I still remember the first time I saw it and it went from a crime escape drama to holy shit there's vampires at the end of this movie
I know right .
It really is two different movies rolled into one. 😀
I can’t believe this movie is almost 25 years old, it doesn’t seem possible. I was 15 when this movie came out, it seems like it took me forever to turn 15 but 40 came on like a flash.
It's because each year that passes is a smaller and smaller fraction of your life.
When you're 3, a year is a quarter of your life.
25, a 26th.
40, a 41st.
James Neave fuck, I’m 40 next year
You young kids have no idea!
I'm 46!
@@MostlyPennyCat ... Interesting perspective, but the fractional relationships you described are a little bit off, unless you are counting gestation. Generally, emergence from the womb is considered the day one begins counting time, for want of a better description. On the third birthday, three years have passed, resulting in one year being ⅓ of a person's "life". As for perspective, I doubt that infants think about the passage of time. From my personal experience, I don't think I was too concerned about time passing "so slowly" until it started going by so quickly. As it's accelerating, the reality of what it means digs in deeper and deeper. One incident that plays into my time factoring is my near death at age 20. Because of that, I don't fear that part of the equation. I appreciate the time I've had since what was an incredibly blessed unlucky occurrence befell me. I didn't believe in God at the time, but I've learned that life can be influenced in ways that swing far outside the realm of coincidence.
Anyway, since a three year old is considered three until the fourth birthday, a year can be considered to be ⅓ OR ¼ of his/her life, depending on perspective. Kind of causes some head scratching.
@@JW...-oj5iw
It's because I meant the _subsequent_ year and didn't bother responding that.
Your 3.
The next year will last ¼ of your life.
When I watched it for the first time back in 1996 the first hour was a action heist movie but then it suddenly turned into an all out horror show with amazing creature effects. Love this movie.
Cheech’s Speech was interesting to say the least
"THAT, gentlemen, is how you upsell your product!"
Mmmmm new flavor apple pie
Best part of na film🤣🤣🤣
I agree. F it.
@Redemption Of The Dead we got that too!
Salma Hayek's dance scene in this movie is one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history!
I agree, she is so beautiful, but that's the best I've seen her. till she turned....
I prefer her dancing on Four Rooms. Check it out.
I wish I was the snake
Amen too that 🙌🙏
A stripper in a strip club that doesn't strip.
That sucks.
“What’s in Mexico?” ..”Mexicans”😂
Yeah totally.
Ha
Ha
Yes
Gee , that’s not racist at all
@@jefferyzimmerly8472 it’s a line in film, it’s not meant to be racist.
Tarantino "borrowed" that line from The Wild Bunch - whether he did it deliberately or not, I don't know but as soon as that line was spoken I immediately thought of the scene from the Wild bunch where Robert Ryan and Strother Martin say exactly the same thing.
I watched this movie in the best way possible. I hadn’t heard anything about it and my mate stuck it on so the twist was a total surprise 👍
Same here. The transition from an on-the-run suspense thriller to a vampire horror flick nearly gave me whiplash :p
I got the Suprise , too. I worked with a guy who said he was high as testicules while watching for first time. Freaked him out for a bit...
👍
Was like a Road movie didn't have a clue what was to happen
Yeah I wish I could wipe from my memory an watch it again ...although I do still watch it now and again anyway !
I was 16 when this movie came out! Great movie Salma was beautiful in it! They sure don't make movies like they use to. 😫
Totally agree gorgeous just think they might remake this classic further down the future
@@tonyacosta4574 that would be awesome! 🙂
@@lupitarodriquez9470 only if done right and the best cast
Btw the you are very gorgeous
This is one of a few films that you can make quotes from, and eather you will get weird looks, maybe a nod of agreement, or a smile from acknowledgment.
Such a great film.
As long as you don't go around quoting Chet's (Cheech Marin's character) welcome monologue before people go into the front door of the T Twister bar. LOL
@@4Just1Girl I did once at a bar. On a bet that I couldn't get the whole quote right.
And there was plenty of examples of of the various ummmmYea and as prattling off the quote and showcasing examples.
I won the bet. And the beer was free.
@@4Just1Girl I was very uncouth and uncivilized in my youth.
@@dracosdiabolis1769 Way to go! Hope the FREE beer tasted great as auhmm...
Apple pie?! ;) LOL
Seeing George Clooney as an action badass is amazing... probably my favorite Clooney role... even over the Oceans movies because again it’s such an atypical role for him and he pulls it off so well!
