This pedal does exactly what every pedal SHOULD do (but none of them do): It makes you play differently and you end up wanting it on all the time, to the point of making excuses to keep it on, even when echo isn't called for. Just an absolute game changer. You guys nailed it. It's not just "an emulation of an EP-3," it's a whole paradigm of its own.

I lot of pedals inspire you to play differently lol I do love this one too though

I have a Catalinbread Topanga. It does an INSANE spring reverb and its easter egg is an awesome chorus-y modulation which interacts very well with the reverb settings. Very usable at any setting, to be honest.
Considering how good the Belle sounds and its vibrato mode, you can do incredible things with just these two pedals.

I found an old forum post about the lack of tap tempo on the Belle Epoch where you said that you aren't really about public demand but rather you create pedals that that you feel inspired to.
With that in mind (don't worry, I'm not going to ask for tap tempo, though admittedly it can be useful) I hope this suggestion might inspire you. I'd love to see a two switch version of this pedal with one side being the preamp and the other side being the tape delay emulation (voiced to sound like an EP-3 when used in conjunction with the preamp). This would allow for more flexibility as the user could use either side at his or her own discretion.
This video was helpful as I didn't know the preamp remained on when in buffered mode. Very useful for those that use an EP-3 style preamp as an "always on" pedal.

I'm an analog delay junkie and have played everything from DM-2, Ibanez, EHX, Malekko... Today I own a Maxon AD999 pro and a JHS Panther Cub (tap tempo for live). My favorite analog wannabe digital engined delay pedal is the Line 6 Echo Park (way better than the DL4, Strymon, Eventide...).
I've been flirting with the Epoch since it came out and I finally got my hands on it. WOW! It's perfection. I haven't had a delay pedal putting a smile on my face like this for a long time (probably since the Maxon). The Belle Epoch has a delay sound with zero digitalness to it and it just gels with your guitar sound.
The bad news??? Now I want them all!!! Echorec, Adineko...

I've found that going into vibrato mode can be pretty reminiscent of the flutter on the Tel-Ray oil can delays depending on how you set the depth. I hope this was at least part of the intention behind including it because it's indescribably cool to use once you get past the initial cheese factor

This pedal is so f**king good I sold my first one out of sheer stupidity, then got a Strymon Timeline thinking it could replace my Belle Epoch and boy was I wrong....the Strymon Timeline is a great pedal....make no mistake, but the Belle Epoch is just magic when you know how to combine it with dirt pedals or high gain amps.....I just got my second Belle Epoch and paired it with my Fender Custom '57 Deluxe (5e3) with my custom shop Les Paul and Bogner Blue overdrive and holy jumpin' jesus the tone is unreal......

First let me say that I like this pedal a lot. It's cool that the Belle Epoch has a gain control and the bypass switch, as well as the hidden "Easter egg" vibrato mode, but why not have these controls on the top of the unit so people can use them without having to unscrew the bottom? And why have an "Easter egg" mode to begin with? I would like to have these features out there and clearly documented, with easy to use controls attached to the outside of the unit, so I could use them easily.

    • @JacobH93
      @JacobH93 8 лет назад +1

+mrjohnp555 I think they idea with true bypass and gain is that you set it for your rig/preferred sound and leave it alone. So those make sense to me.
The hidden vibrato mode is kind of strange though. Not sure why that isn't just a regular feature. Its a cool sound but the way you get it makes it kind of... unusable in a live setting anyways.

Just picked up one of these pedals. I'm not able to get this into an adjustable Easter Egg mode vibrato. I also don't hear any noticeable wobble in normal mode. Although, when I turn the Mod knob all the way up, that is where a rapid vibrato kicks in whether I'm in easter egg or normal mode. Any thoughts why this may be happening?

I was messing around with tones on the back, then the echo sustain knob stopped working (there's always only 1 echo) and the modulation went insane (I now know I accidentally figured out the vibrato secret!). If anyone has any advice like a system reset or how to fix the echo sustain, please let me know! I think it might be because I wasn’t yet knowledgeable and I touched the white connection points on the printed circuit board with my screwdriver and might have caused a short (I know, rookie mistake). I love this pedal, have been using it for years - Bummed :(

i just bought this pedal. i have it running into the front of a Marshall 2204 and it has a hiss. How can i eliminate this? I have tried a couple isolated PS to no avail (also 12vdc and 18vdc settings vs 9vdc) I have lowered the gain pot on the back all the way as well as put it into full bypass mode. I do not use much delay or mix/level at all just for some subtle ambiance but the pedal has a massive hiss.

When I Turn the repeats clockwise and when the pedal goes into that 'infinite oscillation' mode, is there any way that that swirling sound just fades out rather than being abruptly stopped. When it's in bypass mode, and when I turn off the pedal, that swirling sound immediately stops, but when I switch it to buffered mode, turn the repeats to 3 o'clock or further, I cannot stop the swirling sound by turning the pedal off. Is there any solution or is it just the way it is?
