Thanks to this video I finally understand how this pedal works. Thanks!
My favorite delay tone
I find it interesting that one of the 'I know Echorecs and this sounds nothing like them!' dudes is saying the Catalinbread is too digital sounding, and the other is basically saying it's too 'analog' (too dirty and warbly).
AT this point, I don't think people even know what 'sounds digital' or 'sounds analog' really means.
Indeed, George, in my experience amps and effects either sound good or they don't. Blind test people and they wouldn't know what technology they were listening to.
Of course anybody who went and out and squandered a bunch of money on a real Echorec is going to say that the pedal is awful.
Sounds like a digital replication of analogue technology, there Im glad someone else said it
This thing needs tap tempo, and modulation control on top of the pedal as a knob. The sounds are very high quality tho.
Great demo and playing.
I like it don't really care who else does or doesn't !
Thanks for the great demo.
Great pedal and good review!!thanks
Awesome pedal. I fall asleep to this
Excelent !!!
it would be perfect with tap tempo - the sound is just stunning!
+The Larch Yeah I thought that as well, but once I got it, your realize it does not need it - it is so easy to dial in a tempo / rhythm. My favorite "out there delay" along with the Digitech Obscura
At 4:24 your onscreen text is incorrect. The text indicates ..."when the modulation trimmer pot is turned counterclockwise there is no modulation at all." In fact it's the exact opposite. When the modulation trim pot is turned clockwise, modulation is reduced and fully clockwise there is no modulation. Turning the modulation trim pot counterclockwise in fact increases the modulation.
EXCELENTE PEDAL. ME ENCANTA.
This is the only pedals that could handle 18V that I liked better with 9V
great
I have this and 2 real binsons. the catalinbread does not exact the binsons by far. the repeats sound very digital and lack retaining the tone. it's a fun multi echo, but I would look into the new Boonar with selectable heads. either way, digital emulation still cannot replicate the swell effect convincingly. nice playing on your demo!
Yea, of course as an owner of an Echorec you're going to say that in order to justify your ludicrous expenditure.
For some reason I hear the digital repeats in this demo but not in my tests nor in Catalinbread demos.
Should have put the echorec frist then put the DSL second
Nice delay, but I have to say, I agree with the comments below - it doesn't sound anything like an Binson Echorec
A Boss DD2 'doesnt sound anything like a Binson Echorec' This is about 60-75% there, not bad for a pedal that costs 1/10th as much. Are you sure the fact that you're a rival builder who's been working on an Echorec sim of your own isn't colouring your opinion?
+George O'Donoghue You're right I am a pedal builder (Mr Effectrode) and long standing Binson Echorec enthusiast too. Echorecs are certainly in vogue, with several pedal manufacturers using them as a marketing tool for stompbox delays - some have even gone to the trouble of registering Dr Bini's Binson Echorec tradename. They sound nothing like an Echorec to my ear, but then why should they - they're completely different technologies - the only common thing is the tradename. From my experience of servicing and using Echorecs I reckon the DD2 is might be a better approximation of a properly serviced or new Echorec with it's clean repeats and no wow or flutter, than the Catalinbread 'Echorec'.
'Clean repeats with no wow or flutter'? Boooring.
I reckon it's how you use it.
How do you control the modulation? Like the song at 4:08 has some modulation but the example before doesnt. What did you change, if there's no knob for mod?
not a fan of the overly modulated sound, the binson doesnt make it warble like that
The modulation is optional and you can run it without any warble.
how yo
u switch to buffered?
Expensive
Please, name song in 4:06?
