the echorec 2 is what it's mainly off of, which was built between 1961 to mid to late 70's so i guess it was a little longer then thought. But comparing the production years to say a Phase 90 from '74 to now.
Lovely stuff, that effect is indeed quite special! It makes me think about the mysterious end of the world in a way, but I don't hope that this will happen, cause I need to try this thing out...
I'm digging those intro/outro pieces that place on the videos lately... chunky riffs and those drums... whew.. massive snare snap :) Is that you guys laying down grooves?
Anyone who has this, can you tell me how good the 1 head mode is? I DO like the multi head effect, for that Pink Floyd kind of bounces, but does it sound good as like a tight slap back? Or as a slapback with high feedback? Does it sound good for reggae/dub? I'm thinking about using this to replace my Carbon copy. I really want to try one but I cant find them at shops by me. Thanks
OK so it does atmospheric / multiple repeat wonderfully well but does it do normal one or two repeat delay like say the 2290 setting does on the alter ego / flashback?
King Missile - Detachable Penis LOL. Brings back youthful stoner memories of getting unsuspecting friends really baked and then putting on a King Missile mix cd and waiting for the reactions. It was mostly "This is really f*cked up, but keep it on, I want to hear more...". But I mostly remember Beavis and Butthead thinking the video was cool. I couldn't help but notice you holding back a guilty grin when playing that part.
Think I'm going to pick one up should be awesome with my Lovepedal Kalamazoo, Also Andy you play wonderfully, when are you going to release a CD or some music of your own idea's with a good rhythm section??? Just do it and I'll buy it along with a Echorec. Kudos to your playing.
Why do boutique and expensive pedal makers offer pot controls?.Even a small knob on the side is tons more useful in live stage.... Maybe like Skreddy and such, its just creating a market for the "deluxe" versions. No sense in modding an already boutique thing. Other than that, great demo as allways, it offers great sounds and options. You can see where Gilmour got his delay timing inspiration for anything till the Wall era.
ProGuitarShopDemos I got this pedal few weeks back, and it has feedback issues, even when I'm not playing the pedal on gives a feedback. Do you know what I can do to stop the feedback?
this is probably way to late to reply, but for any one else, when you open up the back of the pedal, there is a hidden switch in back True Bypass /Buffer. Your pedal will have the buffer on, once you switch it to the TB, when you click off the pedal it will stop all existing repeats.
Nope, that is the second song. I really want to know what the song he opens with is. Such a really moody atmospheric piece... He does nail that King Missile sound though. Sh!t, Andy nails any sound he goes for.
I'm sure Andy has worked at pro guitar shop for a long time...he probably just decided to start making videos as advertisements for the site and they got popular.
This one has a preamp built in, so it's going to color the signal, but I really love the way it does... So much so, that I keep it in buffered mode, which means that the preamp is always on. I doubt the Alter Ego is going to sound as warm as this thing, but they're too very different pedals.
+stain n finish yes, and it's powered by tiny mice running on tiny wheels, both shrunk down to the size of a dime using Catalinbreads patented shrinking technology.
Catalinbread Echorec it's definitely a great delay , but compare it to Echorec is a tad risky . The Echorec Binson the chance to hear repetitions leaping when inserting the heads 2 + 3 or 3 + 4 or 1+3 or 1 + 4 , practically hear more delays with differrent times simultaneously. This makes it unique devices Echorec Binson and Factotum Meazzi. To get similar effect like Echorec Binson must be connect 4 different pedal delay together, with calibrated time delays 80ms 160ms 240ms and 320ms.
Forget the bloder/ Trip for free / Just incredible how they nailed the sound of the original/Now we can all sound like Gilmore for $ 240 beans.Brilliant design only thing missing is an expression pedal output because w/ all those modes n the ability to self osillate it is nec. cus having to adjust w/ your hands blows n I love to be able to manipulate those Heds on a fly/Never the less totally awesome...
Please remember ALL Echorec models share the same technology. From echorec 2 on you could have delay AND reverb (not available on Echorec zero, one, baby, export etc.),but that's all. You can find tube or solid state, more or less heads, but the core of the machine (disc and repeat heads) is absolutely the same from 53 to 85. In my opinon this means 32 years of production.
A word to all Shadows fans- yes we've heard of them but guess what music carried on after The Shadows (except in the minds of some sad obsessives of course)
"short lived but highly sought after form of analog technology." ?????? are you kidding, guys ??? Binson Echorecs were built from 1953 to 1985 ! do you mean 32 years is a short production time ? c'mon let's try to be serious !
that intro deserved a grammy
Thanks, just a prime example of the Echorec inspiring new riffs!
-Andy
Love this thing, you could get lost in it for days!
For fans of Radiohead and Pink Floyd methinks!
I Can't believe you played King Missile. major respect
+10 for the King Missle riff.
2:27 for the King Missle riff
@@johngannon9954. Thank you!
… oh … m’eh …
I love listening to Andy play. When he demos a good pedal like the echorec, it's just a bonus.
This has to be one of Andy's best yet
"it's detachable"
Damn, I just want to stand on my dresser, turn off my lights, turn on my psychedelic night light and pretend I am David
Please make a shootout between this, the Alterego and the original Binson Echorec... that would be awesome...
the echorec 2 is what it's mainly off of, which was built between 1961 to mid to late 70's so i guess it was a little longer then thought. But comparing the production years to say a Phase 90 from '74 to now.
Yeah I'd buy an album of that!
Lovely stuff, that effect is indeed quite special! It makes me think about the mysterious end of the world in a way, but I don't hope that this will happen, cause I need to try this thing out...
Oh man, to use one of those to play Interstellar Overdrive with one of those.
Andy, Does this pedal come with some of the modulation on?
This is a really nice delay. I just got the Supa Puss, but the head presets on this little guy makes me want to pick it up.
I'm digging those intro/outro pieces that place on the videos lately... chunky riffs and those drums... whew.. massive snare snap :) Is that you guys laying down grooves?