"Welcome to slavery."
"No thanks. I already had a wife."
Brilliant!
Don't leave out the first part: "You'll be my little dog, and you can lick the shit off my boot heels!"
The vampire twist baffled me when I saw this movie. I loved it!
Always like way Seth Gecko no matter what he always had his brothers Richie's back. I even bought that the Gecko brothers genuinely loved each other
I always thought it made Clooney's character as much of a lunatic as his brother.
"Blood is thicker than homicidal lunacy?"
When I was a kid in the 1970's and 80's my brothers, friends, and I would talk about vampires and say things such as: All you need to do to get a cross is hold two sticks together. Or why don't they fill a water gun or water balloon with holy water? Or what's the difference between an arrow and a stake? What if an archer went up against vampires? From Dusk Till Dawn was the first film (that I know of) to incorporate all these ideas kids had been asking about probably for 50 years. Great job Quentin.
Dracula (1958) by Hammer had 2 candle sticks as a cross, The Lost Boys (1985) had a bath filled with holy water which vamps were pushed into .... Plent of examples of interesting ways to kill vampires
@@daviddowsett1658 But Quentin seemed to have included all of them.
Any guy who doesn't immediately stop what he's doing to watch Salma Hayek's "Santanico Pandemonium" dance must hand over his Man Card.
@Cj Wow...someone knows a buzz word. Guess a troll is gonna troll. I suggest you go watch the scene, might be one of the few times you actually see a half naked woman.
The show expanded on the lore immensely and was actually pretty good, running for a few season.
Thanks Minty! I loved that you covered "From Dusk til Dawn", I use to have it on VHS but stupidity gave it way.
It's a excellent 90's horror movie. 😀👍🧛♂️
Yea totally awesome. But my gosh the sequels sucked. No Tarantino no watch, simple.
@@jeannieh3661 agreed
Love this crazy Action Horror film from Director Robert Rodriguez and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino.
Love this movie. Perfect mix of action and fun horror. Never knew it was a Tales from the Crypt concept though!
I sew this movie in a independent cinema in dublin when it came out in 97 it was show as a double bill feature with the rocky horror pictures show of all things as most people I haven't got a clue what it was about but was blow away with its unexpected direction. It was banned in Ireland it just wasn't given a cert so it could not be shown in commercial cinema.
I learned from Kevin Smith and Trey Parker that the reason we stay away from NC-17 ratings in the states is because they won’t play at theaters. So we find anyway to bring them down to “R” ratings.
We were founded by Puritanical prudes. Nate Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter now applies to movies and t.v., ay? Maybe in another 200 years, with Euro, Asian, African, Natice American, and Aussie Pagan influences, we can break Christianity's evil spell.
Love this flick...watch it everytime I run into it.
Number 11. It's actually two movies where the first part is directed by Tarantino and the other part is directed by Robert Rodriguez him self. It's why the roadmovie part feels so different than the vampire part of the film.
Just like Grindhouse is a pairing from the two and in some regards Four Rooms as well.
Me at the end of movie: "Wait, you've had that badass tattoo this whole time??"
The movie made me want to get a full tattoo sleeve when I was around 13 years old.
@@Runforestrun Billy Idol made me want to get my ear pierced. Where were our parents??! 😂
Easily one of my favourite films since childhood.
I already knew the Salma Hayek dance scene was my favorite.
I remember renting the movie an watching about 20 min of it thinking "I thought this was a vampire movie" Decided it wasn't and thought well this is a damn good movie anyway, then when the vampires showed up I was totally shocked, said "Holy ****" and fell in love with the movie.
I love this psychotic violet gorefest of a film plus great music and Salma Hayek at her sexiest.
The music in this movie was awesome, it was the first Tarantino film I saw as a kid.
It's not a Tarantino film. It's a Robert Rodriguez film
Salma hayak was hot in this film ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@David R what about desperado?
Absolutely brilliant performances by Tarantino and Cooney. Very believable brothers, Tarantino being the younger one who worshipped his older , charismatic sibling.
3:00, yes, I remember hearing bit was going to be part of Tales From The Crypt.
I was working for Rainbow Casting at the time who cast the background actors including some of the vampire strippers!
It was definitely a lot of fun working on the vampire makeups and effects for this film. Hard work, but a lot of fun.
