine, (UTM), running anything above Windows XP is hardly possible. The external display support was also very rubbish, but because it is a software issue I guess Apple will likely fix that in the coming iOS 14.

As for the market, I like where the device stands and the future potential available if varying sizes are offered (PRO 11.5”, 13.5”, and 15.5”) (REG 7.5” and 9.5”) along app developer updates and plugable accessories- laser beam adapter to burn away fat cells!
For my Chrome for android, it doesn't work anymore on recent versions. Not just youtube, any video playing in chrome gets paused if I turn off the screen.

I have the 2017 Ipad Pro 12.9" with a Logitech Slim Combo, a great mechanical & detachable keyboard. I've been using that particular iPad A LOT since I purchased it, at least 3-4 times more than my previous iPad -- but that model, as great as it is, doesn't have USB-C... and THAT makes such a huge difference. We seem to forget about it now that it's just there, but that port is actually the most important thing to this "pseudo-laptop" experience.

You should make a similar video with Samsung DEX on the TAB S7 or Note phones. I daily drive a note 10+ and I haven't opened my laptop in a while. My phone is connected to a 32'' 4K display, bluetooth keyboard and mouse, works with any dock station or dongle and it is a real desktop like experience. The file manager is clean, you can connect to any server, dropbox, google drive and organise your files as you please, you can multi task with windows or google apps, Adobe premier rush for video editing, etc. With a decent internet, you can play xbox game pass games with a remote.
I know it's not a very interesting subject for you guys but it is worth mentioning, as for regular consumers this can easily replace an laptop.

That’s definitely true, though as time goes on and the iPad Pro hopefully develops more of its “laptop-like” features, we might be taking it more seriously. And I think this video expresses that idea. It’s not there, but it is getting there.

Won't replace my Win10 desktop but I didn't expect it to. I wanted a tablet from factor with an excellent stylus. iPad Pro delivered perfectly.
It’s not supposed to anyway, It’s supposed to be it’s own form factor and for certain people’s use cases the IPP is perfect as a computer, without explicitly being a desktop/laptop replacement.

I am the average one man band doing simple video editing and I use my iPad air for everything. I edited my last video on lumafusion and will be using i from now on. LumaFusion was actually better then my PC editor (VideoStudio--Yes I know that's terrible but so is my pc so I wasn't gonna be able to do more even with free resolve or premier).
So I bought an iPad to upgrade my PC and it's not bad, I love apple integration with my phone and watch and multitasking is pretty good. I also plan on using both external drive and network drive support.
It's like editing on a tablet with a bad keyboard with limited software. Great. Oh and it was just as expensive as a good PC.

tbf thunderbolt uses pcie. Apple is probably waiting till its ARM MacBooks and USB4 to support than kinda stuff.
I tried using the iPad Pro 11 as a pro laptop replacement. Most of the experience was excellent, in times it is even better than a laptop. But the biggest issue was the RAM, If you are developer and you switch from the SSH client for some info, the client crashes out of RAM. if you are using a virtual machine, (UTM), running anything above Windows XP is hardly possible. The external display support was also very rubbish, but because it is a software issue I guess Apple will likely fix that in the coming iOS 14.

For my Chrome for android, it doesn't work anymore on recent versions. Not just youtube, any video playing in chrome gets paused if I turn off the screen.