I like the Echorec for reggae/dub. I was surprised because you don't see videos of it. The Dawner Prince Boonar is also cool.
there's a mistake at 3:50, its "Mode 12" not "Mode 11" , dunno if someone already mentioned it.
Mode 4 is what I hear everyone using! Go around to different echorec demo's and that's all you hear! Haha
What would choose, Andy... This or EHX Memory man deluxe? Thanks
"...detachable peeeeenis"
Very inspirational thanks!
Andy es el mejor, el si sabe tocar y por lo mismo sus demos son los mejores de la red.
4:40 reminds me of ladies of the road by King Crimson
I'm planning on buying one in a near future but it is often ''out of stock'' on your website. Is it a limited edition or something?
@PGS, Do you ever get any pedals that you don't like?
OK so it does atmospheric / multiple repeat wonderfully well but does it do normal one or two repeat delay like say the 2290 setting does on the alter ego / flashback?

Love your playing. That pedal is begging for some The Edge.
Are you playing a Big Wreck riff at the end of this Andy?
Is this Andy's full-time job? Like, making all these awesome demos, is it enough for him to live off of? Thanks
Mode 8 is right out of live "Shinin' On" by Grand Funk. I wonder if Farner used an Echorec on that tune.
So if you turn the delay way down will this basically function as a reverb instead of a delay?
Think I'm going to pick one up should be awesome with my Lovepedal Kalamazoo, Also Andy you play wonderfully, when are you going to release a CD or some music of your own idea's with a good rhythm section??? Just do it and I'll buy it along with a Echorec. Kudos to your playing.

you should call Catalinbread direct. They should be able to figure it out.

Thank you! Brendan McCusker

Wish there was a modulation and gain knob on the front instead of having to take the pedal apart everytime.
Could just drill holes for them, but then some dust might be getting in.
You know they have to make a deluxe version so...maybe add a version of a pi on one side too
Anyone knows from which song is the last riffs ( 4:30 )???
Its the chorus of the King Crimson song, "ladies of the road" from album "Islands"
Good stuff!
Last song name? Pleace
Someone please tell me what the first song that Andy plays is? Soooo haunting...
Odin Mackay it's called "detachable penis" by King Missile. Not kidding; 90's novelty song
Nope, that is the second song. I really want to know what the song he opens with is. Such a really moody atmospheric piece... He does nail that King Missile sound though. Sh!t, Andy nails any sound he goes for.

Signal Chain
--TU-3--Mint Drive--EmDrive--Mxr CC Delay--Catalinbread--
Hi PGS!
This or the TC Alter ego x4? I'm confused? which one has the best audio quality, least coloring of signal? thanks!
This one has a preamp built in, so it's going to color the signal, but I really love the way it does... So much so, that I keep it in buffered mode, which means that the preamp is always on. I doubt the Alter Ego is going to sound as warm as this thing, but they're too very different pedals.
This intro remembers me of my nights with schoolfriends when we smoked weed and took 2 times lsd
What is the name of the intro song??? Like theres no way he wrote that.
Just made it up that day, thanks! ❤️
It actually has a spinning tape with heads inside?
+HIGH GAIN Nah bro, it's like... emulation of that sound, using delay chips.
well it sounds great
Yeah it sounds daaaamn good. I want one.
+stain n finish yes, and it's powered by tiny mice running on tiny wheels, both shrunk down to the size of a dime using Catalinbreads patented shrinking technology.
MykTheOccultist Oh my God, that made me laugh.

You can change the patterns of the heads on this pedal
this or Boss Space Echo?
So glad someone heard that right away! lol!
he played echoes in part 1
Forget the bloder/ Trip for free / Just incredible how they nailed the sound of the original/Now we can all sound like Gilmore for $ 240 beans.Brilliant design only thing missing is an expression pedal output because w/ all those modes n the ability to self osillate it is nec. cus having to adjust w/ your hands blows n I love to be able to manipulate those Heds on a fly/Never the less totally awesome...
fuck ! i forgot the names of the rest of delay pedals !!
This pedal kicks the Space Echo's ass.
+J Johnson and it's smaller
i really wish that mod depth was on the outside, kind of a bummer....sounds great though.
Great Video Thanks
LOL King Missile
Did you intentionally play "Detachable Penis" when testing out the modes? Don't worry, it only made me more excited to finally play mine on Christmas.
That would make awesome bowed guitar
Nice!! Ladies of the road by krimson
Play some Wipers

i love my CB echo rec
I love the tone but why no tap tempo?
Just when you thought owning a Way Huge Supa Puss, Boss DM-2W, TC Alter Ego X4 and Belle Epoch was enough.
Did I hear me some King Missle? I won't say the name of the song here.
...This thing is so fucking sweet... That's all.
Superb. Oy! Santa. Lol. :-)
Back again.
So this is a digital pedal, right?
Catalinbread Echorec + Neunaber Wet reverb = Tsunami
oh my god im in love
Hahaaaa! You caught that too!
Interstellar Overdrive
I wish, but I agree... sounds a lot like it
YOU SOUND LIKE JACK BLACK!!!!!!
so fucking beautiful!!!
vox hand wired wah wah video please.
A word to all Shadows fans- yes we've heard of them but guess what music carried on after The Shadows (except in the minds of some sad obsessives of course)
tasty!
$230 for a delay? It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it's not THAT cool.
"short lived but highly sought after form of analog technology." ??????
are you kidding,guys ???