Mr 44 Makes A Noise. You ask a question. Mr 44 Answers It.
You try to run, I got six little friends that can all run faster than you can.
Earl McGraw. Loved that character. I liked his row of sunglasses in Kill Bill when he's driving up to the crime scene.
That was like the coolest BAR ever until it wasn't!
Mark, you get i thumbs up even before ive watched the vid! Keep up the great work mate!
Danny Trejo is the best, he’s a great “bad guy” but he saved some folks after a car accident IRL. The wreck happens and like a movie star you see him run over to the car and checking on the occupants. I want to be the next Danny Trejo, I’ve got the tats and I have a ton of scars. Many of them on my face, I’ve had a pretty rough life. My face/body read like a book, I was an actor before all this happened too with a credited award.
AN FYI to Danny Trejo's Filmography, He also portrayed an old time friend of 1 Mr. Victor Newman on the daytime drama The Young and the Restless (IRL). :) for quite a lengthy timeline.
@@4Just1Girl Get outta here.... that was my mom's favorite soap.
@@lastcall3544 IT'S True! :) it was a long while back when Victor was in a horrible accident trying to looking for his missing son, Adam and ended up being in a huge fight against some bad guys who beat him up so badly that he ended up with amnesia and wandering around some little town where it was somewhere up north I think, anyway, he walked into some local diner and Danny Trejo played the diner owner/manager and ended up being a good friend to Victor and along with one of the women waitresses there at the diner, they helped take care of Victor, while everyone in Genoa City had NO CLUE where he was. They all became good close friends, and It was just so strange to see DT being good, and cool, BRO type friends with Victor Newman. It was cool though.
So... I've wondered... Do the ladies go for the VERY bad boy look?
@@4Just1Girl Thanks for the summary!!
I remember watching From Dusk Till Dawn for the first time and having my mind blown away when the vampires showed up. I totally was not expecting that to happen. My 11 year old mind exploded.
This movie was awesome thanks for all the facts minty 👍♥️🙂
4:40 Apparantly E.R. in Australian is iiiiiiaaah.
Isn't he British, from London?
love that you did this movie
Love every time you pload it is legit, Dusk to Dawn, I stay up all night, about to hit the hay, and then you upload a new video.
7:48 “enshue” lol
when we rented this movie back in 97 or something , we had no idea about the "twist". So fun
7:10, I loved the Sequels, especially part 3, showing the origins of the Vampires.
Never saw the sequels, gonna upload #3 now if I can.
@Joe Horn Really? Well, I guess someone had to like it. The second was derivative, made solely to make money. The third one had an actual thematic point. The only problem with them, really, is, we already knew there were vampires the main characters were unaware of.
It's meta that Robert Patrick is in the 2nd movie but plays the father in the show
Good morning Minty from South Texas (It's 7 am here)
5th Element, Jaws, The Howling and From Dusk Til Dawn are some of my favorite movies. Whatever the reasons
In the end where the bar was really a giant Aztec pyramid is iconic!
As a Irish citizen who was 1 years old when this movie came out I had no idea that it was banned in my country of Ireland
Your poor country right now I feel so bad for. As an American I can concur that We uhll be Fook’d 😉
I definitely recommend watching the show series. It expands on the lore, the original heist leading up to the movie, WHY Ritchy's so crazy, and the history behind the vampires. There's so much good stuff there.
The series was amazing, so well done. Minty doesn't know what he's talking about here "Nothing more needs to be said" The series showed us just how much more there was to be said.
10 things you didn’t know about Near Dark
Agreed
Thirded.
YAAASSS
i recently watched that, i don't understand the hype
i would love him to do a video on Fright Night
@@MikeG82 Yes, for the original FN, not the sequel (which blew dust). I haven't seen the remake yet. I'm worried it will... just not suck hard enough. 🧛♂️ Master actor, Chris Sarandon, is the sexiest vampire of my lifetime of being a horror fan, capturing the allure of unbridled, immortal lust, hinging on accepting an insane, secret lifestyle. It's an obvious answer to Christianity's lifestyle of bridled, mortal lust, hinging on accepting an insane, open lifestyle. Strange ground for Atheists to walk, because these two caricatures each need the other (even if imaginary) to exist.
I remember my human complaining about this movie taking forever to get to the Vampire parts. But once it got there, it was pretty awesome!!!
Selma Hayek... Whoa!!!!
