    The Catalinbread Echorec brings to life the legendary magnetic drum delay that is synonymous with Syd Barrett and Mr. Gilmour. After years of R&D, Portland-based Catalinbread have faithfully captured not only the sound of this multi-head unit, but its desirable side effects. 4 'playback heads' are accessed with a 12 mode selector, giving the Echorec the same galloping, rhythmic combinations as its father. Internal Modulation control captures the subtle warble that was inherent from a spinning drum and can be fine tuned to taste. The Catalinbread Echorec also has one important feature its analog counterpart didn't, a Delay Time control. Now, it's possible to achieve single, dual, triple and quadruple delay presets up to 1 second! A wide range tone control can either cut low end and race into screaming oscillation or produce a warm, bass boosted Swell that blurs the line between echo and reverb. Plus, Catalinbread have developed a dry signal path that recreates the sonic signature of the original tube Echorec, which can spice up your base tone in Buffered Trails mode or vanish with True Bypass.

    I would like to thank you personally for NOT playing hamfisted blues licks when demo'ing gear. This demo really gives us what we need to know--arpeggios, tight voicings, single note lines, strum. Good job.

    I have been trying to get that early 60's sound (The Shadows, The Fentones) since my Watkins Copicat packed up about 30 years ago: I couln't afford a Binson!.
    Plenty of echo pedals out there but they were all too, well, sort of clean-sounding. Then I discovered the Catalinbread Echorec: this is IT!!!!!
    Very happy!!!!

    This is the ultimate Echorec pedal. When I long for Echorec -I go right to Pompeii Floyd and Echoes. That dark eerie overtone. This pedal is closest. Boonar is great but brighter and not as mystical and so far the Strymon volante sounds like a big sky meeting El Cap. Nice and euphoric but "Strymony"
    It's just not conveying that dark mystical thing an Echorec has. Nothing will ever touch the original Binson -we all know that's a special thing, but as all these digital reproductions go-Echorec is my fave.

      @MrSimondaniel3 9 лет назад +1

      ***** yea, i can see that.. i think he/they maybe hadn't had a lot of time yet to mess with it. I like the way the repeats take on a distinct flavor, when i use it it sounds a bit different than this vid. At 3:08 thats the most similar to my experience with it. I would post a demo but i honestly never done that, i'd have to figure out how. Im sure its easy.. also, i've never heard a live Binson, so if u have, this ped. could be disappointing as i believe they sound pretty different.

    Great idea to put the different head combinations like on original Echorech, behind this pedal there is a great engineering work. In my opinion, for next Echorec update Catalinbread friends should brighten a bit the repetitions response and decrease the influence of the "wow" effect modulator. However, great pedal!

    • @hoover728
      @hoover728 6 лет назад

      The tone knob lets you brighten the repeats to a pretty extreme degree and there's a trimpot inside to set the modulation (I find that factory set is just a bit too pitchy).

  • @ShoreStudios

    Been holding out on a good delay pedal for years now, I always see one that is slightly better then the next and I keep putting money away, 90% of it is all Andy's fault too; however on the upside if he keeps it up I may end up with enough cash saved up to just buy a real Echoplex! Looks like this thing barely takes up any real estate on your pedal board and wow I must say its a VERY tasty sounding delay pedal. Props on the section from Echoes, best damn Floyd song in my books!!!