#11 The son's t-shirt, Precinct 1, is foreshadowing. There is a 1976 film, Assault on Precinct 13 where police and inmates team up to fight of a street gang, just as the Gecko's and their prisoners team up in this movie.
Great video as always, Minty! Meanwhile, you should know that From Dusk 'Til Dawn was not Tarantino's first paid film script. He actually sold his first script, True Romance, for the studio minimum price of $30,000. He should have negotiated for more but unfortunately he was still naïve to the slippery nature of Hollywood at that time.
The guy in the store screaming i didnt call the Cops is John Hawkes i was in a movie with him & Keanu Reeves called Hardball.
No telling how many times I watched this movie in my teens along with Desperado. Cinematic excellence.
I dont care if I have already seen this one. Its Mark. I am going to watch it again.
This movie is a whole mood when you live in the desert.
#11: The Titty Twister bar set is used in the 1987 Lou Diamond Phillips movie, La Bamba, when Ricky and Bob go to Tijuana for the evening. What was created for this movie was just the decor and the temple shot at the end.
Def in my Top 10. Groyt job agaaain brah
I LOVE this movie. I remember when it first came out. It was way different from all the other corny 90's movies.
Aahhh good movie. Like the actors in this movie too. Enjoyed your video Minty!
❤️💜💚
Great video, Minty. I've always enjoyed this film and will check out FDTD 3 at some point.
No Salma Hakek facts? Very bad, Minty. Very bad
I tuned in just for that! I did hear she was afraid of snakes and was mad at Robert Rodriguez for the snake scene!
thanks Minty, always enjoy your vids! 😀
One hell of a wild ride!

Me too
Back before the internet...when it turned from into a vampires movie, us moviegoers were like
*a surprise, but a welcome one, to be sure."*
Thank you for re-uploading these bc I was seeing the same videos over and over but lately I’ve been seeing ones I haven’t seen pop up a lot
Saw this one baked off my gourd with my hs friends. Good times.
I have to look for that TV show and check it out. Thanks!!
You know I am digging these reuploads. It’s kind of like listening to music on shuffle. Yeah I’ve seen it before but I enjoy the second time around just as much!! Minty you should just randomly release an old video now and then. It gives us a chance to see something again and maybe some new subs didn’t go back through your vault like I did and watch all of them. Just a thought
I was lucky to watch this movie on theater on its original release and I was amazed with its unexpected vampire twist. Since then I am fan of the film and I love its TV series too. Thanks a lot for reuploading this video 👍🎬😎
Such a fantastic movie! Still love it.
Thanks for the video. Keep em coming. You seem like a cool dude
From Dusk Till Dawn is a lot of fun to watch! Great Job Minty!
Great video!
Have you ever done a video on Fight Club?
That would be a great one.
He can't......... 1st & 2nd Rules of Fight club ! 😉👍
Love this movie as a kid..even now..
"everybody be cool, YOU be cool". Clooney's best line ever.
Best opening scene ever in any movie thanks to Michael Parks.
Did anybody watch this movie _not_ knowing it was a vampire movie?
yes , I think must of us watching it in the 90s had no idea.
Not until the first one turned, more than half way through the movie!
Where I lived the previews and ads gave it all away.
ABSOLUTELY!! We didn't have all the different media then that we do today. I don't even remember seeing a trailer for it, and if I did, it was done right. Not like today we're you know the whole story by the end of it.
if you saw the ads you knew it was a vampire movie
I remember renting this on VHS the night of home video release, never heard of it before and it was before I had internet. But seen the picture on the box so gave it a try. About 4 weeks later my jaw picked itself up off the floor..... what a twist for a movie when you had no idea it was coming. 23 year old me was awestruck. It remained in my top 10 movies ever since.
It was just as good to watch this as the first upload.
That's a good point. Sheriff Earl McGraw is immortal and keeps turning up in Tarentino movies, just like Dick Miller's Walter Paisley character turns up in Roger Corman and Joe Dante movies and even Fred Dekker's Night of the Creeps.
Salma Hayek's dancing scene, my god
Amazing that she stayed single as long she did
If I could fall for a woman it would be her. Im straight tho- but holy crap was she hot!!
The TV show is excellent!!! By season two they hit their stride. It's fun and they don't take it to seriously... Definitely worth a watch. Selma is forever seared into my brain!!!
I'm from Ireland... I seen this when it came out on video!!!
Once again proving my bisexuality. 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥
